[Q] HTC Vivid - I Think I Soft Bricked the Phone. Any Help? - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

I don't understand what happened. One night I was listening to music and the phone went dead so instead of putting it on the charger, I let it sit. The next morning I went to charge it and wouldn't turn on.
I know the phone isn't hard bricked because occasionally the backlight will turn on, but no bootanimation or full power on. I rooted the phone about two weeks before this happened. Now when I plug it in the computer, it tries to install drivers (QHSUSB_DLOAD).
If anyone can help, please do; I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

I believe it may be soft bricked based on what you said. You have to have certain tools to fix it which means sending it in to HTC to have it repaired. So you are not able to get in to hboot at all?

Not at all
I can't do anything to the phone. The only thing it does is light up occasionally. If I were able to get into HBOOT I would know how to fix. I have gotten the phone stuck in a bootloop before and fixed it with no problem. I might be taking the phone to the store tomorrow to see about getting a new one but I wish I could just fix it myself.

Thought I remembered reading about this.

It's in emergency download mode..not a good sign but still likely fixable..but, not with anything available to us atm. I read another thread a while back where another vivid owner was stuck where u are..and so far as I know, no solutions found yet for him..but from what I was reading that mode is a failsafe from Qualcomm which - with the right software - should allow someone to flash the phone with working software.. I dunno..if you're not a programmer be very careful because one wrong move in qhusb_dload and you could perma-brick it for real. Good luck man.

Thank you guys, I'm gonna try to fix this, do some research to try to find a software to flash it. I really appreciate the help

FIXED!!!
I managed to fix my phone. After I got it into the bootloader, I just put PH37IMG (or something like that) onto the sd card and ran fastboot to flash that. Now I got my phone running smooth again.
Once again, thanks for your help.

And can you tell us what you did to get into zhe bootloader?

I'm curious too..how did u get back to bootloader?

He pbly had what's called a blind bootloader. Sometimes when a flash goes wrong your bootloader is there and working but it won't show on the screen. So you just press the buttons to boot into hboot and even though you can't see it its there and working.

What's the secret?

I got the same problem. Can you tell me how to fix it? Thank in advance.

similar issue
So I had a similar issue where my phone went dead (battery died) and when I went to plug it in, it wouldn't charge (the backlight would stay on for 4 seconds and go out). It would never try and install drivers, it actually wouldn't do anything. I have been unlocked and rooted for some time now and haven't tried putting any ROM's on it yet. So this wasn't a matter of a bad flash or anything.
Long story short, I was able to get it into hBoot but now I can't get into recovery and when I try and boot up, it gets stuck on the boot animation. I've tried loading PH39IMG.zip files, even pushing recovery files onto it using fastboot commands and nothing. I have the Rogers Raider and I can't find any RUU files for it. Even then, I wouldn't know how to install the original RUU without being able to get into recovery. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

Hey sorry I haven't been on here in forever. But when everything went wrong I just kept trying to get into bootloader and after many attempts I finally got it to work. There was nothing special about it no secrets

So instead of "fastboot flash..." I type "fastboot run <insert .exe file here>"?
Not quite sure how to run the RUU from fastboot (or what the commands are in fastboot for that matter).

What he means is lock your bootloader before running the ruu put your phone in fastboot USB mode hook it up to your computer run the ruu.exe file on your computer and it will return your phone to out of the box stock

I've tried to re-lock the bootloader but it won't re-lock. whenever the phone needs to be rebooted, it'll just get stuck on the HTC logo screen. I've tried running the RUU but again, when it reboots the same thing happens, stuck on logo.

Help please. Vivid wont boot

I have searched everywhere and cannot find any answers. I tried to load a custom rom lastnight and my phone got stuck on the white HTC screeen. I was able to go into HBOOT but everytime i tried to rebot nothing would hapen. I loaded the PH39IMG.zip but it said the file could not be read. Now my phone wont turn on normally or into HBOOT. When I plug it in the orange light flashes and goes out. The only response I get is the haptic on the 4 lower keys.
Did you flash the boot image before you flashed the ROM?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
not sure. I made the mistake of using ROM Manager from the market. i downloaded the rom i wanted to the external sd and went into the app, selected "install from sd card", selected the rom and it instantly came up with the white HTC scren. i gave it about 30 min before pulling the battery and loading HBOOT. from there i couldnt do anything so i went to bed. when i woke up i was able to enter HBOOT and got the message "battery low". i plugged it in and the light flashed orange. now nothing. just feedback when i touch the 4 bottom keys. i put a CWM and the zip back on sd card but cant get into HBOOT to flash it...

