so, i have a german milestone, running a 2.1 serviceable non-branded german rom. the device originally had a vodafone rom.
i checked for updates today and it found an update as available, around 34mb.
i downloaded it via wifi but the update process failed, probably to the vulnerable recovery installed.
so, i've gone back to stock, and i'm trying via cable, but the software update hangs forever in the "reading configuration data". any solution for that?
can anyone else in germany verify if the update appears as available for them too?
l.e: gave up on cable update, trying hsdpa since i have no wifi available nao ; it's caled "update package" and is 32.1mb in size.

any news? anyone?
32mb is quite small for an update like that... but who knows. i've just checked android-hilfe.de and motorola europe group on facebook- none of them telling anything about any update.
@saptemai- which version are you currently running anyways?
this is probably the 2.1-update1 update.
It has to be the 2.1 update-1 Version.
Maybe you haven't applies that Update to your Milestone.
I believe Motorola will announce it in Facebook, etc if Froyo will be available for download any day now.
yup, false alarm, no froyo - still shows 2.1.
however i was already running update1, which doesn't explain exactly what this update package was.
nevertheless, this thread can be closed nao. sorry if i got people's hopes up.
Just so you know, for the false hoping...
Dude we hate you...

Yesterday I saw the news that JPO is starting to spread, along with a new Kies version. So I downloaded the new Kies and installed it. Hooked up my SGS, at that time running official JM1 patch (obtained through Kies a few months ago), and hit the update button.
Kies then showed that the JPO update was supposedly available to me.
Unfortunately, during flashing, something went wrong and I ended up with an incomplete update (the screen went solid-color pale green at one point and nothing more happened after that). Repeated atempts of Recovery after that, as well as Odin ended in similar failure. It looks like I can't run updates from this computer.
I then installed Kies on a different computer and hooked up the SGS there, in Download Mode, and tried to flash JPO (downloaded from the Dev forum here) using Odin. That worked partially - on restart, I only got Recovery mode with an error message, claiming that format of the internal memory failed.
So I downloaded official JM1 and flashed that, and it works.
Now I reconnected to Kies and tried to look for the JPO update on that other computer, but I now get this message:
PDA:JM1 / PHONE:JG6 / CSC:JG7
This device's version cannot be updated.
I'd really like to get me some Froyo now - what files will I need to do this through Odin, reliably?
Froyo probably hasn't started rollout for many carriers yet. And I'm not sure exactly which carriers have begun rollout So I can't help.
did u have lagfix installed ???
So i heard about the 2.3.3 updated for the tab and i decided to check via kies
And knowing (from my SGS) that i have to update first with the old update to get the latest i decided to do that (the one from January or something)
But when i try i get an Error Saying that Kies could not be administrator permission from the Tab
Is this a known problem?
PS: anyone know how to change the language in Kies? i would prefer it in english because it makes it easier to describe problems
some users over at swedroid have some issues with sgs. no solution yet
Sorry. not allowed to post link
So i changed computers (usually do kies updates on my laptop) and its working fine
currently half way though the firmware update
Unable to update via Kies as well
I am getting the same message. States that I do not have the permission of the P1000 device administrator.
Was trying to update an unlocked Euro P1000, using the newest version of Kies and Windows 7 Premium. Also tried to use my XP to do the same, gets stuck on the screen after hitting the update button, or comes back with an "unknown error."
I hate Kies, but am would rather not root and bootload as I'm selling this in the next month or so.
Think I am moving away from Samsung. Love their hardware (have a Galaxy S and Tab), but hate their support and software updating.
Hello,
I can only suggest you to look at Overcome rom in the developers section.
There is an amizing guide explaining you step by step how to upgrade your tab and at the end you'll have a much better 2.3.3 rom than Samsung stock one.
If you still want only Samsung rom stop the update process when it says to install Overcome and you'll end-up with a very clean rooted stock 2.3.3
best solution seems to be a clean install of Kies. Uninstall, clean registry, download new from samsung, install. Kies must be center of gravity when it comes to bugs :/
Alright, maybe I've missed something but I am trying to sync Kies with my Sprint Galaxy Tab. I've searched and tried the suggestions out there but I continue to get "Reconnect the device in Samsung Kies" error message.
I don't see that option anywhere. I have tried multiple launchers including the one stock after factory reset.
Am I missing something obvious? Or is somebody having this problem?
Ideas?
Nobody has any ideas on this? I know it may be a n00b question but surely somebody has run across this.
settings/wireless and network/usb settings
Select Kies Mode, go to your home screen, connect usb cable to pc, run kies

