Hi guys,
[Warning: This will be of interest to a very small ammount of OCD people. I am one of those people]
This is a small (very small) project I've been working on for the past few days. Let me give you some background:
When I first saw renders of the HTC Sensation, I thought "Damn, that's a sweet wallpaper. I want it bad." When the Sensation's ROM dump came out, I immediately applied the default Sense 3.0 wallpaper... and it looked terrible.
Let me explain: we all know the HD2's screen has a limitation in colors that makes most images look different. But also, if you're using a Sense-based ROM like I am, if you apply a wallpaper through the gallery there's no dithering applied to the image. That's a technical way of saying you get badass color banding. So not only were the Sensation wallpaper's colors completely off, it was banded very badly.
So, how to fix this? You move the wallpaper to HTC's default wallpaper folder. But if you apply an image through that folder as-is, it gets shrunk, so the image has to have a frame to display it properly.
So basically, after going back and forth between reference images of the Sensation, Photoshop Pro and my phone's screen, I have:
1. Properly framed the image so that, when it's moved into HTC's default wallpaper folder (System/Customize/Resource/htc_wallpaper_03.jpg) it displays properly
2. Tuned the image to suit our phone's resolution
3. Tweaked the colors so that they display on our phone's screens to closely mirror the colors displayed by the HTC Sensation with the same image. When you view this image on your computer, it will look wrong, but when you apply it through the HTC wallpaper gallery and compare it with reference images to the HTC Sensation it is almost a perfect copy. Believe me, I've spent hours on this because it bugged me so much. Give it a try and see for yourself.
So if you've made it this far, you're probably as detail oriented as me and wondering how to apply this correctly.
1. Download the file to your phone
2. Through a rooted file manager, cut the file and paste it into system/customize/resource, in the process overwriting HTC's third default wallpaper. Why? Because it's dog ugly.
3. On your homescreen, hit menu, Wallpaper, then HTC wallpapers. Scroll to the third wallpaper. The image in the gallery will still be the HTC default, but hit preview and apply it.
4. Enjoy!
It's not perfect, but it's the best we can do with the HD2's color limitations.
This file is free for everyone to use and devs can include it in ROMs if they want.
Cheers,
Zuka
You're right Zuka, that is anal (but I like you for it ) Sort of attention to detail that makes all the difference - good work Now, if you could just resize all of the Sense 3.0 widgets and fix the graphics glitches...
I wish I was that good, but I'm going to have to leave that to more capable minds. This wallpaper is my gift to all of those that saw the Sensation/Evo3D and thought they looked cool, though
quiet lovely
It looks great, I love it!!
I should say thanks!!
many thanks, i need!
My HD2 sure very nice.
great! many thanx!! it looks great!
I'm glad you guys like it, happy to have been a help. Should tide us over until the Sensation is out/becomes affordable. Consider it a transitional phase
great, I love Sensation
It looks great man !
it is just like in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033234
I hadn't actually seen that post before, but it looks like me and you came to the same conclusion - if you tweak saturations here and there you get a much better image on the HD2's panel
The difference was, you could write a program to do it, I had to spend hours and hours doing it by hand cause i can't
Do I have to flash with cwm. I'm sorry I'm new .
No no, you don't need to use CWM at all. Use a rooted file manager (RootExplorer is my favourite, you can find it on the market for three dollars) and place the HTC_wallpaper_03.jpg file into the folder "system/customize/resource", click ok to overwrite, then apply the wallpaper from the homescreen

ok.i can write a programm, actually i already wrote it.but i will no share it because i done it for whole rom and it is not complete because after applying programm on rom it have some glitches.but i can share version that do automatically processing pictures only whitout reenginering apk, if you want it of course.
Just in case somebody's using this wallpaper with a Gingerbread build, the dithering is automatically applied through the gallery in 2.3.
So you don't have to go through all of the copy and pasting to get it non-color banded, you can just apply it from your home screen or the gallery itself. Happy wallpapering.
You are appreciated!
Thank you BIG time, its aggravating these walls are not just made available to us...I lost my original default screen wallpaper on this unlocked T-mobile Sensation, (its a geometric linear thing that I just like & when it disappeared I tried call HTC, but they said they could not find it in their gallery & could not send it to me, (what, really!!?) That was a bite, then I rummaged all over Google & every Android community I could find for 2 days until some one took pity & posted it on xda. Spent hours last nite & today trying to crop it right because HTC's crop just butchers it tried paint.net crops & resize still looks lacking in some detail, even just now tried the phones camera shot of my laptop screen under a black throw to mute the glare(3rd attachment) will attache in case you have time/interest to help or in case you want send me a better one(?) (Last attached photo os from HTC Sensation 4G advertisement showing home screen)
This is very nice looking

