Try flashing JPU first and repartition. Then flash JPX/Y after you have booted the phone once.

didn't work!

Did you select all 3 files for jpu. Also repit with 512. Once that boots once try jpy again with no repit and just single file.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

O also you are flashing using .tar files? Ie you are extracting the zip files first.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

Flash to JM8 with re-partition and 512 pit, then flash whatever without the re-partion. Or just go install Darky's 7.7

Use jpu but it is upto you.

It didn't work!!!
When i upgrade from 2.2 (no matters what version i use) to 2.2.1 i loose que PHONE functions
I've noticed that when i upgrade from 2.2 to 2.2.1 my imei get lost, and i recover it when i downgrade to 2.2

I had to flash the jl2 modem after the jpy upgrade to get my data working. I am on Bell.

Problem FOUND.
NO IMEI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If i reflash the JM1 everything works fine, and my IMEI is correct!
And to get it back with JPY???

[Q] Froyo Full JP6 / JPM Stock for odin?

Is anyone else sick of having to flash some eclair ROM then flash JP6/JPM over the top???
Why hasnt samfirmware uploaded a full ROM rather than sending us through some convoluted upgrade from an old one?
I would like to put together a full ROM package to flash from odin
* Complete JP6 / JPM ROM
* That does not require flashing any other ROM first
* If possible and/or additionally a z4moded kernel FULL release
So anyone can download and do a proper Odin flash with repartition and jump straight into running a script to convert to ext2/3/4.
After playing with some of these patched kernels and having the occasional complete reflash to do its very annoying that samfirmware doesnt have a full package for JP6 STILL.
Can anyone point me in the direction of some reading material so I can work out how?
Perhaps then we could have a link for a full release JP6 / JPM with / without z4mod built in on the front page...
Reserved for links to full JP6 JPM packages once we have them.
Full JP6 *Thanks to HaTeNL
Works without flashing another firmware before. Flash using these options:
CSC: GT-I9000-CSC-XENJP2.tar
MODEM: MODEM_I9000XXJPM.tar
PDA: I9000XWJP6-REV03-ALL-low-CL618121.tar
Odin 1.0, re-partition off, auto reboot on, reset time on.
Pitfile: s1_odin_20100512.pit
This is the official JP6 that was supposed to be released in the Netherlands:

Thanks for that. Just going to download and test it
Any word on a full release of JPM / JPA?
Would much appreciate someones advice on how to swap the kernel in the PDA file for a z4moded one. Would make it nice and easy for anyone to download a full ROM ready to just kick the RFS nonsense out!

Those roms are already out here..
You know if I can just swap the zImage in the PDA tarball and it should all be fine or are there some signatures or something that I will kill?
Swapping the zImage with 7zip causes the flash to fail at kernel - surprisingly enough.
What am I doing wrong?

After reading the thread on PIT files it seems if you arent ticking the repartition box theres no point using one at all. I flashed without and made no difference. Theres a backup of the existing PIT on the phone and odin dumps that to work out where to put everything.
Has someone testes that does this root forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108 work on this firmware.

[Q][SOLVED] Noob question about flashing

Hello all,
I have an i9000 running:
PDA: I9000XWJPA
PHONE: I9000XXJPP
CSC: I9000XEFJP3
Build Info: 2010.10
According to the firmwares linked in samfirmware.com, this seems to be the following firmware
I9000XWJPA ## 803.PIT Version 2.2 2010 October DOWNLOAD 1 file select NO .PIT
As many people reports that XXJPY is faster, I'd like to upgrade my cellphone to this newer version. However, samfirmware.com states
I9000XXJPY ## 512.PIT Version 2.2.1 2010 December DOWNLOAD 1 file select NO .PIT
So, the PIT file is different. What does this represent in terms when upgrading using ODIN? Can I perform this upgrade safely from my current firmware?
In that webpage there are two warnings: "Please when you have only one file SKIP RE-PARTITION!" && "Use only .PIT files if you have 3 files!" However, I have a different PIT file in my current firmware, so I suppose I have to use the 512.PIT file even having only one file. But what about the rest of files? And... when changing the PIT file, should I repartition & wipe my phone?
Thank you very much!

