Problem flashing recovery.img - GT540 Optimus Android Development

Ok I've the Russian fastboot ROM installed on the phone and in the process and this is as far as I get
Code:
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.
C:\android-sdk-windows\tools>fastboot.exe flash recovery C:\misc.img
(and I've tried the other recovery.img also)
< waiting for device >
I've tried that plugging in and out of different USB drives as suggested by a few people
I've a feeling it's something to do with the drivers, could someone please post a link to the suitable drivers for this, because whenever I plug it in it say "new Device found: Android" and then I click on the bubble and try to install the suggested driver but it fails to find any driver for it.

[Q] Android 2.2.2 fastboot issues

I recently bought a DS7 from dell.com, it is a tmobile edition. It came with Android 2.2.2 installed. Here are the specs:
Baseband version 11.809.05.03.00
Kernel version 2.6.32.9
OEM Version GLUNB1A133633
Build Number 15420.
So in order to use my front facing camera and skype i decided to upgrade to Honeycomb 3.2. I cannot seem to get my computers (AMD64 win7pro 64 and Intel i7 win7 32) to accept the drivers in the fastboot+ADB zip file on the forum.
Basically, when the DS7 is in fastboot mode, it has the red text, followed by white text "Starting Fastboot USB download protocol". I plug in the USB cord to the computer. Computer device manager recognizes the device as "fastboot", but does not associate any drivers to the hardware. Attempts to update driver through device manager, pointing to the unziped fastboot+ADB.zip folder does not work.
Both computer do not have drivers associated with this "fastboot" hardware that pops up when i plug the DS7 in the USB port of the computers. CWmod app cannot flash CWmod recovery, i am guessing because the DS7 has 2.2.2, and not 2.2 .
I also cannot seem to find the drivers.zipfile that should be in the rootdirectory of the ds7.
Help !
Anyone with any suggestions?
Could you do the following for me?
(assumes you're on windows, which you said you are)
Go to control panel
Open up device manager
Find the device (it should be yellow icon as it needs the driver)
Open the details tab
Go to "Hardware IDs"
Post the contents of the tab
That will help me get the driver package working
1. Get device into fastboot
2. Plug it in
3. Go to device manager.
4. Right click on device -> proprties
5. Click on "Update driver"
6. Click on "Browse my Computer for software driver"
7. Click on "let me choose from a list of device drivers on my computer"
8. Click on "All devices"
9. Click on "have disk"
10. point it to the directory with your drivers
11. Press okay
12. Select "Android bootloader"
13. Win
I had the same problem
It turns out the driver was already installed. An easy way to find out is...
Start fastboot while your device is plugged in and run the command: "fastboot devices" Mine shows up as "? fastboot" if nothing shows then you know the driver is still not installed.
I don't know if that will help you any.

agree (see below)
I - Install APX (NVFlash Recovery) Drivers if not already installed. It starts a device driver wizard to help you install the drivers needed for NVFlash. It detects your system OS and gives on-screen instructions if running Windows 8. FYI the drivers are located under ToolKitFiles\nvflash\driver folder.

Prepare Phone
-Power down phone
-Remove battery
-Hold VOL_DWN+VOL_UP & plug in USB connection from computer (note, your phone will not visibly respond but it will boot to APX mode quickly)
-Open Device Manager in Windows and you should see "APX Device" listed with an error, or not if you have used NVFlash before
-Right click on the APX device
-Select 'Update driver software'
-Select 'Browse my computer...'
-Select 'Let me pick...'
-Select 'Have disk'
-Browse to directory you extracted the *driver* software to above (It's included in Stefan's zip)
-Select 'NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for mobile devices'
-Accept any warnings, including the big red alert (you may need to disable UAC)
-Now in Device Manager under 'USB Controllers' you should have an 'NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for mobile devices'
If not, uninstall the driver, reboot, rinse and repeat
Install the rom:
- Go to the folder where you unpacked Stefans rom
- Run Windows installer and follow instructions on screen, should be peace of cake for everyone!
- DONE
I think you should try either updating your drivers for the phone and if that doesn't work, try an older version then.

