Ah... the day that geeks fear and dread is coming up... so which one of you XDAers have prepared for Valentine's this year?
As for me and mine, we have already exchanged gifts ahead of time (she's going back to China on the 14th)

Its our 11th anniversary on the 15th so there`s nothing left to get, I`ll have to make a trip to Tesco`s, I really know how to spoil it, I mean her..
As for anything planned, jaysus, I`ll probably end up having a choke with me yolk a few times and then get her to have a go, then sleepy time........looking forward to the 12th!!!!!?????

Well, I'm actually not that far in the relationship with this girl but if I was I would let her decide what we should do during the day (shopping or whatever she wants to do). At the evening I would prepare a delicious homemade dinner with starter and dessert, give her a massage and probably suffer through a romantic movie (I would concentrate more on the cuddling with her than the story though)
I would probably also give her some jewelry at the dinner if I could afford it but... I'm a student ^^

We don't do Valentine's day.. because we are cheap like that

Flowers, nice dinner, movie, and some random inside joke type presents. Nothing super original, but definitely did the trick

From my estimates, the "geek" subspecies of humanity will be extinct by 2060-ish.
Only 2 are prepared for this event, while the rest are unprepared or even unaware of the existence of said event.

I procrastinated, didn't get anything, just told her I'd take her to the book store. She was happy. She got me the BBC Planet Earth on blu ray.

I met a girl on the cruise ship I was on for the last 4 months. She's still there... looks like I'm off the hook? lololol

No. Diarrhea spits.
Looks like a nice place. I was cycling about a month or so back at a hill/forest reserve. Love the trees, but my legs and heart disagree.

I've found the last couple of weeks have flown past. Though it was just me but a couple of other people have commented to me about it too. Perhaps time is *actually* running faster than normal?

I train atleast twice a day, sometimes 3...everyday except sunday...even tho I have trouble resting sunday...lol

I don't have the time to train, but in my unit I'm a part of the combatives team. It's a lot of grappling and wrestling, though not much striking. I've been looking into some muay thai gyms, and the boxing team our unit has too. I'd love to get into it..
I think I saw that you're a middleweight, right? Do you train in specific arts or is your gym an MMA gym? A few of my friends train and fight amateur in Rhode Island for a strictly MMA gym. There are no specific classes like boxing mon, weds, fri, bjj tues, thurs, etc... it's just MMA every day. Is there a benefit or disadvantage to that, I wonder.
I'd love to hear how some of your workouts go down. Might help me out a bit.

all these satellites and crap floating up in the stratosphere, and falling back down as they age, it's making the future picture in Max Headroom more and more closer to reality

Don't forget that a lot is coming down even as we put more up, and what comes down mostly burns up safely in the atmosphere. I watched a beautiful re-entry event from my garden one night, as something that glowed green as it burned, streaked towards the ground before splitting into numerous fragments.
*In the event that this happens i'm buying every share i can in Skype. VOIP would take off like a rocket!

Could have been anything and it was a long time ago! It was eerie and quite unexpected though. I just always look up while i'm outside smoking at night. Force of habit!
It annoyed me when people started mouthing off recently about how NASA couldn't predict where that last one was coming down. If by putting spin on it, you can make a tennis ball swerve by two metres over the length of a tennis court, imagine what unpredictable path an irregular shaped object falling through one-hundred kilometres of atmosphere could take!

YOu know I'm taking some of it if parts of it fall in NYC. And I'll try to be there before the FBI/CIA/Secret Service/Army/Navy/Coast Guard/Aliens/BBQ gets to the location.

In America the clocks get adjusted to fit the seasonal change in daylight hours.
It's because some jobs are dependent upon hours of daylight, so instead of just waking up earlier, we go to all the trouble of changing our clocks by an hour twice a year.

DST does not apply to most countries that are close to the equator, as the length of the day does not change much from Summer to Winter.
Singapore (Montoyatok's location) happens to be one of them, although DST did apply once.
P.S. If you are in the U.K., some banks shut their ATMs down over this period, (1 to 2 am, Sunday) to stop the transactions being screwed up by the time change. Progress!

There are a lot of people that want to stop doing it, me included. But then all of these parents start screaming "think of the children". They are afraid that their urchins will get run over if it is dark out when they are waiting for the school bus.

That's what happens when you live on a Gas Giant.

Actually, there are some energy benefits to DST. It allows us to consume less barrels of oil for energy with the clocks rolled forward. Now if we get greener energy sources in the US, then I'm all for scrapping it...

Showing my age here, but any Brits remember the experiment from 1968 to 1971 when the UK remained on British Summer Time all year?
In Northern England we went to school in the dark, in Scotland it was even worse, the dark lasted longer. We had to wear stupid PVC tabards with reflective panels front and back, that nearly made you pass out from the fumes from the plastic.
It ran for two years before they ditched the idea.
