Thanks in advance for anyone who has any advice!
I recently updatated to a newer version of [email protected] on my nexus one and since then google maps will not install.
when updating to the newest version of the rom I whiped cache and dalvik and updated. everything works except google maps. Titanium backup does not even give me the option to reinstal it. google maps v4.20 is just listed as an uninstalled app. When i select to restore missing apps, it says completed yet google maps is still not installed.
Before this I was not able to install the newer maps V4.30 and i still cannot install it off the market.
To eliminate the rom as the culprit i installed the newest version of eViL n-One-sh0t and I still do not have google maps, nor will it install.
I am just looking for anyone with any sort of advice, i tried googling it and came up with nothing. one thing i have not done is whiped the phone back to stock then re flashed the rom. I was hoping to avoid this but if it is an obviose fix i will just do that
thanks again!
Hey,
So to get to this point I flashed the entire device back to stock 1.01, setup the BN account, rooted with Monster, setup youtube/gmail/market and tested. Everything works fine. I then used CWM to install the update to 1.1. Everything seems to work except that the market fails to connect and youtube just closes upon opening. I tried to fix the permissions, but that didn't resolve it. I also tried installing the Vendor.apk, but just keep getting a message about an invalid cert. Any ideas?
Yes had the same issues with R2 and also the touchscreen worked very strangely.
So went to a backup and loaded R1, that worked great.
I had the same problem. This fixed it for me:
1. Restore to stock 1.0.1 (Don't go from 1.0)
2. Register with B&N
2. Use latest autonooter
3. After you sign in to Youtube as instructed and get Market working, reboot
4. After you reboot, you'll notice that Market works, but Youtube force closes (I think this is where the problem is)
5. Uninstall Youtube (Clear Data first), and then install the signed Youtube .apk
6. After Youtube is working, then you can apply the prerooted 1.1 update.
After many frustrating hours of trying to get Market and Youtube to work, this is what worked the first time for me
I never did R2 but did do R1. My market worked fine but youtube didn't.
Anyway, if you have Titanium Backup then go in there and delete the cache from Youtube. Then go back and log into Youtube like you did with the original Autonooter setup. I think this will fix both. At least it got Youtube to work on mine
And if that didn't work for some reason try removing Youtube and installing it from the apk somewhere around page 20 of the thread.

The apk or the flashable install? The only apk I found wasn't signed correctly. I tried clearing the cache, but still no go. Just closes immediately.
I would try the flashable one. I did push the apk on mine but I think I later delete it. Besides I think the apk was the exact same as the one I had on there
I really think deleting the cache from Titanium Backup is what did it for me. Of course if you don't have it then getting it without the market makes it a little harder
Also try logging in with gmail and then going to the market. I see where one person said that fixed that for him. You might try gtalk. I just remember seeing the post and didn't have the issue myself
Some more info for you
Never tried this but if you're still having problems after all the stuff above with youtube then you may try removing data\data\com.google.android.youtube\shared_prefs That's what someone on page 5 of the thread recommended. I think I would just copy it off the nook and then remove it to see if it works
And if nothing else works with the market then there's a flashable vending app on page 24.
Not to threadjack but has anyone see an issue with DropBox with r1/r2 of this sideload? It just hangs on downloading and never does, evening erroring out.

These and lots more grievances are described in my blog. Decad3nce answered to me that whatever my experience with r1 is irreproducible to him, then recognizes he used "wrong" kernel, decided to put signed_YouTube into his ROM r2 -- instead of more stable HQ YouTube I proposed a month ago. There's tons more of broken stuff both in r1 and r2, I won't quote the whole list here. Staying on 1.0.1 with fake build.prop is probably the best way to deal with 1.1.0 "upgrade".

I don't know, but the youtube app for me when I goto certain youtube videos displays an HQ logo topright at beginning. Does that not mean HQ is working?
What else for you is broken. You state tons and yet with the exception of the XDA app and LCD density (which I suspect is more due to the B&N changes than his 1.1), everything works as good or better than on 1.0.1

What I did to get market working was to update it to 2.2.7, then upgrade to 1.1.

How do I clear the data and uninstall the Youtube apk? It's now a system app and doesn't show up under "manage apps" I tried installing it again as an update but that didn't work. I uninstalled the update, but it still shows up under my "Extras". It just fails to open.
Market and Gmail are working fine.

