[Q] yellow pages - Captivate Themes and Apps

Is there a way that i can get the older verison of the yellowpage app? The one that is on the blackberry curves bolds and few other at&t phones. Really what i am looking for is a app that will give me truck route directions. The yellowpage app on my bold and rugby had this and is a big help driving over the road.

Ditching ETEN, return to XDA II

I recently bought an ETEN M500 because of the announcement that it would be upgradable to WM2005 and the size of the device. The extra software on the M500 is nothing short of amazing. Never have I seen a pocket pc with so many apps out of the box. I did not have to install SPB Pocket Plus, Pocket Zen or Voice Command. It had similar programs already. And voice dial over bluetooth, WOW, it's about time. So why am I returning to the XDA II. Signal strength. The M500 has horrible reception, I get 4 bars in my house with my XDA II. The M500 couldn't get a signal without me walking outside, not even in the garage with the door open, I had to be outside away from any trees in the open. Yeah, crazy. Maybe they should have spend less time on the apps and focused on building an adequate phone first. None of that matters if you can't use the thing. I also note, even when it showed full bars, the voice of the other person would break in and out. Using my HS820 with the XDA II no one can even tell I am using a headset. Using it with the ETEN, the first thing I heard from everyone was, " what the hell is wrong with your phone". Maybe I just got a defecto, but that would be a reason to keep away as well.
o...is it really a bad machines? How much u paid for it???
I was in the same boat kermit780, but the M500s still a very good device and theres no way in hell I'd go back to a present mda/xda/imate-type product.
This phone was not made with North America in mind (yet) so there are obvious frequency issues- particularly with the 1900mhz range. Eten is on the ball when it comes to issue with this product though. If not the upcoming firmware upgrade, I'm sure the next one will have some sort of radio fix. I'm trying to sell one right now- the primary reason being I needed something with qwerty. The lack of signal as annoying as it was- only secondary because I know it will be a fix to that soon enough.
And no I wouldn't buy a pda2k for that. Its not the size issue- I like going throgh these forums to see whats new out there...not to spend 3+ hours a day searching for a "hack" for something or other. Down right embarassing the amount of money spent on htc phones and the guy standing next to me on the subway with his $200 americanized crap technology Isn't so crap after all because it actually does (did) more than my mda2.
Just my opinion though...M500s a very, very good phone. It will be a great phone once the frequency issue is resolved but doesn't matter if you're not in N American anyway.
For Sale...Cheap. See what real voicedail is like - Plus $20 off for Western Union payment instead of Paypal (avoiding Paypal Final Price Fees so you save...)

