[Q] froyo2.2 - Wildfire Android Development

got to know dat froyo2.2 official has been released fr wildfire but my phn still showing ur software is upto date wot to do

Some people haven't got the update yet for some odd reason. You'll just have to wait for it... Either way just download and install a ROM, much more options and things you can do, and the new Froyo update has to root yet. Your in the right place for ROM's and i'd recommend the new wildpuzzle ROM or SuNaAbH , their both good and fast...

a question about 1.6 update

ok...
if i understand correctly there is a new market "look" with the 1.6 donut update
when i first rooted my g1 and accessed the market there were very few apps i could actually find when i went searching for them(i.e astro)
i dont know exactly why but im guessing it was because of the different firmware that was being used at the time?
so how will this 1.6 update affect new ROMs?
im using drizzys blur-hero ROM and it has the (i guess) 1.5 market
will the apps in the market with the new update be easily available or will i more than likely have to flash to a new ROM that uses more up to date firmware as time goes by?
im kinda hoping i dont seeing as how its taken me two months of reading the forums and trial and error to finally get a ROM i like thats stable enough for daily use...lol!
thanks for any input in advance!
What? The Market access the same downloads regardless of version because they query the same server.
well iirc
when i first rooted and went to rc29 i tried looking in the market for some of the apps i had been playing around with before and alot of them werent there...
i dont know why it was like that but i got to thinking that maybe the same thing might happen with the 1.6 update
no the market is way spiffier with the new 1.6 update. for shizzle.

well in some roms, there are market bug where some apps couldnt be found in the market this was a common proble in drizzys 2.3-the last 2.X update.
and why use drizzys blur now when maxisma took over his rom.
but drizzy will be releasing a fulll blur rom sometime today(according to his twitter)

Many of the ANDROID Forums on the Internet say that I should not upgrade it to 2.2 as only 1.6 is the one which it supports Officially & since there is VERY VERY VERY less Memory on the G1-PHONE, they say that "I won't be having any Memory left on the RAM" if I install 2.2 onto my G1-phone that has the 1.6 version...
Plz plz plz plz plz plz plz Help me "Whether I can Upgrade my Phone to 2.2 version (from 1.6)"...

Plz plz plz plz plz plz Reply me ASAP & AEAP...
If I really can install/Upgrade to the Latest Version, can U plz provide me some STEPS/Website Links to follow...

Thanq verry much,
(I have written this message on Sunday, the 25th July 2010 at 10:50pm IST (i.e., at 6:20am GMT)...
RSVP asap & aeap,
Thanx.
The upgrade process is really pretty straightforward nowadays, a good guide is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=727688
As for memory, yes you will have less, it is a big step up, and you will get times where memory is so tight that it will slow everything down dramatically, for this I use Taskiller, which is mostly an old habit from Android on Kaiser, but seems to work well on G1 also.
However why 2.2? At the moment 2.1 is actually better for memory, allows apps2sd, and is more stable than 2.2, ( in my opinion anyway ), so I'd go for CM 5.0.8 rather than CM 6.0-rc1.
For me 2.1 offers everything I was used to on my Kaiser, and I honestly don't see a major difference in 2.2 that makes it a 'must have'
I just spent today upgrading my G1 to 2.2 RC2 and am a bit undecided.
While yes, the older hardware, less memory, and overall outdated (by todays standards) phone, 2.2 actually runs fairly smooth. Having come from a speed 1.6, then 2.1, I will admit that 2.2 definitely is not meant to run on this old of hardware. Granted, the extra options are fancy to show off to friends, but for an everyday system, I couldn't recommend it.
I will definitely give it more than just a days testing though. At least until this weekend, but at the current rate, it looks like I will be heading back to 2.1. I just do not see the benefits of 2.2 on such old hardware.
**RIP** G1 from T-Mobile...you were a milestone.

[Q] Hesitating to upgrade to 2.3.3... for a reason?