So after a lot of search and a suprisingly difficult find, it appears that the US version of the tablets don't support Kies. At least the Sprint US. I'm curious as to whether I can get the update since I'm no longer subscribed with them.
Thanks for the recommendation, though. I don't even have those options available.
I have a Sprint tab and no services through Sprint. My tablet is rooted, I still get the OTA updates.

I just got a Sprint Tab today myself..
Timanator / All..
What is the latest firmware version?
While I'm running the device as "WiFi Only" (per the initial set up) I was able to snatch two OTA updates..
The build number I'm currently running is 'SPH-P100.EB28'
Is this the newest? When attempting to search for any more updates after that, I was greeted with an error message stating it couldn't connect.. Hopefully that's just what happens when your firmware is up to date.
Thanks

Are you hitting "Update Android" or "Update Firmware."
I wonder what the difference is... When I hit "Update Firmware," it drops off my WiFi and "Update Android" says it's up to date. I'm hoping the "Update Android" is where they'll push the update.
Just as if you - hitting "Update Firmware" leads to it dropping the WiFi. I let it sit for a few minutes and that's when I got connection error message.
Hitting "Update Android" just comes back with a quick "Your system is up to date." screen.
What version firmware are you running? I'm trying to figure out what's the newest version.

Same as you. I will look for a build list.
In the meantime, does anybody else have experience updating their Sprint Tab without a contract or 3G service?
I found one on sprints website and the firmware I posted is the newest one. Basically if you have sprint id, you've got the newest one..
Has anyone managed to update their phone by OTA in the setting, about menu??
If i try to update its just sitting there for a good minute or two, then just times out saying connection problems.. (over wifi, not able to try over 3G)
Ok, maby there's no update to get, but shouldnt the phone state so, not connection problems?
Anyone actually got this feature working?
It works.
I did a OTA update from V10c to V10d 3 weeks ago.
It depends on the day. Sometimes the Update Server seems to be offline and sometime online. I get the message "You have the lates Version" which pops up very fast or "Connection failed" after a few minutes.
No problems here.
Mine just pops up with the usual 'you have the latest version' message
I just get the usually message stating my phone is on the latest version, even though I'm on v10b...
I get a connection fail everytime I try...
I checked now on another wifi (iphone wifi hotspot ) an it works, so apparently there is an issue with my wifi/router...
I have no update option in "About" settings. I searched and saw a thread but no solution on how to get it back. I am on 10b version with 405 baseband from India. Any advice / solution on this
Hi ,
in Italy OTA update works from V10A to V10B.
But V10B on my phone not work fine , It make reboot or freeze my P990.
The new V10C ( beta ) are very good for now
I think there was a similar thread. If you have an unbranded phone you might not be able to use ota as its via a network provider. However you'll more likely get any update quicker via the lg update tool because of this
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
when you check if are avaible an update , the P990 ask you to enable wi-fi
Mine comes up Connection Failed, Authentication problem
In Italy the servers were not working from the beginning of the marketing .
Try again next week
In Bulgaria, whit Vivacom also not working, "authentification error whit the server" every times when i check for new firm...

When I bought this phone here in Brazil
I was shipped with LPA firmware, I could update using my internet connection
I updated to LPD, this was about, three months ago
Now I decided to give LPD a try again, but now that I flashed through Odin, I can't check for updates using 3g anymore, only WiFi
Is there a solution to this??, otherwise I won't be able to use OTA updates anymore...
No matter I resolved it just do a factory reset and everything will go back to normal
BTW there is no more updates to LPD since april, looks like sammy stopped supporting Brazil
Since no updates here so far...
