i have tried clearing the cache and open again....same problem
can anyone else confirm this? i am on Android Revolution HD 1.9.2
it works on modaco custom
Works here, you have to use zoom in a lot in supported cities and you'll see buildings popping out. You can alo tilt the map to have a better view. I still can't believe they have 3D buildings in Melbourne and Tasmania, but not Sydney.
Where can I get this update? Because I am trying on my Desire HD routed Android Revolution 1.9.2. But still no update?

Useless for us in the U.K. as all of our buildings are as short as our garden gnomes, can't see any buildings which google have bothered to render in 3D....shame....
Update: I can confirm that the 3D render is not working on Cyanogen 6.1
Somehow it works in US only.

Depends if you want TTS or just "turn left in 1 mile".
TTS - iGo8 is good, there's also iGuidance
For the other there's Garmin, TomTom, CoPilot, Route66, and lots of others.

Yes but from the way it sounds it would not be hard to get s system generated for any area since it is user based.
I so need to get my data plan back . I miss being able to use handy things like this.
telenav
but I found I didn't need it for the places I went I already knew alternate routes, but the service is great.

I am "playing" with waze here in San Diego, and its routing is just terrible at the moment.
San Diego is supposed to have reasonably good coverage... but I would not trust waze to guide me around San Diego if I was in an unfamiliar area.

Hi everybody,
Im looking for an navigation app, like tomtom, but my problem is, the copilot and telenav are not avaliable to me, on my country, so, im searching for an app that works with offline maps, hopefully ported from another plataform, maybe winMO.
If someone know one... plz post it. Thx in advance.
(Sorry by my english )
By "not available", do you mean not available for purchase? Or do you mean that there are no maps for your area?
If simply not available for purchase, use market enabler.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any nav program with maps that cover brazil...
But about market enabler...

I recommend sygic too, I use it with BR maps and it's ok.
Ndrive works too, and it's a lot smoother than sygic, but the final version is not out yet.
I looked for every navigation software available for android and only cygic and ndrive works in BR. And yes, they are expensive
there are waze.com, I don't know if BR maps already includet, but averyone can edit and record every street all over the world, its open for worldwide, it's free, open source, read more at waze.com
I have tested a few, and my favourite is Navigon.
However, it is one of the most expensive applications, and I can not buy maps for Scandinavia alone, so I'm looking for a replacement.
Unfortunately Google's Navigation is not available in Norway.
Which do you prefer?
Please take my poll, and I appreciate additional information and tips if you have tested several navigation systems.
Thanks!
I prefer copilot as google navigation does not allow or let you save fav places which are not on the map say for instance I am looking for a shop not in the search result so I look on the map,pin it but cannot save it in say shops or eating places like you can in copilot.
Yeah, me too. Copilot is great.

am using Copilot too and am pretty much happy about it!
I found Navigon to be a very good and "light-weight" navigation software. It's easy to use, gives great directions and has a clean layout. Still it could benifit from more options and customizations as it's really not that advanced.
CoPilot is a great application also, but I think it's interface is too cluttered.
Yesterday I read a review about Sygic Aura, and bought the Scandinavian version for 19,99EUR. This is by far my favourite of these three as it has a really nice UI, great (and I mean really great) graphichs and is really easy to use but still has a lot of advanced feautures.
I agree, sigyc Aura is greate. Easy to use and really grate grafics and UI.
im useing "waze", you can find it on the market.
Guys, don't you think CoPilot is a bit inaccurate when calculating travelling time though?
My commute into work takes 1 hour, always has, TomTom agrees with me, but CoPilot thinks it'll take 1.5 hours.... strange...
Sygic Aura doesn't give you the price. you only can download the free version. Don't like this. I want to know how much I'm going to pay if I buy it. Won't even try it.
I've got LOCATIONS, but for me the best is TOMTOM. I had it on my Kaiser, and with its so small screen I was able on one little glance to read all important elements (next way out, speed, etc..)
NDrive is good and has fairly up to date australian maps, Aura lacks maps for australia it seems which is unfortunate.
Brut maps all the way buddy. Google it