Hello there,
Here's my situation: I'm still on Froyo JPY stock (unrooted) and have been reading extensively in this forums for quite a long time now.
I have various issues with my current configuration, the most prominent being fast battery drain (my phone has never lasted more than approx. 18hours), slow gps fix, occasional crashes and sometimes slow responses. Apart from that I dig the idea of a different lock-screen, VoodooSound for better audio recording quality while shooting videos at concerts, nice themes etc. etc.
Now I've looked into Virnik0's step-by-step guide and this sounds all very understandable and should give me a rooted 2.3.3 stock with SuperCurio's VoodooKernel (thank you in advance for such a clear guide).
However I'm still hesitating to upgrade for various reasons, and I hope someone can clear up some of these for me and might give me their general opinion.
1. Going from Froyo to Gingerbread, I feel like a full wipe would be necessary (or nicer and cleaner), am I right? How would I go about that before the update? (If I wait until the Kies Update, will this wipe my phone automatically?)
2. With the update, will I get the SamsungApps again with 2.3.3 that came with my phone on Froyo?
3. What's up with the issues in the 2.3.3 version, can they be fixed without too much understanding of mounting and rootexplorer etc.? (You read so much about issues like Swype, GoogleMaps, Battery Drain etc. It's hard to decide whether the new version will meet my needs or make things worse)
Now as an alternative, do you guys think flashing a custom Kernel like Voodoo (Froyo Versions) togehter with a less battery draining modem would already solve some, or all of my issues?
I am just quite confused with all the options and new information everyday and I don't want to mess up anything. This being said, I can easily access both Recovery and Download Mode with the 3-button combos (kind of an intermediate newbie here, i guess )
Well all opinions and answers are very much appreciated.
Kind regards.
Point one gingerbread is BETA .
Point two using the unofficial methods may brick your phone and will certainly void warranty .
Point three using unofficial roms means kies no longer updates .
Point four the Samsung apps you get are in the main the same .
Point four the majority of reported bugs are either bad flash or idiot using the phone .
Your choice to proceed .
Personal route would be to follow Virnik0's step-by-step guide. But stop before Installing Darky rom .
Instead go to Rom Kitchen and build a rom .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817703
Stock with WIPE Kernel Chainfires .and all other apps available .
when thats done install CF-Root-XW_XEE_JVB-v3.1-CWM3RFS
Followed by if required XWJVB_Gingerbread_v5.2_Android_lock
jje
Thanks for your swift reply, it is much appreciated.
Just for my understanding: The procedure you recommend sounds a little "double" to me:
If I follow Virnik0's guide until step 20 (right before Darky ROM), my phone has already been flashed with stock firmware including bootloaders + CFRoot Kernel + VoodooKernel (supercurio).
After that you mean go to ROM Kitchen (the new Beta I suppose?) and stock again this time with WIPE and Chainfire's Kernel. After that again with CFRoot Kernel?
I am confused. What is the purpose of this. Besides that, can you point me to the XWJVB_Gingerbread_v5.2_Android_lock file?
Not if its already flashed you dont need them just pick what you want .
I probably stopped as soon as i had 2.3 installed and then went rom kitchen etc .
Just stop before the post that says install Darky rom and you should be fine .
XWJVB_Gingerbread_v5.2_Android_lock file?
You will have to search i have deleted all my SGS 1 links .

I think the point he was trying to make was that you can build a rom to suit your needs in the kitchen. If u want sammy apps you can include them, if u don't you don't have to.there are many custom roms out there too. alot off which strip out the crap from samsung. I personally use debusrom but this does not have samsung apps. it does however have the aosp lockscreens. Its all down to what you want. Which is why the kitchen may be a better option for you, right down to the modem you wish to use.

oh man ur always here to answer people's quesion u got thanks from me
now commenting on the original post, the only reason for me stay away from the gb roms is the call recording function which is unavailable yet in gb roms (apart from miui which is awesome but unstable according my experience )
MIUI is not unstable, it just has a few minor bugs, biggest one being battery drain. everything works as it should do, ive been using it since rc3 and i aint going back..... ever lol

LG optimus 2x best stable kernel + rom?

Hey XDA
My friend is just a casual person who dont know anything about smartphones/especially not roms/kernels.
He've an o2x and have several problems with it.
The stock rom is slow(havent tried 2.3 though, since it isnt possible to root then) and his currently ROM, CM7, isnt too stable - he keep loosing internet connection, the flash app crashes, and several FCs(and yeah, I've tried reinstalling and fix permissions and stuff like that)
So atm I am looking for a good and completely stable ROM for his o2x, since he is tired of all the problems.
What can you suggest? - Is the new 2.3 worth it, or is there a better rom? - I have to mention, his CM7 rom is 1 month old, so it isnt up-to-date.
I am personally using SGSII so I dont know anything at all about O2X, so I have to ask you guys.
Thanks in advance!
Well, I think that if you wanna go custom, you must be in the touch with updates.
There is pretty good custom rom`s and kernel out there, but if you just want to install and forget (no backuping, flashing, restoring...), I would go with stock rom, 2.3. is ok.
Everyone have their favorite, mine is: stock 20L, rooted, with custom Spica`s HP Kernel and Performance Pack and there is no problems with phone and Spica gives boost to stock rom.
There is some interesting poll too http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350761