Try without re-partitioning, it should work. If it does not you can always re-flash with re-partition (using the 512.PIT).
Succeeded!
Hello all,
first of all, thank you admins for moving this thread into the appropiate subforum
I want to share my experience about the successfull upgrading my phone into XXJPY just in case anyone is looking for the same.
First, I downloaded the XXJPU & XXJPY firmwares from the samfirmware.com and also ODIN 1.3. I installed successfully XXJPU firmware on my phone using ODIN through the cellphone download mode. I set Repartition, I chose the 512-PIT and the 3 files (PDA, MODEM and CSC). The ODIN process took approx 3 mins and the time needed for the phone to reboot was not exhagerated (2-3 mins?).
Then I upgraded my phone to XXJPY in a bad way. I reopened ODIN, I checked repartition, I chose the 512-PIT and put the XXJPY single file into PDA. After upgrading, the phone was not able to boot fine. It showed some strange error when booting only the first time, and after that, every boot turned into showing the Samsung logo endlessly.
So, I reflashed XXJPU as described before. And then flashed XXJPY using the 512-PIT, without checking repartition and I set the PDA file to be the .tar file downloaded from the firmwares webpage. After that, the flash took about 3 mins, and again the first boot took some extra time. But finally, I got the phone running XXJPY, which indeed is running smoother than the original fw I had.
In brief:
You can upgrade from:
PDA: I9000XWJPA
PHONE: I9000XXJPP
CSC: I9000XEFJP3
Build Info: 2010.10
to
PDA: I9000XXJPY
PHONE: I9000XXJPY
CSC: I9000XXJPY
Build Info: 2010.12
at least upgrading first to XXJPU (repartition, 512pit, tri-file) and then to XXJPY (no repartition, 512pit, one-file).
Regards.

can i flash 2.1 after 2.2.1?

Hi, i had one piece i9000 and flashed it with 2.1 version I9000JPJG. After this i got blue circle and no network. So, i fullflashed it with 2.2.1 I9000XXJPU and i got my network back. Just wondering after this can i flash 2.2 I9000JPJPG on this phone to get arabic language? Thanks.
Yes You Can
Odin. Repartition your phone with the pit compatible with 2.1 ROM,, and then update from there. Did the same yesterday myself. It's a bit tricky. So make sure your 3 Button Recovery is working.

Sorry i dont understand...should i first just flash my phone with 512 pit and repartition ticked, then flash I9000JPJPG as pda since it is just one file and not tick repartition?
I want to downgrade from 2.2.1 I9000XXJPU stock firmware to 2.1 I9000JPJG8 stock firmware. Can someone please explain how to do that?
Well i flashed the phone with I9000JPJPG and everything ok

[Q] help with missing PDA and CSC

Hi All.
I recently flashed my SGT and I lost PDA and CSC as I was reverting from problematic JMG ROM back to more Stable JK5 ROM. My phone info shows.
PDA:
Phone P1000XJMF
CSC:
I would like to get PDA and CSC back as Kies doesnt detect any firmware to ask for upgrade.
TIA.
hi,
at this point, the best way is flash the Roto ROM v2 JMI via Odin from development thread.

after reflashing the rom via Odin, after restarting, you should go in recovery mode (keep press the power button and Up volume button). at this moment it will finish the instalation of CSC and PDA. it happened to me in the past, and that was the way to fix. hope it help!
Even if you have PDA, Phone and CSC I dont think you will be able to update via Samsung Kies.
PROBLEM WAS SOLVED. I flashed the jk5 stock firmware. And after recovery it worked. Thank you.

How do i backup my original Rom ?

Hi all,
I guess this subject must have come by, but i have not been able to find it using the search bar. So i hope some 1 can help me.
On my company we have 4 Samsung Galaxy I9000 in use, and 1 spare phone as backup.
Some of my collegue (and me aswell) changed our rom to Darky 9.5 and we are all very happy with it.
Now there is 1 phone that needs to return to the shop for repairs and i wanted to make a backup from the spare phone we have here. So i could flash his phone back to original rom.
I am from the Netherlands and the Rom that comes with the Phone is:
KIES says:
- PDA: JPC
- Phone: JPP
- Modem: JS2 (KPN(provider))
*#1234# says:
PDA: I9000XWJPC
Phone: I9000XXJPP
CSC: I9000KPNJS2
Is there a way to back up this Rom ? Or any other ideas on how to get this rom on the other phone ?
ty in advance for tips and tricks
well you could root a phone that is on stock ROM and make a nandroid backup and restore that on the phone to be sent back..
or you could go to www.samfirmware.com and find your firmware there and flash it using ODIN.
You have a 2.2 release, there is a 2.2.1 for this phone :

It's the official ROM is you try to upgrade your phone with Kies 2.0. You can try to install a SpeedMod Kernel before upgrading to format system and cache and wipe Dalvik cache, return in Download mode and Flash this ROM via Odin v1.3 in "One file Mode" (no repartition and no pit file, just the ROM in PDA file).
You need to have the 3 button combo working to do all this things to go in Recovery mode for "clean up" the phone via SpeedMod (no necessary but always good to do).

Ideal backup would be genuine original rom or genuine updated rom via Kies and back that up as stock factory rom .
I did via Kies registry spoofing and i believe that current Kies allows you to save firmware or at least its downloaded during the update and you save a copy before the actual update .
jje
Ooh a kies registry spoofing. Hmmm will have to look that up tomorrow. Is that hard to do ?
Will i be able to put that firmware on any sgs ?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Hum, my reply make download on PC the OFFICIAL release on Samsung FUS server used by Kies 2.0 and it's a working method NOW. Registry spoofing doesn't work anymore !
Hi, i replied the topic on my phone. now i see the replies that came before the registry 1..
Ty all for helping me. i am gonna try some and let you know the outcome.
