After trying to flash Roto-JME firmware and having great troubles with USB drivers and getting my GT to remain connected during the entire flashing process, my GT finally died on me...
Now it won't turn on at all.. However, I can bring (somewhat) to life by plugging it into a wall outlet after which the screen turns and on in 20 second interval displaying the "Connection interrupted" graphic.
When I connect to my PC via the USB cable, it won't turn on at all.
Does anyone have any tips as to how to get my GT to turn on again??
Thank you so much!

So you see the "Phone ! PC" graphic?
Can you explain exactly which files you flashed, and what you did when the Tab disconnected during flashing?
Yes, the "Phone ! PC" graphic.
Initially, my problem was that I had succesfully installed Roto-JME, but then had proceeded to install the latest version of ClockWorkMod (version 3.0), which f*cked up everything - my guess is the conversion to ext4 - after which my SGT wouldn't boot up past the "Samsung Galaxy Tab" logo...
After having had trouble getting my SGT to stay connected, I installed a different version of the "Samsung USB driver for mobile phones", namely for the Samsung Galaxy S, and compatible with Windows 7 x64 (version 1.3.350), which is my current operating system. I installed these drivers on top of the drivers that came with the latest version of Kies (version 1.3.1600).
I the tried to flash the following files through ODIN:
PDA: P1000XWJJ4-REV03-ALL-CL639474.tar.md5
PHONE: MODEM_P1000XXJID.tar.md5
CSC: GT-P1000-CSC-SERJJ2.tar.md5
PIT: P1_add_hidden.pit
The flashing process FAILED during the flashing of FACTORYFS.RFS, I believe, and then my SGT went blank, and it will not turn on again....

That's an easy fix. I got into the same situation, flashed JM6 with .pit and repartition and brought my tab back to life. Only problem is that now I have a locked boot loader, but I don't care much b/c soon Tab2 will be out.
Sorry, maybe I didn't make myself clear: I cannot turn on my SGT, which means I cannot get it to show up in Odin, or elsewhere (e.g. Droid Explorer, Android Commander, etc.)...

You either have a Tab that wont power on (blank screen) or one with the "Phone ! PC" screen on it.
If its blank, then theres even more to this story that you haven't told us.
Okay, let me be specific:
1) Plugged into a wall outlet: Phone ! PC screen showing up at intervals. Won't turn on or go into download mode.
2) Plugged into my PC: Blank screen. Won't turn on or go into download mode.

"Phone ! PC" is download mode. So thats good. I've never seen it flash on and off though.
The only thing that I know of that can screw up "download mode" is to flash a firmware with a bootloader. Do you recall flashing and or repartitioning with anything else?
Have you tried holding the down volume key and then pressing power to see if you can get into a solid download mode? I'm thinking the graphics for the battery charger got screwed up and now your seeing something else flashing in its place, and maybe the Tab is really off.
zyborg, your computer should see the Tab when Phone-!-Pc screen is on provided you have correct drivers on your Windows PC. One of my PCs running Win 7 with USB drivers downloaded from Samsung web site.
It is possible to flash firmware in this mode. Use Roto-JME with repartitioning and SD reformatting. It looks like you corrupted system directories. BTW CWM installes only new recovery. Possibly it was a wrong one.
I'm pretty sure that the JJ4 firmware DOES contain a bootloader, yes.
Yes, I have tried holding the down volume key and then pressing power several times, and it doesn't work, sorry.

Then the problem is due to the combination of a flaky flashing setup while flashing a firmware with a bootloader.
If everything isn't perfect, then flashing a bootloader is an exercise in "Flash to Fail" which is why I prefer folks not to flash them unless absolutely needed.
Does the device power off when you hold the power button for 10 seconds?
Plugged into wall outlet: No, it doesn't. I reboots into the Phone ! PC screen. If I unplug the device, or turn off the power, the device turns off by itself. In some instances, however, the Phone ! PC screen remains on, in which case I've tried to bring the device over to my PC to connect it, but the device still doesn't register on my PC (no new device is added / USB drivers installed).
I'm guessing the boot process is in some sort of loop due to a misflashed bootloader... or am I wrong?
So what do I do?