USB debugging doesn't work with this update. It keeps turning off which is a real pain in the butt. That on top of the XDA app being borked was enough for me to restore my old build.
USB Debugging and Market....
I found usb debugging turned itself off once connected to PC so I'm using adb over wifi for the moment. Otherwise, USB Debugging can keep itself running without problem and button savior works fine.
The newer market(vending.apk is about 2MB) doesn't work on 1.1 preroot. It worked on the first boot but after first app was downloaded/installed the market FC and would never open again. However, the old market(file size is about 1MB) came with autonooter works with 1.1 preroot. So if you've updated the market, try the older version.
Not sure about youtube, mine works but very slow when opening videos, takes forever to buffer

I had the same problem on mine. What I did was to open Titanium Backup, find Youtube under Backup / Restore, and do a Wipe Data on it. At that point Youtube started to work again and I had to log into my channel as in the original autonooter
bitnerd, that worked like a charm. Simple enough. Thanks.
No problem. If you have other things that you can't fix otherwise it may work there too. I've noticed one or two apps that behaved strangely and then were fixed by clearing the cache data
Ive been reading up on this for about 2 weeks now and decided to flash nookie-froyo-0.6.8.custom.3.zip. I got market and all the gapps to work fine but cant seem to get any youtube videos on my browser to work i keep getting the error - Cannot play video - Sorry, this video cannot be played.
Is this just an issue with nookiefroyo or is there a workaround. youtube from browser works just fine from my htc aria. Thanks
I'm having similar problems. Flash content works on some sites, but anytime that I try to watch a flash video, the browser crashes.
Anybody have advice?

Switch user agent from default (Android) to desktop.
Does Flash works on other websites? If it does not, backup Flash with Titanium Backup, uninstall, and then restore Flash.
Thanks for the reply!
I have dolphin hd. i downloaded the addon for this and still it doesnt work can you explain how to do this without dolphin, still with the addon it doesnt work thanks in advance
In Dolphin: Menu > More > Settings > User Agent > Desktop
Both times I installed nookie froyo, I have to uninstall flash, then reinstall from the market. This always fixes any issues I was having.
I'm having this problem with Firefox too. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Flash via Titanium Backup (this actually worked with Firefox on my Android phone), but Firefox still won't play Flash, acts like Flash isn't installed. The default browser does play Flash though.
Any other tricks other than uninstalling and reinstalling Flash? Firefox doesn't seem to have an option to change the agent.
Grab the Flash 10.2 that's floating around the forums. It is working great on my NC with the Customized Nookie Froyo 0.6.8.

After going back to GB,
When going into Market (play), google says updates are available for Gmail, Youtube, Flash.
Trying to install the upgrade results in "invalid sdk version" (error message in french so I did my best to translate it) ...
I tried to manually remove youtube apk but still no luck reinstalling.
Is it possible that android market keep track of my previous ICS update and dont want to offer me GB apps ?
Thanks for your help !
i had this issue when I decided ICS wasn't for me at the time, I fixed the issue back then.
Recently I thought i'd give ICS another go but the way I have GB is perfect for my needs and reverted again back to GB untill all the apps I have are supported, yet again I've also ran into the same error but for the life of me can't remember how I fixed it.
Any help on this issue would be great?
I've tried reverting market, full wipe, dalvik, cache, flashing individual kernel, modem(back to what I had with GB) but yet still no success.

To test that question, simply do a factory reset on GB, boot up the phone, and attach another GMAIL account to the phone and download the same App again. If it works, you have your answer.
Maybe check the googleplay store on your desktop browser to see if there is some sort of "clear app history" option for that gmail account?
I tried your suggestion and it worked but it wasn't the method I used ladt time round, only problem is, when I restore my GB backup before I flashed ICS the market still thinks I'm on ICS yet when factory reset it works.
There is no differece with the backup compared to the format as I done the backup before any ICS related things were done, so I don't understand why the market thinks I'm on ICS with the GB backup.
Try recovery mode and clear cache, and delete data from it.

Yeah, already tried sevetal times, on other forums people say to wait until the market refreshes itself after doing quick flashes one after the other, apparently it fixes itself between 30mins to 2 days or so once play recognises your final Android version.
In CM 10.1, after some reflashes with Cyanogen nightlies, google apps stopped working. By that I mean that whenever I try to install or update an APP, the app is stuck at downloading.
I did all the steps that I read on the internet like killing google play, google play services and google framework and clearing the data and cache and rebooting the phone....nothing.
And after I "force stop" theses services, error 495 is displayed.
Apart from me being annoyed with what I can get my hands on apks through the internet and installing them from adb, my phone is pretty isolated now.
Any ideas? Any workarounds. If Google play is so buggy, I might aswell just switch to another app store alltogether.
Also, If I reflash the stock rom 4.0.3(Yes I want to install the stock ICS because I think that it has no screen dimming when the phone is being used, right?), will this problem go away?, This would be helpful if somebody else has already tried this.