Hello everyone! New to the forums here and JUST rooted my Aria over the weekend. In my personal way of giving back I'd like to make available this sweet Omnislash live wallpaper I put together. In order to use the wallpaper, you need the app LWP Creator from the app store. If you can't find it in the app store for what ever reason you can alternatively navigate to this webpage:
http://www.simproduction.com/lwpcreator.html
on your phones browser. Then click the link ownload me (Android only link)
This will take you to the application in the market. Download and Install.
Next you'll need to download my Omnislash folder which simply contains the live wallpaper frame by frame in .png format. You can download that here:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/orzyp29tk2w2rd9/omnislash.zip
After you download the folder, unzip it and move it to your phone's SD Card.
I recommend putting it in the Download folder on the SD Card to make it easy to find but you can put it anywhere you like.
Once it's on your SD Card disconnect your phone from your computer and let the SD Card remount on the phone. Then, on the main screen on your phone, tap and hold on any blank area. As if you were adding a widget or application, and scroll down to wallpapers on that menu.
Then scroll down to live wallpapers at the bottom of the next menu. If you don't see the live wallpapers option the livewallpapers.apk is not installed on your phone. If you need help installing that just post, I or someone here will help you.
In the live wallpapers you should see an option called LWP Creator. If you do not see this option you do not have the LWP Creator app installed (See above). If you do have the app installed, tap the LWP Creator. There should be some yellow text on the screen talkin some nonsense about folder paths. Ignore that.
Tap settings on the bottom right. In this menu make sure "Sd card?" is checked which it should be by default. Then tap folder path just below it. Navigate to where you put the Omnislash folder on your SD Card. After you find the folder, tap it.
You should now see several files named 01.png 02.png 03.png etc... Select the third option on the bottom of the screen called select all. There should now be a red X next to all of the png files. Now tap Submit, the left option.
It will now take you back to the main settings screen. Here you can edit the framerate of the wallpaper and the Placement and Sizing. I just set the frame rate to 60 fps and that looks nice. It still looks nice on lower frame rates and lower framerates are more battery efficient.
Then on the Placement and Sizing option, select Middle (No resizing). After setting the options tap the back button on the phone and you should see the animation playing! If so tap the set wallpaper button on the bottom left and watch as Cloud Strife rapes face behind all your awesome apps. If you didn't see the animation you did something wrong and need to read all this again -.-
I hope who ever uses this enjoys it, I know I do. And thanks again for all the people that helped me make my Aria as awesome as it should be,
Enjoy!!!
Here is a link to the video I used to make the wallpaper. The wallpaper plays from 1:02 to the end of the video. It does not include the little screen that the person put in that video if you happen to see that when you click at 1:02...

Since no one has commented id like to be the first to say that its amazing great job i just wish there was a way the images could fit the whole screen