The only chance left is to force the tab to boot into the spare secondary bootloader with a special value resistor soldered across the pins of power cable connector. I haven't tried it myself as I'm waiting for some spare cables to arrive,
Does anyone know another way?
Can I order such a cable/resistor online?

I've been in similar situation but odin could always recognize the Tab.
My guess is the Tab might need recharging. Having weak battery might result in turning it off quickly and failing of handshake. I would suggest to keep it charging for a couple hours and then turn it on and see whether Odin would recognize the Tab.
I like the idea of special cable. If I get directions I can probably make it tomorrow and try. I have components and plenty of spare cables.
If you can make a spare cable and test this, that would be awesome.
Thank you for the suggestion, but I've already tried leaving it charging for several hours, but as soon as I disconnect it from the wall outlet, it turns off and won't turn on...

My device just miraculously turned on!!! I had left it connected to my PC (via the USB cable), while watching a movie, and then - out of the blue - it turned on and the PC then proceeded to install the USB drivers. It still shows the Phone ! PC screen, but is connectable through ODIN.
What do you recommend I do now?
What should I flash, how, and in what order?
UPDATE: It seems like the device's current behaviour when connected to my PC is the same as its behaviour when connect to a wall outlet - only slower. It turns on and off at intervals (of 20 seconds, or so)... Which makes it very hard for me to flash anything to the device. Any suggestions?
Choice is yours but I would recommend pre-rooted Roto-JME ROM. Follow his post in the development section. It has links to easy flashing guide as well. In similar situation I've selected the ROM with reformatting of the internal SD memory and repartitioning.
Good luck!
Just read the thread by chance and my first reaction to your explanation about the different behavior between the wall outlet plug and the PC led me immediately to "The tab may very well need charging". It seems Adapt0r had the same immediate idea as well...
Have you tried to keep the Tab plugged in the outlet for a couple of hours and then tried to plug it again to the PC ?

So, to start off, the issue at hand is not download mode, I can get into that quite easily. It's that neither one click odin or regular odin won't recognize it. I've gone back to stock so many times without issue, but this particular time I tried, it froze on sbl.bin. My screen turned a greenish black, and stayed on that for about 10 minutes before I decided it was frozen and I did a battery pull. Tried it again and the exact same thing happened. Now, windows says "One of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it"
I was going from icezar's Darky's 5.5 to stock when this happened. I've gone from the first i9000 2.2.1 stock rom back to stock 2.1 with no problems before. Any ideas? I've also reinstalled drivers, and I still get that error. also, my power button doesn't do squat when it's completely powered off. Only the volume up+down button combo can bring the download screen up, other than that, no go.
Ouch - You've reinstalled the drivers.
Odin doesn't see it when you have download mode and the USB plugged in.
Can you get ADB to see the device while in download mode?
You had USB Debugging turned on before things went south?
Hmm.. you could try:
Turn on ODIN
Remove the SIM, external SDCard, and battery.
Hold down both volume buttons - plug in the USB cable then jam in the battery and see if ODIN will recognize it then.
But.. if you can't get the computer to recognize your device even after re-installing the USB Drivers?
eh you might wait for a few more posts - but I think you might be fubard.
so you went into download mode, clicked start in ODIN 1 click and got hung up? nothing else happened during the process? Was the cable plugged all the way in?
Not sure how ADB would work if windows isn't recognizing it.. Do you have another PC you can connect to?
Sounds like it pooched while he was trying to Odin 1 Click back to stock and now its probably fubard as his computer won't recognize the device.
Good call on trying a different computer.
Btw - where are you downloading the USB drivers from? There are multiple sources out there and some seem to work better than others.
Thanks for the replies guys
I got them from the wiki page way back when around it was first put up... but I haven't really changed them since they were the only ones that I found worked at the time and pretty well actually, they've recognized my captivate perfectly all the time! Well, until recently. I also have kies mini installed if that means anything. I am gonna try a friend's computer and see what happens. *crosses fingers*