As I said, I dont know much about o2x, since it is not my phone, but is there any problems with 2.3? Is it faster than 2.2 and have they fix'ed all the FC he got with 2.2?
The problem is that, if I unroot and update to 2.3 I can't get back, so therefore I want to be 100% sure.
I know I have to keep it updated, and I will do that, just not 100% updated all the time. But if the rom and kernel is stable, its no big deal.
Thank you for your answer, I will wait to decide after a few more replies
edit: thx for the link, I will check it out asap!
It looks like CM7 is the right choice though...Maybe I should just update it and see if it fix his problems?
CM7 is the only one what I have not tried from the list, lol.
What do you think that you can`t go back? You can do with your phone everything you want . You can go to 2.3 then flash back to 2.2. Rooting is not a problem, there is very good guide how to do that, if you have a backup to flash. And there are all versions of stock roms to download.

Well I've seen several people talking about that you can't root the 2.3 firmware.
Yeah you can downgrade ofc, forgot that. I downgraded a Desire Z, which was srsly tough. I guess it is hard to do with o2x too? (maybe a link to guide )
How to root 2.3 -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1327599
All info about rom, kernels and etc. can be found in development section, all what you need to do is some searching and reading.

Other suggestions to stable roms/kernels?
I think the best way is that you try some roms by yourself. When you have done this one time its very easy and next time you can do it much faster. I'm testing GR5 at the moment. Its realesed today for everybody.
---------- Post added at 11:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:48 PM ----------
And if you are not satisfied with performance you can flash a new kernel like spica's.

i installed miui yesterday it seems pretty good n way faster than the stock froyo
couldnt test the stock 2.3 as it wasnt available yet when i last checked for updates
I have tested probably every rom on this forum and in my opinion CM 7.1 stable is the best choice. Since yesterday i'm testing miui 1.11.18 and it seems to be very good as well. No freezes and bsods so far. But miui is based on CM so it has to be good With the SwiftExtreme kernel it's really fast. Battery is also good on both of them - much better then stock 2.3.

Hi, i am also new to the LG-P990, i got 2.3.4 out the box and my LGE Version is V20d. Is that the latest? Used the LGMobile tool and that says something about Mobile phone not being supported??
If you want to check the newest version for your phone, use this link:
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=YOUR_IMEI_HERE
But replace YOUR_IMEI_HERE with (funnily enough) your phone's IMEI.

I started to learn how to root and flash new room with reading some guides around , you can find some in The developments section , the first think to know is how to root, how to install clockwork recovery and use it and finally how to flash new room ,personally i choose the cyanogenmod7 for the battery and the stability of this rom.
GPS troubles with Optimus 2x MIUI ROM
Newbie here and I feel like I am the only one that is having GPS problems here. I rooted my phone due to Wind mobile being extra slow with the updates for my phone and I cannot seem to get the GPS to work. Please help as it does not lock on. I checked the GPS config and see that it is set up for T-Mobile but I don't know which one I should use for my provider as the original Froyo did not have this option.
I also have troubles trying other ROMS as MIUI have seemed to lock me into theirs. Error when I try to load another ROM several times.
I'm also a newbie to the O2x,
I rooted and flashed cm7 then "[ROM] Rebuild of Leaked V20o Gingerbread Update" really easy!
come on guys read the threads in android development!
I am also newbie on O2X and quite new on mods and stuff.. my previous phone and my entry to the smartphones was a samsung galaxy mini..
I have Flash CM7.0.1 stable (following some guides here) but the phone is not so stable... many times i check on it and i realize that it has closed..and cause i did flashed it on the second day of the purchase i cant figure out if its software problem or hardware... ill try some other roms soon..

Yeah, CM7.0.1 is pretty old now, and I think you should try a CM 7.2 KANG. Those are very stable too. If you wish you can always add some custom kernels too to increase the performance.

There are so many 2.3.4 official LG 2x rom on the internet, all start with "V20..".
Generally speaking, the letter at the end means the location.
v20d is one of Asian LG official 2.3.4 rom distribute in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore.
I only know that the latest version now in Hong Kong is v20e.
I am sure you will google a list of LG 2x official rom if you want to.

Yeah. I agree with you. However, only one problem I have found that is photo taken by CM rom is not as good as official LG.
That's why I am now still using official "modified" v20e (Hong Kong) rom with the latest Hourse Power Kernel.
Just bought o2x.
I got home i root install miui.
Im a lg user thats why its so easy. Hehehe
Read the roll up sticky thread at dev sections. Its so easy.
