when sending SMS, the keyboard is missing half at the end, the last two row of the keyboard is missing. Anyone experiencing the same problem? what's the solution?

The default keyboard doesn't work with the google voice app. Most people are switching to the Droid x keyboard. It's better anyway.

Hey guys quick question, is there anyway to search in touchwiz or on the vzw note 2 for specific apps / files like on all other android phones? I cant seem to find a box to type in, and since I have hundreds of apps to manually search through this may be a deal breaker for me. I just switched from an iphone 5 to a droid dna to the note 2 all within the last week so I'm fairly new to Android. Sorry for the dumb question and hope someone can help (cant find anything online.)
use google search. it searches through the apps on the phone

How about Google Gesture Search ?!
No the Google search app that comes installed on any stock rom. If you type the name of the app, it first searches the phone.
Hold menu button..

Hi. My wife is a new HTC One owner....and is having a hard time.
She wants to use the native email app...as its good with using more then one gmail account...but it wont scale down to fit the screen. Is driving her batty. Is there a setting she is missing. I know the gmail app does that perfectly but isnt good with more then one account (or is it with the new update????)
Please someone....help
CSW
This frustrates me as well. While it does auto scale text emails it doesn't work on images. I've done quite a bit of searching and found no solutions for the stock mail app. And no, there are presently no settings you're missing. However the solution is coming; 4.2.2 has an option for this which will hopefully translate to sense 5
Best you can do for now is switch to a different app or rotate the phone.

My solution so far is a mixed bag.
Ive tried just putting my three gmail accounts in gmail and forgetting the native mail client. It solved the scale problem perfectly....but it doesnt have an All inbox..and switching from one e-mail to another was a pain in the ars.
I then went to aqua mail.....and so far thats the one im using.
Can you please (please) tell me more about how the e-mail will change in 4.2.2? That sounds interesting....have you heard when its coming (to the states and at&t)?
Thanks

Hmm good to know, thanks, maybe I'll try that client!
Here's some who find 4.2.2 has helped them with this issue:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/htc-one-x/178937-converted-ios-frustrated-email.html
Now that I think more about this it could be that 4.2 specifically improves this for Gmail, while the manufacturer apps may not (like HTCs)... But I still maintain hope that the added option in 4.2 will translate into the other one too. But to answer your question specifically the change is just a toggle switch.
It seems kind of stupid that this is even an issue considering how basic it is...All because android doesn't seem to play nice with HTML in email apparently

Edit: oh and about when we get the OTA, soon... ish... Hopefully... a lot of Europe got it last week so others shouldn't be terribly far behind. Keep an eye on the HTC One mega thread here on XDA, it'll likely show up in there first when it hits other regions.
So, I picked up a moto-x.
I was pretty much happy with 4.2 other than the att contacts/ sms app but I was gonna attempt to find a workaround for that after I got the phone set up.
However, when I finally got the phone just about where I wanted AT&T forced the 4.4 update down my throat. This changed a few more things that I want to fix.
I HATE being forced to use apps I don't want to use. The beauty of the motorola to me is the black/teal (Now white -_-) interface in all the menus including texting and contacts. Now I'm stuck using that garbage from AT&T or google hangouts, neither of which I want anything to do with. I have yet to find a way to disable it without root. I was thinking I could use the app sender to send the original apps from my Electrify M, Would that work?
Since the update, Google keyboard has.... hidden... the enter key. I have to hit shift to see an enter/return key in order to start a new line of text. That is BEYOND horrible. I did some digging on line and came across a thread (which I tried to link..... ) where, what I assume are google employee, are acting if asking for a fix is the same as asking for a new feature. That kind of attitude from google is kind of lame. I do not have an option to disable the smiley key and it seems like others that previously had the option have lost it. I may also try sending swype from my electrify M if it would work. Does anyone know a way to fix that smiley issue?
So, what do you guys think? I really don't want to root my phone, but my phone is a personal thing to me, and having it set up just how I like it means a lot. So would I be better off just rooting back to 4.2/4.3?
Would it be safe to try sending the apps from my USC Electrify M? (Text, people, contacts, swype)
Anyways,
Thanks in advance for any advice, tips ETC
Same Issue
Why not just use a keyboard from the play store... And a messaging app? You don't need root to do that.
Or did I miss something?

Or use RSDlite and go back to 4.2.2?

I don't understand? The stock sms app should still be on your phone, keyboards are plentiful in the play store.
Personally I love hangouts and wish more people would quit sms since I'm still on a limited plan.

best solution I fond with NO root needed in app for SMS called Textra SMS
install > change to default text app > replace Icon with new one the green "T"
and you done
all options inside work great NO ROOT
Came from a Nexus4 to Z3C, and my only and biggest dissapointment is the missing google dialer - I was not aware it is not available to non-nexus(play edition) phones. The KitKat dialer with quick local business-search is very handy, and I desperately want it back. I see that it can be done with root, but I also see rooting Z3 causes some issues with DRMs and such.
Does anyone know a way to get the google dialer working without root, or will we soon get a root method without compromising?
Use a third party dialer like dialer+ or ex dialer?

As far as I know this will not give the functionality I'm after?
The google dialer gives me ALL businesses that's not in my contacts(and has caller ID built-in):

The best replacement I've found is TrueDialler, its fairly similar in functionality in that it can tell you who is calling and it looks fairly stock like. You can use google search to get the same phone numbers you saw in the phone app.
any idea why this feature hasn't been rolled out more widely across non Nexus devices? Seems strange that Google would keep this to itself, and if they aren't keeping it to themselves I don't understand why other companies wouldn't integrate it.

No idea, but i also find it odd that a company like Sony would implement such a crummy dialer app when the stock Google version is so good. The Xperia dialer is THE worst of the altogether pretty bad basic apps Sony gives us (calendar, messaging, contacts etc.).

The exact part i miss is the auto search for businesses direct from dialer, does that function in truedialler? Incoming caller ID I already have through another domestic app.
The truedialer does search..! I love you, arj154! Just noe thing; do you know how to get special characters, æøå?

lol no problem, im not sure how to do special characters in truedialler and it looks like you cant do it for now but it might be something to ask the developers about, they could possibly add it in a future update. The only other way around it is possbily to search for those in google now.
Hi all.
I just loaded Repulsa's v5.1 ROM and I'm not getting the voice to text that I'd prefer. Typically when I use, say, google voice, the text is typed as I speak, directly into the text box. Right now I'm getting the below picture, where it then gives you choices regarding what you said (for accuracy). It's very slow this way.
All texting programs are having the same problem.
This is difficult to describe, but does anyone have a solution?
I did install the Google App, since VTT does not work at all without it.
Thank you!
you should ask that question in that Rom thread, not here
Thank goodness Android is mature and feature rich enough I don't have to flash ROM's anymore! I'm glad those days are over for me lol. I spent a lot of time on it.

Of course, and I have. But this could lead to answers that could help others as well. But thank you.
I found the solution, for anyone looking for it in the future:
Firstly; the Google app is required (Play Store), then you must turn on Google Voice Typing: Language and Input/ On-Screen Keyboard/ Manage Keyboards/ Google Voice Typing, turn ON.
Voilà.