Sygic Aura all the way! But I do miss my igo8 on wm6.5
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Nobody talks about LOCATIONS PREMIUM.
Interesting navigation, but missing a lot of options. Not expensive.
Missing :
- enter adress from contacts (as MAPS)
- enter GPS with the coordinates.
each time you want to configure you have to go back to locations. it means shut the navigation down and open LOCATION.
Otherwise, its very clear navigation. GPS is very precise (suppose it doesn't depend of the program)
hope we'll soon have a good update...

Sure you're living in a big country. In Switzerland you walk 2 steps and you are in roaming!!!
In CoPilot I miss the following funktions.
When they are fixed I think it will be the best Nav-app:
Foto-nav - When I get qa photo by mms or mail, it would be great to be able to navigate to it.
Navigate to contact - Now I cant click a contact in my phone-book and navigate to him/her. That sux!

I just received the new Maps 5.0 update with promised features such as 3D view. Well, we got 3D viewing, but where are all the 3D buildings that I saw screenshots of???
Right now only 100 cities are supported with 3D viewing around the world. Mine's working fine because I live in L.A.
So...if a program is installed with the ROM, i.e. in the ROM package such as google maps with cyanogenmod then, to update to the latest version of said app would you have to created a flashable zip to overwrite the existing apk?
Edit: definitely disregard my market just hadn't updated cuz I was in a ****ty reception spot lol

How is it working?? I went to LA and no 3D buildings are shown. Do you view Terrain? Satellite? I'm confused as to why it's not working.
I've tried LA, Chicago, New York, none work.

Yep, I zoomed in. Someone give me a friggin address I can go right to and see it.
I'm seeing the 3d buildings but i cant tilt.
I typed in Philadelphia, PA... went right to where it took me by default.. no 3d buildings all the way zoomed in on Terrain or Satellite layers.. nada zip...
Ok WOW i got it working.. I didnt know I could turn the layers off completely.. It only works when no layers are turned on at all!
I turned all of my layers off, searched for LA, zoomed in (layers still off) and still no tilt
you used both two fingers then, drag down. that would tilt the map.
I did, still nothing :/
Im not getting any tilt or rotate with gmm 5.0 either. Also I dont think I'm getting the vector graphics, because when I zoom in and out I still get the pixelated, blurry blocks like I always have. Maybe because I'm still running 2.1?
3D buildings are also not working for my Droid X. I am running stock build 2.2 Froyo rooted. I have no roms or themes. I've tried it with all layers off, searching LA and also Vancouver BC. Just tried San Francisco's Mission St. all the way zoomed with GPS on and no layers, still nothing.
I am so utterly confused as to why this is working for some people and not others. Only thing I can think of is that it is server side, since it appears to be completely at random which phones will work and which ones will not.
*Edit, just went back to the phone and tried again. This time it worked for the first time. All I did was tild the view level with two fingers swiping downward, then zoomed in level by level using the +/_ on screen buttons until 3D showed up. Sweet!
Make sure all layers are turned off. Go to Philadelphia, PA or maybe even New York, NY or possibly Chicago, IL. Zoom all the way in at first and wait a few seconds for it to all load. Take both fingers (seperated by about 0.25" from each other) and drag down on the screen or up on the screen depending on the tilt action. It doesn't tilt much, but some.
The only thing I cannot get working is the rotation. I don't think the screen recognizes it correctly perhaps?
Anywho, it's a nifty feature for someone who walks around the city a lot! Or, just for the eyecandy factor?
Hi guys, i cant find google maps 5 in the market. The version i am running is still 4.5. I am also on liberated fr8.
Please advice how i can get the latest update. Thanks!

