[Q] European Firmware on Asian SGS?

Hey guys!
Just wanted to know if it's possible or okay to flash an Asian based SGS with European software...I was interested in checking out the beta releases with Froyo but they're only available as European firmware.
My phone was purchased from the US but it was apparently sourced from Singapore since it had Singtel stuff on it. I flashed it to generic Asian firmware and then updated it with Samsung KIES which gave me the Asian firmware upgrade (DXJG4) free from Singtel customizations (yay!)
And another question...which firmware do you guys recommend to stick with until Froyo is officially released? Like which firmware do you guys experience the least "black screens" or stalling/lag? I don't want to be installing random fixes just yet so I was hoping there's a firmware out there that has less or none of these issues.
Thanks in advance!

You can, just avoid the US/i9000M/i9008/Korean ROM's. But with XXJG1-JG5 roms on my singtel, I found the GPS didn't pick up a single sat.
I recommend XXJM5 currently.. GPS is usable (but still drifts, and doesn't respond when making sharp corners well), and everything which works on other roms seems to still work.
In regards to Froyo, don't bother. It's a fun play for a short time, but there are very few benefits, and plenty of serious disadvantages still (because JP1-JP3 still are in an early testing stage).
Also, it isn't known how service centres deals with flashing other regions firmware (and if they care enough to cancel warranty).
I also have an Asian SGS and im wondering if w/c is better JG5 or JM2.. Im still on our latest official firmware at JG4
can anyone share their experience of using european firmwares on asia models. i want to know too

[Q] Froyo (2.2)

When will be the exact date of the release of froyo?
http://twitter.com/samsungukmobile/status/19827474965
thanks! wish itd come tomorrow
the releasedate stated in the twittermessage is from samsungmobile UK, is it safe to say that the froyorelease for the netherlands will be available shortly after that date ? I am asking that because UK users also have JM1 update in kies but here in the netherlands it is not available.

[Q] asian firmwares vs europe firmware

I have an asian SGS 9000 and I was wondering if I can flash it with the latest european firmware?
Thank you.
Go ahead, minor difference in bundled applications, system languages and APN settings, been using euro firmwares in asian sets for quite a while...
U guys use xxjm8?
Is it good? No bugs?
If use voodoo, is it fast enough ( i got 180 apps installed)?

its safe UNLESS you have a Korean SGS (Anycall phone) then DONT DO IT! For some reason they brick. I havn't looked into it as I had no need but faqs mention not to do it.
I have an SGS 9000 from singapore singtel. Not the korean "anycall" version. : ) Lucky : )
Why do you want European firmware? You live in Asia and be happy. You don't need Europe.

I live in the UK
i live in the uk and my samsung kies program itself updated, the offered me a firware update to 2.2.1 after this, but no before. apparently, looking at a list of the available types the t-mobile uk 2.2.1 isnt out yet, so i dont know where mine came from, i think the thing i looked at tld me it was a portuguese version. very odd, especially as my phone jst came back from samsung repair and they said the had reflashed 2.2 onto it

XEU update nearly there ?

I'm in the UK an some thing has just happened with Kies normally it shows me my current firmware in black, and underneath the latest firmware in weak orange. Having left the phone connected to kies running in the background, I brought it up full screen and the phone had disconnected. I've reconnected and now the line for the latest firmware doesn't show, an I'm thinking in a short while (maybe) when it comes back its going to be gingerB. So keep checking I think were right on the brink.
edit; 02.38pm Latest firmware line is now showing again and its still jpy.
Why don't you just flash the latest JVH with JVK CSC (XEU) and be done with it? No need to wait.
Mine still shows current JPY. Latest JPY.
It will most likely be released on Monday.
Got to laugh, just spent ages typing a reply an it timed out an I lost the lot. But my phones not had any problems so far I've just been fortunate. I'ts came unbranded an unlocked an its not been modded yet. I'ts gone from JF3 to JM1 to JPY without a hitch and its even kept my original Skype (on 3.) app (ends in 14.) and i've not upgraded to Skype 15 or 16 to upset the apple cart. Apart from some more battery life that we all desire, the phones pretty good. But I admire what you guys have done with all the mods. Flashings outa my league unless I'm forced to, an what bit I know about this phone you've shown me, but I'f it all goes wrong and my good fortune ends with the GB update then, theres no company I'd rather be in than the guys at xda.

Gingerbread was released and swiftly recalled a month ago. Now it has started rolling out again, with Sweden and the Netherlands getting it first.
thanks, hope this is not too off topic, what was the reason for the recall?
Thanks mate.

Which CSC file works with JVH to give us an XEU JVH please?
Try the XEU CSC that came with the JVK firmware.
Are CSC's compatible with different firmwares?
It should be. On 2.2.1 I always used the same CSC when switching ROMs.
Just don't use a 2.1 CSC on 2.2.1 firmwares, or a 2.2.1 CSC on a Gingerbread firmware.
In your case, the XEU CSC was meant for the 2.3.3 JVK, so I don't see why it wouldn't work on the latest JVH. And even if it doesn't, it won't break anything. Just flash another ROM.
Actually even the previous XEU fron jpy works. They are pretty much the same except for the csc version. So yeah just flash the jvk csc and its done.

At present im running the JVK XEU csc on JVB.... Intend to flash JVH pda and phone this evening though....
