Hey guys quick question, is there anyway to search in touchwiz or on the vzw note 2 for specific apps / files like on all other android phones? I cant seem to find a box to type in, and since I have hundreds of apps to manually search through this may be a deal breaker for me. I just switched from an iphone 5 to a droid dna to the note 2 all within the last week so I'm fairly new to Android. Sorry for the dumb question and hope someone can help (cant find anything online.)
use google search. it searches through the apps on the phone

How about Google Gesture Search ?!
No the Google search app that comes installed on any stock rom. If you type the name of the app, it first searches the phone.
Hold menu button..

I am not sure how many others out there may have experienced the issues I am about to describe, but it is extremely annoying. So I am asking all devs out there to please hear out this issue. I have searched all over for a solution with no result.
ISSUE:
Every action I perform in the Market takes nearly about 1 minute. So for instance, just opening Market takes about 1 minute to load the default Market home screen. So then I see an app I am curious of and click on it. It then takes another minute before the content about the app is fully displayed. Then lets say I want to install the app and click install. If permissions are required, it then takes another minute before that dialog fully displays with the OK/Cancel buttons. Then when the install completes, I can see in the notification bar that the application installed successfully, but the status of the app in the Market remains in the Installing state until I reboot my phone.
Other issues I have noticed is that going to GAMES --> ALL GAMES or APPS --> ALL APPS, I do not see the top paid apps or top paid games.
I have seen this behavior for all apps purchased and free.
Here are other factors. I have experienced this issue on both stock and custom ROMS. I am a big fan of Cyanogen and have tried the various methods on his wiki with no success. I have experienced this issue on different phones as well (i.e. MyTouch & Nexus One). I called Nexus One support and ran through all of their usual troubleshooting methods with no success. They eventually gave up and told me it was a T-Mobile problem.
Here's the other odd issue is that if I wipe my phone and log in with my wife's account, I don't have this problem. Google suggested I setup a new account, but that is not happening. I have had my gmail account since the beginning of time when they first offered trials for gmail. I also have purchased around 70 apps through the market.
Here is a logcat output I captured while attempting to download an app:
http://pastebin.com/BXWkS8DJ
Any help would be greatly appreciated because I am now starting to lose interest in the Market because of this issue.
Thanks!
wrong section. q&a is where you wanna be
I am having the same issues and it sucks... sorry I cant help.. just wanted to let you know your not alone and it should be looked into
I understand where your going with that. I have posted the same in the newbie section with 0 responses. This section is where the magic happens. So I was hoping one of the devs out here might give a helping hand to figure out this issue. I have posted in the Market forums with 0 replys. I have contacted Google support directly with no luck other than directing me to T-Mobile blaming their service as the issue, even though I get the same problem over wireless.

Hey I appreciate the support man and I am glad to know that I am not the only one with this annoying issue. I have been a loyal customer to allot of these great devs out there and have purchased over 70 apps on my phone and then repaid for lots of those on my wifes phone just because I truly believe in supporting great talent. But ever since I have been having this issue (since moving from my G1 to the MyTouch and still with the Nexus), I haven't even had the interest to browse the market for new apps.
I did some looking around today, to no avail. Im looking for an app that I can use while driving that has quick links to music, calls, gps, etc. I found like 1, but it was really really ugly. Has anyone seen anything like this?
I just want something so that I dont have to navigate all the way through my phone while driving.
Search the Market for Captivate and there is a free one from Samsung called "Car Home"
Youre my hero. Ive never done that, I didnt know samsung had any device specific apps. Thank you very much for the fast response =]
I can't find this for the life of me, and tried various ways to search for it in the market.
I just cant seem to get it.
maybe its AT&T restricted?
does anyone have the apk for this?
FYI i'm using an Australian Telstra Sim, and stock JH7 AT&T
when sending SMS, the keyboard is missing half at the end, the last two row of the keyboard is missing. Anyone experiencing the same problem? what's the solution?

registering for an account just to post a question that has been answered countless times is not a great way to get started here.
The default keyboard doesn't work with the google voice app. Most people are switching to the Droid x keyboard. It's better anyway.

Thanks a lot!
Maybe a dumb question, but,
how does one switch to the Droid X keyboard?
Came from a Nexus4 to Z3C, and my only and biggest dissapointment is the missing google dialer - I was not aware it is not available to non-nexus(play edition) phones. The KitKat dialer with quick local business-search is very handy, and I desperately want it back. I see that it can be done with root, but I also see rooting Z3 causes some issues with DRMs and such.
Does anyone know a way to get the google dialer working without root, or will we soon get a root method without compromising?
Use a third party dialer like dialer+ or ex dialer?

As far as I know this will not give the functionality I'm after?
The google dialer gives me ALL businesses that's not in my contacts(and has caller ID built-in):

The best replacement I've found is TrueDialler, its fairly similar in functionality in that it can tell you who is calling and it looks fairly stock like. You can use google search to get the same phone numbers you saw in the phone app.
any idea why this feature hasn't been rolled out more widely across non Nexus devices? Seems strange that Google would keep this to itself, and if they aren't keeping it to themselves I don't understand why other companies wouldn't integrate it.

No idea, but i also find it odd that a company like Sony would implement such a crummy dialer app when the stock Google version is so good. The Xperia dialer is THE worst of the altogether pretty bad basic apps Sony gives us (calendar, messaging, contacts etc.).

The exact part i miss is the auto search for businesses direct from dialer, does that function in truedialler? Incoming caller ID I already have through another domestic app.
The truedialer does search..! I love you, arj154! Just noe thing; do you know how to get special characters, æøå?

lol no problem, im not sure how to do special characters in truedialler and it looks like you cant do it for now but it might be something to ask the developers about, they could possibly add it in a future update. The only other way around it is possbily to search for those in google now.
Hello people!
I want to address to everyone who can help!
I need an app for Android Pie with very simple but hard to find feature. Auto answer phone call from pre selected list of callers.
I have never thought that it could be a hard to find app, but my friend who drive a bike and already had 2 tickets for using his phone when driving asked me to find an app that can automatically pick up the phone when his boss, wife and son call him. First moment I thought I will need like 10 seconds to find it but, after trying about 15 apps I found that none of them actually work. The one that works on my phone with android 8, but is not supported by android 9 and we could not even install it. He has SM-G955U - galaxy S8+ and he updated his phone recently to Pie.
If anyone knows working app could be free or paid which support this feature I would really appreciate your help.
Most of the apps that claim they support it are outdated and were updated 2-3 years ago. We tried about 15 of them and none of them work. It could be simple app or complicated project with tons of features it doesn't matter. We just need phone auto answer calls when this feature is active.
We did it already
