I have a rooted nexus one with cynogen mod 6.0 on it and i went to rom manager and 6.1 is available , I want to know if i can download it or what do i have to do to get it ? Its running 2.2 not 2.2.1 id like that to .. Yes im new to this but want to learn .. Please help..
Download it, include gapps, backup rom, let it run. That's it.
Yes download it either via rom manager or via cyanogen forum. Also download gapps if you don't have google apps and google account linked to the phone yet. Do a nand back up.install the new rom via rom manager or via the custom recovery. Since you're running cm6 I'd guess your having clock work mod recovery. but either way it'll work. To install the gapps, boot into recovery, install zip from sd card, find the package, install.complete.

Hello,
I have a Nexus One with Froyo FRG33 installed. Previously, I had installed cyanogen 6.0 with clockworks recovery.
The mobile keeps prompting me to install the latest update. When I click yes, it reboots into clockwork recovery, where I can't work out what to do next.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Many thanks.
If you want to install the OTA update, you need the stock recovery (must be somewhere in the forums), if you have Cyanogen i dont recommend doing this... there was a way to stop the messages but don't remember how
WRONG PLACE TO PU A QUESTION btw
And be warned, you lose root with this patch.

Hello,
Thanks for the response. I already had installed stock fr91 which was upgraded to frg33. That did not get rid of clockwork recovery.
I don't care about root so not really concerned about that. Tux.
Hi everyone
I have a question, I rooted my phone (Nexus One AT&T version) with Androot after that I downloaded Rom Manager and install cyanogenmod 6.1 before that I do a backup of my stock rom with Rom Manager and stored in my Sd card.
My question are, in case I want to upgrade to gingerbread the only thing I have to do is return to my original rom backup with Rom Manager and rooted again with the androot?
Thanks for your replies.

Yes that should be it.
Actually...
To use ROM Manager, you have to install a custom recovery and with a custom recovery
you won't be able to get the update OTA, since the update will reboot after download
and try to install via the original recovery...
But of course the update will most certainly be posted here as a update.zip that you
can install via ROM Manager...

ClockworkMod recovery will install the OTA update as it doesn't check signatures.

I'm sure that within 24 hours (or 24 minutes) of the first release, a repacked update.zip for custom recovery will appear. If you're coming from Cyanogen, take a nandroid and Titanium backup first, then wipe data/cache, before proceeding.
Keep in mind we *don't* yet know if any root exploits remain in Gingerbread. They may well have patched up the "rageagainstthecage" exploit by now. If your bootloader is locked and you want it to stay that way, and you still want the option of root access... then wait for the custom recovery update.zip and use that.
Thanks to all for the answers, I don't think gingerbread have much changes like cyanogenmod 6.1, but in case Google announces tons of surprises with gingerbread I known the best way to return back to get the update.
Thanks

Hi guys! so i have a htc t-mobile g1 firmware version 1.6 build number dmd
64. I have installed rom manager and universal androot v1.6.2 beta 5. I rooted phone and flashed clockwork mod recovery. I would like to install a rom.
where do i go from here? Do I have to still downgrade the sofware or can I go right from 1.6 dmd 64 to a rom. the option download a rom does not work,I get message the requested item cannot be found. what are my options? can someone please help me! i am total noob and this is my only phone for now don't wanna screw it up. sorry for long post just trying to be accurate.....thanks.
is the recovery installed?
you went the fast way but it still usually works
power on the phone holding the home button
if your in clockwork recovery then your ok, just flash a rom
the newest roms require more work from you to get them though
see here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831139
yes, it does go into clockwork recovery. i had flashed clockworkmod recovery and backed up current rom in rom manager. i was worried i had to downgrade to rc29 or something like that. do i still have to install radio and danger sp? thank for the help and replying
Most roms you want will require you to

so no downgrade? ill install radio and danger spl and try cyanogen6 android 2.2. ill follow the cyanogenmod wiki and try it. well see how it goes......
I wouldn't recomend cm6 with only the danger spl, you be very slow if it boots at all. Try cm5. If you want more you'll need to follow the 2708+ update to get the extra ram hack for roms past 2.1

I will try cm5 then thanks....I'll post any issues i have..
i was just on cyanogenmod wiki trying to install cm5 and it says clockworkmod is not recomended or safe.it says to please upgrade to aman ra. so confused now
Its only not recommended because amonra is better for the dream, clockwork will work just fine. Also know that cyanogen helped write the code that amonra is based off of. All that said I use amonra and not the biggest fan of clockwork

first of i like to say thank you for taking the time to help.this is what i downloaded so far, radio 2.22.23.02,danger spl,cm5. there is also something called mirror. what is it? and should i download that as well.after downloading this stuff it needs to be put on root of sd card then i should flash each one?
correct, here is the process
have all downloads on root of sd card
root (you did this)
install custom recovery (you id this)
flash radio via recovery (you can test and make sure by powering on w/camera)
flash spl via recovery (same test as radio)
flash rom via recovery
now you are ready to play with cm5!
the mirror is just in case the download link isnt working for you, same file
thank you so much! you are the man really appreciate it bro..worked perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need rom manager 2.5 installed if android 2.1 newer rom manager only installs on android 2.2 or higher. Do a search for it I know it's. Out there I needed it once before not long ago. Once 2.5 is installed you can flash your new rom. Then update rom manager.
Good luck.
Or you can install twrp get it through goomanager. Find it in playstore.
Since Rom Manager is no longer in the market, what do I do? I'm still in 2.1 and rooted using the 1 click Root method, which I can't link for some reason. I want to have Gingerbread and Cyanogen Mod. How can I achieve this? (please talk to me like I'm a caveman or something. As I'm an epic computer guy, I have no knowledge of Android phones.)
EDIT: I used this to root my phone youtube.com/watch?v=-tAt9PMykz8
Just download the rom of your choice, place on the root of your SD card, boot into recovery, wipe everything (Make sure you did a back up first!!!!), then flash the rom (.zip file) then reboot your phone.
I have never used one click root. Does it even install a custom recovery?
