I'm currently behind a proxy at work and i could not find the proxy authentication settings in my phone. There are proxy url and proxy port at the advanced wifi settings screen but there are not any username and password fields.
When i use my pc (firefox) to connect to a web page, a prompt screen pops up for me to fill username and password for the proxy. But on my android default browser, it does not prompts for any info, it just shows 'could not connect to server' error message.
I'm using Perception 8.
Any help would be appreciated.
Check if this app can help you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=766569 as there is no authentication credentials settings for proxy (for now).
Edit: If the name based proxy address does not resolve correctly try using only the ip address.

Hey, I changed my settings to get internet with the EDGE plan and now I cant seemt to download messages. AOL or MSN. Every time I try it just says "Error Synchronizing" is there something I can do to download messages when I want and use the internet when I want. Or just make them both work at the same time would be much easier. Please help
are you using a proxy setting?
make a new connection,
name it email
access point is wap.voicestream.com
now open up your emails options and go the the account settings. on the outgoing (smtp) mail server option, theres a link "Advance server settings" select that and change the network connection to use email

All right thanks. That works much better than having to switch connections. Now one last request.Do you have any idea how I can get my accuweather to work with the proxy settings. Because it isnt downloading anything.
nope, the only weather app I use that can bypass the proxy correctly is weatherpanel
Is there any way to set a proxy address to Wi-Fi connection?
Or is there a way to add proxy ro IE/Opera/Youtube?
My School WiFi required a proxy to access the net.
Help will be appreciated.
Start Menu->Settings->Connections->Connections
Under "My Work Network", clic on "Set up my proxy server" and then... setup your proxy ^_^.
i thought that is for the gprs?

Yes this is also what I had thought. I have to set up a proxy in addition to the SecureW2 software client that I have to configure in order to connect to my University's Wi-Fi. I can set up SecureW2 fine, it will connect to the network, but I'm unable to set up the proxy properly.
Already tried the method still can't access internet.
Called HTC Tec support just now, they say you can only add proxy for gprs but not WiFi.
Any mod to add proxy to WiFi?
bump.......
This is very important, can anyone help?
Wifi Profiles Tool
Just try WifiProfiles from RStein - very convenient

yep i have... I am assuming that my exchange serve does not allow non-provisional devices.
yeah same problem with me...but i found a way around it
you have to go to your outlook and in the connection settings, enable outlook anywhere
i'll tell you step by step but the site does it better..
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HP101024441033.aspx
once your done, put the domain in your phone (the https site without the https)
let me know if that works

can you tell me you settings?
email: [email protected]
server address: xxxmail.com
domain: xxx
username: abcde
password: **** (includes a dot.)
SSL selected
At my outlook:
connection tab -> selected "Exchange over the Internet"
Under connection settings: Use this URL to connect to my proxy server for Exchange -> "https://xxxmail.com"
Proxy authentication settings -> NTLM Authntication
for the url, if the https:// is already written on the side you do not need to re-write it again...
then u tick the use SSL box, then tick the box under that and write "msstd:xxxmail.com"
and keep everything else the same...

Hello all,
I am new to android and ics, wanted to know if there is a way to configure Advanced features like username and password as our office WiFi has domain authentication with proxy configuration.
Appreciate any inputs.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I'm not sure about domain auth, however you can manually set the proxy / username / password / security type (WEP/WPA/WPA-PSK) per access point in ICS.
I don't think I was able to see any options to add user ID and password, it asks for the pass-phrase for the WEP, then it has advanced settings for proxy, but haven't seen an option to provide user ID and password.
