Running mcr 3.2, with stock keyboard everything is working fine, but when I tryed useing betterkeyboard in compact qwerty it allways works in xt9 mode. With the newer version I can switch it off (with that little button), but when I bring it up again or change landscape/portrait mode it restarts to xt9.
So every message I need to turn off xt9 and then start typing.
Can anyone help plz?
*all settings in betterkeyboard and stock one are off
I used CM6 for a while, but still find that DDv2.8 flys on my phone and reverted back to it. The only thing I miss is the Android keyboard on CM6, it had a few tweaks that I preferred over the keyboard on DD.
Is there an apk or a .zip that I can flash to get this keyboard? I really miss it =(
Moved to Q&A as not development

Those tweaks are because it's a 2.2 rom/keyboard. It won't work on 2.1, there's no framework for it

Do you mean the stock android keyboard?
Maybe, not too sure. Its the black keyboard with the 1-9 across the top. Also, after you press space bar, the !.?- functions all pop up in the option tab so you can easily end the sentence. In the DDv2.8 keyboard, you have to click on the corner # button to launch any punctuation. Does that make sense?
I've tried searching, but to no avail - I have installed the Gingerbread keyboard, and I cannot access the keyboard settings. I have tried Settings -> Keyboard as well as press and hold on the symbol key (this works with the Droid X keyboard just fine.) Am I missing something?
Thanks!
-- Never mind. If you just "press" on the gear key on the keyboard, the settings dialog is available.
Hi, i installed multiple apk file for gingerbread keyboard off and on market type apk. It installs fine but it use the original htc sense keyboard. I did checked gingerbread keyboard in setting --> language and keyboard.
Any help anyone?
Tap and hold where you can type (Ie, Google Search or Text) and change the "Input Method" to the Gingerbread keyboard.

I'm not sure why android continues to so this, but why can't they allow for long press options on the keyboard? My phone keyboard shows the numbers as long press options at the top, my tablet does not.
The only long press options on the keyboard are punctuations.
Is there a way to fix this? Use phone keyboard on tablet?

I wonder why that is as well. I looked through all the keyboard settings and didn't see an option for that but really would like to have it.
Try the Swype Beta keyboard (google it). Numbers are a long press.
Not really interested in swype or any of the other keyboard options. I like stock functions the best, just curious about the long press buttons missing in tablet format.
Personally that's the reason why I use stock keyboard on my Tablet. I use Swiftkey on my phone because it's quick, and the Gingerbread keyboard isn't as nice as the stock Jelly Bean. I really like how it isn't cluttered and is just clean.
