Hello, is it possible to implement "HTC quietly brilliant" to the standard HTC bootscreen ?
Are the standard bootscreen connected together? (I mean HERO + HTC animations ) or two GIF's side by side?

I'll try to do it alone

they are two single gifs. look in /system/media/bootscreen.
Would be really good if we can apply this, its a really nice bootscreen im bored of the Hero one
i don't think you can use it as a splashscreen. the splashscreen is the very first screen to appear, usually your operator's logo (or the operator who sold the phone, i.e. t-mobile for me). this is a static picture, and can be updated since paul released the hacked spl.
the bootscreen is by default the two androids popping up behind the "hero", and then the sparkling htc logo. this can be replaced. give me two minutes, i'll make you an update.zip...
edit: no luck, the gif somehow doesn't work as a bootscreen. if you could find it in / change it to 320x480 it might work though.
Thanks for having ago, i really dunno where to start with all of this, have you tried changin the size? i dont have a carrier animation as i have MoDaCos rom.

hm, you don't get it. the carrier logo is not animated. it is shown for 40-45 seconds as the first picture when the phone is started. maybe it is the htc's stock picture, the hero writing. it just sits there, then quickly fades out and back in, and then the little androids come out. the moment where it fades is when the splashscreen is changed to the bootscreen. in this case they are just the same picture, except the bootscreen being animated.
the splashscreen can only be a static image.
the bootscreen can be up (or more?) three animated gifs, fullscreen or cropped with another (probably static, didn't test animated) gif for the background. you can loop the last image or just let it sit at the last frame. look into /system/media/bootscreen, and check the contents of the boot_animation.xml, it is pretty self-explainatory.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=582336&highlight=bootscreen
have a look into the stock_bootscreen_nosound.zip, it is the original stock htc bootscreen (not splashscreen!). the bootscreen can be applied via update.zip or adb push, the splashscreen must be written in fastboot mode as it is kind of a "low-level" image presentation. this is also the reason why the image must be rgb565-coded before flashing. on modaco there is a howto for the splashscreen, which needs the modified hboot (also called spl) for the hero just released by paul.
this should do it, hope this helps
edit: i tried changing the size, but somehow the gif looks wired when i open it with gimp, it seems to destroy all the animation timing... should be possible though.
Thanks for explaining all that, GIFs are tricky but very effective, i dont really have time to look into all that u described, but thanks for having a go. I just hope someone that may have more experience with the hero may do it. I dont know where to find a file explorer for the hero on windows.
Thanks
Here ya go. But for some odd reason, it doesn't show up correctly. Dunno why. I just made it into an animated gif with the right size.
tristan it works what you made?
Not exactly. It works fine on the pc, but when put on the phone it flickers. I don't have the knowhow to get it to work, but I thought that if I uploaded the gif, soeone with the wits could fix it.
I am having the same issue, tristan202. I edited and moved the tattoo boot animation ( HERE ) but when flashed to the phone, it gets garbled and looks weird.
I made the animation in Flash CS4.
Anybody know the solution to this?
i wanna usee it hoepfully somebody can make it work
can't delete bootlogo :[
when making the nexus bootscreen i found out that the gif needs to be 255 color indexed mode. 128 colors won't work, for example. what seems to work is to use rgb files, throw them together in gimp, and let it do the indexing automatically when exporting. source material needs to be rgb (at least the first image), otherwise the result will be using the palette of the first image, which will make the rest of the frames look like crap.
This patch is for all versions of root except the 0.3lpv1 (which shouldnt be used at all!) with a recovery image.
DO NOT USE THE GALAXY WALL PAPER, it will make your phone unstable and will require a reboot.
This patch does the following.
Deletes Teeter, and Stocks to make space in the system partition.
Deletes HtcLockScreen to enable Nexus One Lock Screen
Installs live Wall paper.
To use:
Download zip, and place in sdcard.
Boot into recovery.
Select flash from zip.
Flash the lwpupdate.zip.
Reboot phone.
Go to Applications -> Manage Applicatiosn -> HTC Sense
Select Clear Defaults
Press Home button
Select Home from menu.
Press the menu button
Live Wallpapers
Select nexus one wall paper
One it loads, reboot phone for better speed.

