[Q] Can't Find Chinese,Yue for voice search - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The latest Voice search support Chinese, Yue (cantonese). I updated the Voice Search and still could not find this language under the Google Voice Search 's Language Setting (while my friends could). My locale is Hong Kong.
Any idea?

Edit: i'm on xxjpy and I have mandarin and cantonese as well.
Edit2: go to settings>voice input and output settings>voice recognition settings (NOT Text to Speech settings).

Voice input keyboard

My device runs on asian DXJG4 and then officially updated to DXJPA and now DXJPE. I have seen some devices having a microphone button for voice input on samsung keyboard. Mine does not. Android keyboard is also not available as an option.
What's the exact issue that forbids me to use voice input? I can only use the voice recognition on google search bar, that's it.

Sounds like you're looking for Vlingo, its free in the market but don't forget to switch to that keyboard once you've installed it
I cannot just get the voice input integrated into samsung keyboard?

[Q] Google turn-by-turn Nav. Change Accent?

Did a quick search and found nothing similar in here....having an issue with my Navigation Speech
I already set speech to American English in the settings menu (under "voice input & output), and while this changed most speech over to USA, turn by turn still has a British Voice. Any ideas? Cannot find a way to switch it. Thanks
You should try set English (United States) via MoreLocale app.

Captivating voice input

I am running Captivating 4.2.1 version 7.5. The voice input key is missing in the included Android keyboard despite enabling it in settings and the included Xperia keyboard has the setting to enable the key grayed out. Long pressing keys does not give the mic key option. I installed Android keyboard from the Play store and still could not enable it. I installed Kii keyboard and did get the mic key to show but it doesn't do anything when touched. Long pressing it brings up a quick settings menu for the keyboard.
I've searched the suggested threads and found no fix. This ROM may have the capability stripped.

Google text to speech is installed and I tried installing VoiceSearchStub.apk as in this thread (last post):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2088209
using ESFile explorer with root enabled and it ended in "App not installed". I may not have done that correctly.
Where else would I check for Google voice search? Tibu doesn't list it.
Edit: Checked the Play store and it is installed.
voice search by Google Inc. May give you voice input you can try it out it is available in play store

Google voice search is installed and has been all along. Touching the mic key still produces nothing
I will ask the dev about this problem because it seems so random.
Thanks dheeraj for your quick response and help :good:. I will post a link here if the problem is solved.

Google Voice Actions with different language than system's default

Hello all,
The question is rather simple, is there any way to use Google Voice Actions in a different language other than system's default?
I use system language in english (I find it way more comfortable) and I'd rather give commands in spanish, yet, this cannot be done unless I change my whole system language to spanish.
Best regards,
Tai

I did, I've set the language to Spanish (Argentina). And yes, it does recognise I'm telling him to open an app, but it just does the google search instead of opening.
But, if I tell it "open app gmail" (in english), it does.
Best regards,
Tai
It works only in english. Sorry.

Strange behaviour with Google Assistant

Hi guys I have a doubt that is killing me. I own 2 P9s with same android version. On one of them Google Assistant works in Italian and with full functions (play music and so on), on the other one it says it's not available in Italian so I set it in English and it was working properly. This morning I tried to install it again with Italian language set on the device. It's still not available in Italian and now that I set English it doesn't allow me to play music saying that is not yet supported. I checked and the app version is the same... I don't understand what could be the problem.
Thanks in advance