Letter to my Tilt

Dear Phone,
I feel privledged to know you... People call you many names like Kaiser, 8925, Tytn II, Vario III, and many others, but you will always be my Tilt. I remember when I first held you in my hand about 2 years ago.. You just "felt right" on my palm. You were very flashy and new... You had a QWERTY slide out keyboard that the buttons were big enough for my "man hands" (unlike your predicessor, my HP iPaq). But at the same time, with your keyboard sled in, you fit so nicely in my pocket.. (Screen facing into my thigh of course to protect your screen)
I remember our first vacation together to Florida from Wisconsin, where you told me right where to go using TomTom... Every turn, and you even managed to work where I had no cellular signal in the Mountians.. And I did not even need to buy you an external GPS "puck".. You did it all yourself without any outside help. When I was low on gasoline, you knew right where I needed to drive to.. When we stopped at motels that had free Wifi, you helped me check and reply to emails, and even IM people on yahoo and aim.. Then when we finally got to Florida, you were the first thing in my hand to call everyone to tell them the great news... You were there at Disney world to snap a quick picture of the family and the fun we had there... and even told me what the weather had in stock for me each day..
When I was at work you were with me... If I had to kill some time, or were just bored, we could play Ka-Glom or Call of Duty to pass the time.. And don't forget the time we played with your emulators.. There was more than once while waiting for appointments in offices and such that there was a crowd that formed aroudn us while we played Super Mario Bros 3 or some SNES game at full speed... You would never let me get bored.
If I needed some information, you surfed the internet like no other before.. I could choose whatever browser I was in the mood for, Skyfire, IE, and others... People would have their iPhones and such, but they had nothing on you... You has a 16gb storage card so you could keep up.. But your internal browser was compatible with orb so I could also access ANY of my 300 additional GB of movies, TV shows, music, and whatever else I had on my home computer... We used to love to play the game "Anything your phone can do, mine can do better". And when I just wanted to sit back and watch a movie, you screen would tilt up to the perfect angle for me to set down you down on the table and watch... And with my stereo bluetooth Motorola S9 earphones you came through loud and clear over distracting background noises!
There were rough times too... I flirted more than once with another... We can not forget when I set you aside and was seen out another.,.. But I always came home to you and learned my lesson... My son even fell in love with you and had to go otu and get one just like you as well... You may have aged some over time.. the shiney metallic layer on some of your front buttons may have flaked off... You may not be the newest and latest that is out there... But I know you are the best... You are the one that has stuck by me for these few years, and I hope many more. I know others have long since abandoned you for a Fuze or whatever the current flavor of the month is, but I will be with you until the end..... Or until I can afford a Touch Pro 2 (just kidding, sort of)... Thank you Tilt for all your hard work... I would not be the same without you..
You proud owner,
Todd in Wisconsin USA
This is so heart touching that I must say goodbye to my trusty 8525 and also follow the call of the Tilt. I want to feel this experience too.I need the GPS security and the friendship on the open road of Mr. T or Ozzy's voice leading me along the way. I must have the Tilt.
I think you will be happy with it.. and now with Tilts being "old" their prices are very affordable for most people.. But personally I prefer "C3PO" as my trusted voice on the road... He sounds rather refined and always calls me "Master".. But seriously.. For me, the Tilt is the best phone ever.. Since getting a tilt I have gotten : a HTC Touch Cruise, a LG Incite, and one or 2 others.. I always came back to the Tilt within a week or so... Sure, there is no g-sensor or FM radio.. but the g-sensor is cool, but nothing that is really that functional.. and with unlimited internet, you can stream most radio stations (even XM/Sirius stations if you have a subscription).. And the tilting screen.. Most people, even other Tilt users wil say it is sort of cool, but not that useful... But wait until you get used to it (assuming you take advantage of watching video on it)... hacong one that just lays flat on the screen will not be acceptable after that... I truely beleive it is the best phone ever...
ever since i got mine from a second hand store i have fallen in love with it. It is hands down the best phone I have ever used. I only paid 200 for it and once I learned how to put new roms on it my phone had a life that I had not know before. Battery life is the only issue I really have with this phone and even that I am willing to put up with just beause I love this phone that much. I recommend anyone who is serious about their phone get one of these it has made my experience the best I've ever had.

That just says it all...
try an iPhone and you will **** your pants.
See, for me, the Kaiser was an enormous disappointment. It's an ever-so-slightly better phone (you know, making phone calls) than my Apache, but everything else about it was worse. The hype machine said Kaiser would solve all my problems, but in the end, it was pretty much the same, but slower (damn, you, AT&T).
Now that my Kaiser's given out on me (I'm running on a loaner Kaiser ATM), I'm VERY EAGERLY anticipating my Touch Pro 2 coming to replace it when AT&T finally gets their act together.

The iphone is fast but it lacks customization, and the UI isn't as informational, functional or productive as windows mobile 6.5. I don't want icons with side scrolling pages... but large text scrolling down..and being able to customize the UI within the OS. Windows might be lacking in speed and in feel but I think they got down the hard part down 1st in the mobile phone/device..once they mimic iphones speed and overall feel..its pretty much done for apple.

