[Q] Rom manager signature working with 3e? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So was there an update to rom manager with a new signature file? I wasn't able to do a backup before running 3e and now all of a sudden it's working, i've done two so i'm assuming they have the sig file now? Can anyone confirm?

No. you still need recovery 2e or 3e without verification

[Q] Need help - 2e recovery and or CWM

Hey guys (and girls)
Ok, my problem is that I really want to flash the new DOCs rom. However im getting stuck on the part where the installation guide says to enter into 2e recovery. My phone stock boots into 3e recovery, and simply applying update.zip doesnt work.
A friend told me the problem is in the fact that I dont have 2e recovery - but that this can be fixed by installing Rom Manager. Now I have done this also flashed the CWM, the device is also rooted. I have tried flashing different versions of the recovery, however it gives me an error message upon pressing reboot into recovery: e: error in /cache/update.zip
(Status 2)
Applying multi-csc
Installation aborted
and it still enters "regular" recovery mode.
I have read the attached FAQ in docs thread, but it doesnt seem to adress the issue where one cannot enter 2e recovery.
- Note - found one page in the forum that said to go into the settings of rom manager and select "erase recovery" - and then reflash it. My rom manager doesnt have this option. It is the premium version however.
Is there possibly anyway of flashing docs rom through Odin? or what do I do ?
Kind regards.
The reason why you need 2e is to be able to install CWM. If you already have CWM, then move to the part where you copy doc's files to your SD....
try flashing hardcore's speedmod kernel K9A. that gives you CWM (if don't have CWM yet).

[Q] ROM Manager

I bought ROM manager and backed-up my 2.1 ROM, then upgraded to 2.2 using ODIN, everything works fine
Except I cannot backup my new ROM:
Verifying update package
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
–Applying Muti-CSC …
Installing Multi-CSC
Installation aborted.
From day one when I do Download ROM all I get is Extras: Superuser 2.3.1
I get the same message.
I'm rooted and with busybox
same here i was just going to post about it.. mine is xjpu and its factory updated to 2.2 froyo .. i want to back up my rom first before flashing another rom any help will be appreciated thanks
Is not really an issue unless of course your CSC has changed and you want it back to your original country specific CSC.
Install SGS Toolbox and see what CSC you currently have. If it's correct, then just disregard the message.
Superuser = Root

Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

Hi Guys,
I'm kinda new hear, so I'm not quite sure if it's okay to ask my question here.
I installed the ROM-Manager after rooting my i9000 (2.1). But I'm not able to install Clockwork Mod Recovery because every time I hit "Flash Clockwork Mod Recovery" nothing happens. Does anybody has an idea how I can install the ClockworkMod Recovery?
Thanks!
I tested on mine and it does ask for the Phone model, then installs, every time...
Flash this so you'll get 2e recovery for installing unsigned zip's, that is needed to install CWM Recovery.

I still have a 2.1 Firmware, so there is 2e recovery.
ROM Manager doesn't even ask me which phone model I have.
edit: Okay it seems like the Installation of CWM Recovery does'nt work with 2.1, at least installation using ROM Manager. I updated to Froyo and it worked then. Thanks for your help anyway.
I now use ROM Kitchen from DOC, and ROM Manager still says it cannot update, what is that app for
Waste of money...

[Q] e signature verification failed installation aborted

hi guys, everytime i try to flash update.zip from recovery i get the error.
i hav froyo xwjpa and vodoo lagfix ,

Are you running 3e recovery? If so you need 2e or cwm

how can i do that
I have the same issue. What's the 3e or 2e recovery?
you need to flash a cwm update.zip file which then installs older 2e bootloader which allows unsigned zips. You can find the link to a cwm update.zip from darky's legendary steel rom. Just follow the instructions but don't bother installing the rom (I recommend you do as its quite good)
The solution that I found was installing CWM v3.0.0.0 by flashboot (CMD Windows) because my nexus s was getting a freeze on Google screen (after RECOVERY) during the process of rooting.

[Q] problems with clockworkmod recovery

I have rom manager and flashed my clockwork recovery.... but when i choose to reboot into clockwork recovery it goes to my regular recovery menu(i think).... then i go down to reinstall packages and i looks like it starts a process(i see a status bar) but it never finishes the update and says E:failed to verify whole-file singature E: signature verification failed installation aborted. what am i doing wrong? i am new to android rooting but i was very savvy at hacking(jailbreaking and unlocking) iphones. i have 2.2 froyo rooted on my captivate and i'm trying to get serendipity 3.0....... thanks for any help!
Wrong section, let flames engulf you
You need to swap kernels or flash back to stock. Leaked 2.2 will not use unsigned zips like clockwork
how do i swap kernels?

You can follow my guide here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=909213 , takes literally 10seconds, but others will tell you to flash with Odin

[Q] Problem Reinstalling Packages with UXJL1

Hi Guys,
So here is my problem:
I updated my Captivate from Samsung to Froyo.
I rooted my with Super One Click.
I then downloaded ROM Manager from the Market.
Then used it to Flash ClockworkMod Recovery (Current Recovery 2.5.1.2)
My problem is that when I boot into recovery mode, I click on reinstall packages and it gives me the following error:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
I am not running J16, my baseband says I896UXJL1.
I want to make sure that this works so that I can look into using other ROMs.
Thanks in advance.

i believe this is caused by recovery 3e when you tried to get into recovery using rom manager. it requires some kind of signature of the rom.
you need to copy update.zip to your sdcard root folder first and then shut down your phone and use the key combo to get into the recovery mode instead. you may need to apply the changes twice in the recovery mode.
another way to do that is by using android sdk.
I would first try moving update.zip to sdcard (check for updates first), then try using the 3 button to get to recovery and apply it. If that doesn't work, I'd say your probably on a bad recovery, and you should probably flash to stock (Eclair
) using Odin 1 click, available at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989
You can also read there how to use it. I would flash to stock, then go to a proper 2.2 ROM that is widely supported (Perception, Phoenix). Good luck, don't brick your phone.
This makes sense but:
I already have an update.zip in my root folder of my internal SD. Is there something I'm missing here?
