[Q] Market Problems On Orange Galaxy S - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
One friend here in the office got a new Galaxy S from Orange here in spain. He wanted to go to 2.2 so I flashed the latest JPU. After that everything worked fine _but_ the market, cleared cache, wiped the phone many times, but still nothing. I flashed the last Doc Rom that said It had a market fix but with no luck. I flashed then JP7 and had the same problem, wiped, cleared cache, forced close, _everything_ but nothing seems to help. So I'm out of ideas.
The problem on the market is that I can see everything paid and non-paid applications, but when I click the download I got the download arrow in the task bar for a brief moment, and then it goes away, but nothing gets downloaded.
Anyone can give me any hint please?...
Regards,

Sound like you do not have a cache partion (you didnt flash a csc file when you flashed jpu and you clicked repartition). Same thing happened to me, took me a while to figure it out, if you look at your event logs you will see that it tries to download but fails with a lack of memory. Flash back to a normal full build ie JPO with repartition then flash back to JPU without repartion clicked, that what i did. im not sure if you can just flash a CSC file, cant see any reason why not but am unsure.

Wow
Thanks for your help, I'm going to flash: I9000XXJPO, I was using PIT 512, to flash this JPO that pid is ok? and then I'll go to JPU if my friend whats to keep playing with the phone
Again, thank you

when you flash a rom if its not a full image with a csc then flash with no repartition. A 512 pit file will be o.k for jpu

Is it normal for T model, or you just use weird and dangerous settings for fun?
Wiping EFS can lead to test-imei number and broken product code. Be sure you haver a backup of that folder before wiping that.
criskelo... I tried this and I didn't get anywhere :/
I had the same issue and it took me 2 hours to resolve (with a lot of pain, lol).
I've simply flashed the XWJM8 version using odin 1.3, no pit file and HENCE no repartition ticked.
It then booted to recovery console, because there was another error (can't remember which one cause I was too excited).
Anyway I did a wipe, cash clear and reformat SD card at the menu and let it boot.
After that I have flashed the latest version XXJPY also without PartitionInformation Table. (PIT). Then all the wipe and format stuff again.
I have now to go from scratch to setup anything again, but hey, at least my phone is alive again.
Some additional info. I also had that connection symbol on the screen with exclamation mark and triangle....so I thought I was done (due to trials with pit 512 which hung), but after removing battery and some trials I was able to enter download mode again....
Why happened that? I DON'T KNOW! I simply wanted to reflash the XXJPY stock rom, this time with pit512 and it lead to the topic of this thread!!!
This su**ed a lot, I didn't even modify something before!!!!
So: Less is even more! Don't fiddle with EFS and bootloader options it worked for me even without a pit!
Thanks to sardor for the initial idea, the XWJM8 seems to be a fixing rom for that when used properly, anyway to load a pit without to tick repartition is not a useful setting!
Well I was a long time reader at this great forum, IMHO the best regarding phone stuff, because there is the most useful knowledge shared.
I hope my first post will save other phones as well from sending it to repair.
Thanks I'm happy again..(let's see how long it'll last..lol...)
bricked my samsung galaxys and recoverd it
Hi I had exact same problem I totally bricked my i9000 Australian Optus version
I used
I9000DTJG4 firmware Australian Optus
With pit 512
And odin3 v1.3
Got all the files from
samfirmware . com / WEBPROTECT - i9000 . htm
Had to sign up but it’s free
However following criskelo's advice I unchecked the re partion box in odin
Even though the site above tells u to check it
And it worked
Thanks for everyone’s help on this thread.
Without you I would have had an expensive paper waited
Also the reason I got here in the first place as because I messed around with lag fix in clockwork recovery when I don’t know anything about it.
I was lucky this time but it’s really not worth playing around with things you doing understand.

