Hi guys, I was trying to upgrade my i9000 to Froyo 2.2 when I noticed that it´s not that easy, I dont want to do it wrong.
My question is, which firmware package and PIT should I flash ?.... My phone has JH2 version.
Here are the firewares and pits

Thanks
Use kies.
Or read all 100+ of guide here.

What are pit files and why do I need them on some firmwares?
Older firmwares don't need them but the newer one's require them to be able to flash the firmware.
Also I have flashed JM2 with 512.pit.
Will I have problems when Samsung releases Froyo (Via Kies or over the air)?
Thanks

Im currently using JPK + cf-root and I wanna change to JPO. In thread for JPO theres only one file which i thing should be used for PDA... its about 270mb ...
and the question is which files should i use for CSC and PHONE in odin...
Hey all,
Ive got a SGS from Optus in Australia but its unbranded. Currently I'm running JG4 rom.
I want to update to the JPO. Ive got the ROM. Ive got Odin and Ive got 3 pits.
Everything is fine, I just don't know which PIT to use. 512, 513 or 803. Could I just flash the rom over without a PIT? Should I repartition? This is the first time Ill be doing a flash.
Any help would be appreciated!
Advice from the experts
Hi,
The quickest and simplest is to go on the samfirmware.com site and register and log in. Everthing you'll need will be found there.
you will first want to flash with the 512 and repartition on.. i dont exactly remember which rom i think jm6 (samsfirmwares has the info on that)
and afterwards u flash the jpo with 813 pit and no repartition.
But yea just read the *info on the roms over there it explains the process.
Putting Pit file 813 without repartition checked is nonsense...
If this box unchecked, then ODIN will ignore Pit file.
At the end, I've never been able to flash whatever firmware with 813 pit file. All went very well with 512 one...

Just a quick question guys: what does re-partition really do and when should it be used ?

Click to collapse
It make the partition in different size. But so far i only use pit 512 for all firmware.
It works best.
You should only use them when you want to wipe you phone clean and need to re-partition the phone.
And yes you must tick the re-partition box to make it work. Else it don't use the pit file.
So samfirmware show wrong.

Yeah the pit doesn't really matter, stick with 512.
How Do I downgrade from 2.3.3 [JVO] to 2.2.1 [JPY] using Odin? How do I fully downgrade it all, bootloaders etc?
well you need to find a froyo ROM with bootloaders - if you updated them when flashing GB 2.3.3
ideally you want a froyo ROM with all 3 files and a 512PIT, also with re-partition checked.
head over to www.samfirmware.com and have a look there for a 2.2.1 with all 3 files,
IT MUST CONTAIN BOOTLOADERS IF YOU CHANGED THEM !!!
alternatively if you cannot find a froyo rom with 3 files AND bootloaders. flash this first as a single PDA with NO pit and NO re-partition http://sourceforge.net/projects/teamhacksung/files/galaxys/GT-I9000_FROYO_FULL_PDA.tar/download
then flash a firmware with 3 files and pit
hope that makes sense ???
Yeah makes sense thanks, I upgraded via KIES so the bootloaders would of been updated too, Do you recommend choosing "Update phone bootloader" on Odin? or leave that blank ?
Gingerbread bootloaders work on froyo, but if you are down downgrading to go to cm/miui then you do need froyo bootloaders, nitr8 produced ezodin files to revert, search dev forum

hmmm... I'm now wondering if that's affecting my not being able to update to gingerreal 5.1 .... =\
NEWBIE HERE,
i already have the latest firmware version as of what Samsung Kies saying. but i know that i could still upgrade my firmware into 2.3.5, i have seen some firmwares of 2.3.5, some of them are just like XXDJVS, XXJV*something). what's their differences? am i going to make it 2.3.4 before making it 2.3.5?
and how will i install it to my phone since i can't use Kies. or i could still use Kies?
need help. THANKS.
umm 2.3.5 JVS is a leaked rom by darky teams so i kies might have it after few months who knows mayb a year?
if u want to update to 2.3.5 u need to flash ur phone via odin with 3 files and repartition tick along with PIT file for clean install...
hope this helps
PM if u have any other question