First off, thanks for the reply! I was beginning to think there were no FF7 fans on here... heresy I know... Secondly, it does in fact hit the whole screen! Return to the LWP Creator via the method explained above. When you enter the settings screen, look for a scaling option. I made the wallpaper to fit perfectly in landscape mode, I'm guessing it's not fitting because you use your phone in portrait mode, I still have all of the original files, I guess I can also upload a portrait version, will post a link soon. Thanks again for enjoying it!
Ugh, nevermind... Sorry, but resizing the video for portrait mode makes it stretch in an ugly way. It's basically the same as the normal wallpaper viewed in portrait mode, only stretched vertically a bit more, still has black bars on the top and bottom... Unless you REALLY want it I'm going to hold off on making it...
If you're using CM6, R01, you could do what I do and use the phone in constant landscape mode. The ADW allows for the actions on upswipe and down swipe motions on the screen. I have my phone set to only 1 home screen, so no scrolling.
Then, I have the 5 ADW action buttons over on the right, they also have no background and look very nice. (click link for pic!)
http://www.mediafire.com/i/?0e42r757wh26xsu
Then when I slide down, those 5 disappear and 5 new ones appear with the faded black on the right. (click link for pic!)
http://www.mediafire.com/i/?9p09c9d6con9297
Then sliding up on the home screen brings up my app drawer. (click link for pic!)
http://www.mediafire.com/i/?khy9fg14x56gldg
Also, I have the Power management widget with a transparent background off to the left. This setup makes it very easy to get to any of my apps without the need of multiple home screens, plus, the omnislash LWP looks amazing. I'm also running dumfuq's OC kernel at 806Mhz. This runs the wallpaper incredibly well, (plus it allows for 100% super nintendo emulation with sound! (doesn't help with PSX very much though -.-)) Check out these pics!
I really hope people, especially FF fans, check this out. From one fan to another, this came out REALLY well, and it's by far the best final fantasy wallpaper out there, and believe me, I checked...
Also, if you're feeling particularly lazy... feel free to post a youtube URL along with the start and stop times of a live wallpaper you'd like and I'd be happy to get it for you. They will be formatted to work with the LWP Creator app with the instructions provided in the first post. Try to pick short clips, for example, the omnislash wallpaper is about a minute long, the LWP Creator allows for 300 total frames, this allowed the video to be about 9.5 frames per second. The shorter the video, the more FPS, more FPS, the better it looks.
I look forward to your requests!
Yea i use my phone in portrait mode but no prob man i love the wallpaper.

Good job, this works well. =)
can u make one of the live wallpaper on the htc flyer.. send your replly at my email..

hey, this is very cool. great job! love seeing creativity!
I know there was another thread similar to this, but this is getting kind of annoying. Android seems to assume that your device is portrait and when setting up wallpaper, this is apparent. The majority of wallpaper I've tried have been cut off one way or another, most annoyingly is the one I wanted to try today. Absolutely unusable.
http://content.wallpapers-room.com/...com___Matte_Wide_by_SaizenMedia_1680x1050.jpg
When I saved the image, looks perfect. When setting it up for wallpaper, the sides looked to be cut off, no problem. That's tolerable. When I actually applied, I barely got the top half of the image.. lol
I know android isnt really built for tablets just yet, but there has to be a better way.. if someone has an idea and I have to write an app for it myself, I'll do it... lol I can't be the only one bothered by this.
Actually i kind bothered with a similiar question.. i read wallpapers should have 1024x600.. then i made some of my own. NOW i cant apply them. Stupid androind always asks me to crop them, so they look horrible. Dont know how to apply a simple wallpaper. Anoying...
Thank goodness it's not just me!
Was having the same issue, but thought it was just me. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why all of my images looked borked up whenever selected as wallpaper.
Download multipicture live wallpaper from the market. I use this and am now able to see high res wallpapers in their entirety. You can set it up so that each time you swipe between home pages a different photo is shown but I just have one photo as my background.
I really have searched alot for this answer. I run a CyanogenMod based ROM on my HD2. When I go to select a wallpaper there are four options; Wallpapers, Live wallpapers, Gallery and CyanogenMod Wallpapers.
Ignoring the live ones for a moment, when I select a Wall from the Wallpapers or CyanogenMod I'm not asked to resize/crop it and I get a lovely sharp Wallpaper on my Home screen.
Selecting a Gallery image I am asked to resize/crop it, even if it is already the correct 960x800 resolution. And no matter what I do the resulting image that appears on my home screen has lost lots of detail.
Thinking some redundant rescaling might be happening, and considering the original sources of the walls were higher resolution anyway, I made bigger images which still had the correct aspect ratio. I was hoping they would retain more detail but no, it's like the images are sized down to a resolution below 960x800 and then scaled up for displaying on the home screen losing detail in the process.
The quality drop is nothing like what Sense used to do on WinMo, it's quite subtle, but it's definitely there.
Anyone else experienced this, any solutions
Note. I've also tried Nexus One based ROMs on the phone and got same result.
The remedy you're looking for is called "Wallpaper Set & Save" and is available on the Market for free.
Make sure though that your Wallpaper is in a 4:3 aspect ratio (640x480, 960x800) and you can set wallpapers in full quality.
As far as I can tell, pretty much everyone who in some way customizes his mobile phone is using this piece of software.
Hope that helps
Wallpaper Set and Save in the market.
Cheers guys, that worked like a charm
CAn someone upload it here .. CAnnot found on market .. mini pro.
Had it b4 but cant seem to find the link
Is the a way to make wall papers fit to the screen? Changing the wildfire not the wallpaper?
Ive tried using adw launcher and disabled scrolling wallpaper, however when i select an images for the wallpaper it gets slightly distorted, like its being put across the 7 sense screens. Is there a way to stop this?
Nb. This is My first post regarding my new Htc wildfire, I've search for an answer to this but couldn't find one. A quick thankyou to all those devs working with this device.
I do not know exactly what you mean, but I would recommend the app: Wallpaper set and save. If you have a picture or a wallpaper you have downloaded, just open the app, choose what wallpaper you want, and BAAM great quality. Not compressed or anything like when you use the one in the ROM.
This has nothing to do with development.
Images need to be in 480x320, but being so hard to look around in the BIG THREAD NAMED WALLPAPERS FOR WILDFIRE, you needed to open a topic IN THE WRONG AREA!!!