Awesome, thanks buddy! I have spent too much time trying to fix this phone and it all totally pays off now!
Here is the fix for the Bell firmware:
Background info: I orginally tried the Lagfix and bricked my phone, this is how I finally fixed it...
1. Using Odin v1.82
Put Phone in download mode
Use PDA: I9000UGJH2
Use Phone: Modem.bin
(both files came from samfirmware, I9000UGJH2 download)
Use: 512.pit(also from samfirmware at the bottom of the i9000 page)
Check Re-Partition, Auto-reboot, F. reset time, phone EFS clear and Phone bootloader update. I know everyone above says don't but I tried their way first and it didn't work, I would recommend you do try their way first and if no results try mine.
2. Using Odin v1.82
Put Phone in download mode
Use PDA: I9000UGJL2
Use 803.pit
Check only Auto-reboot, F. reset time
Good luck! I hope you do your happy dance like I did!!

Just thought I would add to what got my phone back running again after having the Can't mount DBDATA error. It's a bell I9000M.
Used Odin 1.3 , Flashed Darky's resurection per his instructions pulled battery once complete, went back into download mode and flashed stock JL2 with Odin , re-partition un-checked and no Pit file and after that my phone was running again.
You can find Darky's Resurection Here!
Can not find the link for the JL2 stock rom but it's in the general section somewhere.
the xxjpu version worked for me
tlick repartition
add 512 pit
tick and add pda
tick and add modem
tick and add csc
go to download mode
connect usb
press start

Hey guys, I've read the above posts but frankly it's above my skill.
Some how I ended up with the same message that the OP got.
Can someone walk me through the steps to completely fix my phone and get it back to bone stock?
I'm not familiar with PIT and other files. I need someone to hold me hand on this one...

[Q] Odin flash update fail

Help please
I have a Galaxy i9000 (UK) unfortunately like many others I decided to use the latest Kies software it went through the upgrade to froyo 2.21 however I had not removed Ryan lagfix or unrooted the phone first.
Now any efforts to reflash fails at the last stage giving error message "Complete (write) operation failed" and the phone will not reboot
Pit and Re-partition works and states "pass" I have tried everything I know and followed lots of other thread suggestions (probably to make it worse)
Thank you in advance for anyone that has the answer, I am not technical enough to play around with any indepth reprogramming so simple answers please
Do a clean flash with an eclair firmware like JM8 with 512 pit and repartition ticked. After flashing go to recovery and do a factory reset and a cache wipe... Have you tried this?
You can also try to format the internal sdcard if its not working and you have a backup of your data.
Or try jpc it is allways a safe bet (for ex. from samfirmware repartition with pit)
Happened often u can fix it no problem ;-) don't be afraid
Sent from my A101IT using Tapatalk
Thank you
Thank you very much for the JPC suggestion, after a long and painful download 9 I am using a 3G dongle as i am away from home) I managed to firstly flash the Samfirmware.com JPC file using the 803 Pit, using Odin 1.7 and all 3 files, with re-partition ticked - it failed however it did manage to restore the Galaxy start screen
I then unticked re-partition and removed the Pit file and reflashed the 3 files and it finally loaded successfully. after 5 days of trying everything I now have a factory reset phone, hopefully my back ups will work if not I am still really happy so thank you both
JPC update
Good morning guys
I have reconnected to Kies and get the message "this version of the device cannot be updated"
I have just tried to flash I9000XWJS5 without success,
at this stage I should be happy that my phone works again however it would be good to get 2.21 if possible as the standard version lag still drives me crazy
the internal Sd has been reformatted, reset to factory default, wiped user data etc. meesages are either same as before "write fail" or when successful phone wont turn back on.
Do I need a different version for the UK - with O2?
Thanks again in advance
I know you just got over a hairy situation with your phone but I would suggest the Odin and Samfirmware route. I am currently running XWJS5 installed through Odin and it is pretty snappy.
Just be sure not to tick "re-partition", that's what worked for me.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S blank screen while booting