Wow... How did my love letter to my tilt become an iphone topic? *cough TRAITORS cough*
The original reason for this thread was to see if anyone else would share their fond memories of their Kaiser.... So, anyone want to share?
Dancing with the devil
My friends,
I have to say when I saw this topic I too thought things in Wisconsin must be direly dull. But I have to say, The Tilt was a revelation for me. For the past two years, I have used and loved my Tilt. I have enjoyed trying multiple renditions of WM6.X and have enjoyed bricking my phone on more than one occasion. But trouble's a-brewing. I got a new Itouch for my birthday and have to say I am enchanted with all that it can do. Now when you add in the thought of being able to make phone calls out of the same device; well, I'm strapping on a pair of Depends in preperation of ****ting my pants.
Though you all may deny it, I know that you have all gone to an AT&T store and played extensively with an Iphone. I have too. And now that I near the end of my contractual agreement with AT&T, I find that I am duly ready to <I>UPGRADE</I> to an Iphone. I know that some people fell out of there rolling-chair when I said upgrade, but the intuitive-ness of the device is undeniable. It knows me as only a lover could. Will I miss the WM world? Absolutely. But I have to beleive that there are wonderful forums for the Iphone just as there has been for the Kaiser and the Hermes and the Raphael.
So watch out clean pair of underoos, i am preparing for a true colon-blow! Soon I will have an Iphone and will retire my Tilt to the top shelf of my tech-storage closet; never to see the light of day again.
Good-bye my friend.
you are da man bro
you da man bro. my Tilt was broken for 2 months..hadda cracked screen..i gotta replacement screen from Hong Kong for $25 and replaced it myself and now we are back in action. reading your post brought back sweet memories of my Tilt and I...i can't wait to see where I take this baby next. You mean "dumbed-down" like iPhone
Regarding the previous post of yours:
Did you **** in your pants because you couldn't copy'and'paste, didn't have 3G, didn't have MMS, the only "software" you can use on your iPhone are webkit applets for the browser, and so on?
(I know it got 3G and finally cut'n'paste this year, but that's about all that has changed since I "****ted in my pants" when I discovered how stupid I was to waste my money on such castrated dumbphone )

I'm trying to help a friend with his neighbor issues.

I've got a friend who is neighbors with a parrannoid schizzophorennic. The neighbor is constantly filming, taking photos of him, his family, kids, anyone who stops by. This consist of a few cameras on his property which are pointed directly at my friends house. He also steps outside with his handheld and will walk down the street shooting into his windows. The neighbor has filed a restraining order with my friend because he got angry one day at this and the conversation was recorded. Neighbor told me he is not allowed to install his own surveilance equipment due to something from one of his court sessions. The neighbor has done many destructive things, such as shooting the sprinklers deliberately into his vehicles when he forgets to roll the windows up in the hot summer. This has caused thousands of dollars worth of damages to the brand new paint on one vehicle, and the water damage to the interior on others. I have heard a few recommendations he has been given, such as get some very powerful IR hunting lights which are invisible to our eyes, apparently these will render the neighbors equipment useless as it will blind them, or possibly destroy them. He doesn't want to keep his blinds closed all the time as he really enjoys the sunlight. Maybe someone here has some tips.

Also the show is good =)
That's the dumbest show I've ever seen. Most of those people over do it. I do have like a weeks worth of stuff in my basement but that more for any heavy snowstorms in the winter, not world ending situations. A gun with about 2000 rounds of ammo is always good to have laying around.
what about cell phones?
one from each carrier with 10 backup batteries each (each should have an FM Radio)
with some extra/pre-paid Sims for the GSM ones.
I havent seen one person of the half-dozen episodes I saw really mention cell phones, other than the fact all lines will probably be down.
I live in a large city in a high rise, Im screwed.
my best advise in USA.. head for canada fast!!
Well I'm not preparing for the apocalypse because I don't care, plus the apocalypse won't happen for a LONG time.

Anyone from Las Vegas???? Need a pic snapped if possible

I just returned from LV today. On the cab ride I saw the STOOOOPIDEST billboard I have ever seen. I was running late so I couldn't ask the cabby to turn around to let me take a pic.
I stayed at the Embassy Suites in 3600 block of Paradise. The cabby took Paradise south straight to the airport.
About half-way down to the airport, on the left their is a new Embassy Suites. I think the address is 4315 Swenson. Just one block off Paradise on the left but it can be seen easily from Paradise. (Doesn't look like a traditional Embassy and is right across from the Hard Rock.
I believe the billboard was just beyond that towards the airport. Billboard was also on the left and it was definitely on Paradise. One of those huge billboards about 40-50 feet off the ground that is v-shaped.
I would love to have a picture of that billboard. All I have to offer is a thanks. Many thanks.
Here is what was so funny and stoooooopid.
It was a billboard about the evils of texting and driving. You could get killed, etc, blah, blah, blah. BUT it had a HUGE QR code on it to scan for more information. They don't want you texting while driving but scanning a QR code while you are driving is okay I guess. LOL
Again it was on the left side of Paradise and was really a kind of barren area so no pedestrian traffic for someone walking to stop and scan the QR code. It was one of those V shaped billboards where one side is aimed at northbound traffic and the other side is aimed at southbound. It was targeted at the southbound traffic headed to the airport.
I would love to have a pic of that billboard.
Many thanks if anyone is on the area and can stop and snap a pic.