[Q] need help if someone can...

ok i tryied to use all in one tool and i want to flash to ics to my thrill but as far as i got is on the tool it goes to stage 2 but waiting for device stays there even after i do place to battery in it.. it acts all over again as if it cant find the driver for cosmo i think that is what it is called....but im running windows 7
When it says waiting on device try pulling out the usb and then plug it right back in. I use to have to do that, but if that doesn't work then it may be a driver issue.
Maybe start the tool and when it says waiting for omap4430 device, hold down vol+ and plug in your phone but don't let go of vol+. Pop in battery like normal and it should boot you into download mode. See if that helps get your LG Cosmo driver to install, though it should install as LGE CDMA USB SERIAL PORT. if that doesn't happen, as a last resort uninstall all LG mobile drivers, reboot cpu, download the files from step 1 and step 5 of this post---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39269819 (bag of goodies and wkparks 1.21) Turn off your anti virus and windows defender before doing anything. Once thats done unzip the two files mentioned above. Run the omap flash installer and re install both Sets of LG mobile drivers in the bag of goodies package (second set will pop up a warning for unsigned drivers a few times; hit YES do it anyways, and then re install omap by directing the driver update to the windows drivers folder in the wkparks bootloader1.21 tool. Hopefully this helps.
Here is a much better explaination from drastic00's tutorial. Follow these steps to the T and you should be flashing in no time
" A) Uninstall any LG Drivers:
a1) Open Programs and Features through Control Panel
a2)Find any drivers called "LG United Mobile Driver." Right click and select Uninstall, let it work.
a3)Reboot your pc!
B) Be sure you disabled antivirus/Windows Defender, etc. before unpacking these files.
C) Install OMAP4430 by running "OMAPFlashInstaller."
NOTE: if you have Fastboot installed SKIP this step (if you don't know, you don't have it...), but DO link the driver as in f4.
D) Install the two LG Drivers in the “LG United Mobile Drivers” folder: These are “LGUnitedMobileDriver_S497CA20_WHQL_ML_Ver_1. 0” and “LGUnitedMobileDriver_S497MA20_WHQL_ML_Ver_1. 0” The second one will warn it is unsigned, choose to install anyway (you will have to insist on this a few times here).
E)Reboot your pc!
F)Install PC/phone drivers:
f1)Shut down your phone. Remove external sd card, SIM card and battery.
f2) Open Device Manager from Control Panel
f3) Hold volume up on phone and connect to USB port. Keep holding volume up.
f4)Look for "OMAP4430" blinking on and off in Device Manager with a yellow question mark under "Other Devices." (You can let go of the phone). If you do not see it, look for "TI Boards" blinking in device manager and quickly open the arrow. Then uninstall that OMAP4430 (right click, check box to uninstall device and driver, confirm), disconnect phone and reconnect with volume up. Then...
f.4.1) You will need to 'catch' OMAP4430 (with yellow question mark) by right-clicking on it when it appears under "Other Devices." Choose "Update Driver Software."
f.4.2) Pick "Browse my computer for driver software." Then "Let me pick..."
f.4.3) Leave "All..." selected under Devices. Then "Have Disk."
f.4.4) Navigate to the omap4boot-for_optimus-v1.21 folder and choose "omap_winusb" in the usb_drv_windows folder.
f.4.5) Windows will warn the driver is unsigned. Install anyway. An OMAP4430 device should appear under the list of devices. Confirm the selection. Let the driver install.
f.4.6) Disconnect the phone and again reconnect with volume up held.
f5) You should see a popup at the bottom of your screen about drivers (the LG USB drivers) installing. (If you do not see it, disconnect phone, reboot your pc, and again connect it without battery while holding volume up). When you do see drivers installing, let go of the volume button. Click the popup to see the progress. Let it finish.
f6) Look for “LGE CDMA USB SERIAL PORT” in Device Manager. Right click on it and go to Properties
f7) Select the "Port Settings" tab and click 'Advanced'.
f8) Change 'COM Port Number:' to COM41. Click OK, then OK again.
f9) Disconnect your phone from the PC." (From drastic00's noob tutorial)

Can't unlock bootloader - fastboot issue

Hello,
I am trying to unlock my bootloader but I my computer (Windows 10) does not recognize fastboot.
When I connect to fastboot (holding volume up button + connecting my phone by USB when it's off, or using the adb reboot fastboot command), the computer does not recognize the phone. I then tried installing drivers (both from Google and Sony) by going into device manager but Windows just doesn't install the drivers.
I then saw this on Sony's website:
Fastboot driver - Sony Developer World
developer.sony.com
So I download the file and pasted it instead of the same file (android_winusb.inf) in the Google driver folder, and it somewhat worked, but Windows said something like unable to find drivers for ADB.
I also tried to install in Windows test mode but to no avail.
No matter what I tried, entering the command fastboot devices in fastboot mode does not give me any output (not even "waiting for device").
What am I doing wrong?
Thank you!
