I am a lil (no, VERY) annoyed with the damn apps starting on thier own..
May it be Winamp, or camera or News and Weather etc...THEY JUST START ON THEIR OWN
IS there a way to stop this....
I have the same problem. Jep, it's annoying.
Have someone an idea how to solve this problem?

Try to install advanced task killer from market. And put in in home screen. It will recover lots of rams.

I would like an app with no GUI. I want to be able to assign it a quick launch key and I want to to kill all tasks when pressed.
Sometimes my phone gets so SLOW that I want to just restart it. But it takes a long time to boot so it's a catch 22.
I have a Taskkiller app but when the phone is going that slow, the app won't even start. I need a quick key press to just kill everything.
Hope someone can make this for me.
theyre plenty of these in the market try searching >.< taskiller also has a kill all button but prob doesnt help cause for you it doesntopen.

All the apps I've tried have GUIs so they won't work as a quick launch shortcut.
If you know the name of one that's not a GUI I would appreciate it.
If you have the app "TasKiller" by Thibaut Nicolas from the market it comes with a widget that kills all with one tap. I know it isn't what you were asking for but it may help with what you want until someone else has a better suggestion.
taskiller does this
it comes with a widget that will kill all
I have the paid version of taskiller and I love it. But the widget doesn't work if you aren't on the home app.
taskiller is a ramkiller...the widget seems to eat up ram for me.
i recently noticed when i try to download any app from the android market or update an app it will act like its starting the download but then never actually start it. im running the latest cyanogen rom. i have tried wiping and reflashing the latest cyanogen rom and reflashing the google apps addon. i have tried restoring to a previous backup when the apps were working in the market. i have tried flashing a non cyanogen rom even. nothing i can think of (my thoughts are limited since im fairly new at all this) and still no success. i had the same problem on my g1 with cyanogen and i somehow managed to get that working again by trying similar things but no luck yet with my nexus one and its really upsetting me. any ideas on how i can go about fixing this? thanks for all your help

May sound stupid (and yes, it is) but try launching google talk. Often bby logging in to talk, market downnloads kick off. Seems to be google account related.

try going into settings, applications, market, and uninstall updates, then open the market again

OK I tried the uninstall updates idea and no luck there. Opening Google talk also didn't solve the problem. Any other ideas guys? Thanks
I wonder if you ever found a solution to this?
Well for me, I have to open GTalk and close it and reopen and close and reopen...it eventually works when it fully loads... Oddly, it seems to only happen on wifi. I'm pretty sure it's a GTalk issue.
Hopefully the new market system will make a difference...I really hope
How's the amount of space on your phone? Do you see the little hard drive icon? I know that the Market always starts to download stuff but never actually downloads anything when my phone space its low.
Hope this helps!

I'm using the stock 2.2.1 firmware which works great apart from one bug..
When I open contacts.. it doesn't close properly and runs in the background. If I go to task manager and kill it the whole GUI restarts itself.
Also if I leave contacts open it seems to eat up memory (upto 80MB at times)
Does anyone know a way to fix this?
I like to know also....
Same thing happens on the vibrant. A fix would be really nice

This happens if you installed the update to the samsung task manager through samsung apps. Uninstall the update to revert back to the original version and it will close the contacts app
^Thank you veryyyyyy much. This also removed lag when entering contacts for me!!! B)
I have a Motorola Droid 1 on Verizon with Android 2.2.2. I open my browser or almost any app its really random. What happens is when I press the home key the icons are not there it takes 60 seconds or longer for them to reappear. Can anyone help me please?
That's because the launcher (homescreen app - you called it 'icons') gets killed in the background
Somehow they totally messed up the launcher priority (how easily it's killed) so opening any app - Settings might just be enough - kills it
I've had the same problem after updating to 2.2
You can use this to fix the problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276
But it involves rooting your phone...

Thank You Eiertschik. I will have to root my phone. I tried before and ran into a problem with RSD Lite. RSD Lite would not detect my phone. So off I go to find out why that is not working. I found a thread on there that tells ya how to root any Motorola Droid. Thanks you for your help now I know what the prob is and how I can fix it. If things don't keep like a row of standing domino's that fall over! I appreciate your time.
Sweet I rooted my phone using SuperOneClick! Also updated to the new Marketing Place!

Hey guys,
I was wondering if there is an app out there that will allow me to stop other apps from starting up?
I've tried Titanium Backup's freeze option, it would completely remove the app from app drawer.
I was looking for something that we prevent it from starting until I.decided the run it the first time. For example, I would like Google map to not startup upon boot, but would still like to start it up if I need to use it. I don't use Maps often, but when it starts on boot, Places, Latitude and Navigation start up too.
Any ideas?

I think it's called "Autostarts" in the market, good luck!

I'll give it a whirl! Thanks man!
I use startup manager, but I guess they are the same. Must have app imo
I tried Autostarts, and it works really well! Its got quite a bit of options to manipulate. A lot more than I, personally would need.
I'll check out the other app for sure! Thanks!