Sorry if I didn't make myself myself clear, ...let me clarify my original post
I'm using adw.launcher and have a single home screen, on a a stock (rooted) rom containing sense.
The physical screen size of the wildfire is 230 x 320.
I'd like to be able to use a image which is 230 x 320, and have it fit to the single home page, without being distorted.
As i said in my original post i've searched for an answer. but i have also looked through the wallpaper threads
I guess something could be done to sense or adw which (not the wall paper) would stop the scrolling and allow image size of 230 x340 applied without distorting. So, I put my question within the dev sub-forum to see if the there was a way to do this...
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
all the launchers have the option to turn off wallpaper scrolling.
wallpapers that i use that aren't distorted are usually, 320x480, 480x960.
Where can I get some high resolution gtab wallpapers? What resolution do I need?
It seems like you'll want 1024x1024 since the device can be rotated. I just did a Google Image search with 1024x1024 as the parameters and found all kinds of stuff. I just got my tablet yesterday but it seems like it's working well.
You should try my new "Bouncing Clock" Live Wallpaper that I just stuck on the market today!! I'm loving it on my G-Tab and Nexus One right now.

Best advice right here.
If you find they look blurry on your GTab, search the market for an app called "Wallaby".
Also Solar Wind and 3D Starfield are downright purdy live wallpapers that run smooth as silk on the Gtab.

Good advice on Wallaby! I just grabbed it tried a couple of wallpapers and it definitely helps.
Ok, I am beyond frustrated. I am rooted w/Vegan and had zero issues doing that...but getting a wallpaper to actually look like it is suppossed to on my g tab...well that is a completly diffeerent story. I have tried the 1024 x 1024 as well as the 1024 x 600 options. But everytime I find an image I like from google, open it, hold down to bring up the dialogue box to "set as wallpaper" it takes the image and blows it up! It never looks like the image I found from google. I have also saved them to the gallery thinking that the cropping would help. Well, no dice! What am I missing? What am I doing wrong? I am bored by the plain color backgrounds that came with the Vegan rom...can anyone help? Thanks!

^^^^ Multipicture Live Wallpaper (app) allows you to set wallpapers properly. Thanks to Shadowhawk2020 for bringing this app to my attention. Even Wallaby did not work properly, so MLW is the only way I know of to set wallpapers properly on the gtab.
EDIT: OP - try seaching the market for HD wallpapers and Filke HD wallpapers.
EDIT2: Check this post out for what sounds like another app to help get wallpapers scaled properly: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13117070&postcount=361
Flick Ur Pics = Beautiful Wallpapers on Gtablet!

