Since you are uninstalling default stock apps, anyway your warranty is going to void. Then why not install custom rom which doesn't have any of these bloatwares.
You could find one in development section.
ANDRO-ID v3.3 RC2 is the stable custom rom release till now.
If you want to remove only few specific apps and retain others which are absent in current Andro-id release then wait for few days, I will post a "how-to-build custom rom from stock " soon. Then you can remove any apps that you want add any apps / ui launcher as default system launcher.

Use titanium backup to selectively restore apps data that you want. but it would be better to have complete wipe before installing custom rom.

I need com.lge.hiddenmenu backup

Does anyone has a titanium backup of com.lge.hiddenmenu ? I need to restore mine.
I have the stock rom LGP990-V10f (Vodafone Romania).
Or can anyone do a backup and post it here ?
Thanks.
Come on guys, nobody? It doesn't have to be the vodafone rom.
Here goes. I open my titanium backup folder n these are files available. I dnt know if it is co-dependent with other "com.lge, blabla" so Tell me if u need something else.
Btw extract the files first before placing it in ur TB folder.
Thanks!
Is this backup from froyo 2.2.2 ? My titanium recognize this as com.lge.hiddenmenu 2.3.4 and it stays forever with restoring app and nothing is happening.

[Bug] MMS with all mod based from apns CM7

Hi, I am frustrated because all the Rom who have the APNS to CM7, I can not use mms, is what a person could do make a universal fix to solve this problem.
I can use that stocks Rom rooted and Marvel v.x , otherwise I have to install Go sms pro and manually put the APN settings for mms. This app is memory intensive and can not see contacts from the sim.
I must not be an isolated case...

That sounds like a bug in the cm7 apn file for your specific operator. Go to settings/wireless/mobile networks/access point names and change it.
You could also report the error on the cm7 bug tracker and supply the correct values, then the team can update the apn file for future builds.

as far as I know bug tracker is just for CM developers. they dont like when someone that its not part of CMteam start posting bugs, then they block that user to add more reports.

I have the same issue on Zeus 3.2n but I have never flashed CM7 before (not a bad config of the Carrier APN neither) . As YkZ_1967 said, I must use GO SMS pro and it drains battery so much Oo So, If someone have an idea, please help

I will try something today, with mods CM7, I have two apn, one for internet and one for mms.On Marvel, I only have one apn, so I will try to create a common apn: internet + mms on a mod CM7.
@ Maneth , Zeus Rom have apns from CM7
thank you for responding
how about adding the apn setting in /system/etc/apns-conf.xml manually?
I actually have not tried the xml method, I'm a noob,
I should have to backup the framework res.apk CM7 and the apns-conf.xml Marvel , decompile apk, replace xml , rebuild the apk with APK Multitools then replace the xml "unsigned" with 7zip in and push the framework res.apk
for security , make a dalvik cache in recovery
is that right ?
or try with app like APN utility
apns-conf.xml is at /system/etc... you don't have neither modify nor replace framework-res.apk... also, CM7 framework will NOT WORK on stock ROM.
Zeus already have apns-conf.xml from CM7.
The question is which is the problem...
- The existent entries (APN/mms) cannot be edited...
- Then, mms config data are incorrect and you cannot edit it? or with correct data you cannot send mms?
If the problem is the incorrect data, pass me the corrected data and I will edit apns-conf.xml to include it on further releases...
Actually, the easiest solution is to backup APN with Apn backup restore, generate the xml on the sdcard, then delete all apn from CM7 based and restore the xml backup and desinstall apn backup restore.
thank you t0g3 for the tips !
@ Huexxx, problem is with correct data you cannot send mms
@ Huexxx, can edit entries, data and settings are good but dont work on mms , send my data by PM

Hey Huexxx, for my case, I'm on Zeus, and I have correct data too but I can't send mms.

