Quad lockscreen mod is out for jpy roms - Captivate Themes and Apps

This includes the aosp/samsung/epic and puzzle unlock screens, this should work on jpu/jpx too but ymmv. There's two versions using different colors so pick one, currently running r64's version on doc's jpy rom.

[Q] Can I keep my AOSP lockscreen after upgrading to a newer rom?

I replaced my stock lockscreen with the AOSP lockscreen with Galaxy S Tweaker while using the stock JPO rom. I can't find the same lockscreen option for JPY in GST, and I think doing so manually is too difficult. Is the AOSP lockscreen going to be kept after I upgraded my phone from JPO to JPY? Thank you very much!!
anyone?
Nope after you upgraded to official XXJPY, you will get Samsung Stock Lockscreen. If you use custom XXJPY rom, it depends what the custom rom gives you. Darky's is using AOSP lockscreen. Nonetheless, you can still do it manually and it's very easy. Download the theme template from here:

Yours should be this one:
Theme template (AOSP lockscreen, XXJPY).

Both have Bugs, Dont use till Samsung release a stable GingerBread
There's only one way to find out.....
FIGHT!!!
(Harry Hill)
Almost the same: same bugs, same lack of expected features, same included features. The only difference? language and network support
4 weeks on jvk. A record has been set for me. Ha. No flashing for a month now. Very happy with jvk.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Have not seen a big difference eather. Had both on the phone, pure from samfirmware, with Fugu-Kernel, with DOC Rom from beta kitchen v1, v2 actual v2.1 ......
Just try them
i flashed jvb last night then rooted.
i have just one issue for now it is related with gps icon when i closed the gps the status bar icon still there. couple minutes later i activate then deactivate it was gone. everything seems same with jvk to me like battery drain, fast, etc.
I was running JVK for a month without any issues at all, all worked fine.
But as something new came out I flash to JVB using the 'Hamsterbread' ROM, only been on it less that 24hrs but so far no problems at all.
I think as mentioned before they are pretty much the same so personally I would say it doesnt really matter. If your on JVK there isn't much point flashing to JVB.
I tried jvk, jva and jvb and is all the same except swype on jvk
had jvk then "upgraded" to jvb, running perfectly so far )
I use JVK. Not out of choice but it's what my phone had installed when it was returned to me from repair (went in with Darky's 9.5). So if Samsung themselves are putting JVK on then that's where I'd rather be
The copy/paste seemed easier to use for me on jvb than on jvk.

After trying jvb, I wouldnt downgrade to jvk.
JVK since 26th march. rooted, modded and running like a Ferrari. Downloaded JVB and all mod files but not bothered flashing as JVK is so good.
This is the longest I've gone without a custom ROM...no need.
From what I read, JVB and JVA are just minor regional variants...they are all 2.3.3 after all.
These roms are just to similar to contain any significant performance or reliability differences in my view.
conclusion: If you've flashed JVK, JVB or JVA and are happy don't flash. If you have any issues try one of the others.
For me its JVK and well happy

Its not a downgrade
JVB is a Nordic variant, JVK is the UK variant, JVA is European, Luxemburg I think, hence the insignificant differences between them
Changed from JVK to JVB, seen no difference.

[Q] Froyo based modem on gingerbread?

sorry for being a noob but i just one quick question. I got on a 2.3.3 rom and i wondered if i could flash a froyo modem like jk4 on it?
assuming your gingerbread is running a cmw3 package....

courtesy of gingerstyle rom instructions
If you don't know if you have CWM 3, check the color of the text. If it is orange, then you do have CWM 3. You can use the link in the above post or my sig.
If your text is not orange, then you have CWM 2 and can flash the normal Froyo modems.
I have flashed several Froyo and Gingerbread modems using Continuum 5 RC3 and have had the best luck with Gingerbread ROMs. However, that is based on my phone and yours might be different.
Wow...thats a lot of modem you have...do you have kp1 modem? as it works well in my country...

2.3.4 ROM that is closest to stock?

i peeked at a few of the 2.3.4 ROMs and it seems that they're all heavily themed or modded.
is there one that is close to stock with only a few tasteful mods?
thanks
2.3.4-For Captivate, no. For the i9000, there is JVP& JVQ. You have to use a reoriented kernel with the I9000 roms.
2.3.3-For Captivate, kinda. UCKF1 is a leak, but a very stable one. Cognition 5 is built off the kf1. Since kf1 is a leak, it can't really be called official stock.
thanks. looks like i'm gonna grab a stock JVQ ROM. any recommendations for a kernel that would work best with that?
PS. i was looking at the stock i9000 roms on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948790
I would go with the Talon kernel. It has a lot if features, plus you can choose from 4 different clock speeds (1000, 1200,1300& 1400).
Asfor downloading firmware, I would go to www.samfirmware.com. They have a large selection, but you will have to register (free) to dl anything.

Try out the latest Talon kernel. Works great with the JVQ ROM I have.
so the stock samfirmware ROMs are preferred to the deodexed ones found here on XDA?
ty!
I prefer to dl from samfirm if I can, buy I think you would be ok using either.
gave jvq with talon a shot. got the home key working (except haptic - trying to fix that resulted in boot loop). put aosp theme on it. looked amazing, however i found that set up a bit sluggish than i'm used to, and also the the touchscreen seemed a bit insensitive.
so running 2.3.3 kf1 now. like it so far...
Apex 8.2, JVQ, 2.3.4 ...... It look like Galaxy S2 stock... and I recommend you DarkCore Kernel... Talon is so laggy for me!

[Q] Need LOCKSCREENS!!!

Hi All,
I'm using stock XXJVT with latest Semaphore kernel and I'm very happy with the performance. I have used many custom roms before but I didn't like their custom looks and I enjoy using stock theme with only Semaphore kernel.
What I like the most in custom roms that most of them have lockscreens like 4 tab and six tab. There are more than 10 types of famous lockscreens which are very nice.
So I just wanted to know whether there is a way to only install lockscreens on my rooted stock XXJVT rom?
Thanks!
Farhan
Try this: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.widgetlocker&hl=de
Actually I was looking for something free. I can see custom roms with a lot of new features for free then why can't I have lockscreen for free?
