I just wanted to put this out there for anyone having trouble finding apps on the Market with their VS GTAB.
I found Bluetooth File Transfer by "Medevial Software" that allowed me to transfer most of the apps that I have on my Nexus One over to my GTAB.
The app has a nifty little function called "Send Applications" on the menu under the "more" tab.
Both devices have to have bluetooth on for this function to activate.
This app helped me to get apps over to my GTAB when I couldn't get to them from the Market (on the GTAB).
Some Apps on my N1 were locked so I could'nt move those but for the most part I was able to get a lot of apps on my GTAB that I was not able to get via normal channels.
You can also use the free version of dropbox and get apps from all your PC/phone/Gtab.
It's a cool little app/program. and you can share folders as well. But it is only via wifi, which is fine as my phone is rooted so I always have wifi.

I used Dropbox all the time it's pretty cool but I tried to see if I could get my apps from my N1 over to my GTAB with Dropbox but it didn't give me the option to send APKs like BTFT does.
BTFT will package the selected apps into individual APKs so you can install them easily after they are transfered to your device. Which is a big help because before I found BTFT I was moving apps over using Titanium Backup which had many steps to get the apps over and installed successfully. With BTFT those steps are greatly reduced.
Try it out.
Nice find, thank you sir.

I believe the default location for transfered apps is the main directory of the internal sdcard.
/mnt/sdcard
Just scroll to the bottom if you are using a file explorer like estrongs.
BTFS worked great for me! send a few apps to my boss' droid2!
Here is an easy way to transfer and sideload. Using a WiFi connection.
Download apk's to your pc, use ES File explorer to browse for apk on PC (Lan), copy to your "downloads" folder on sd (Local). Browse w/ ES File explorer to downloads , choose apk and install.
Been working like a charm for me
Edit; Sorry to post this here, since this thread relates to "BFT", meant to post on previous thread.

Can you confirm that you are using Vegan, because I do and it say my FTP OBEX service is not installed, did you flash another kernel ?

Using VEGAn 5.1 Beta with Pershoots Latest 2.6.32.29
It does work Nexus to VEGA, I just tried it out again using CM7 RC1 on my
Nexus w/Wildmonks 2.6.35.10. Transferred nine test apk's over just now as I typed this thread reply.
I'm not using the 5.1.1 supplement.
I was using stock kernel (I guess) from vegan, updating now to see how it goes...
NO GO! updated to latest pershoot
Weird, anyhow, no biggy since I have plenty of other way to transfer my apk, just very strange!

Hmmm? Don't have an answer for you. I remember having that same issue but all I did was make sure both devices were discoverable and making sure the ftp share service and opp receiving service were both enabled in settings for both devices. I don't know for sure that would be your fix though..
BTF
I had the problem before of getting an error message, but I installed Blue Tooth File Transfer on both devices and now it works fine. I have it on my Gtab, EPIC, Moment, and EVO and all works fine.
Wow, very cool. Thanks, worked great from N1.

Hi, just wondering if anyone can recommend a good app for sharing files (apks, pics, videos etc) between android devices? Cheers.

I'm curious about this one too. I have been using Hoccer, but it is soooo slow. It takes like 2 minutes to transfer a 12MB file. The only other one that I know of is Bluetooth file transfer, not sure how fast it is though. I would assume it's faster than Hoccer.

Tried that but it isn't great for apps that you want to share that aren't on the market where I just want to send my friend or mrs an apk.
Astro file manager with the Bluetooth module is pretty handy for sending pretty anything

You can send non-market apk's. It just has to be installed on your phone first, it picks from the list of installed apps on your phone
If you're both on wifi you could try ftp. One of you starts a ftp server and the other connects.
That will be a lot faster than bluetooth.
Sugarsync or Dropbox. Same acct. SS allows you to sync folders on your sd card.

That's what I do, I can also share with non-Android devices this way (and computers). I have SwiFTP on my Nexus as a server, and use AndFTP as a client (or even the browser).
So I love grooveshark on my droid 1 great for building my own play list and for listening to any song at any time without having to wait for it to download or to be played on pandora or last fm or anything like that, Installed it on my gtab running vegan 3 and it keeps force closing everytime i go to login to it, has anyone else been able to get this program up and running without it force closing? this is the only app i've had problems with since getting my gtab for xmas this past sat.
Not sure what the issue is, but I'm having the same problem on TnT lite 3.1.3. Total bummer... what a great app.
Got Grooveshark app working on my GTab!
With the recent update of Grooveshark to v2.2.1, I'm now able to launch the app without any FC's! However, it would still not allow me to login, stating that it was receiving a connection error even though I verified that I had a good Wifi connection.
I have Grooveshark v2.2.1 successfully running on my N1 so I just backed it up with Titanium Backup and transferred it over to my GTab. I restored with 'Data only' and now Grooveshark launches and logs in successfully on my GTab! (I'm running TnT Lite 4.1.0)
I'm listening to one of my playlists right now and it sounds great! All the app functionality seems to work just fine, in fact I think the the app's UI works really well in landscape on the tablet.