If you're able to provide information as to exactly what you did to get your device in this state that would be immensely helpful in regards to diagnosing the problem. However you'll probably be able to recover your device using a custom jig.
I can not be more explicit. I wanted to try a rom. Wasn't satisfied so i downloaded another one (with cache file, database file, bootloader, etc... ) but the file have been dowloaded too quickly (i think the zip file was corrupted...)
So i did the flash, and my tab don't wake up. I don't have a brick state (with the usb and pc logo). I don't have the samsung/galaxy tab logo. Ihave nothing on my screen. Like my on/off button was broken...
And whatever i do(like the combo on/off with the volume down), my computer don't recognize the tab. So i can't flash it again.

Well you're going to have to be if you want anyone's help.
What files did you flash? Which software did you use? Which version? Were you given errors? How did you flash the files?
Please provide a detailed step by step run-down of exactly what you did.
I can't remember, and i'm french, i can't find the right word to explain the situation...
I flashed my tab with HEIMDALL (the last version on the website) i think the problem is when i wanted to flash with the file EURO.pit (i choose this file in the "bootloader" category of the software HEIMDALL).
The problem... My computer can't recognyze the tab because i can't turn on the tab, so... I don't know what can i do.
EDIT: And HEIMDALL don't tell me any error. Just "Flash Complete, Rebooting"
EDIT 2: I think i used the wrong bootloader...
Up?
What can i do? Is a batterie problem?
Let your Tab charging for 5 Hours and then try again.
Sounds like you've flashed a bootloader not designed for your tablet. Luckily all Galaxy S devices store a backup copy of the secondary bootloader which is utilised when a certain resistance is detected on the USB port. You can send it off to Samsung and they'll repair it, but they might charge you. The other option is to build your own custom jig which will activate the backup secondary bootloader.
now ive got the same problem. i tried a custom recovery i found in the "bible" sticky...clock work wasnt working when i was doing adb commands. the recovery i tried is called 3e. all it would do is reboot, t-mo logo and then bootloader words would flash very quick and black screen (backlit) press the back button and i got the triangle droid.
then i got it to go into download mode and tried a rom with odin this is the rom if it helps
GT-P1000_P1000XXJME_P1000OXAJME_P1000XXJMB_P1000XXJME_XX_ITV.zip.enc
unzipped, selected in pda and clicked start. failed at the last second and the downloading android screen on tab was stuck so i powered it down.
stupid stupid stupid!
now it wont turn on period, i get nothing from usb connection or secret button presses.
ill try the "rig" tomorrow, but how will i hack up this galaxy usb to work? the guide says micro usb but obviously thats for a phone.
please help if you can, i just got this thing today
@Benjamin: I can do a custom jig for a galaxy tab?
EDIT: But i don't think the jig will help me..
"If your phone screen is always black, that is it does not display the white Galaxy S/Samsung/AT&T logo when you switch it on, then sorry, this jig will not help you. "
HELP please? Can i do a custom jig for the galaxy tab? And How?
press and hold the power button for 10 second make sure it totally off
then try to enter download mode
if u are able to enter download mode
flash roto jme v4
if it a battery problem
i think it may be battery flat, try plug it in to the charger see if it work after 10 min

Having a Jig is always a good idea. Remove battery, open Odin, connect phone in PC press Vol up and down, insert battery. If that doesn't work then get a jig.
If for whatevever reason after the Odin process you get the "Firmware Upgrade fail !, Try using recovery mode" screen,
don't worry. Treat that screen just like the regular download screen. Go ahead and pull the battery and
get back into download mode (that failure screen will come up), Odin should recognize your phone and then you can repeat
the Odin process. And it should Pass.
Thanks for reply. Tried everything to get Odin to recognize but no luck. Might need to see how fast I can get a jig...
If ur screen has the "Firmware upgrade fail etc., etc." then Odin will recognize ur phone. Close the Odin, then right click it and run as administrator, then connect ur phone to the computer (use a usb in the back of it if u r on a desktop or first port on a laptop--don't use a usb hub). Then if the com port on Odin turns yellow, u r good to go.

