A) I've purchased these on my phone (Nexus One) but they don't show up on the market on the Nook Color (even with the new Market).
Does anyone know how to make them show up? (I've tried Market Enabler to no success as well).
B) Using Root Explorer, I took the apks from data\app on my Nexus One and put them in data\app on my Nook Color, and changed permissions. They show up in the launcher after reboot. However, on launch, it fails downloading the data saying that it's an unsupported device.
Has anyone gotten these games to work or know of a way to?
Are these commercial games authorized/licensed by device? I mean, you DL'd them for your Nexus One and now you seem to want to copy them to another device.

I doubt it. I've used plenty of other paid apps on both devices (such as Root Explorer, Titanium, Robo Defense, etc).
Well in my last two days of reading this nook color section I have learned allot. One thing I am sure of is that the Market place checks the device connected to it and only shows apps that will or should work on said device. I now games like the ones you have mentions have not been written to work on the resolution of this size screen so they will not show up nor can they install on the device.
I happened to get NOVA HD downloaded but it would only show like half the screen. Most games or apps that are not compatible yet will not even install. I am sure you we will have to wait till these games are supported for the Galaxy Tab.

NOVA HD 3.4.2 works full screen with spare parts, some time you've gotta toggle compatibility a couple times ( same for galaxy tab)

I got NOVA running on mine as well. Believe it's version 3.50, (not positive). Was already running the Spare Parts App and never had to mess with the compatibility mode with it. Game works great.
I tried NFS, got it installed and running, but its a no go. Graphics are reduced to just a couple shadows.

The paid apps follow your gmail account. I got all of the EA games to work on my nook color by buying them on my epic then using mybackup pro to make a backup of them. Then, I would move the backup file and the sd card EA folder over to my NC. Lastly I would restore the backup with mybackup pro on my NC. They all opened perfectly, after the already mentioned spare parts compatability check toggle.
Hope this helps.

I tried this with Titanium Backup (paid) but the apps never show up in the list of possible apps I can restore, even when the files are in the correct directory for Titanium Backup.
What does MyBackup Pro do that Titanium Backup doesn't?
And is there a way to do this with Titanium Backup? (I have the paid version if it makes any difference.)

I simply used an apk I found on the web. Applyed the spare parts hack before doing so.
I'd like to share the apk, but it's not half legitimate. I guess this is not the right place to share that kind of data..

Walk through it with me:
1) Make backup on your phone
2) Run TitaniumBackup once on your NC so that the folder is created
3) Copy the THREE FILES for that one app from your phone to your NC
4) Relaunch TitaniumBackup
5) Scroll to the bottom. It should be listed as "Uninstalled"

Can someone PM me the most current version which is working (link would be great). I found a demo online which works great, but is just the demo.. There seems to be 4 versions of the game swirling around (Evo, Droid, modded droid, demo).
Thanks!

I tried this.
A) First problem: It fails downloading the game files after you launch the game.
B) Second problem: So I copied over all the files from my phone to my Nook to get around the first problem. It runs, but then says "This is an unsupported Android device" and then quits.
C) Third problem: I'm not sure what happened, but then I launched the game again, and it went through. Unfortunately, everything on the main menu was white and completely blank. I could hear the music but couldn't see anything except for a few outlines of some objects on the main menu. Basically 100% unplayable.
Did the Titanium Backup method work for you? If so, what device did you perform the backup on?

My Samsung Vibrant.
Note that I don't move the downloaded files over. I find the APK, move it to my NC, and install it. Then I let it download.
For your third problem, what game? NFS? Which version of the APK do you have?
The NookColor appears to have the same or similar enough hardware to the Motorola DroidX to have the same EA games work. If you are trying to use a game make sure the processor of the phone file is the same family as the NookColor. The NookColor uses a Ti OMAP processor, which is what the DroidX uses. I think the Samsung Epic uses a different processor and GPU.

I just wanted to put this out there for anyone having trouble finding apps on the Market with their VS GTAB.
I found Bluetooth File Transfer by "Medevial Software" that allowed me to transfer most of the apps that I have on my Nexus One over to my GTAB.
The app has a nifty little function called "Send Applications" on the menu under the "more" tab.
Both devices have to have bluetooth on for this function to activate.
This app helped me to get apps over to my GTAB when I couldn't get to them from the Market (on the GTAB).
Some Apps on my N1 were locked so I could'nt move those but for the most part I was able to get a lot of apps on my GTAB that I was not able to get via normal channels.
You can also use the free version of dropbox and get apps from all your PC/phone/Gtab.
It's a cool little app/program. and you can share folders as well. But it is only via wifi, which is fine as my phone is rooted so I always have wifi.