Did you pull your battery before trying to boot into hboot?
Did you relock your phone before trying to flash the PH39IMG?
yes. it just doesnt want to enter. i just left the battery out for 20 min and it finally went to hboot. it asked if i would like to go into recovery, i said yes. it said updating then update sucessful and asked to reboot. did that, white htc screen for 5 min then it turned off like it died again. How would i "re-lock" if i can manage to get back to hboot? and is there a reason my battery wont charge? also can i enter it without the battery and being connected to charger? Thanks for all the help guys

Heres exactly what your gonna do. Follow this step by step.
Pull your battery.
Put battery back in.
Turn on phone by holding vol down + power.
Plug in USB cable.
Enter fastboot.
In your adb folder (where you have the fastboot.exe, ect.) in cmd type: fastboot oem lock
(Not using your phone) Put the PH39IMG on your SD card
Pull your battery.
Put battery back in.
Turn on phone by holding vol down + power.
(Plug into the wall charger if your battery is low)
It should automatically detect and flash the PH39IMG.
Now your back to stock.
Now READ EVERY SINGLE WORD in this and then this.
After this if you still have no idea what to do - Don't pass go. Don't collect $100 You're done.
i try to enter fastboot but it goes to CWM based revovery v5.5.0.4. how can i get to HBOOT from here? and when i was there earlier it wouldnt install from sd because the battery was too low
It shouldn't go to recovery if your trying to boot into hboot. Either your doing something wrong, the phone is plugged in before you boot into hboot (if you plug your phone in while its off it'll automatically boot to CWM Recovery), or you seriously messed something up (beyond where I can help you).
well i WAS able t get into HBOOT fine until i got the message "change a battery" now i have to be plugged in to even get CWM. will the battery charge in cwm? my led flashes orange for about 2-3sec and then goes out..
It should. Chargemon file isn't correct hence why we don't have the standard charging screen IIRC.

Yes, it charges in CWM.
Once it's charged enough, try to adb reboot bootloader when plugged into the computer and see if it kicks you to HBoot. I forget whether you can launch ADB commands from CWM or not.
EDIT: Or just do the standard HBoot button combo.
ok, ill let it charge for a bit and try the PH36IMG. i really hope this works. i just got this phone thursday!
well the screen timed out so i assumed i would try to get to Hboot. i cant get to hboot. it will only go to CWM. can i install the .zip from here or does it need to be installed from hboot?

Are you plugged in while trying to get to hboot? If it's plugged in it will always go to CWM for some reason. There is no reason why your phone will boot to recovery and not hboot.

[Q] I think I bricked my Vivid while trying to S-Off! (SOLVED!)

My Vivid is unlocked, but I wanted to do S-Off to have more flashing capabilities. While going through the S-Off process, I changed my mind and decided not to do the wire trick, so I unplugged the cable. Now the phone just boots up directly to a JuopunutBear screen. Even though I can get to recovery and flash a ROM, when it boots back up it just stays stuck at that same screen. Help! What should I do?
I downloaded the latest Vivid RUU from the HTC website, but it says RUU failed. Can someone please help me get my phone back up, even if it's back to stock? I tried doing the Command controlbear.exe -r and controlbear.exe -f, but it doesn't work. I'm doing it on a different computer than when I first tried to S-Off....Do I have to go back to that original computer? I don't have access to that computer right now. If there's another way (flashing something else through fastboot), please let me know! I would be very thankful for your help!
So, my phone issue is now SOLVED! YES!
Here's what I did:
I first flashed the stock kernel from the HTC Vivid All-In-One Kit (I'm sure there are other ways, but I found this was easier.) Once I did that, I went back and relocked the phone using the same tool (It was unlocked.) After I did that, I flashed the RUU from the HTC website with no issues. I'm finally back to stock!
Hope this works for anyone that has this problem with the Juopunutbear screen stuck because of an unsuccessful S-Off!

