Calendars are now syncing per Feisty Noodles hack.. I want to say contacts is the last of the common phone gapps that needs to be ported to the NC...

Indeed. I wonder if the contacts apk from the one calendars were pulled from would be the first place to look

Calendar is over contacts, no question.. but I am tending to read/respond to emails if the tablet is nearby on it rather than the phone, and it'd be nice to have my contacts there so I can send new or CC people using it.
I've read that Touchdown will do the trick, but it's an expensive trick

I really want it for google voice sms

Tested the ContactsProvider.apk and Contacts.apk from the same rom package as the calendar apks but it was a no-go, the apk's wouldn't install. Going to try a couple other apks to see if I have any luck.

Did u try installing or just copying to system apps? I think you just copy

Tried both ways. Installing failed and copying to system/apps had no effect.
Posted from my ROOTED Barnes& Noble NookCOLOR

what happened when you copied? maybe it needs the accounts.xml modified to be synced like with the calendar?

I found a method of getting Contacts.apk actually working, but it won't sync with Google Contacts.
I was, however, able to export my Google Contacts to a file from the website and use the Contacts' app "import from SD" card.
It took a lot of trial and error, so I'm not sure how to replicate the steps it took me. I know I modified the /data/system/packages.xml to accept unsigned apps, and put the contacts and contactsprovider into /system/app/
Your mileage may vary.

Interesting, what are the steps u remember?

Sync Calendar at least
I'm using the "Synker" app to sync my calendar to google and its working real good for me, the only thing is you need to push a button on the widget to sync. Still alot simpler than all the other stuff I was trying

deleting contacts

any way to delete all contacts without deleteing one by one?
i've got 4 of everything!
thanks
Go to your google account online, it will prolly be faster that way.
I had a similar issue when I first bought the phone. The problem is that you inadvertently imported you contacts off your sim card, then once you signed in and synced up with google, it imported your contacts from there as well.
As supreme mentioned, go into your google account on a PC and manage your contacts that way, deleting the ones that are repeats. But to make sure it doesn't happen again, delete the database file through terminal or adb on the phone, THEN resync with google and you should have all the correct contacts as displayed in your google account.
woah! how do i delete the database lol?
and what database do i delete?
i can use adb but prefer terminal!
thanks

import contacts w/o google account

Hey there,
this maybe a nooby question... but i read a lot, tried a lot and did not find an answer to the following:
I am using CyanogenMod-4.2.15.1 with Wysie Contacts V2.7 on my G1 and i'm looking for a way to import my contacts to the phone offline.
So to say, a simple import without using google account.
I never used google to take care of my private data and that's why i don't want to put everything up on their servers to simply import my personal addresses.
I'd simply like to have all phone numbers, e-mail addresses and other contacts fields right in place, that's it.
I followed several how-to's but nothing worked out like it should.
The possibility of Wysie Contacts to import my SIM contacts is no proper way, because any additional information is gone.
Also some of the apps on the market (e.g. Andook Lite, vCardIO) did not work out properly using Wysie Contacts.
Is there any way to create a database or anything on my host.
Maybe also an editor or anything.....
It is really annoying
Aynone tried this using CyanogenMod-4.2.15.1:

Any help or hint would be appreciated!

I don't think there's a way. Also, G1 will sync all contacts to Google anyway, so might as well go that route.
Hey borodin1,
thanks for the reply!

G1 will only sync all contacts if you allow the phone to do so...
I know it sounds little crazy, but it should be possible to use a Google OS without using Google services.
Apart form that, this project looks promising.

Come on guys.... there must be a way.
All i need is a simple import function...

Just so you know... if you manage to accomplish this and then later (for whatever reason) attempt to sync with Google it may cause problem and even duplicate entries. Unfortunately I am not aware of any such resolution.
Perhaps import everything to your gmail, let it sync, remove the Contacts sync and then remove them from you gmail via pc. this way you should have everything in your contacts and the google.com server should be clear of your entries. This is all theoretical though. Good luck!
Hey Binary100100,

BTW, anyone knows something about the format of the contacts database?

[Q] Exchange active sync

Help Please
My contacts don't sync with exchange server 2007 sp1. Mail & Calendar work flawlessly. Don't want to use Touchdown.
I searched all over but didn't find a solution. Thanks
I don't have any issues. You could try deleting the account, clearing the data in the individual apps and then setting it up again.

I have a similar issue. Contacts will sync the first time, but never again after that. One trick I used to make it work was to initially set my sync at five minutes and to let it sit for an hour until it all synced (I have close to 2000 contacts). After it was done syncing I switched to push.
I switched to the kitkat email/exchange for a little while, it worked much better. I was having problems with unread counts so I changed back.

