[Q] How can I check if the nandroid backup it's OK? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
Two days ago I make a nandroid backup before flashing a .zip but this nandroid doesn't work. It says something like: "execute ...recovery.sh"
So, how can I check if the nandroid backup is well done?
Thanks!

You should search for that error, this has been discussed at length. The backup is fine, search for solutions to the problem.

Nandroid backup won't work!

Hi everyone, I seemed to have found myself in a predicament.
I've been trying to install Kang-o-rama, but when I do, it gets stuck at the boot screen. This is not a problem itself, because last time I just restored a Nandroid backup and my phone would be back to normal. However, I have just tried to restore my backup, and it says:
"Error: run 'nandroid-mobile.sh restore' via adb!"
I'm not sure why it is saying this or if there is anyway to fix it. I did rename the Nandroid backup folder if that makes a difference?
Thanks in advance, hope you can help
Never mind everyone, it seems that it doesn't like spaces in the nandroid folder names. I renamed them with underscores and it worked just fine.

[Q] Some questions to which I found different answers or no at all

So, here's the deal. I'm still a total noob regarding almost anything Android related. I did search for answers and explanations before opening this thread. I'm really sorry if I annoy anyone with this but I'm getting desperate as any information I find seems to be antinoobproof.
First of all, about busybox.
I found somewhere on the internet that I can check if I have busybox installed by typing busybox in Terminal Emulator and if a list of commands gets returned it's installed. I did it and I got the list of commands, but when I go into busybox installer app it says that busybox is not installed. What's with that?
Then, about nandroid backup.
Some say Titanium backup makes a nandroid backup, some say it doesn't. Which is it?
I found some tutorials on making nandroid backup in Recovery mode, but when I'm trying to make a nandroid backup in Recovery mode there's no option for it. Yes, I have root access. I have the exact same screen as here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/images/f/f8/Ri9000ecovery.jpg
Only these options are available:
reboot
apply update...
wipe data...
wipe cache...
How do I get the nandroid backup option in Recovery mode?
Thirdly.
If I want to make a complete clone of the current state of my phone, to which I can revert if anything goes bad, before flashing different firmware. Which backups should I make... nandroid, efs backup, complete backup in Titanium backup app, backup in ROM manager app?
And lastly, a little help with terminology.
What exactly is nandroid backup - what does nandroid stand for? Why is it different than regular old backup?
What's busybox or better yet what is it used for?
I hope someone will answer these puzzling questions to me for which I'll be forever grateful.
PS: I'll probably have some more questions later.

[Q] ROM Manager question

I am new to this whole rooting thing and have some questions about rom manager and nandroid backup. I have the ROM manager app but have not done the backup yet. My question is if i make a backup with ROM manager is that essentially the same thing as a nandroid backup???
I also have titanium backup and have backed up all my apps and stuff. So if i do load another rom do i use titanium backup to reload the apps that i have after i load the new rom?
my phone was rooted with z4root, i have superuser, have ran titanium backup, and have ROM manager.
EDIT: phone is a moto droid 1
EDIT2:i tried to follow this guide ( im unable to post the link but its on androidpolice forum )
I was able to create an image and then went to make my nandroid backup. i followed the steps and it just booted my phone like normal and didnt create the folder. Do i have to have my phone mounted while doing this? Do i have to do anything to the img files that were created?
EDIT:3 I finally was able to make my nandroid backup. I guess i will look into ROMs now.....
thanks

Always getting MD5 missmatch when restoring Backups..

well, the case is described in the top.line...
I always make the backups in cwm, not in the app.
Don't know whats going on with my note, but i hope one of you does
Thanks in advance
I would like to know this as well, thanks if any one can help.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
mismatch md5
This is an issue commonly associated with more than 1 backup.
Usually when you make a nandroid backup you should create 1 backup of your fully working system with the stuff you want installed and leave it at that.
If you then create further backups and move them or change the backup default date names, this creates problems that result in mismatched md5 when you then try to restore the backup.
Just out of curiosity, did you create more than one backup on your SD, if so i would strongly suggest that this is where the problem has come from.
The solution would be to delete all saved backups from the backup folder, and start from scratch, create 1 backup that you are happy with and leave it at that.
i hope this will help you solve the problem., if it does help please click my thanks.

[SOLVED] Unable to restore sms xml file

Got a problem, could anybody please make any sense?
I had 19k sms messages on my SGS+ and I backed them up with SMS Backup & Restore. Everything went fine. Now, after flashing my device to Ultragen v1.7 Rom, I am not able to restore my messages back. When I try to restore, it shows progress screen approx. to 125/15453 and then suddenly disappears. And I am like what the heck?
The same story with Titanium backup, it does not even starts to restoring xml file.
After that I was looking forward to restore sms&mms from nandroid backup, but the fact is, following tutorial about flashing Ultragen v1.7 ROM there was a stupid point of formating card, so my nandroid backup was destroyed.
What's wrong?
Problem solved. Restoring sms from .xml file completly in one row was not possible in one or another way. But restoring manually one by one each thread was possible via SMS Backup & Restore simply "viewing" backuped file and then restoring every thread.
Maybe this helps for somebody.
