I like all these different Themes and Bootanimations.. Themes can be changed so easily thru the Settings.. But what about BootAnimations ??
Hopeing someone could make a bootanimation app where we just need to tell it what ZIP file we want for the bootanimation and where the bootanimation file is stored (data/local or system/media) and the app automatically changes the ZIP to bootanimation.zip and flashes it to the right directory...
Anyone wanna try it?

Could it be done? Sure.
Why not use a file manager like andexplorer and just move the anim you want to your media folder if you want to change the anim?
3 steps really...
1. Open file manager
2. Copy anim.
3. Paste into media folder
If there was an app...
1. Open app
2. Select anim
3. Save settings
I don't see a real benefit to having an anim-app to do it.

I've been searching for a while (with no luck) on how to install custom icons for your apps on MIUI. I'm talking about individual icons, not icon packs, and not ones in themes.
I've seen this thread but I can't find the locations they are talking about.
Does anyone know how to do this?
Bump
Can anybody help?
I've tried This and it didn't work either.
Transfer your theme file (the mtz) to your computer, change the file ending from mtz to zip.
Unzip it, open the "icons" folder and then you're ready
When finished, zip all the folders again, change it to mtz, and voila!

Have tried it. I change the .mtz to .zip, extract the files, change an icon in the "icons" folder, zip the file back up, change it to .mtz and it doesn't work.
When I say it doesn't work, I mean, when I do 'import theme', it tries to, but no new themes show up in my 'offline themes'.
Also I've changed the .mtz to .rar and extracted it that way, turned it into a RAR again, and changed it to .mtz. Still nothing. Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong?
Do I need my icons template to be the same size as all of my icons? Is something getting corrupted, or what do you think is going wrong?
I konw that the import themes works for normal themes though because I've done it.
Ok, so I'm trying to add icons to this theme, I don't have a computer, let that be known. So my exact process, all done my phone is:
Open androzip
Rename mtz to zip
Extract zip to folder
Rename icons to icons.zip
Extract icons.zip into folder
Replace icons with proper activity names.
Multiple select and zip icons, not the folder but the individual files.
Rename to icons
Move to parent folder
Edit description.xml
Zip files into themename.zip
Rename zip to mtz
Open file explorer and click new mtz
Screen flashes and I get warning message of "theme does not have the required resources" and closes.
Please, tell me where I'm going wrong?

You don't HAVE to edit the xml.
To select a theme you have to do it in theme manager not file explorer.
Um, thanks, but I doubt it's my problem, I've tried that.

Upload your mtz and I'll check it out.
I know sometimes when I'm editing mtzs on my phone I'll zip a folder by accident instead of just the files.
If it's saying no resource something, it's not reading the files. Possibly a folder too much....

Thanks again.

Alright....yeah you had the icon folder doubled up. icons.zip/icons.zip/
But i fixed it for you and made the preview folder. All you have to do is take off the .zip extension as you could see it's "hfg.mtz.zip" i just threw the.zip to be able to upload it to xda.
Cheers
thanks guy~

I beg your pardon, but to me this doesnt make sense; you rename it, then save it(copy and paste) to /data/local
But, there is no existing bootanimation.zip there in /data/local already. Am i missing something obvious here? apologies for noob question, but i cant find a solution; some guys advising how to change bootanimation say something completly different

Try /system/media
It's either /data/local, /system/media, or /system/customize/resource. Guides need to include this because every ROM is designed differently. Anyway, nice boot animation OP.

Hi, make sure your Root/ES Explorer has permissions. I'm using ES explorer and check the settings/preferences making sure "Up to Root" and "Root Explorer" options are checked. You may wanna download ES Explorer to do this. Also, don't forget to Fix the Permissions using your Recovery or ROM manager just to make sure.
I am running stock 2.3.6 on the Samsung Galaxy SII T-989 for t-mobile. I have it rooted with root explorer. I See a couple files Samsungboot and Samsungbootloop in/ system/media and put 123 after the file extension. I pulled a bootanimation.zip from 4shared and pasted it in the dir.
Reboot and still get the Tmobile boot. I don't need a custom ROM also do I? Also, can anyone point me to compatible animations IF that's the problem?
Any ideas?

You can't view that file unless your phone is rooted. But i believe i saw a post that you can still customize bootanimation by using adb to push it or android SDK.

Make sure the permissions are rw/r/r.
I did and those files are still renamed. There is a bootanimation file in/ system/bin also but no file extention. Do I even have the right files renamed? I did not extract bootanimation.zip I copied to there.

How did you do that ?I mean i understand the part0,part1 folders, desc.txt and saving every frame, first one as 10001.png, the second one as 10002.png, and so on.
I just want to know how do you create the custom animation ?Generally, you can just download a video and extract the frames and the put them in a sequence. But,what if you want to create an animation using your own pic or something like that ?I don't understand how to draw your own frames. How would you do that ?

We can these two files and copy it to the / system / app with Explorer with access to the root.
Original files in this folder can be copied to the memory card as a backup.
Our new files we give permission rw-r-r
Reboot system.
Tested on Android 4.1.2

Boot animations
CUSTOM BOOT ANIMATION
I will take requests and make personnel boot animations for you just let me know what device you have and what you want pics are always helpful!
INSTRUCTIONS:
Step #1
You'll need a proper root browser. JRummy's Root Browser is a good pick, but you can use an alternative, too
Step #2
Once installed, go to the root folder and navigate through system > media. Once there, locate your current bootanimation.zip file.
Step #3
Long-press your current bootanimation.zip file, and click copy, as we'll want to have a backup just in case. Install it wherever convenient for you, we chose the root folder
Step #4
assuming that you already have a bootanimation.zip file that you want to replace your current animation with. Load it onto your phone (we had it in /sdcard/DCIM/), locate it, and again long-press it. Click move...
*Step #5
Once your new bootanimation.zip has been selected for moving, navigate back to system > media and paste it there. You'll have to overwrite your current animation zip, but that's fine since you have a backup in case something goes wrong. Go for it....
6.
For many of you, the previous step will be the last step. But, if for any reason you're still stuck with you old animation, you can try aligning the permissions of your newly-copied bootanimation.zip file with the permissions in the system/media folder. In our case, those were rwxr-xr-x. Just long-press your new bootanimation.zip file and click Permissions and change them until they fit. The logic behind these abbreviations goes like this: Owner - Group - Other. Read for 'r', Write for 'w', and Execute for 'x'. Save the changes and restart...