Looks like I hard bricked my cappy finally after a year and a half of flashing it...it is my fault, I thought my cable was securely plugged into my computer, but my cat decided to walk in between my phone and the computer, unplugging it during an Odin flash...Now all I get is a black screen and nothing. I reseated the battery, same deal....did the whole, remove battery, hold down vol up and vol down and plugged in usb and then placed battery in and still no love....I also tried the normal, remove battery, replace battery, hold down vol up and vol down and then plugging in usb...nothing...computer doesn't beep as to recognize a usb deivce has been plugged in and I even booted into my Linux box and it doesnt see it...I think I finally killed it...I do have a Jig on order though that is set to arrive tomorrow...I am hoping that puts me in download mode, if not it looks like I am buying a SG2. Anyone else have any ideas that I could throw a this thing other than what I already did? I mean I even tried different versions of Odin and Odin wont even recognize it.
If your phone shows no sign on life, you have only two options, one is JTAG and other in UnBrickableMod by Adam Outler.
First apply this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1206216
Second do this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242466
If you can not handle the hardware modification yourself, contact Adam, he can do it for you for a nominal cost.

The phone-pc-triangle is not a hard brick.
1. Use adam outler's one click unbrick. For this, i have to ask if your COMPUTER (not necessarily) even sees the device.
2. or it is jig time. If you cannot wait, and can access radio shack, make this simple jig http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=889128. There are lots like this.......I know, because this home made one worked just fine for me.
Remember, for some reason the second time around the exact same 'jig" - previously used - did not work, so it looks like a one time shot ??
good luck !

Hello
Just to make sure you did plug it in with battery out and volume up button pressed?
If you did and it still doesn't work then your x-loader and U-boot is definitely fried.
Then we can confirm that SW Update is done from already working U-boot (We are trying to modify the KU5900 V30 to fit our phone but we needed to make modifications to U-boot and we too afraid to test because of this.)
If you plug your phone in does your computer detect it at all? (If your computer is running Linux then there's nothing anyone can do short of opening up the device and re-flash the flash memory using specialized tools. Well that's the conclusion I drew when scouring the internet a few days now in search of a method to revive a boot-loader-less Optimus.)
If your computer detects anything then you can save your phone.
You said that the service-centre said that the boot-loader is gone. Did they refuse to fix it?
I'm going to keep on searching to find a way to fix it from shot boot-loader so that we can start working in modified U-boot and of course now to help you too.
Hope you get your phone fixed.
Good Luck

In general, what should I do? Point the blind on the themes of repair or tell what to expect?

Your ROM is fine since it Read Only
Instead of booting from the Flash Memory in the phone (which doesn't work in your case) I have been looking into the possibility of booting from SD Card. Easy to fix if something goes wrong and doesn't do anything to the device itself. In your case if you can boot from SD Card then you can restore your first few partitions and have SW Update Working again and recover from there.
The Rom supposedly looks for boot devices in the Following Order :
Seral -> SD -> Nand
Booting from Serial is nearly impossible since we can't make a proper connection to the phone without U-boot already set up. LG probably did it on purpose.
Booting from SD is the next thing. I only recently came onto the idea and I still have to figure out how I am going to approach this.
LG has the power to change the ROM so it might not be possible to do this. I will post again as soon as I find out what order our device looks for boot devices.
Good Luck in your efforts.

How did you come to this failure? As I read, there was an error updating the firmware.
Give us a background. What firmware did you flash? KDZ or BIN? Did you modify anything?
Must try bringing up S/W Updater mode. Insert USB and press volume up for few seconds and don't release.
Hmm, maybe wrong ROM flashed? Then it would be changed anything related with x-loader and u-boot...
But when looking this,

Yep. Might want to rest it for several minutes, or hours. Remove battery and let it sit for a while. Then try again booting in S/W update. Volume up (+) first and then insert USB.
Connecting the charger is not indicating the display screen.
NOT S/W repair.
after a failed firmware - Display never light up.
Read about boot from a flash card, please give more files or describe a way to restore the phone

Tried to connect the phone to the computer, nothing happens, the new device is not connected to the computer

I ran some tests today and they were not so informative. Afterwards I found out that the X-loader I used looks for U-boot from the onboard storage first so it might have worked but just loaded U-boot from normal storage and continued as if nothing funny happened.
I'll keep you posted.