Edit: Thanks so much worked like a charm!!!
Thanks for the tip on restore of data. It worked like a charm. I had to do a fresh install and then take the data off of my fascinate with titanium and do a data only restore...presto....
Thanks guys

I'm a noob, but how do you transfer over the TI backup of Grooveshark from my Vibrant to install on my Gtab to get Grooveshark to work? If you can give me some direction i'd appreciate it.

Its easiest if you have dropbox on both devices, just go to where the TI backup is stored normally its 3 files and move them into the dropbox or onto a computer, and than either hook the gtab up to the computer and move files to the TI backup folder for grooveshark replacing the old files, or do it from dropbox just download the 3 files from dropbox on your tablet and than move them into the TI grooveshark backup folder replacing the old 3 files.
The 3 files on your droid should be in sdcard/titaniumbackup/ with the 3 file extensions being .properties .apk.gz and tar.gz take all three of those files and put them onto your tablet replacing the 3 files that are in that location on the tab and than running the restore on the tablet from titanium and voila!
Thanks for the help, I forgot my gtab at home, i'll give this a try when i get off from work.
I tried this method, pulled the 3 files from my Vibrant, replaced the files on Gtab, performed the "data only" restore and still received connection/login issues. I tried a fresh install of Grooveshark on the Gtab, backed up with TI, then copied the Vibrant files over and still same result?
Not sure where I am going wrong on this? Any one got any other tips?
Slightly OT, but I get FC on the Grooveshark app so thought about going straight to the web site.
When I try to use listen.grooveshark.com I get a Problem Loading Flash error
listen.grooveshark.com is the only site that does this.
Does this happen to anyone else?
Anyone have an update on this? I have latest Vegan Beta 5.1.1 and I can open Grooveshark but no song plays. It just keeps skipping. I have tried restoring as mentioned in the previous posts and this did not fix my issue. When I restore from Titainum it just crashes as soon as I try to open it. I tried restoring just data and also app+data and neither one worked. Does anyone have any ideas?
Can someone post the three files? I cannot access those files to load on my G Tab...

The problem is that we are restoring our account from another device. In order for this to work for you, someone would have to login to their device with your account and then upload that for you to restore with. You could do this but I would recommend for you to change your password. Then you would have to send a pm in order to not publicly post a password.
Edit:
Here is a link to the files without an account attached to it. Try it out. I don't know if it will work though.

This slightly OT, but I have been testing an app called Tinyshark - so far so good.
I have been getting mixed results with Tinyshark. Sometimes it works, but often it won't play any of my music. Anyone having the same issue? Any fixes for this?
Follow these steps to get Hulu Plus working:
1. Delete any copy of Hulu Plus from your phone.
2. Download the file from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19377222&postcount=7
3. Extract the 3 files into your TitaniumBackup folder.
4. Restore Hulu Plus from Titanium Backup using App+Data.
Thank derek4484 for providing the files since Rootzwiki did not host it anymore and thank him in his post too.
Note: In order to use Hulu Plus, disable ad blocking using AdFree or any other similar app.
This would complete the Captivate
any updates? Anyone found a workaround to get hulu plus app to work on the captivate?
Sheb
This needs to be done already
If you are rooted just find a titanium back up of the app ( it is somewhere in this forum) and back it up. Worked for me and I do believe it is the only work around. The hulu app checks for compatibility in a different manner then Netflix did. Netflix was easy to fool
Do you mind attaching the TiBu backup for the Hulu Plus app since it doesn't seem to be available on Rootzwiki anymore.
I found the Hulu Plus backup and restored it with titanium backup, but it still didnt work. As soon as I started Hulu plus a big red/white error window popped up and said device not supported.
Edit: OK I only restored App from Titanium Backup. Once I restored App+Data it works great.
Just extract the three files within this to your titanium backup folder on the SD card, go into titanium backup and restore app+data. Should work.

