Ok, so I'm trying to add icons to this theme, I don't have a computer, let that be known. So my exact process, all done my phone is:
Open androzip
Rename mtz to zip
Extract zip to folder
Rename icons to icons.zip
Extract icons.zip into folder
Replace icons with proper activity names.
Multiple select and zip icons, not the folder but the individual files.
Rename to icons
Move to parent folder
Edit description.xml
Zip files into themename.zip
Rename zip to mtz
Open file explorer and click new mtz
Screen flashes and I get warning message of "theme does not have the required resources" and closes.
Please, tell me where I'm going wrong?

Bump?

You don't HAVE to edit the xml.
To select a theme you have to do it in theme manager not file explorer.
Um, thanks, but I doubt it's my problem, I've tried that.

Upload your mtz and I'll check it out.
I know sometimes when I'm editing mtzs on my phone I'll zip a folder by accident instead of just the files.
If it's saying no resource something, it's not reading the files. Possibly a folder too much....

Thanks again.

Alright....yeah you had the icon folder doubled up. icons.zip/icons.zip/
But i fixed it for you and made the preview folder. All you have to do is take off the .zip extension as you could see it's "hfg.mtz.zip" i just threw the.zip to be able to upload it to xda.
Cheers
thanks guy~

I like all these different Themes and Bootanimations.. Themes can be changed so easily thru the Settings.. But what about BootAnimations ??
Hopeing someone could make a bootanimation app where we just need to tell it what ZIP file we want for the bootanimation and where the bootanimation file is stored (data/local or system/media) and the app automatically changes the ZIP to bootanimation.zip and flashes it to the right directory...
Anyone wanna try it?

Could it be done? Sure.
Why not use a file manager like andexplorer and just move the anim you want to your media folder if you want to change the anim?
3 steps really...
1. Open file manager
2. Copy anim.
3. Paste into media folder
If there was an app...
1. Open app
2. Select anim
3. Save settings
I don't see a real benefit to having an anim-app to do it.

Hi all,
Trying to mod the framework for the first time.
I have no problem replacing the png. But when i try to modify the xml, i get bootloop.
I used the apk manager (4.9) to decompile the apk, then edit one xml before i recompile. I did notice that the recompiled apk is at least 2MB smaller than the original.
Am i missing a step here?

Hi
yap ,,,the generated apk is unsigned...and no sign for system apk..so you have to copy by drag & drop the following files from the unsigned apk onto the original apk via WinRar and choosing ZIP archive format, NORMAL compression method.
- resources.arsc file
- res folder
- classes.dex file if exisit in the non-system apks
hope that help
good luck

Ah,
I was thinking this as a possible workaround so it looks like it is thr solution?
Just a confirmation, if i change the battery_charging.xml, then i should compile, then extract out the battery_charging.xml from the recompiled framework-res.apk and insert into the original, signed framework-res.apk?

I tried taking the compiled xml ( that defines the animation of battery charging icon on the status bar), put into the original framework-res.apk, and end up with non existent icon for the battery charging. Everything else remains working though.
What could have gone wrong?

I've been searching for a while (with no luck) on how to install custom icons for your apps on MIUI. I'm talking about individual icons, not icon packs, and not ones in themes.
I've seen this thread but I can't find the locations they are talking about.
Does anyone know how to do this?
Bump
Can anybody help?
I've tried This and it didn't work either.
Transfer your theme file (the mtz) to your computer, change the file ending from mtz to zip.
Unzip it, open the "icons" folder and then you're ready
When finished, zip all the folders again, change it to mtz, and voila!

Have tried it. I change the .mtz to .zip, extract the files, change an icon in the "icons" folder, zip the file back up, change it to .mtz and it doesn't work.
When I say it doesn't work, I mean, when I do 'import theme', it tries to, but no new themes show up in my 'offline themes'.
Also I've changed the .mtz to .rar and extracted it that way, turned it into a RAR again, and changed it to .mtz. Still nothing. Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong?
Do I need my icons template to be the same size as all of my icons? Is something getting corrupted, or what do you think is going wrong?
I konw that the import themes works for normal themes though because I've done it.
Is there anyway to extract icons out of them if not?
You have to be on miui to /use/ it, but otherwise it is simply a zip. Change the file name to .zip if you need to, and pop it open.
extracting it worked but the icons are a Unix executable file...how to you get the icons out of this file?
Wha?
Um...
Oh, right. Probably a new format .mtz
Change the icons to .zip aswell, and any other folder you want to open too.
I just extracted one too, but the icon file is not a mtz. Any thoughts?
just rename icons to icons.zip and extract
Im using 7zip and take the png and icon and convert to cm7 themes

Hello I need some help zipping up a theme. I used to use 7zip to add or switch up stuff in themes.but for some reason this theme wont let me do this. So my question is after renaming com.android.mms to com.android.mms.zip and extract everything I get a folder and inside it there is Res and the other folders. My question is how do I zip it back after doing all this? Do I click the option "add to compress folder". When I do that option I get a zip but after I extract the contents from com.android.mms, it has another folder named com.android.mms and inside it is the other folders.