When you go into your wallpapers in flick ur pics, tap on the image you want on screen 1 first and a little #1 will show up on the thumbnail image. Same for screens 2 and 3. Screens 4 and 5 if you have them. I you assign more images than screens you have available it will rotate through them in order when you swipe from screen to screen.
EDIT: It seems that I told you wrong above. I assumed that was the way it worked. I had only 2 images assigned in mine and image 1 would show on my center screen, while image 2 would display on all other panels. When I just tried what I told you above, it randomized the images displayed for the individual screen backgrounds. What I mentioned above may be a good feature request to ask of the dev.
EDIT #2: I have sent developer an email regarding this and have pointed him to this thread. Hopefully he will respond soon, either via email or by dropping in on us here. It would be nice to have him here with us to find our specific needs for our tablets.

Hi All,
I'm Francesco, one of the Flick ur Pics developers
I'm glad to join you in this great forum.
Flick ur Pics allows to choose up to 9 images from your gallery and it shows a random picture when you change homescreen (or when elapse the refresh time, if selected).
Actually you can't set exactly an image for each home screens (i.e.: image1 in the homescreen #1, image2 in the homescreen#2), but we already investigated this feature and if there's a strong request, we'll be more than happy to add it as soon as possible.
Best,
Francesco

Why only 9? I have a collection of hundreds of images that I would like to use, and would hate to be stuck to only 9. Especially since I can't get multipicture live wallpaper to install, so your app seems to be the only option I have.

Hi Francesco,
Im very interested in the one wallpaper per page. I have brought this up in another thread as well. Someone had told me to try flick ur pic but I too found it wasnt setup this way. I think there are a lot of people who are looking for this feature. It works best when you have pages set for certain things. Like a movie page, a games page, a news page, and etc. That would be AWESOME!

Francesco, so glad you could join us. I am sure you will find lots of people here in the gTab forum with several ideas to make Flick ur pics the best wallpaper app for this tablet. I am yet another that would love the ability to set images per screen. Of course you already knew that from my email.
Once again, really glad that you decided to join us. We are glad to have an active flick ur pic dev willing to take the time to get involved with the gTab community.

This is what I’m doing for a landscape orientation with a wallpaper that correctly "scrolls" from left to right and is not distorted or zoomed in on (NON HONEYCOMB ROMs ONLY!!!):
Fist download and install the app "Wallpaper Slideshow" from the market (free). You’ll use that to set the wallpaper (or wallpapers, as it will automatically switch between multiple at intervals you desire. If you want it to show just a single wallpaper, just put that single picture in the folder you tell it to read wallpapers from.
Your wallpaper’s resolution should be: 2048 x 600. To be clear that's a width of 2048 and a height of 600. You may have to crop, pad and/or otherwise resize your image.
Using Wallpaper Slideshow lets you use landscape images in their native resolution (aka not cropped) that are scrollable. Wallpapers in portrait orientation are zoomed in on the center of the image and are scrollable as well.
Setting the same 2048 x 600 wallpaper via the Android (2.3.7) interface does the opposite: portrait looks clear and is scrollable, but landscape must be cropped and is displayed zoomed in, usually off center and extra pixilated. Since I primarily use my tablet in Landscape mode I think I’d rather have the landscape wallpaper looking sharp and clear.
Other apps allow you to set non cropped/zoomed images of the Gtab’s native resolution of 1024 x 600 but usually don’t have any options allowing them to be easily “scrollable”. Wallpapers that don’t have any transaction effects look stale and desktop-y, IMO.
I’m using Cyanogenmod 7.1 RC, but everything should work the same on other non-honey-comb ROMs.
You can use images with a width resolution that's smaller than 2048 and the app will still set them up as scrollable. However, it will zoom in on them the further and further you get from 2048, making them look more and more pixelated.
One more thing, if you have USB storage turned on and you images are on your SD card (internal/external) your wallpaper may not rotate or scroll correctly. Once you turn it off they’ll be fine.
Pics show the same image file as the wallpaper.