Great job, runs better than i expected it to.
but is there any workaround for it to work on sense?
delete please.
Dont even flash on Legendary 1.3.5. Show me bug: "Bad" and installation aborted.

no not until 2.1 official i assume .....maybe someone can get it to run after u put it to sleep???
some do not time out exp the clock one does not time out even after reboot also downloaded some from the market-----living color works (no time out means works)mood papers -fireworks hmmmm I notice that all the ones that have no time out allow settings.
hmmm every single market app I downloaded works it's not a dream live wallpapers work with above method just download them from market or use default clock one
I like the one with the bouncing boobs
nexus mod does not work
Erm...
The download link doesn't seem to be working (even without the spacing)
PM it to me please?

On Defiance 2.1 the lockscreen is working put not the live wallpaper and that's great cause i have been looking for that lockscreen.
EDIT: Live wallpapers work, not in sense but the lockscreen is workingin sense.
Works great for me on HTC Hero, VillainRom 5.0! Only issue is the graphics glitch on lock screen and about 2-3 of the live wallpapers don't run. Very good! Anyone know where I can find the nexus launcher?
Woah this is awesome! It works nicely on the DamagedTrev rom for Sprint Hero!
Not much problems too!
Only things like the glitch on the lock screen, with the time screwed up, volume on top, and lock at the bottom. It looks pretty funny lol
Live wallpaper worked nice with the Nexus wallpaper, but on Home, every time I switch "slides," it the wallpaper freezes and then goes again.
Don't think the live wallpaper thing is such a big problem though, would be nice to get a fix for the lockscreen
Awesome job on this patch!
Yes same problem for me. How can we fix this issue?? Anybody help
I know i want the sexy nexus wallpaper to work too....Im sure someone will hack it further soon...

If only the lockscreens are important for you, then use lockbot app
lockscreen issues are not due to the patch, but due to the ROM. It seems droid eris based ROMs are fine, but the legend and sprint leak based ROMs are screwed up.
SK-ROM Beta 0.3
This beta is now closed, as I am about to launch Magnolia RC1, the first release candidate for this ROM. Thanks to all who have tried out the ROm for their support and input.
Steve
ROM Features:
Based on stock HTC Sense/Froyo OTA v3.26.605.
Uses latest stock HTC kernel to help alleviate battery drain.
"Matte" Sense UI. I completely redid all "shiny" elements of the Sense UI (including green highlights), status bar and HTC apps to make then smoother, more refined and professional looking (IMHO).
Added notification pulldown power widgets, custom skinned by me. Thanks to |||bored|||, dopeshiziot and JSCHiSurf for this.
Apps softkey (left softkey) is mapped to Maxim's AppFolders, a fully customizable app drawer that I have come to depend on, since I first saw it implemented in deficitism's Uncommon Sense. A BIG nod to deficitism for both the idea and the tools to figure out how to do this.
Right softkey mapped to browser (will consider other mappings if there is interest). Thanks to JsChiSurf for the tools to learn how this is done.
Added battery percentage mod and smooth sense icons. Thanks to jercik for these.
Added 6-Bar signal meter. Thanks to deficitism for the tools to learn how this is done.
3-in-1 power menu (reboot option) by snq-
Replaced HTC Car Panel with Google CarHome.
Transparent clock background (flip from HD, for now...) and settings/profile widget backgrounds. Props to HeyItsLou for the inspiration for these.
Made the lockscreen and rosie navbar transparent, and the statusbar pulldown semi-transparent. Thanks to shoey-n for the services.jar mod to allow this.
Slight graphical mods to dialer to make it easier to see and use (IMHO).
All framework and resources images were compressed and optimized to maximize RAM.
Statusbar clock, alarm, debugging and location icons are hidden by default. I have attached Zip files to post #3 to add these back, if desired. Thanks to pardonmyfreedom for the tutorial on how to do this.
Removed what seems to be agreed upon as bloat from the ROM (e.g., Vcast, Footprints, etc.). Other quasi-bloat apps (e.g., VZWBAC, Quickoffice) are in data/app/ and can be uninstalled.
Blue spinning android boot animation from Natemz over at androidcentral.com.
ROM is fully deodexed, zipaligned and rooted.