Go to NYC, Manhattan to test the 3D buildings.
Note that 3D view kicks in only at a certain level of detail. Just keep zooming it. For me, both 3D and tilting works fine -- running Froyo Liberated FR0008 Stable Release.
If it's not working, please post details about your setup. Which OS?
It's working for me - CM6.1 Stable (android 2.2)

If you can see the 3d buildings, then you obviously have google maps 5.0, this video demonstrates how to correctly do everything, including the 3d tilt.
Okay so if you go to the Telenav OTA site at ota.telenav.com/tn and click T-Mobile as your carrier, then click the Vibrant 4G, it is completely compatible with the Captivate. Basic navigation is now free (including voice navigation, automatic re-routing, etc) and the full premium navigation (which includes SPEED TRAPS among traffic and all sorts of other things) is only $2.99 a month - MUCH better than paying at&t $9.99 a month and this app is much better than the stock at&t Navigator app and worlds better than Google Navigation, which quite often thinks you aren't on the right road when you're dealing with a highly populated area with lots of roads.
Also, unlike Google Nav, TeleNav will continue to work without a tower signal, it will just tell you to turn without the street name. I know this from experience when I drove from Colorado to Arizona and was driving through Hatch, NM and had no signal from Sprint or any roaming partner and still got navigation directions.
Just thought I'd post this up here. I decided to check out the OTA site and see what's up.
Also, if you download it directly from the device, it will tell you it can't recognize your device and you just hit Samsung, then Vibrant 4G.
I do not know if this works on non T-Mobile ROMs but I don't see why it wouldn't. Let me know what you guys think.
Nice find. Thank you.
Awesome find. Thank you for sharing. Will log in tomorrow from pc to vote this up and a thank you.

It crashed (the entire phone) on the initial run, but I have not had problems since then.
Thanks!
Thanks for the tip. Loaded as you recommended. Curious why not identify as att?
Just checked tele nav's maps almost instant lock pinpoint on house went into google maps no lock after 30 seconds. In the nav mode also almost instant lock and immediate directions.... Will check in morning see how tracking works. Can only hope. If it works as well as the locks will have a usable gps finally.

Glad everyone is loving it! It appears that this version is ONLY for the Vibrant 4G so its kick ass that it works on our phones. I used it for navigation today because I got so pissed with Google Navigation always thinking I'm on a street that I'm not and it was FLAWLESS the entire route.
I may very well may the 2.99 a month - sure beats 9.99 a month and the lane assistance is helpful when you're traveling somewhere you haven't been before. Nothing worse than being in the wrong exit lane and ending up either almost getting in an accident changing lanes at the last minute or ending up going the wrong way and finding 5 street lights with no U-turns and ending up 15 minutes out of your way before you can turn around.
By the way, I'm running this on Firefly, which already has amazing GPS, and Google Navigation still can't track me anywhere near as well as TeleNav. On top of that, the screen can be set to be off unless you're at a turn - massive battery saver over Google Nav.
Hooray for a GPS program that works...stupid google maps...
Yeah I was trying to remember the OTA address for TN and when I was typing it in the browser, Google auto-filled the /tn for me and I figured the Vibrant 4G is pretty much a Galaxy S with HSPA+ 21Mbps, tried it, and it works fantastic.
Hehe us Captivate users should pressure the company to releasing one for the Captivate. Then again big brother AT&T might not allow them.
-Edit, tried to poke around the choices on the captivate and one link took me to the Market. Drum Roll, and displayed ATT Navigator.
Yeah, at&t navigator sucks ass compared to this version. Plus its a 6 dollar a month difference in cost or you can use it for free...
PERFECT! Also running on Firefly, locks in seconds!! Great find

Wow finally got a nav system that actually knows where i am. while all the gps fixes out there helped alot it actually seems to be a issue with google maps/nav. only thing i liked about google maps was the ability to have the map in the direction i was going . Methinks that a working nav/maps is better
once again Thanks for the info
Wow this is actually amazing!
