Internal SD Card Fix - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello eveyone
3 weeks ago I got back my GT-I9000M from repair by Samsung.
Last week I've rooted my phone and installed Darky 6.0 on my GT-I9000M from Bell.
After a day and half I've successfully did it. Everything was fine. Then on Dec 25th I've upgrated to Darky 7.0. Again everything went fine.
Tonight (Dec 28th), my phone said my Sim was removed and I must reboot to enable it again. (didn't touch the phone at all....never touched the sim). Anyway I rebooted the phone and things was fine again.
Then while surfing on XDA I saw Darky 7.5 was out. I've started to Download it via wifi. When the download was between 30%-50%, screen went blank and button light was on.....Rebooted and PHONE STARTED TO LOOP....
I've tried to:
Rebood 2-3 times (not working)
Clear cache (not working)
Factory Reset (not Working)
Re-Install Darky From SD-Card (Got the error message on SD-Card)
Flash with odin to 2.1 stock firmware from bell
(worked but freeze after boot animation so still not working)
Flash with Odin to Latest 2.2 Stock firmware from Bell
(worked but freeze after boot animation so still not working)
So Now at least it look as an un-rooted phone with bricked software while upgrading.....wish that if can't fix it samsung will repair it.....
AS OF TODAY, IS THERE ANYONE WHO SUCCESSFULLY FIXED A CORRUPTED BELL'S INTERNAL SDCARD?
One of the boring thing is that I won this phone with Samsung's Mob!lers contest this last summer...we were asked to promote the phone as the best Android phone on the market...the one i have is my 3rd replacement....

check out the SGS wiki, there is a topic on how to fix corrupted internal SD
but only works for corrupted SD, not hardware dead SD

My system still boot up.
I Mean it can go in recovery mod
and download mod
The thing boot but when i was using CWM It was saying the .Can't mount E:/.....

[Q] almost everything force close

Hi i have a bell galaxy s i just flash ugkc1 firmware but when the phone boots i get force close message for almost every app.
i think the internal sd might be corrupted tried to format it but all files are still there
any idea ??
thank you
your SD card usually nothing to do with application force close, those files which you see after formatting on SD card should be there so do not worry about them.
if you want to find the reason explain about your previous rom and kernel. did you do a factory reset or wipe before and after rom installation?
Here is two simalar topics. I also have that problem and cannot solve it yet.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1069867
When i looked in internet i found sth similar for HTC, but devs corrected it. They parted some files from working devices and pushed it to system with adb.
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/6433-solved-messed-up-partitions-on-internal-storage/
Maybe sth like that will also solve our problem but we need help.
If you find any sollution please infrom us. Maybe it will be useful for us too.

thanks for your replies
all this strated when i updated to 2.3 with kies using spooffw upgrade went fine but phone didn't boot it was stuck on the first boot screen,
so i flashed back to 2.2 and here i am ..

I doubt it is an SD problem. Go to recovery, clear cache and dalvik and fix permissions. If the problem persists to a factory reset and reinstall your apps from the market.

thanks again for tryin to help i already tried this but didnt work
Edit :
flashed back to stock 2.2.. now i get ''blank internal sd'' on the notification bar. phone doesn't seem to detect internal sd card is this a hardware or software problem ?
thanks
now i flashed sppedmode kernel phone seems to be running a little better ( less force closes messages) but i still can't delete files or format my sd card
any idea ?
I tried to flash darky 9.2 (odin version). Then i reach with ADB to the internal when it is in CWM. I pushed there some custom roms and flashed with CWM. But it did not help either.
isn't there any way to fix a corrupted sd card ?

[Q] SD card problem

Hi guys, my phone had the 10.1 darkys rom installed and all was well. a week later and the phone started to shut itself off randomly so i went back to factory and then reinstalled rom after flashing kernel ect. but my external sd card is not recognized..... so i think that this may have been the random reboot problem {had most apps on sd} so i took card out, put it in computer and no problems at all, all files were still on there and were all readable and writable..... so what could have caused this and how can i fix it? i have not had water get into the phone that i know of and this was the only thing i could think of...... any help appreciated!! p.s. i tried another working sd card and same problem. even when mounting to computer.... nothing.
It could be that your internal SD card is corrupted. If you can back everything up, then do so and I would flash a stock Froyo or Gingerbread rom to see if that fixes the problem.
If you still encounter issues, then your phone may have to visit a repair centre.

The other problem i have encountered is when trying to install darkys rom again, but this time from internal sd, it goes through the motions but then when it reboots rom is not installed and my back and home button dont work, so i go back to what it was and that fixes it. ill try flashing back to bog stock and see if i can get my sd card back. will that remover cwm as well because if i take itback to shop i want that gone..... cheers
Flashing back to a stock rom will remove CWM and put you back on Samsung's Recovery 3e.

Internal memory problem?