I used Dropbox all the time it's pretty cool but I tried to see if I could get my apps from my N1 over to my GTAB with Dropbox but it didn't give me the option to send APKs like BTFT does.
BTFT will package the selected apps into individual APKs so you can install them easily after they are transfered to your device. Which is a big help because before I found BTFT I was moving apps over using Titanium Backup which had many steps to get the apps over and installed successfully. With BTFT those steps are greatly reduced.
Try it out.
Nice find, thank you sir.

I believe the default location for transfered apps is the main directory of the internal sdcard.
/mnt/sdcard
Just scroll to the bottom if you are using a file explorer like estrongs.
BTFS worked great for me! send a few apps to my boss' droid2!
Here is an easy way to transfer and sideload. Using a WiFi connection.
Download apk's to your pc, use ES File explorer to browse for apk on PC (Lan), copy to your "downloads" folder on sd (Local). Browse w/ ES File explorer to downloads , choose apk and install.
Been working like a charm for me
Edit; Sorry to post this here, since this thread relates to "BFT", meant to post on previous thread.

Hmmm? Don't have an answer for you. I remember having that same issue but all I did was make sure both devices were discoverable and making sure the ftp share service and opp receiving service were both enabled in settings for both devices. I don't know for sure that would be your fix though..

I had the problem before of getting an error message, but I installed Blue Tooth File Transfer on both devices and now it works fine. I have it on my Gtab, EPIC, Moment, and EVO and all works fine.
Wow, very cool. Thanks, worked great from N1.
3 days with my Xoom and loving it!
I'm not ready to root it just yet, though. So that means I can't use Titanium Backup at this point. (Kind of a disadvantage, since I currently use it on my gTablet...would be a great way to move over everything--especially my Angry Birds scores.)
Anyway, is there another good backup app that you know of that doesn't require root?
Also, I can't seem to locate Lookout in the market. Maybe it's not 3.0-ready. Anybody have it working?
Thanks!
Well titanium doesn't work correctly like you use it on your gtab, but you can still backup/restore anyways. You have push your backups through adb using the command prompts. Since the way we root the xoom titanium doesn't detect your apps properly. Im not sure if this has been fixed though? Theres an article on this forum about it.
So if you're not rooted a great app to use would be My Backup. I haven't tested it with the xoom yet but should be working. Its just if you're not rooted it can only back user apps and all of your data though. Its an excellent app. As far as lookout, im not sure on that. I haven't tried it for the xoom yet.

All you have to do is open the app in portrait mode on both the Gtab and Xoom click back up. Then move the files from the sd card over from the Gtab to the the "SD card" part of the xoom and click restore. No root needed and it works great. Just remember the xoom needs to be in portrait mode or the app wont open. idk why but thats how it works lol.

Thanks for the suggestion. MyBackup by rerware is not compatible with the Xoom, though. Titanium only works if you're rooted right (just making sure I'm not missing something). Eventually I'll root this--was thinking I would wait at least for the Flash and SD updates, and maybe for the 4g upgrade, too.

Thank you for that suggestion. I had tried Angry Cheaters on the gTab already, but it isn't working for me. It keeps saying "No record for this level." And when I try to backup the game data, it says "Error creating backup!" on only writes a blank file. It seems as though it's looking someplace different than the data/data folder for the game data. This is obviously something I should take over to the gTab forum.
Since the gTab is rooted, I can get my hands on the .lua files for Angry Birds, but since I haven't rooted the Xoom, I can't copy them in. So, no joy there.
Thanks for your replies, guys.
Starting yesterday, the NYTimes app for tablet crashed on me every time I opened it. Tried uninstalling with Titanium Backup, soft reset, restore (app only), but to no avail: it crashes every time after opening, whenever I try to scroll.
What's odder still is that when I locate the app in the web market (which I couldn't do directly yesterday, for some reason) and attempt to install it, all of my devices, including the Xoom, are greyed out.
If I search for the app from the market on my Xoom, it doesn't even show up (although the phone app does. At one point, briefly, I was getting a message about my download being cancelled due to incompatibility. Now, however, once I can get to the app's page in the market, when I try to install, I get "The requested item could not be found.")
Finally, if I manage to get to a web from which I can click a link that will take me directly to the NYTimes tablet app page in the market, after I click "install" I get: "purchase cancelled - your device is not compatible with this item."
The only thing I can think of that I've changed on my end is having upgraded from 3.0 to 3.1 recently, but I did not notice whether the NYT app quit working immediately after the upgrade or later.
I would really appreciate any help with this one. Thanks
when I upgraded to 3.1, almost any app I restored from Titanium Backup would FC immediately when run. Didn't matter whether I restored the app only or app+data.
Clearly there's an incompatibility between Titanium Backup and the way apps are installed or stored in 3.1.