I have checked other similar threads before posting, but I couldn't find anything helpful.
I had a stock 2.1 Eclair then updated to FroYo through Kies a couple of days ago (firmware JPA). Then I applied the voodoo lagfix through Odin and everything was working fine. Today I tried to install CF-Root using Odin. It went fine and my phone rebooted but then it went into a blank screen after the booting animation/sound.
I CAN boot into both recovery and download modes but I'm a little bit confused on what to do now. Should I flash a new firmware or is there any thing else that I could do to fix this. And if I have to flash a new firmware, which version do you recommend (I prefer stock 2.2.1 Samsung firmware, preferably ones for the Middle East so they would have Arabic support).
Thanks in advance
Just a little update. I flashed a new firmware (XWJPA), it went fine and rebooted then came up with the recovery menu with an error message that the /dev/block/stl10 can't be mounted. I tried to wipe stored data (not internal SD card) and rebooted it. Now it goes into the same blank screen but keeps vibrating randomly!!
Any suggestions?
your dbdata is corrupted. i think JM5 or JM8 contains it...
i had this problem recently,, i flashed darkys 9.2 resurrection thru odin (that contains dbdata) and that fixed my problem...

Can anyone confirm which one has dbdata, JM5 or JM8? I currently have a very slow internet connection and downloading both would take a lot of time.
Also could anyone explain the reason it got corrupted?
Thanks for your help
I flashed JM5 and now my phone boots fine again. Later I tried to flash JS5 but I got the same problem again! What am I doing wrong? And which is the latest stable firmware that I should flash to?
Don't tick repartition in odin when you upgrade to JS5
Thanks for the quick reply. The update went fine

Soft bricked N7000. How to?

Tried everything I could with Odin and phone still stuck in a start loop.
I was downgrading from checkROM to official firmware ZSLA2 with CWM (I wanted to keep ROOT, so I selected "Keep CF-Root kernel") due to stability issues, after restarting the phone got into the start loop.
I flashed with Odin official ZSLA2 with the same result (looped start). I flashed XXKKA (again looped start). During the flashing process, Odin says the flashing was successful. By the way, both ROMS are tar.md5 files.
I tried to remove the battery for over 30 minutes and charge it for 2 hours, tried re-partition in Odin (it's my understanding that with a stock rom, it creates a clean installation), but Odin fails to start the process.
What else can I do?
I am sorry if this has previously asked, but I've been searching for over 2 hours and nothing similar came. Somebody mentioned to use a PIT file in addition, but the other person who got his phone soft bricked didn't solve the problem either. As downloading a ROM is time consuming and I've got many problems with upload sites in china (cannot access to most of them), I would thank any help in regards this issue.
Sounds like your kernel isn't talking properly to your ROM.
A fresh start is your best bet. Flash a stock rom and kernel from Odin and reroot it with CF-Root.
What files are you putting into Odin? There should be a total of 4.
I'd also avoid the use of a .pit file. I haven't even seen the mention of one in all my time on the Note forum. I really don't think Samsung uses them the way they used to. (I used to have to flash one all the time when testing roms on the original galaxy tab.)
I am using official ROM N7000ZSLA2_N7000ZSLA2_N7000XLA4_HOME.tar.md5 into PDA and also tried ROM N7000XXKKA_N7000XEUKK3_N7000XXKK5_HOME.tar.md5, which I used successfully in the past to make root into my phone.
Does it really make a difference to flash 4 separate files instead of a full pack? Where can I find an official ROM with pda radio and kernel separated? Just untar the ROM?

Oh, they do come into the Note; I flashed the Beta ICS, and one of the things they mention is to use the PIT file for the 16GB version, instead of the 32GB that comes with the leaked ROM. Unfortunately I deleted that ROM, and donwloading it is painfully slow and also wouldn't necessarily solve my problem as I couldn't even make a phone call.
True - the .pit file can change the size of the partition data... But that's not your problem. If the .pit file was the problem - you'd boot, but have 0 storage space (or something else wonky pertaining to your disk size.)
Open the tar up and make sure it has all the files in it. Should be 5.
I've attached a screenshot of the 5 file names. Make sure they are all in the .tar you are flashing.
Even i had similar problem after flashing Stock ROM using Odin (PC). Only thing i did is just rebooted in recovery and Wipe/factory Reset and Wipe cache. everything went fine.