My SGS rebooted overnight and got stuck at the Cyanogen boot screen. I got into recovery and reflashed the cyanogen ZIP but it didn't fix it. When I went to wipe the phone, it said there was a bad block on the cache partition.
When I tried to reflash an image using ODIN, it failed every time. Previously this has always worked fine.
I think it's a hardware problem with the internal memory - does this sound right?
If you tried Odin with repartition turned on, then it looks like a service return might be required

Thanks, it was!
Got the phone back today. It says they calibrated it and reflashed it. Seems to be working fine.
I'm confused - what do they do differently to Odin?
Edit: Also, I'm worried the memory problem could still be there.
How to expand phone memory ?
How can I expand internal phone memory.
I have avielable only 1,85 GB but I need at lesat 3 GB to upgrade Eclair to Gingerbread.
Pleace help ?

[Q] Galaxy S Plus - Stuck in Reboot loop

Hi
I got a rooted Samsung galaxy plus 9001.
I installed font changer and busy box.
With the font changer i chose a ttf font from the internal memory card, and after applying it, i got the pop up menu reboot now.
After clicking on reboot now my phone stuck in reboot loop.
I can access android recovery menu, i treid wipe all user data but still stuck in reboot loop.
Please help me guys.
You'll have to reinstall the rom you were using... that should get you out of bootloop. If that doesn't work, do factory defaults (you'll lose all apps and settings!) and install the original rom again (or for instance XXKPS).
One more tip: always make a (cwm/feamod) backup before changing system defaults
Regards,
Nika.
Thank you.. Thanks alot

any link to step by step instructions on how to do this available anywhere?
i have similar boot loop problem.
I doubt anyone has created that. How did you get into the loop?

Boot Loop
When you are stuck in the boot loop:
1. Take out the battery and re-insert it.
2. Put the phone in download mode (using 3-button combo - down+home+power)
3. Open Odin, and reinstall the stock firmware (using all 3 md5 files: PDA, CSC and PHONE); you will be able to find the files in the stock firmware 2.3.5 from the post in XDA-stock gingerbread roms for i9000.
4. After you have done this, root your phone, install custom kernel, and then install custom firmware through custom recovery menu.
Thats the way i did it....i dunno if there is a short cut to it.
Hope it helps!
I also find bootloop can be resolved by going into download as stated by puneetgandhi and flash a VOODOO KERNEL using ODIN (it goes on PDA).
Then booting to recovery and turning off all lags.

No idea, it has been going in and out of boot loops a few times already for last few months works fine for ages. All of a sudden it would starts lagging on an app or when texting and reboots into a loop
although i never had the problem on froyo only in gingerbread (a few week or so after i got my phone back from repair shop, they upgraded it to gingerbread without my notification, but since i had voodoo on before on froyo i don't know, maybe they updated it wrongly ).
First time i fixed it with a fix on here about transferring a system file through odin.
second time it fixed itself after i left it for a day as i didn't have time to fix it .
this time i finally fixed it with a factory reset for the 4th or 5th time in a row, after wiping cache and so on, didn't work first few times.
So not sure whats causing it, could be a failing internal memory card i suppose or overheating corrupting the memory, hoping its a software issue that the factory reset will permanently fix (but doubt it).
If you were on Froyo, please look or create another thread for I9000 Samsung Galaxy S. This thread is about Samsung Galaxy S plus I9001... That's the device I own, and stuff like Voodoo and Froyo do not exist on SGS+ (and I have no experience with - probably other with an I9000/SGS do).

Botched custom ROM flash - help

I was in the process of recovering my Captivate - that I had upgraded to Gingerbread - from a corrupted OS. I was able to factory reset back and get the phone running again. While on this forum and getting help resolving that issue, I thought I would see how stable the new 4.2's were. I was walking through the steps of the update and I had just finished flashing CWM with Odin and then it all fell apart.
<<< Noob alert>>> When reading the posts and the walk-throughs, I always read SD Card as the mini-SD card that you add to the phone - the external card. Therefore I put the new custom rom on the external SD.
I wiped the data and went to apply the new rom from zip, and (of course) I couldn't find it. After several tries, I realized my problem. However, my Captivate will not mount my external SD. It is the same one that was in the phone and has been working. I formatted it and checked it for errors - none - but the phone will not mount it. I cannot get access back to the internal SD memory to put the ROMs there - when I turn on the phone is gets to a black screen that says "Galaxy S sgh-1897" and sits there - and my computer does not recognize the phone when I plug it in to the USB.
What can I do? Do you have any ideas?

Here's a good start to get your pc to recognize your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1953930
From there, flash Odin KK4 without bootloaders in download mode to get your phone back up. I believe to know the steps to flashing a custom ROM
GL!
got it going
Thanks, it's up and running, but I went back to speedmod and tried to update from SD - and it worked, but didn't like the ROM. I'm trying a different ROM to see what the issue is.
Thanks for the help.

You'll have to flash the ROM twice to get past the partition on JB coming from GB.