Known Bugs
For some reason the newest Gmail (2.3.2) won't intall over the version included in Beta 0.3 I posted earlier. Seems that this is not an uncommon problem with various ROMs. I have, as of 11:30 PM EST 12/12/10, uploaded the fixed ROM with the latest Gmail (same download link as before). So, if you are new to the ROM, no worries, the latest version is included. If you already have v0.3 installed, many apologies, but you will need to reflash if you want to have Gmail 2.3.2.
----------------
I have been a member of XDA for a long time, and I recently switched from WM to Android. I have been messing around with some ROMs for my own use over the past month or so, and figured it was time to release a ROM into the wild in hopes that the community can help me make it into something on a higher plane than I can do on my own.
The ROM is based on the stock HTC Sense/Froyo OTA v3.26.605.1 that I pulled from the always excellent virtuousrom.com. By painstakingly analyzing what the wonderful devs on this site have been up to via countless "diff" commands and analyzing smali files until my eyes hurt, I rebuilt/modded the ROMs framework and apps to make the ROM I have been looking for.
I want to state that, while I did my own coding/theming and implemented the features of this ROM slightly differently than the devs I learned them from, I owe ALL of this ROM to those devs' hard work an ingenuity. All I did was learn what they were doing and figure out how to make it work the way I wanted.
I also want to note again that I am very new to cooking (have been a themer mostly) and this ROM is BETA. While I have found it to be stable for my own personal use, I cannot say it will be for you. Therefore, download and flash at your own risk, for I take NO responsibility for what happens to your phone if you install this ROM.
Again, I want to state that I owe all of the devs listed above for their hard work and ingenuity, without which I would not know how to do any of this. If anyone believes I have not credited someone I should have, please shoot me a PM and I will correct my error. Similarly, if I have unintentionally violated acceptable etiquette in any way, please let me know via PM, and I will try to fix the problem.
Install by downloading the ROM to your SD card (or copy it there from PC) and rebooting into recovery, WIPING data and cache (I wipe dalvik cache, as well) and selecting the "install from sdcard" option. It takes a while on the first bootup, so please be patient.
**NB- there have been extensive changes to the framework in version 0.3, so I recommend a full wipe, even if you have 0.2 installed.**
Please enjoy, and I hope to receive your feedback, help and ideas for improvement. I believe this will be the last beta before RC1, unless there is something I am missing
Steve
Changelog
Beta v0.3
I plan this to be the last beta before releasing RC1 under a new, better name. So, please, any bug reports, comments are welcome. Thanks.
Added custom skinned status/notification bar power control widgets. Credits in 1st post.
replaced Ziggy's kernel with latest HTC stock kernel. Didn't feel performance bump was worth battery drain.
Fixed 6-bar signal being limited to only 4-bars. Thanks to |||bored||| for reminding me of this.
Many small framework and resources tweaks.
Beta v0.2
Fixed sync notification animation
Added 6-bar signal meter
Added data/app functionality to allow for uninstalling some apps that might be considered bloat.
Updated gapps.
Added Zip files to post #3 to allow customization of icons shown in status bar.
Reserved
OK. Sorry for the wait. The status bar icon show/hide files are now attached. I tested each briefly, so they should be fine, but nandroid before flashing, just in case.
Steve

Wow! This looks great! Amazing features for a beta at V 0.1 haha. I'm definitely gonna switch from the latest skyraider to this. Thanks for the hard work on this man! Hope to see you around more, hopefully updating this thing of beauty with even more features!
I'm stoked to try this out!! I can't download it from my phone for some reason tho. Can you put a mirror up?
Are there any known bugs?
love the matte look.. will keep an eye on this. how does the call answer lock look like? is it matte also or transparent? any plans on implementing the 6 signal bar? and could you elaborate on the easier to use dialer?

Yep. I am just getting into the services.jar files to see how this is done. Hopefully in a few days I will have it. I would like to learn how it works rather than just copy it over from someone else.

As to the call answer, it's transparent. I was toying with replacing the android guy, but couldn't settle on a picture.
As to the dialer mod, it's just a graphical mod to make the keys and dialing text easier to read. Sorry, should have been clearer...

