I have searched everywhere and cannot find any answers. I tried to load a custom rom lastnight and my phone got stuck on the white HTC screeen. I was able to go into HBOOT but everytime i tried to rebot nothing would hapen. I loaded the PH39IMG.zip but it said the file could not be read. Now my phone wont turn on normally or into HBOOT. When I plug it in the orange light flashes and goes out. The only response I get is the haptic on the 4 lower keys.
Did you flash the boot image before you flashed the ROM?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
not sure. I made the mistake of using ROM Manager from the market. i downloaded the rom i wanted to the external sd and went into the app, selected "install from sd card", selected the rom and it instantly came up with the white HTC scren. i gave it about 30 min before pulling the battery and loading HBOOT. from there i couldnt do anything so i went to bed. when i woke up i was able to enter HBOOT and got the message "battery low". i plugged it in and the light flashed orange. now nothing. just feedback when i touch the 4 bottom keys. i put a CWM and the zip back on sd card but cant get into HBOOT to flash it...

Did you pull your battery before trying to boot into hboot?
Did you relock your phone before trying to flash the PH39IMG?
yes. it just doesnt want to enter. i just left the battery out for 20 min and it finally went to hboot. it asked if i would like to go into recovery, i said yes. it said updating then update sucessful and asked to reboot. did that, white htc screen for 5 min then it turned off like it died again. How would i "re-lock" if i can manage to get back to hboot? and is there a reason my battery wont charge? also can i enter it without the battery and being connected to charger? Thanks for all the help guys

Heres exactly what your gonna do. Follow this step by step.
Pull your battery.
Put battery back in.
Turn on phone by holding vol down + power.
Plug in USB cable.
Enter fastboot.
In your adb folder (where you have the fastboot.exe, ect.) in cmd type: fastboot oem lock
(Not using your phone) Put the PH39IMG on your SD card
Pull your battery.
Put battery back in.
Turn on phone by holding vol down + power.
(Plug into the wall charger if your battery is low)
It should automatically detect and flash the PH39IMG.
Now your back to stock.
Now READ EVERY SINGLE WORD in this and then this.
After this if you still have no idea what to do - Don't pass go. Don't collect $100 You're done.
i try to enter fastboot but it goes to CWM based revovery v5.5.0.4. how can i get to HBOOT from here? and when i was there earlier it wouldnt install from sd because the battery was too low
It shouldn't go to recovery if your trying to boot into hboot. Either your doing something wrong, the phone is plugged in before you boot into hboot (if you plug your phone in while its off it'll automatically boot to CWM Recovery), or you seriously messed something up (beyond where I can help you).
well i WAS able t get into HBOOT fine until i got the message "change a battery" now i have to be plugged in to even get CWM. will the battery charge in cwm? my led flashes orange for about 2-3sec and then goes out..
It should. Chargemon file isn't correct hence why we don't have the standard charging screen IIRC.

Yes, it charges in CWM.
Once it's charged enough, try to adb reboot bootloader when plugged into the computer and see if it kicks you to HBoot. I forget whether you can launch ADB commands from CWM or not.
EDIT: Or just do the standard HBoot button combo.
ok, ill let it charge for a bit and try the PH36IMG. i really hope this works. i just got this phone thursday!
well the screen timed out so i assumed i would try to get to Hboot. i cant get to hboot. it will only go to CWM. can i install the .zip from here or does it need to be installed from hboot?

Are you plugged in while trying to get to hboot? If it's plugged in it will always go to CWM for some reason. There is no reason why your phone will boot to recovery and not hboot.

