Suddendly the screen of my wildfire won't turn on, it's all black but buttons light up and it vibrates.
I tried to reboot removing the battery but didn't help, the phone turns on but the screen stays off.
Unfortunately the phone isn't rooted, I tried to boot in recovery mode but the screen remains off.
The main difference when I boot in recovery mode is that I get asked for driver for a
Android Bootloader Interface
when the phone is booted normally adb won't work, probably because the debug option is unflagged.
is there anything I can do ?
thanks
Send your phone to HTC.
Or take a big risk an root your phone with unrevoked and install a new ROM (wouldnt do that if I were you).
As your phone is not rooted, you can send it to HTC.. hope its in warranty period..

1. When on the solid X, try pressing the power button while holding down the trackball and volume down key. A screen with 3 androids on skates should come up.
2. Wait on this screen for 5 seconds until the RECOVERY option shows up in the list.
3. Use the Volume Down key to scroll down to RECOVERY.
4. Once RECOVERY option is selected, press the Power button to boot into recovery
Are you using Apps2SD with your custom ROM by any chance?
i can enter bootloader and fastboot mode by pressing tackball and power button, but when i select the recovery mode its stuck on x logo and doesnt responds... is my device bricked???
i am on cynogenmod 6.1.1
If you can enter the boot loader and fastboot mode, then try clearing the storage by choosing the CLEAR STORAGE option on that screen. Beware however, this will be as good as resetting your phone and will wipe all data - I mean contacts, SMSs ... everything. Then select REBOOT on that same screen to reboot your phone. Hope this helps
Also, if you haven't installed a radio or HBOOT incorrectly yesterday before switching off your phone, then the possibility of it having bricked is quite low.
i tried clearing the storage and tried rebooting the device from the options but its still stuck on boot logo...
Remove the battery, keep it like that for 5-10 min and then boot it up again. If it still doesn't work PM me your alternate no. I will call you up.
no its still not working... i tried removing battery for 20mins... but still same case...
reflash a working recovery, flash a stock rom, enjoy your phone again.
Came across this post while googling around

Seems very much like the issue you have.
i tried flashing a working recovery but still it doeasnt works... all i can see a multicoloured boot logo... please help me out guys...
i tried flashing amonRA recovery image but when i try to enter recovery its stuck on x logo... i've tried other recovery images too but anything doesnt works at all
Try the unroot/restore guide in the wiki, restoring FRG33 with the passimg method. If that doesn't work, you may have to call HTC...

i hav tried unroot/restore method... but it isnt working...
it fired up somehow....but no soung screen isnt responding now
buttons are also not working and power wake also isnt working.... please help what could be the problem....it took more than 30 mins to turn on dis device... & after that nothing was responding...
hey i had the same problem before even now what i did was went back to android 2.1 but when i installed some program like advance task killer it showed some ram less not some actually alot before advance task killer used to say 220mb ram available now it says 118mb available since android 2.2 needs more ram it's not loading properly cuz that's what mine did now i am looking for the solution to get my inactive ram.
Advance task killer kills all the app so now way the ram is still there even if it was being used the app would have closed the ram which it did but still it shows android 2.1

guys i got my nexus one back on track... it was a major hardware issue... it had nothing to deal with firmware...i got it repaired now from a professional device repairperson...
.... its working fine now... thanks for all the support from all the members...
I call shenanigans on the Professional repair persons advice to you.
I'm an Android noob, and i know that if you can get into bootloader, you're not bricked. I've recovered some scary **** from that vantage point in my few weeks here.
I'm glad you got your phone working again. I do hope that repair person didn't charge you Hardware Repair prices to do it though.

what was the problem how much did it cost to get it fixed
I have rooted my Htc hero a few months ago and had no problem until recently when my battery died and my phone brings up this white screen when ever I turn it on.
I have tried reinstalling my RUU updated and it works, but only if i keep the phone on without restarting it or letting it die will the phone work properly again.
If its turned off it will go back to the white screen ( with the 3 little androids on the bottom).
The options it gives me do nothing by the way.
Does anyone know whats going on with it?

Bump. Anyone have any clue on whats going on with it?
Can u go to recovery? From off... hold down home button while holding down power button.
Or hboot mode... from power off...
Hold down lower volume button while pressing power button. From hboot u can choose "recovery"
U want recovery to get to a "advanced" then to "backup and restore"
If ur still rooted then restore one of ur backups.
And if u wanna start over... unroot it and reroot it so u can flash any ROM u want.