Nice!!! I just tried this out and it works great. I havent found any bugs yet but will update if I do. Finally Hulu Plus for Captivate!
Edit: Ok I have a bad wireless and 3g connection at my house but after the advertisement loads I can't get the video to play even when adjusted to low quality. It says your network appears to have problems. Let me know if its working for you and I'll try again on my campus wireless tomorrow and when I have better 3g service.
Hulu +
Worked!!! Awesome! Tx.:d
Can either of you all confirm that you are able to stream video? I still can't get past the advertisement screen.

This is probably because you are blocking ads via your /etc/hosts file. If you are using any non-stock ROM this is probably true. This interferes with Hulu's ads and prevents it from continuing. If you download and install the "AdFree" from the market then use it to revert to the non-blocking hosts file, then Hulu should work. When you are done watching, you can run AdFree again to reblock ads (if you want).
I've been using ad free and trying to revert my host file but I still can't get past the ad screen. Any way I can do this manually or other possible solutions?
Sent from my Samsung Captivate running Andromeda³
Well, you can look at the file /etc/hosts, if it has been successfully reverted then it should just be one line:
127.0.0.1 localhost
You can probably do this manually if you use root explorer (or equivalent) to make the file writable.
This works for me great with WiFi, but hit and miss on 3G, depending on signal strength.

I checked the host file and it has been reverted. Still running into problems though. I get to the screen of Ad: Your video will resume soon but under loading circle and buffering it says: It appears you are having network issues. Please wait, or try again later.
Im going to mess around with clearing data on things today and see what happens.

Please can someone help me with this issue?! My sister have a Samsung Vibrant and after one whole night, I finally rooted her phone with Superoneclick just to help her install Hulu Plus on it. I got the app working but like so many others, I am stuck on the buffering screen!
I've tried the AdFree method of reverting my host file, rebooted, but still no go. I've tried uninstalling AdFree, rebooting. No go. I've tried booting into recovery mode to clear cache but no go. I've installed ES File Explorer to manually view my Host file and it is empty except for the 127.0.0.1 line. I am literally pulling my hair out.
Is there any other way to unblock ads on the phone to get Hulu Plus working? Is there like some sort of secret cache that I'm suppose to clear using a secret utility I don't know of? Please I need help!
I was never able to get it working on my phone either. I'm convinced it won't work on froyo based roms. I get the same issue with it never being able to get past the buffering screen even with a clean host file. If you are ever able to get it to work on a 2.2 ROM let me know.

Thanks for the quick reply. Sucks for you to hear this but at least I'm glad I'm not the only one with the problem. I'm regretting ever telling my sister to get an Android phone. This is so ridiculous, although I understand this is not exactly the operating system's fault.
I'm about to give up on getting this thing to work on her phone. It's madness.

Hey everyone,
Good old fashioned noob question here. Got my Nexus 7 and love it, but EA apparently hasn't released a version of Scrabble for it yet, as the play store say it's not compatible with my device. Guess I'd like to give it a shot installing it anyway and see how bad or good it is. This is possible, right? If so, how does one go about doing this?
Thanks
the best answer would be 'maybe'.
Yes it should install, but no it might not run

thinking the same... wouldnt mind installing viber but the market says its not compatible with device...
Download the app to your phone, go into data/app, find the app then either move it to the sdcard then transfer it to your N7. A quicker way (if you have an online storage app) is to long press on the app in data/app, select "send", then send it to your online storage then download it to your N7. I use my Box account for this all the time.
Also make sure you check the setting to "allow installation of non-market apps"

Exactly what I've been doing
Easy way once you have downloaded it on your computer is to put it in your dropbox, open dropbox on your tablet, and install.
I used MyAppSharer to save the .apk from my Kindle Fire into my Google Drive and it sideloaded fine on my Nexus 7. It runs fine, but it doesn't use up all of the screen. Haven't tried the phone version yet, so if you do, let me know how it goes.

... and some, like the ASUS Weather Widget work- but you can't save your settings (like wanting the temperature to display in F rather than C) because the "Save" button is off the screen on the N7
I've done it with iReader and it works fine.
DARN! I did it, and it works, but it's tiny. Takes up like 1/5 of the screen. I bet the kindle fire version would be better than the phone version.
Well, thanks for the help everyone! Hey EA...if you're reading this, stop being so lazy and just release a version compatible with the Nexus 7!

Download Bluetooth file transfer by medieval software from play store. In that application, you will find an option like send app. Basically, this software converts the app installed in your phone to .apk file and sends it to the other phone you want. This will help.

NO Root required. Just install the app and shoot..works well on Stock ICS, CM 9.1.0 stable, CM 10 Experimental, Thunderbolt, Slim ICS, Chemeleon 1.1 (tried and tested by me).. no bugs known..
You can use root explorer or try apk extractor both work very well.