I gave up and use Touchdown for the contacts and the native clients for mail & calendar. The only drawback is I have to enter a nes contact in the Touchdown app and the native app. I hope this will work in kitkat

not sure this works, but are you sure that those contacts are selected to show up under your contacts? I'm sure they are but i thought i would throw it out there since someone said that it will search for them in the address bar but not show them up under contacts. Might jsut be a settings button for that.
On another note, i saw in another email thread that someone set their phone up with the certificates to ssl/tls (accept all certificates) instead of the stock ssl/tls setting. (not sure the ssl/tls is right but its some set of letters lol).

Thanks for your response. I have all my contacts in the primary contacts folder. I even got rid of the subfolders because I know that jb doesn't do subfolders. I couldn't even get an initial sync for contacts. It won't find them in the address bar either

[Q] Please Help Me Fix Calendar

I have an ATT Active running 4.4.2 and I uninstalled my stock calendar thinking I would stop the duplicate notifications. Unfortunately I learned that now my google calendar won't open and I can't sync it. I used TI backup to uninstall and then I restored calendar storage but I can't find my calendar apk to restore (don't know what happened to it). I have searched and downloaded Splanner apk and calendar provider apk's but I can't get the calendar's to open. I'm guessing the apk's I am finding aren't compatible with my phone? Can someone please help me and let me know what I need to reinstall just to get google calendar up and running so it can sync? I really depend on it for work and I'm struggling to keep track of my schedule without it.
Anyone? Really could use some help.

What about the Google Calendar app? I always install Google Calendar from the Play Store, and then use TiBu to uninstall the stock calendar app, I've never had any trouble doing this on several devices
Thank you for the reply. I installed the Google calendar but it won't open and I'll get calendar error messages at random while using the phone. I must have unistalled something else that doesn't allow Google calendar to work. Do you have any suggestions on what I should look for?
Little help please. I'm still stuck with no working calendar.
standalone calendar that works?
Somewhat off topic but is at least a basic calender that might work, but may not sync with google calendar.
Calender is one of the things that is not well defined as to what you need for it to work. I'm attempting to get some basic calender functionality without installing gapps framework. I have a TB Cyanogenmod account that may allow Android or Google Calender to work without a Google account?
After trying several calendar apps at f-droid without success, Jorte Calendar seems to work good as a standalone app for a sans gapps system.
Thanks for the reply. Is this calendar my last option? Is there no way, without wiping my phone and starting from scratch, to replace whatever apk's are missing? I would really like to just install what is missing and continue using the phone. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to get calendar working by replacing the apk's you deleted, we just need to know what apk's you deleted so we can send you the replacements.
Thanks for the quick response. As far as I can tell the apk that I am missing is the calendar apk. Is there a way to compare the apk's that I have compared to what I should have? Thanks again.

Google Calender 5.0 .apk:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxnEA1OTspCUTWRJQ2lIRkpIaEE/view?usp=sharing
Thanks for the apk. Unfortunately I keep having the same problem as before when I downloaded Google calendar. When I try to open calendar I get "Unfortunately calendar has stopped" and I also get the same error message for Exchange services simultaneously. Does this give any clues as to what might be missing?
I had similar issue as well when I was uninstalling stuff. After a couple months of not having a properly functioning calender I tried out Today Calender Pro when it was on sale. It works great. Might be worth a shot.

You could try opening the app details and deleting it's data. That may fix Exchange services at least, but didn't fix google calendar for me. I'm in the same boat as you, just not dependent on syncing with google.
If you have a good recovery option, you can make a backup and try flashing gapps again:

Moving all events from one calendar to another

I have a local calendar on my N6. I would like to change the calendar for all the events in this calendar to another (network) calendar. Alternatively, failing that, I would like to copy all the events to another calendar.
How do I do that?

I'd say use the Google calendar, that can be synced across multiple devices. If that's not what you meant to do, you would prolly have to export a .CSV file onto a pc and then load the CSV file to the new device.
And that's why Google is soooo much easier!

No, it's a Nexus 6, which is why I'm posting here. I suspect that this isn't device specific but I wasn't sure.
I have a local calendar that is the result of importing a lot of ical entries. What I'm trying to achieve is to move the entries in this calendar to a caldav calendar. I don't mind using Google temporarily (although I'd prefer not to) but I don't want to use Google permanently and even if I did, I don't know how to get the local calendar entries syncing with a network (either Google or caldav) calendar.

I don't know a whole lot about this besides syncing to Google and back again which sounds like more work than you need to do. I found a link on iCal to iDev... and there are a few other resource links in it too.