Well, I finally managed to get my phone back. I was getting a lot of corrupted ROMS. I couldn't download your ROM as well; I managed to install the Beta ICS 4.0.3 which comes with a PIT for repartition, as I think the problem was that my booting partition was screwed.
Problem now is: that rom screws the phone and the keyboard, but at least I have my phone back.
Thank you

I too bricked my phone but after reading this guide (ABD wouldn't recognise my device so I couldn't follow it) I understood the partitions had become messed up.
I read somewhere about the PIT files.
I ODINed the ABYSS Kernal and PIT (Q1_20110914_16GB-patched) for my 16gb n7000 ticked the repartition box. It booted into CWM recovery and I used the restore and bingo.
Fix The problem
I had the same problem, the device got into start loop. JUST DO A FULL WIPE..! and the device should start normally. I worked for me.... :good:

Samsung Galaxy S GL-I9000 is not booting up after flashing

Hi,
First of all I'm pretty new to this forum and really don't know this is correct thread to post this or not. This forum is kinda huge
Here is my problem,
I have Samsung Galaxy S GL-I9000. After 6-7 months of use suddenly it got very slow and throwing error on installed application could not able to start (Force Close) randomly.
So I decided to do factory reset. I tried to format internal 16GB SD card, it was showing done but i could see the 4.3 GB occupied there. I factory reset option from the menu (forgot where) and it did not solve the problem.
I also tried to clear the Cache and Partition by 3-button combinations, again no use and decided to flash the ROM with available ROM.
I looked into XDA and found one and flashed it, but after flashing it is showing the samsung glowing logo and thats all, nothing is coming up.
I have Odin, Heimdall and bought the jig as well.
Please help me to make my phone in working condition. Any good ROM is fine for me don't need any fancy stuff right now.
Thanks in advance
Sudipta
you in something that calls BOOTLOOP you can fix it with the ODIN
tray to flush the STOCK ROM with the ODIN again
I tried to flash several times, and last 2 times I flashed with Phone EFS clear, Phone Boot Loader Update and Re-partition option selected.
Don't have any idea what else could be tried there. Can you please be specific?
Try clearing data, cache and dalvik and then flash this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117579
Thanks for your reply. Can you please tell me how to clear delvik?
I think data and cache can be cleared by going into reset screen by pressing 3-button combination.
Thanks in advance
Download stock rom for your phone from sammobile.
Then download odin for the phone again with pit file. It should have 512 pit file.
Now copy eveything on your internal sd card into a file on your pc.
Once done open odin, select pit512, and the three files of your stock rom ( phone, pda, csc) and check repartition. Make sure kies is not running. Now put phone into download mode and connect to usb, once phone connected to odin click start.
If still in bootloop try a second flash with same rom. This time don't check repartition and don't select the pit file. Select only phone, pda & csc.
If the stock rom you download only has one file put pit512 in pit and then file into pda although i think it is preferable to have the three file stock rom if possible.
Alternatively search for darkyrom resurrection in google and follow tutorial and downloads from the resurrection thread. That way the download has everything you need and darkyrom is a great custom stock rom

Jw5 rom from samfirmware is the latest.extract on your PC.password is samfirmware.com
Odin is very sensitive.so follow these steps
1. close kies
2.open odin
3.set files in Odin
4.turn phone off.remove battery, put it back in,use 3 button combo to get into download mode and connect phone to your PC.
5.wait for the Odin to recognize your phone(3-5 sec) and flash
6.don't remove phone until it is fully rebooted.this can up to 10 min.
And Done
Remember always to flash with full battery(100%)

Well sammobile can be a pain. Try googleing stock Roms for I9000 and find different downloads. Find a rom with sbl at the end of it. And put the files in there spots in Odin. You can put the pit and repartition if you want but its not a must. Good luck
