Hi guys i've used CF-Root for install darky's rom with voodoo kernel.
Now i've installed speedmod kernel and when i try to swith to recovery 3e i get 2 errors for missing files, and i have to reboot for return in clockwork recovery.
Is there a method to restore Recovery 3e in JPY?
Someone can make a flashable cwm zip for restore recovery 3e?
Help me pls.
If i flash back to stock JPY and after i flash darky's rom with speedmod's kernel and then restore with nandroid backup, it will replace anyway the recovery 3e with 2e?
Emm, why would you need 3e? Its as rubbish as the come.
And just flash cf again.

It doesnt conflict with anything because there is about 0 people who use 3e (or 2e for that matter) on speedmod kernel. Its just stupid, when you have cwm.

Hi everyone.
I installed ROM Manager and flashed ClockworkMod Recovery, but even though the phone said it successfully flashed it, when I enter recovery mode I get the stock recovery. I even tried using the apply sdcard:update.zip option, but it gives me an error:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
I even considered installing Amon RA's recovery, but there doesn't seem to be a version compatible with this phone. What should I do? Is there another recovery you'd suggest me to install? If not, what can I do to get the ClockworkMod Recovery to work? Any help would be much appreciated
You must have recovery 3e. Oh well, just flash hardcore's speedmod latest kernel in the Android development section via Odin to get cwm.

Sorry if my questions are too basic, but I'm a new Android user.

When I enter the stock recovery mode, it says Android system recovery <3e>. Does that mean anything?

On the creator's blog it says that SpeedMod "works on all stock Froyo ROMs XXJPO/DXJPA/XWJPA and popular custom ROMs", although his thread doesn't state so. My ROM is Froyo I9000BUJP7; am I safe installing this kernel? Also, I don't know if it matters, but my phone is network locked.
Thanks for your help.
The reason you can't flash cwm is because you have recovery 3e which does not allow unsigned .zip
You must have 2e recovery. There is a way to get 2e but you gotta search for it. I'm on the road driving so I am a bit pre occupied to search for you.
Easiest way for you is to flash the latest speedmod kernel via Odin.

As android.francis said your best bet is to flash a kernel with 2e. I use cf root it always does the job for me.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
I am having the same issue, now installed the Speedmod kernel, how can I enter the CWR now?!
My stock recovery still says 3e
Hello,
I had the same problem and I used cf root too. It works very well and if you use a stock rom you will find the rigth kernel there. I only had some problems to find the rigth kernel for my branding firmeware, because this I flashed a stock rom before and after cf root.
Clockwordmod Rom Mgr boots into 3e but up button/power/menu button boots speedmod 2e.
Here is a weird one I think. I installed stock JVH 2.3.3 (from wuala site I9000XWJVH.7z) which I rooted with CF-Root (CF-Root-WX_NEE_JVH-v3.2-CWM3RFS.tar) and then applied Speed mod (speedmod-kernel-k15h-t24-300hz.tar). If I press the 3 button combination I get the speedmod 2e recovery and can backup and restore, install update.zips and reformat partitions to ext4 just fine. So far so good. All updates performed using ODIN.
Here is the problem. I installed a 'paid for' version of ClockworkMod Rom manager (from the market) but when I select backup or 'reboot into recovery' I get the stock 3e kernel and it fails.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Hi
I am wondering if it is possible to get 2e recovery without using Odin or Heimdall. I know a similar question was asked here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880093.
But I have i9000M which has a high correlation with Odin/Heimdall and internal sd failure (not saying Odin is causing it). In any case, I would like to avoid using Odin and Heimdall.
Thank you.
Why do you need 2e ?
btw, do you play DOD:S ?

I need to 2e to install CWM (?). And then i can use CWM to install Darky's rom.
DOD:S as in Day of Defeat:Source? If yes, then nope.

What about using this program to directly flash Darky's rom?
Hello.
So i've got a problem with my I9000.
I've upgraded it to froyo, official release, so i'm stuck with the 3e recovery.I recently flashed the voodoo lagfix kernel via Odin. I would like to get clockwork recovery to replace 3e, but I understand i have to flash it via Odin, too. My question is : Is clockwork's kernel going to replace voodoo? If so, how can i have them both?
Thanks a lot in advance.
if you upgrade offical froyo then u must first do a root..the root files can be find here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108...download correct root for your firmwire phone...then flash it tru odin..when u done with that u must download a rom manager from market...and install it to get clockwork mode =)
I wouldn't follow the previous poster's advice.
If you're going to use cwm, why do you want stock firmware? Try flashing speedmod kernel to get cwm, which has built in root and lagfix accesable from recovery. Or just go to a custom fw like docrom kitchen.
Best procedure for going custom with the sgs is a single flash of speedmod w/ cwm from odin, and then flash anything else via cwm.

To get CWM u can flash a custom kernel with CWM support.
Cezar has posted ODIN version of KH3. Flash it if u want "clean" install. Then place rom.zip on ur sd card, flash a custom kernel (boog' or XCal reoriented no voodoo), reboot into recovery and flash rom.zip

Yes I understand how to do it and have done it quite a few times. Just seemed to me it would be eaiser to use odin ONE click to KH3 with CWM(if it existed) place whatever KH3 rom on the root of the phone boot into CWM then flash it.

Hey, I got something in the works...
But I won't b able to do some testing until later this evening. I will post some more info then.
If all goes according to plan, I should b able to give u what u were asking for (and others also who may find something like this useful). And if so I will probably open a thread in the development section with download links, etc. etc.
Edit: Still a work in progress...9-13-11
Edit 2: (9-15) Still testing and hope to upload this weekend...
Edit 3: Made a Mod See thread here. 9-20-11
I have Rogers 2.3.3 Official installed and rooted, but every time I go to install Clockwork Recovery from Rom Manager, the Captivate is not listed as a device, I only get Galaxy S i9000, Galaxy S i9000 (MTD), Nexus S, Nexus S 4G. Is there another way to install it? or Did i do something to make the Captivate not show up? Thanks!
there is no CWM update.zip for gingerbread (CWM3) for the captivate.

So how are people getting it on there Captivates then? or do they flash all roms through odin?
If you're gonna flash a ROM, flash a kernel that has cwm included already with Odin, it's probably not going to boot all the way to Android with a different kernel, but just button combo into recovery and flash the ROM.

I tired flashing a kernel that has cwm from this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127578 but everytime I go in recovery it says "E:/can't mount /cache" etc..... Had to flash back to Rogers 2.3.3 kernel.
That's a beta kernel, just try an xcal kernel, talon, or darkcore. Hell even a froyo kernel should work for just getting cwm, and will be flashed over with the kernel included in the ROM.
Thank you so much for the crystal clear answers! so now that I have GB Bootloaders, can I pretty much flash whatever i897 or i896 rom I want?

yup. if you were to downgrade to a froyo rom, most of those use amend scripting (for cwm 2.5 and under) whereas the ginger roms now use cwm 3 which uses edify, so you would have to flash a froyo kernel wirt odin, or sgs kernel flasher app, button combo into recovery so that you have cwm 2.5.

I just try them all and they don't work! I'm getting bootloop! And now when I flashed back to Rogers Kernel, I'm also getting bootloop, I had to go in recovery and clear cache and userdata to fix it.