Try to Install ROM Manager and Flash the Recovery over Again! Next at the Bottom of the ROM Manager app there's something called Fix Permissions, Run that until Asked to Reboot! Then Select Reboot and see if that Fixes it? Pretty sure it might Work...
It wont let me even recover anything, it just shows a picture of a red phone with a "!" net to it and it stays that way until I take the battery off.
PMGRANDS I have tried it and there is no option. ( I have updated it ) not installed. Maybe that's the problem? I've been updating it and it works until I turn it off.
That's why it's faster to start over...
Use the ruu zip and start over. I know it sucks but ur backups are still on ur SD card so once u unroot, then reroot in about 15 min, ur back to just rentering ur gmail account, then download rom manager and do a good working backup or just reflash the rom u just had that didn't work.
It beats playing the "try this or this" game.
Well I wish u luck in whichever option u choose
Take care

I don't mind losing all my stuff... I didn't have much on it to begin with. I'll try it and let you know! Thanks a lot for your help.
I don't understand what happened. One night I was listening to music and the phone went dead so instead of putting it on the charger, I let it sit. The next morning I went to charge it and wouldn't turn on.
I know the phone isn't hard bricked because occasionally the backlight will turn on, but no bootanimation or full power on. I rooted the phone about two weeks before this happened. Now when I plug it in the computer, it tries to install drivers (QHSUSB_DLOAD).
If anyone can help, please do; I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
I believe it may be soft bricked based on what you said. You have to have certain tools to fix it which means sending it in to HTC to have it repaired. So you are not able to get in to hboot at all?
Not at all
I can't do anything to the phone. The only thing it does is light up occasionally. If I were able to get into HBOOT I would know how to fix. I have gotten the phone stuck in a bootloop before and fixed it with no problem. I might be taking the phone to the store tomorrow to see about getting a new one but I wish I could just fix it myself.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1548678&page=3
Thought I remembered reading about this.
It's in emergency download mode..not a good sign but still likely fixable..but, not with anything available to us atm. I read another thread a while back where another vivid owner was stuck where u are..and so far as I know, no solutions found yet for him..but from what I was reading that mode is a failsafe from Qualcomm which - with the right software - should allow someone to flash the phone with working software.. I dunno..if you're not a programmer be very careful because one wrong move in qhusb_dload and you could perma-brick it for real. Good luck man.

Thank you guys, I'm gonna try to fix this, do some research to try to find a software to flash it. I really appreciate the help
FIXED!!!
I managed to fix my phone. After I got it into the bootloader, I just put PH37IMG (or something like that) onto the sd card and ran fastboot to flash that. Now I got my phone running smooth again.
Once again, thanks for your help.
And can you tell us what you did to get into zhe bootloader?
I'm curious too..how did u get back to bootloader?

He pbly had what's called a blind bootloader. Sometimes when a flash goes wrong your bootloader is there and working but it won't show on the screen. So you just press the buttons to boot into hboot and even though you can't see it its there and working.

I got the same problem. Can you tell me how to fix it? Thank in advance.
similar issue
So I had a similar issue where my phone went dead (battery died) and when I went to plug it in, it wouldn't charge (the backlight would stay on for 4 seconds and go out). It would never try and install drivers, it actually wouldn't do anything. I have been unlocked and rooted for some time now and haven't tried putting any ROM's on it yet. So this wasn't a matter of a bad flash or anything.
Long story short, I was able to get it into hBoot but now I can't get into recovery and when I try and boot up, it gets stuck on the boot animation. I've tried loading PH39IMG.zip files, even pushing recovery files onto it using fastboot commands and nothing. I have the Rogers Raider and I can't find any RUU files for it. Even then, I wouldn't know how to install the original RUU without being able to get into recovery. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
Hey sorry I haven't been on here in forever. But when everything went wrong I just kept trying to get into bootloader and after many attempts I finally got it to work. There was nothing special about it no secrets

So instead of "fastboot flash..." I type "fastboot run <insert .exe file here>"?
Not quite sure how to run the RUU from fastboot (or what the commands are in fastboot for that matter).

I've tried to re-lock the bootloader but it won't re-lock. whenever the phone needs to be rebooted, it'll just get stuck on the HTC logo screen. I've tried running the RUU but again, when it reboots the same thing happens, stuck on logo.

are you typing fastboot oem lock you might get a error but reboot your phone and it should say re-locked after that
recently after i flashed a rom, i press reboot, then the screen shows nothing, not even the HTC logo (it might have booted, just not showing anything, i hear it vibrate), i wait for 20 mins but screen still doesn't show anything, tried flashing different roms but still the same! Any idea why?
also the bootloader doesn't show up on the screen, i have to guess whether recovery might be selected and only recovery shows up..

How would they s-off their machine if they have no access to the OS? They need to enable USB debugging for S-Off procedure. If you have no access to OS then forget it. Your phone is long gone. It is most likely that EMMC is corrupt.