I've had some weird Ti Backup issues as well, but this also seems to involve the market.
Can anyone else comment as to whether they're able to see the nytimes tablet app in the market, or install it on a xoom running 3.1? Thanks
In my searches, I came across at least one user with a verizon xoom running 3.1, and he claimed to be able to download and use this app from the market.
The app has been updated since my original post from 1.01 to 1.03, and a look at the reviews indicates that the upgrade may have fixed the issue, but unfortunately, I cannot get the app.
I would be hugely grateful if anyone, especially someone with a verizon xoom, could take a look to see whether they are able to download this app (and if they can, is there some way for me to get it?). Thanks
I'm on a Verizon Xoom.
It's not showing for me anymore, either. Only the phone app is.

Thanks so much for checking. Are you running 3.1?
I just updated my NOOK app and it does not run. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with the same result. Anyone else gotten the updated nook app that came out today running under CM7?
EDIT: Never mind. I cleared Data and then it was able to run. . . It does require a complete reload of all of your books due to a new architecture. . . so bear that in mind. . .
Hopefully this addresses the general crappy performance the old nook app had under cm7. I swear every other app I use works flawlessly. The old nook app constantly forced closes, is very insensitive to touches, and just plain old sucks. Eventually when you got it to load a book it is pretty stable but will still lose your spot every so often.
It drove me to set up dual boot stock/cm7. I am booting back to CM7 now to test the new version out!

agreed, not really impressed with the nook app, it does work though (newest update). irritates the hell out of me when it loses my place, i've found that the bookmark feature seems to work if I can remember to use it lol.
The only reason I use the Nook app is to show off to my little niece about the page-flip feature, that's all.
I read .epub using either Cool Reader or Aldiko while using Adobe Reader for .pdf.
How did you install the the 2.7 update? While the nook app shows up in the Market, there is no option to install or update. When I go to the web based Market interface, it claims that the nook app is not compatible with my CM7 Nook Color. I've tried the usual fixes like editing the build.prop file for screen density (160/161) and also to make the device/manufacturer appear to be HTC. No luck. I found a 2.6 apk that works fine, but have yet to find a 2.7 apk outside the Market. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I am running into the same issue with Phiremod'd 6.3 and the B&N android app.
However in my case, once uninstalled (original was corrupt and would not work), returning to the Android Marketplace and selecting the app does not bring up a download button. Gives me all the info about the application, but no app download or uninstall.
Any thoughts as to why this is happening? If it were windows, I'd say there was a registry setting left that was making the system think the app was still installed...

I have a quick question: is it possible to lock the old market down so it doesn't auto-upgrade. Every now and then, out of the blue, I fire up the market only to find that the app has updated. I can then stop the Market and uninstall updates. But it's a pain in the a$$ to do that over and over and over...
Uninstall the market updater app. (I used Titanium Backup for that.)
Hey everyone,
Good old fashioned noob question here. Got my Nexus 7 and love it, but EA apparently hasn't released a version of Scrabble for it yet, as the play store say it's not compatible with my device. Guess I'd like to give it a shot installing it anyway and see how bad or good it is. This is possible, right? If so, how does one go about doing this?
Thanks
the best answer would be 'maybe'.
Yes it should install, but no it might not run

Download the app to your phone, go into data/app, find the app then either move it to the sdcard then transfer it to your N7. A quicker way (if you have an online storage app) is to long press on the app in data/app, select "send", then send it to your online storage then download it to your N7. I use my Box account for this all the time.
Also make sure you check the setting to "allow installation of non-market apps"

Exactly what I've been doing
Easy way once you have downloaded it on your computer is to put it in your dropbox, open dropbox on your tablet, and install.
I used MyAppSharer to save the .apk from my Kindle Fire into my Google Drive and it sideloaded fine on my Nexus 7. It runs fine, but it doesn't use up all of the screen. Haven't tried the phone version yet, so if you do, let me know how it goes.

... and some, like the ASUS Weather Widget work- but you can't save your settings (like wanting the temperature to display in F rather than C) because the "Save" button is off the screen on the N7
I've done it with iReader and it works fine.
DARN! I did it, and it works, but it's tiny. Takes up like 1/5 of the screen. I bet the kindle fire version would be better than the phone version.
Well, thanks for the help everyone! Hey EA...if you're reading this, stop being so lazy and just release a version compatible with the Nexus 7!