So far this rom is running great! One minor gripe, about 50% of the time when I unlock the phone, I get the "Sorry, android.mms.apk has force closed" or whatever. I'm sure it can easily be fixed with a patch though, because I've seen a bunch of other MMS fixes on lots of other peoples roms. Other than that this rom is fluid, fast, and very easy on the eyes. Love it.
Is Visual Voice Mail removed from this? I know some people consider it bloat, I consider it essential.
I have been running it for two hours now - working great!
It does have VVM. I use it, too.
As the the mms force close, I have also seen this on other ROM threads, hasn't happened to me on this one, though. Will work on a fix tomorrow. Thanks for pointing that out.

As to the MMS FC issue, may I ask a few questions: Have you tried fixing permissions in recovery? Did you use Titanium backup to restore your text messages? Have you ever had apps installed on your SD card?
Thanks!
Steve
I've never used titanium back up, I've never had apps installed on my sd card, but no i have not tried fixing permissions.
It only did it for the first day or so. It's perfectly fine now. I'll try fixing permissions though.
*Update* 12/20/10: Mammon and a454nova have been kind enough to include my animations in their respective roms so I decided to update those to be generic "Android Froyo" animations so if anyone likes them on some other rom they can use them without confusion
I have the generic supernova up now, the bonsai animation will be up tomorrow as my computer is chugging away slimming down those pngs!
Hey everybody!
Now that we have some good, maturing Froyo ROMs I decided to make a couple of animations for the boot and shutdown processes, despite the fact that the rarity of restarting our phones usually means we're flashing a new ROM or we're having some serious problems!
Here is a boot animation I made for mammon's bonsai4all rom (since this is my daily driver) pretty much just made from some of the awesome wallpapers that he has included in his rom and a sound I mashed together.
Bonsai Boot Preview
Bonsai Generic Boot Preview
Bonsai Boot Sound Preview
Animation for a454nova's SUPERNOVA rom. The preview gif runs kinda poorly in browser (at least in mine)and may take up to 20 seconds to cycle, but the animation on the phone is like 10-12 seconds. Though I would like to, I haven't come up with a sound for this one. This 6 second limit really sucks!1
SuperNova Boot Preview
SuperNova Generic Preview
The shutdown is pretty generic, just wanted something a little more simple. And something with a slightly longer sound since powering down takes so long anyways and that is something of which we can actually extend the length, unlike the Power On sound.
Shutdown Preview
Shutdown Sound Preview
The .zips below are flashable through CWM. Generics are just "Android/Froyo" splash screens and the others are "ROM Name/ROM author" for those specific roms.
Instructions:
-Copy .zip to your SD card
-Flash through CWM like you would anything else
I have tested these on mammon's bonsai4all and that is all I have tried, though I assume (perhaps wrongly) that it should work on any kernel that supports custom animations as long as the boot animation runs from /system/media.
As for the usual disclaimer I am not responsible for anybody jacking up their phones by flashing these files. So flash these at your own risk.
That being said I hope you enjoy them!

Thanks! The vector text was all made in adobe illustrator and compositing and fx were done in after effects. I am interested in learning flash though to see if it is quicker to produce a similar product but in a more streamlined fashion.
leatherneck, are you creating your animations at 30 fps? And what resolution are you running at? I feel like flash might be able to handle vector animation better than what I am using and wonder how it is handled in flash (i.e. can you render at any resolution you like or is it just Full, half, third or quarter of maximum)?

I have found the most success at 24 fps but setting desc.text to run at 96 fps. Using flash I am able to render at full 480 by 800. Flash can also output to png (1 png for each frame). If you want we could work together on creating a flash version.