Good news! Our Device Supports Booting from SD
I recently figured out that we have a internal sd the is booted from, I always though it was NAND.:silly:
I'll have a test for you to run in a few days, maybe less. I don't expect much more than the LG logo to show, but thats more than what you got, right .

I haven't been able to get a working solution. (I think mine stops when finding working X-loader from device itself then continueing)
I don't have time this very instant to write how I make (supposedly) bootable SD. I won't have time tomorow either, unfortunately. I should have time over the weekend.
Do you have a linux machine availiable? I don't know of a way to do it in Windows or OSX.
This is still a long shot by any chance. You should look into the possibilaty of taking your phone to a cellphone repair shop (Not your service provider a proper cellphone repair shop). It might cost a bit, but it will make your phone work again.

Yes, I have a Linux OS. (Gentoo / CentOS / Ubuntu )
Bricked P970 stuck at LG logo
Hi, I have a P970h which had Huexxx's Zeus 7.0 ROM and I sent CWM to do a backup of the ROM's current state. I continued to work but then I realized the phone was still sitting in th LG logo after quite a while. I dindn't know Zeus had the option to go into recovery by pressing a physical key (G button) multiple times while starting boot and I got into CWM recovery thinking I had pressed a key combination. I was able to wipe the cache and the phone booted normally but as I didn't have the battery in the phone as it was booting when I put the battery and unplugged the phone from USB it still showed as if I had full battery, so I sent the phone to reboot.
From that moment on I wasn't able to find the "key combination" that got me into CWM recovery and I flashed the stock ROM to send it to warranty to my local carrier. They weren't able to get it passed the LG logo and told me that it was due to the phone being dropped as it was showing a little bump on one of the corners of the battery cover and told me that because of that bump the warranty was void.
I have tried to get it out of the bricked state via SMARTFLASH, LG Mobile Support Tool, KDZ_FW_UPD, using the stock KDZ file for my device, injecting CWM and so on, but I'm still staring at the LG logo. I'm able to get into S/W Upgrade mode at any time, and the problem presented is the typical brick with the LG logo showing and the action keys smoothly and repeteadly going on and off.
I'm not new at using ROMS but it's the first time this happens to me and I'm sure if I'm able to go into fastboot or recovery I'll be able to unbrick the device, the first thing that comes out of my mind is if it is possible to reverse engineer a flasheable ZIP file with Zeus ROM so I can access CWM recovery into a KDZ file but I don't think that's possible.
What do you think I can do in this case? Should I feel hopeless?

Your bootloader is fine. If you can go to SW Update mode and device is pysically OK, then you can easily recover. Go to SW Update and follow recovery procedure using SFT. If that doesn't work (asuming you did it right) then your device is physically broken.

I have done the SFT procedure propperly, if I'm not mistaken, that's the tool I initially used to root the device, I have tried the stock KDZ file, converted to BIN and FLS and a couple of BIN and FLS packs posted here at XDA but haven't been able to get it to work. I have only dropped my device twice, once without silicon case and the other with silicon protection, both times the height of the fall was minimal and they were far back from the moment the phone bricked.
After my first attempt to unbrick via SFT I started thinking this was a faulty device and it was a fail waiting to happen since shipped from factory and that's the reason why I sent it to warranty claim. Thanks anyway...
Hi everyone,
I started to use custom roms about some months ago, and I'm facing my biggest problem right now, hope someone can help me.
I flashed my phone via TWRP Custom recovery with CM10.1 and one day, suddenly the pin (that little entering for the charger and usb cables) stopped working, so I couldn't charge my phone in any "normal" way, I started using a direct battery charger. But today I flashed my phone with another version of CM and forgot to wipe data/cache, so now it's stucked in the CM boot animation. Thing is, I can't even access to recovery mode to flash again because for some reason, everytime I turn my phone off, it turns on automatically. Without pressing any button, and it doesn't give me time to do the vol-/home/power combo. I can't use any direct cable alternative either for what I described above. So I was wondering if some of you had a similar problem and can give me a hand with this. I'd be very much appreciated it.
Many thanks and greetings from Perú!