Ok, I turned my Nook (rooted 1.01) on yesterday after maybe 2 weeks not using it (was turned off all the time).
I got stuck in the colored n screen and turned it off by presseing power button after it didn't boot after some minutes.
Now it is doing nothing anymore. Blank screen, not booting no answer to anything (longpress or plugging USB)
I read that this might be because due to some reasn system is broken and i tried recovery using a disk with the clockwork image. After inserting the uSD, unfortunately it is also not booting and not responding to any long keypress, with or without power...
BTW1: the Nook cable power indicator is always yellow - its not getting green even if it was plugged in for some time. does that say anything?
BTW2: I am from europe and bought the Nook in the US, but cannot return it from here :-(
Any ideas ?
Any tip on how to find out if it is essentially functional?
Anytool I can use?
Thanks for any idea !
The few things I would probably try from here is holding the power button for 10 seconds wait a bit and try to turn it on. Also turn it "on" where the lights and that come on and let it run till the battery dies, that could take a day or two, and see after some charging if it will start back up.
Good idea - it might be still running with a blank screen...
If I plug in the Nook cable in my PC, it tries to install a driver and a "OMAP360x" device can be seen in Win7 Device Manager. Does this prove that the device is still running ?
btw the Omap entry is just there for some seconds than drops out of the list automatically...
You are getting the same thing like mine.
I fixed though. It is simple.
First make sure you have Clockwork Recovery burned to an uSD then plug the SD card to the nook.
Afterwards have the nook connected to your computer and keep the power button pressed for at least 15 seconds, cause you ought to see the screen go white and black really fast since it will be booting into recovery.
Now that is if you have enough battery. If not it will tell you to go plug it it for at least 15 mintutes to charge. In that case you will need to plug it in the outlet.
Do that and let me know what happens.
Will try this again, today and report.
Thanks!

Okay, so be clear for everyone, how did you root, and are you using the stock recovery or had you installed Clockwork Recovery?
I suspect your battery is just dead, but surely you've plugged it into the B&N charger and cable and left it for a while, right?
Thanks! Looks like this is even able to load up all the apps and stuff?
I will give it a shot, and I suppose I can block the 1.1 too!!

is there any way to get the Rom Manager with the drop bucket? I cant get market to work
Hello all, I admire all of your work. I just recently hit a problem and was wondering if you could help.
I had unofficial froyo from designgears, and was trying to install voodoo lagfix. I set it as an update.zip, it ran through the whole set-up with the talking lady and everything. It said it was complete, then it rebooted into my recovery (2e, but I just recently flashed 3e, so I don't know why that happened).
Then, it was doing it's thing, but got stuck on "Installing multi-csc". I let that sit for about 5 minutes, but nothing happened, so I hit reboot now. It rebooted back into 2e recover, and again got stuck on "Installing multi-csc".
I tried turning it off, then opening odin3 and trying to get into download mode, but everytime I plugged it in, it went to recovery.
Now, I took the battery out and SIM card and tried plugging it back in, and it gets stuck on the charging screen that shows when it is turned off. It won't even load how charged the battery is...I have no idea what to do...
You should still be able to get into download mode with this method- Remove battery and sim for 1 minute then only put the battery back in connect your charging cable only to your phone then while holding the volume up and down plug it into your computer while the phone is off and it should go right into DL mode
Edit: I forgot to add that you must have Odin already open for this to work properly
Thank God for you, my good sir! This will change the kernel back to stock as well, correct?

Haha no problem this method has worked for without fail many times and yes it will if you are using Odin one click but your phone must be build 1009(This is more of a guide line people above 1009 have successfully used it I believe) or below
Hey guys, I have a friend who has an HTC Vivid, and he accidentally flashed CWM via ROM Manager. This on it's own isn't a big deal, but then he let the battery run down, and now the phone refuses to charge. Apparently the phone will vibrate randomly while off, will not turn on, doesn't charge after 2 hours of being plugged in. His phone is S-ON and unlocked. There is a quick indication of a charging LED going on, but it flashes off. I don't think it's ever been dropped or anything else.
I'm assuming that an external battery charger to get the battery charged and then flashing recovery via fastboot should solve the issue. Am I right, or is this going to require a full flash via an ruu?
The phone cannot be booted up into either bootloader or the main OS.
I believe his best luck is to use a friends vivid to charge his battery or but a battery cradle to charge it. I think those are the only two options.

I think his phone is still recognized by the PC, but I'm not sure if ADB will get it into a state that will let it charge and then fix the recovery.

If he can't get someone to charge his battery for him, but he _can_ get it to boot into clockwork (and have access to ADB shell), it can be fixed... but it's a pain in the butt.
It boils down to pushing the htcbatt service file (you can get from my github here: https://github.com/thecubed/android.../prebuilt/recovery/root/sbin/htcbatt?raw=true ) to /tmp/ and marking it as executable, then executing it.
Code:
adb push htcbatt /tmp/htcbatt
adb shell
chmod 777 /tmp/htcbatt
/tmp/htcbatt
After that, let it sit there for 30 or so minutes, and the battery should be charging.
Don't skimp on charging time, let it at least get back to 60%, then use the PH39IMG-chargemode.zip in my recovery thread. Rename it to PH39IMG.zip and put it on your sdcard, then boot to HBOOT and flash it. Boot to recovery, and let the battery finish charging.
That should get it all working!
Good luck!
The issue is that I know for sure that the phone's cwm is broken, he flashed it through rom manager and I know that it won't boot into recovery.
Would it be possible to try and push the proper recovery.img to the phone via fastboot?