The juopunutbear screen allows adb commands, so if you or anyone experiences this issue its as easy as:
adb reboot bootloader ( gives you a chance to install a new recovery in fastboot mode )
Or
adb reboot recovery (if you have an existing wcx recovery)
If you notice you have an s-off already proceed, and if you don't its a good way to get back into the bootloader to flash a signed ph39img.zip Rom without RUU.
In recovery, flash an unsecured boot.img ( which is selectable in dark raiders Rom ), then let your vivid start up normal, reboot to recovery then flash any kernel you wish. If you don't do this in this exact method, you'll get assert failed messages if you try to flash any kernel over the juopunutbear screen, and you'll just bootloop back into the same screen over.
Half the effort with the same great results.

Phone does not boot

recently after i flashed a rom, i press reboot, then the screen shows nothing, not even the HTC logo (it might have booted, just not showing anything, i hear it vibrate), i wait for 20 mins but screen still doesn't show anything, tried flashing different roms but still the same! Any idea why?
also the bootloader doesn't show up on the screen, i have to guess whether recovery might be selected and only recovery shows up..

[Q] No OS installed, stuck on HTC load screen

Hey everyone. I know I totally screwed up. So I got my Phone today. HTC One from Sprint. I went to unlock bootloader. Success, but when I went to install a custom rom I went to do a wipe, I guess I wiped the wrong thing. So now I don't have a OS, and stuck in TWRP because it won't load. Is there a way to push the rom to the phone and install from there? Or do I need a RUU? Or best bet is try to get a new phone?
Bummer bro. All I can say is I hope your phone is nearly out of battery. Mine did this last night, just gotta wait until it dies, then press the power button while holding the volume down key. Don't screw this up, you only got one chance, then you have to let it die again. Haha non-removable battery problems. :/ lol
Totally didn't read your post correctly. You can flash the OTG (On the Go) comparable recovery using the adb and then put a ROM on a flashdrive and use an OTG cable to connect the usb drive to your phone and flash the rom

ADB push the rom onto the phone. Did you even flash the rom you put on your phone in the first place?
I'm not 100% sure if this is available on TWRP, but I know in CWM you can flash from sideload. If there's an option for that, just plug your phone into your computer, select it, and run adb sideload <file>.
You could always use one of the RUUs to go back to stock, but you'll have to unlock again.

[HELP] HTC One won't boot!! No OS... Stuck at splash screen. :(

HELP!!! I tried to install a ROM and all my data were gone and my SD card files look pretty messed up so I decided to wipe the system and return to Stock later.
After wiping the system, I realize the OTG storage cant be mounted and the HORROR begins. My phone got no OS to boot.
I tried to flash stock boot image and recovery and tried installing the official RRU. It failed. Now I can't even boot to fastboot or recovery.
It is stuck at HTC Quietly Brilliant splash screen.
I know some of the steps I did were pretty silly.
I need this phone tomorrow.
Pleaase HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!! :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
when you press power+volume down (without releasing the keys) for a few seconds (could be 20-30, doesn't matter), what happends?
first of all you data from you sd wasnt gone it just gets moved to support 4.2.2 multiuser.
what you should do is use all in one toolkit to run the fastboot commands for you. then i would sideload arhd 10 to your phone.
im running it now and its absolutely perfect

Can you boot into recovery mate, go into bootloader and reflash custom recovery if you cannot. Get into recovery and adb sideload either Android Revolution HD 9.4 or 10.0, the rom should begin to install once its transferred over, It takes a while so let it do its job to transfer, also make sure you have up to date adb drivers and files, otherwise adb sideload wont work.

Actually I mentioned that in ARHD thread. Before install arhd 10, I only had 7GB available. After installing, I had 25GB available. I tried to find my data everywhere with Root explorer. It's just not there anymore.

keep trying the button combo power+volume down under a bright light or try to use the all in one toolkit.
if you cant get it with that you can wait for the battery to die

After holding this for some 10 minutes under the bright light, finally managed to boot into fastboot. Damn that was tough.
Thanks you all for the help!!

Don't panick, plug your phone into usb, go to cmd and try a command "adb devices" if it sees the device then try "adb reboot bootloader" if it doesn't see it, then I guess you have wrong drivers, there was a thread on xda with the correct ones