Maneth, install APN Backup Restore from a rom where mms works, backup apn on sdcard, flash with another rom based on apns from cm7
reinstall APN backup restore, delete all the apn in the rom, restore apn with the app, test your mms and desinstall apn backup restore.
() apn backup restore make a .xml on sdcard, you have just to import the .xml on the Zeus rom
I don't know how to resolve this...
- With APN B&R i can backup and then restore, and then the APNs can be edited... but the involved files have the same permissions and ownership... Why after the process it's possible to edit APNs?
- With APN B&R it shows that I have at least 1300 apns... but when I restore the config, it only restores around 400... why?
- With correct data at mms apn, the phone fails to send mms... why?
Regards.
For me , my carrier give one apn for internet and mms.
i have backup this apn with APN B&R on sdcard when i was on rom where mms works.APN B&R say 566 apn was backuped.
I install a new rom based from apns CM7, settings the phone, go to apn in my phone settings , and delete 4 apn about my carrier, I install APN B&R, restore apn, this app say 566 apn was restored, select my carrier apn in OB.
reboot phone, data, sms and mms works, and delete APN B&R.
it's not perfect but works without another app like Go sms Pro...
** rest my problem where i can not read contacts from my sim always with rom based on CM7, but not with zeus rom !
with CM7, temasek kang 58, lezo, LFD Rom
I just flash with Zeus v5.01 lite, mms works without tweaks or restore apn - i can read my sim contact... Good Job Huexxx !

Thanks YkZ_1967, this solution is great ! MMS works now, I'm always on Zeus 3.2n. This tip works with backups too (I've used this with 2 nandroid backup instead of two differents ROMs)
Huexxx, don't worry, furthermore, YkZ_1967 said that everything is OK with 5.01, continue your works on Zeus
i've noticed that if you turn on the 3g/wap connection mms are working!!
but you will pay the connection unless you create an internet apn for your mms server...
if you don't want to pay you have to create an apn with mms configuration and then create another apn with the same parameters apart of the apn tipe that must be setted with "default, supl" (remove the "") and of the name that you chan choose freely...
then you have to set as deafault the apn with the default, supl under apn tipe and then turn on the 3g connection...
this will solve the mms problem but you will not be able to go online throught you 3g/wap connection unless you go to settings and you change the default apn and it is a bit annoying...
there's some suggestion?

[Q] Questions after rooting.

After reading the manual provided in this thread, I decided to root my Galaxy Ace.
Rooting went well and installing CWM5 too. After installing CMW, I made a backup.
Now I want to uninstall some system apps that I don't use, such as Samsung apps.
I keep finding the same answers:
Go to System\apps folder, find the app you want to delete and delete it. But won't that just remove the installation file and leave the program installed?
Second question:
If I decide to flash a new ROM (say CM9), where does my old ROM go and how do I keep programs that I have now (Think free office) in my new ROM?
By the way, this is what you're working with:
Me: much experience with Windows, none with Android.
Samsung Galaxy Ace, Dutch T-Mobile branded Phone.
Thanks for taking the time to read and answer me.
Rob.
Hi,
Okay, after you rooted, you cannot just delete an item right away, i think you need to set permission first before you can delete a system file.
so make sure you set permission first so you can do changes in your system file.

when you flashed a different rom, your old rom will be fully deleted, however make sure you follow the correct procedure in CWM, and also for your apps that you don't want to be deleted everytime you flash a new rom, kindly make a backup.. Titanium Backup app is free in google store and very usefull.. and regarding deleting or editing a system file, you need to set permission to do that, you can try to use Es file manager for that.
hope i helped.

Is not necessary to change permissions in /system/app folder, the only you need is to mount /system partition as R/W to delete or modify whatever you want, use root explorer (e.g.) to do it, because /system apps have the 644 permissions (THE ROOT USER IS ALLOWED TO EDIT THIS FILES)
And yes titanum back up is a great tool, but all GB apps won't work properly in CM roms so sometimes to restore apps using TB is really painful, you can find at Google Playstore similar apps as ThinkFree even the same app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tf.thinkdroid.amlite so be careful with TB

1. If you remove .apk file you'll remove the app, but not data files
2. I've already explained it
Thanks for your quick replies. I see I still have a lot of learning to do.
@Viper: Can you post a link to your reference on how to remove the datafiles?
I think I'll wait with flashing a ROM, until I completely know what I'm doing.

There is no reference, just instal TB and do it deleting data (TB can also clean your cache and dalvik-cache partition even backup your apks and data) or use a filebrowser as root explorer go to /system/app, mount it as R/W and delete what you want, be careful with apps as SystemUI, Statusbar, Phone, Contacts, etc
well you could have a look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542749
Thanks for your quick and clear help Viper.
I've seen references tot Titanium Backup. As I understand it, you can compare it to the 'uninstall software' in the Windows settings on a normal computer.
I use 'Total commander' as file explorer, I don't know if this does the same as 'Root explorer', but it does have root rights.
What's the difference between CWM and Titanium Backup. I read that I should make a backup using CWM. But after some research, I now see that I have to use TB aswell to make a backup. All in all a bit confusing.