So, when plugged into AC power over USB, what happens?
Fastboot flash wont work until the battery is charged, since hboot runs only on battery.

Status update as I now have the phone in my hands.
1. The phone doesn't boot at all. No signs of life, no ability to get into bootloader or Android OS.
2. If the battery is pulled and then put back in, then the USB cable is put into the phone, the charging LED can be seen for a little bit before it goes out.
3. For some reason, haptic feedback on the capacitive buttons still works, but intermittently.
4. I'm unsure of whether the battery is dead from voltage going too low.
Double post to say that the issue was solved with an external battery charger and flashing the proper recovery.img. Thanks to everyone for their help.
i was having a lot of trouble with my att vivid for about 2 weeks unlocked it and run super guide stuff on it all week wasnt getting anywhere but i came across a link to a web site that had it up and running in about 30 mins it was realiy cool now it is back to normal just signed into filefactory and got the proper ruu run the program and wow it was amazing i tried posting the link but i am newbee here so all i can do is q&a the real key was i had to lock it back and the program did all the work.
Not sure how I did it, but I am stuck at the Red LG logo with the white LG letters and my phone will go no further. It will not shut down without a battery pull. I have tried to do the hold down volume and factory reset the phone, same screen pops back up. Plugged in does nothing either. It is like it lost the ability to boot.
I ask here for maybe some guidance from a dev. If wrong place, please move it.
I can not get into the recovery, regular boot, computer to recognize it.. Nothing at all... Is there an actual boot image to put on the sd card to boot to?
Any suggestions??

You can get into emergency mode to flash the tot file in lgnspt.
1 Pull Battery
2 Press and hold volume up + power
3 Plug phone into computer (while still holding buttons)
4 Put battery back in (while still holding buttons)
5 You should now enter emergency mode
Can u enter CWM? By holding down pwer and vol down. Then confirm data wipe (it won't) then reboot into cwm? If u can try to install a rom

I don't understand what happened. One night I was listening to music and the phone went dead so instead of putting it on the charger, I let it sit. The next morning I went to charge it and wouldn't turn on.
I know the phone isn't hard bricked because occasionally the backlight will turn on, but no bootanimation or full power on. I rooted the phone about two weeks before this happened. Now when I plug it in the computer, it tries to install drivers (QHSUSB_DLOAD).
If anyone can help, please do; I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
I believe it may be soft bricked based on what you said. You have to have certain tools to fix it which means sending it in to HTC to have it repaired. So you are not able to get in to hboot at all?
Not at all
I can't do anything to the phone. The only thing it does is light up occasionally. If I were able to get into HBOOT I would know how to fix. I have gotten the phone stuck in a bootloop before and fixed it with no problem. I might be taking the phone to the store tomorrow to see about getting a new one but I wish I could just fix it myself.

Thought I remembered reading about this.
It's in emergency download mode..not a good sign but still likely fixable..but, not with anything available to us atm. I read another thread a while back where another vivid owner was stuck where u are..and so far as I know, no solutions found yet for him..but from what I was reading that mode is a failsafe from Qualcomm which - with the right software - should allow someone to flash the phone with working software.. I dunno..if you're not a programmer be very careful because one wrong move in qhusb_dload and you could perma-brick it for real. Good luck man.

He pbly had what's called a blind bootloader. Sometimes when a flash goes wrong your bootloader is there and working but it won't show on the screen. So you just press the buttons to boot into hboot and even though you can't see it its there and working.

similar issue
So I had a similar issue where my phone went dead (battery died) and when I went to plug it in, it wouldn't charge (the backlight would stay on for 4 seconds and go out). It would never try and install drivers, it actually wouldn't do anything. I have been unlocked and rooted for some time now and haven't tried putting any ROM's on it yet. So this wasn't a matter of a bad flash or anything.
Long story short, I was able to get it into hBoot but now I can't get into recovery and when I try and boot up, it gets stuck on the boot animation. I've tried loading PH39IMG.zip files, even pushing recovery files onto it using fastboot commands and nothing. I have the Rogers Raider and I can't find any RUU files for it. Even then, I wouldn't know how to install the original RUU without being able to get into recovery. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