I updated the OP with some generic splash screens for the animations for anybody using ROMs besides those two
Hi guys,
[Warning: This will be of interest to a very small ammount of OCD people. I am one of those people]
This is a small (very small) project I've been working on for the past few days. Let me give you some background:
When I first saw renders of the HTC Sensation, I thought "Damn, that's a sweet wallpaper. I want it bad." When the Sensation's ROM dump came out, I immediately applied the default Sense 3.0 wallpaper... and it looked terrible.
Let me explain: we all know the HD2's screen has a limitation in colors that makes most images look different. But also, if you're using a Sense-based ROM like I am, if you apply a wallpaper through the gallery there's no dithering applied to the image. That's a technical way of saying you get badass color banding. So not only were the Sensation wallpaper's colors completely off, it was banded very badly.
So, how to fix this? You move the wallpaper to HTC's default wallpaper folder. But if you apply an image through that folder as-is, it gets shrunk, so the image has to have a frame to display it properly.
So basically, after going back and forth between reference images of the Sensation, Photoshop Pro and my phone's screen, I have:
1. Properly framed the image so that, when it's moved into HTC's default wallpaper folder (System/Customize/Resource/htc_wallpaper_03.jpg) it displays properly
2. Tuned the image to suit our phone's resolution
3. Tweaked the colors so that they display on our phone's screens to closely mirror the colors displayed by the HTC Sensation with the same image. When you view this image on your computer, it will look wrong, but when you apply it through the HTC wallpaper gallery and compare it with reference images to the HTC Sensation it is almost a perfect copy. Believe me, I've spent hours on this because it bugged me so much. Give it a try and see for yourself.
So if you've made it this far, you're probably as detail oriented as me and wondering how to apply this correctly.
1. Download the file to your phone
2. Through a rooted file manager, cut the file and paste it into system/customize/resource, in the process overwriting HTC's third default wallpaper. Why? Because it's dog ugly.
3. On your homescreen, hit menu, Wallpaper, then HTC wallpapers. Scroll to the third wallpaper. The image in the gallery will still be the HTC default, but hit preview and apply it.
4. Enjoy!
It's not perfect, but it's the best we can do with the HD2's color limitations.
This file is free for everyone to use and devs can include it in ROMs if they want.
Cheers,
Zuka
You're right Zuka, that is anal (but I like you for it ) Sort of attention to detail that makes all the difference - good work Now, if you could just resize all of the Sense 3.0 widgets and fix the graphics glitches...
I wish I was that good, but I'm going to have to leave that to more capable minds. This wallpaper is my gift to all of those that saw the Sensation/Evo3D and thought they looked cool, though
quiet lovely
It looks great, I love it!!
I should say thanks!!
many thanks, i need!
My HD2 sure very nice.
great! many thanx!! it looks great!
I'm glad you guys like it, happy to have been a help. Should tide us over until the Sensation is out/becomes affordable. Consider it a transitional phase
great, I love Sensation
It looks great man !
it is just like in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033234
I hadn't actually seen that post before, but it looks like me and you came to the same conclusion - if you tweak saturations here and there you get a much better image on the HD2's panel
The difference was, you could write a program to do it, I had to spend hours and hours doing it by hand cause i can't
Do I have to flash with cwm. I'm sorry I'm new .
No no, you don't need to use CWM at all. Use a rooted file manager (RootExplorer is my favourite, you can find it on the market for three dollars) and place the HTC_wallpaper_03.jpg file into the folder "system/customize/resource", click ok to overwrite, then apply the wallpaper from the homescreen

ok.i can write a programm, actually i already wrote it.but i will no share it because i done it for whole rom and it is not complete because after applying programm on rom it have some glitches.but i can share version that do automatically processing pictures only whitout reenginering apk, if you want it of course.
Just in case somebody's using this wallpaper with a Gingerbread build, the dithering is automatically applied through the gallery in 2.3.
So you don't have to go through all of the copy and pasting to get it non-color banded, you can just apply it from your home screen or the gallery itself. Happy wallpapering.
You are appreciated!
Thank you BIG time, its aggravating these walls are not just made available to us...I lost my original default screen wallpaper on this unlocked T-mobile Sensation, (its a geometric linear thing that I just like & when it disappeared I tried call HTC, but they said they could not find it in their gallery & could not send it to me, (what, really!!?) That was a bite, then I rummaged all over Google & every Android community I could find for 2 days until some one took pity & posted it on xda. Spent hours last nite & today trying to crop it right because HTC's crop just butchers it tried paint.net crops & resize still looks lacking in some detail, even just now tried the phones camera shot of my laptop screen under a black throw to mute the glare(3rd attachment) will attache in case you have time/interest to help or in case you want send me a better one(?) (Last attached photo os from HTC Sensation 4G advertisement showing home screen)
This is very nice looking