CWM can backup your whole rom with all you user data(includes all your apps!), etc.
TB can only backup apps
Now you could think: When CWM backups the rom and my data + apps why I need TB?
The answer is that you can only restore the full rom in CWM. You can restore single apps.
In TB you can restore single apps.
You can use any file explorer with root permissions to delete system apps. Idk, but I like Root Explorer, because of its easy usage

well thats my peraonal problem. It encourages me. N I believe it!!
Since u r totally new I would like u to use a slightly different and easier to understand approach.
Its similar to what others hav said but i feel a lot easier for newbies.
Steps.
1. Install ES File Explorer.
2. Go to system/apps.
3. From options click on TOOLS
4. Then click Root Explorer or Root manager Option.
5. You see the option to uninstall system app. Click on it. Long press the app u wana delete. And uninstall.
To reatore apps from previous ROM.
1. Create a backup of that ROM using CWM.
2. Download Nandroid Manager on your new ROM.
3. Click on the Backup File displayed.
4. Restore the apps you want.
I hope this was usefull.

After all of your suggestions, I did some research about deleting system apps and freeing up memory. On a Dutch forum, someone said that if you delete system apps, it doesn't give you space for new apps, because this memory space is reserved.
Can anyone tell me if that is correct, or does the answer form Omega_Warrior really free up memory?
Now I've come across a new item: Bootanimations.
I have found a lot of bootanimations on XDA. Problem is, my Phone has .qmg files, instead of .zip files. Some forums suggest that you can rename the Original files to 'bootsamsung.qmg'.bak' and replace them with the .zip files. Other forums insist that you need the .qmg format, in order to make the bootanimation work.
Which of the comments is true?

Yes if u delete a system App u do free up some space but that space cannot be used by u unless u install an app as a system app... But it still frees up space, reduces background process and in some cases affects performance in positive way.
Regarding Bootanimations .zip files do the trick. Simply download the zip file u want as bootanimation. Rename it as bootanimation.zip. go to system/media and paste it there. Reboot n it's done... This method has been tried by me. N it works. I hav no idea abt the.qmg files u tlkin abt...

Well you can transform useful apps as Operamini or Quickpic as system app using Titanium backup e.g. so you can use this free space as you elwant...
About Bootanimations you need to flash a CUSTOM KERNEL (CF-ROOT, BATTERY EXTENDER,...) to enable this feature and the correct path, if you don't flash it you can't use this path and bootanimation.zips
Be careful with system apps or follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542749
New ROM
OFF TOPIC
Instead of starting a new topic, I decided to post my question in this topic. Just incase someone else is following the same path as I am.
Back on topic:
I found this ROM review and I'm thinking about installing it to my Galaxy Ace.
Here is the link to the review: http://www.technobuzzing.com/sgs-ii-v11-2-samsung-galaxy-ace-custom-rom/
These are the steps I intend to follow:
Create a backup of all my personal files.
Use Titanium backup and CWM to backup the Phone itself.
Next steps:
Boot into CWM
Choose 'wipe data/factory reset'.
Choose 'Wipe cache'.
Choose 'Advanced' and 'wipe dalvik cache'.
'Install zip from SD-card'.
If I left any safety precautions out, or missed a step, please tell me.
Anyone who has this ROM installed, feel free to share your comments on this ROM.
@Omega Warrior: The QMG files for the bootanimations are aparently a Samsung thing.
Thanks for any reactions.

You are in the correct way
The most important a CWM backup just in case something goes wrong and you'll need to go back so perfect!
I used this rom, IMO all SpaceCaker works are amazing. He is one of the best themer we have
About QMG files, yes only stock or mainly stock roms have QMG files as bootanimation. Custom roms always or almost always have bootanimations in .zip files, this is allowed due to the custom kernels that support this kind of tweaks, so custom rom = custom bootanimation.zip (mainly)

So you're saying "go ahead and good luck"?
Because if it goes wrong... my backup Phone is a Nokia 3510. The type that asks "share by sms or smoke signal?".:fingers-crossed:

well I'm not forcing you xDDD, but there isn't other way to do it so if you have the GT-S5830 model, there shouldn't be problem
And yes CWM backup works fine and is the best thing you can do before flashing nothing just in case something goes wrong
So good luck and preparing the fire for smoke signals!! (joke ) XDDD