Press recovery combos when your turning off, see if that works, you might just be holding power too long and it turns on again
No usb at all? If you can connect with adb, you can reboot to recovery that way.

Use key combos mate... and after the phone vibrates, release only power button for avoiding the autorestart :fingers-crossed:
Hi, thanks all for your advices. I try em all but with no sucess. Though, something weird happened today. After the battery completely drained I tried charging it with the my regular charger, the cable to the wall one, and the phone vibrated, like it recognized it, but didn't turn on. Just vibrated. So I tried again using my micro USB to PC cable and the phone vibrated again when I plugged in to the USB port, but didn't turn on either, nor the PC recognized the device. Don't know if this is good or bad :S
If you have any more ideas, please let me know.
Thanks!

I'm trying this, but it keeps auto restarting. I'll describe what I'm doing, maybe there's something wrong:
1. Insert the battery.
2. Phone vibrates, I press Vol-/Home/Power and Samsung Galaxy S3 mini shows.
3. Keep pressing the combo and the phone turns off
4. Release the power button
5. Phone vibrates and again shows the Samsung logo and then the CM boot animation
Turn off again and same.
Thanks for the advice!
Hi again, I managed to get to "Odin Mode", the recovery that comes by default with the phone. Don't know why if I had TWRP installed. Does anyone know if it's gonna help me in some way? Remember I can't use a cable
Thanks!
How did you get into "Odin Mode"? Are you sure the cable is not working when the phone is in download mode?
Got into it by doing the button combo, tried several times and it was tricky but finally got it. And yeah I quickly connected to the computer (I have a Macbook but I also try on a PC) neither of them recognized it. Don't know what else to do
Try wireless adb.
When connected to computer:
Code:
adb shell
su
reboot recovery
As far as I know the phone should not vibrate everytime you put battery back. But if you're able to go into odin you should be able to go into recovery (unless volume up key is damaged). But... while in odin... you can go back to stock rom and that should solve lots of your problems mate.

Hi tys0n, thanks for your suggestion. I did a little research and found that to connect the phone on adb wirelessly I'd need a previously installed app. Do you know any other way to get it?

You also need a working rom.
If the usb connector on the phone is broken, you can buy another one for 4$ on ebay, but you'll need to solder it and it's a smd component with small pins, so it may be difficult.
You can also try to reboot your phone in safe mode:

Yeah, thats true. A working system is needed.
Just a question.. When you try to enter recovery (vol+/home/power), have you tried to keep pushing when it reboots?
Have you tried to connect usb in download mode (vol-/home/power) to see if Odin detects it?
Whiteout a being able to synch to your computer or accessing recovery mode youre not gonna be able to restore your phone. Your best bet is buying a new micro usb cable (they are inexpensive) and restore using Odin.

Yeah, I keep pushing the buttons combo and it reboots again, it won't start to boot CM, just displays de Samsung logo and reboots. About the second question, I've tried connecting the computer while in Odin mode but it won't recognize it, I haven't tried with Odin itself open because my primary computer is a Macbook and don't have a PC with the Odin installed near to me all the time. Do you think it could recognize the device, despite the fact the whole PC doesnt?
Thanks!

Oh, I see. You mention you could access odin mode, Im not familiar with it, but maybe it is possible that you could flash TWRP again, or CWR from the odin recovery? Also if you don't mind me asking, do you know how did the phone's pin got damaged?
I'm starting to thing you aint got a recovery at the moment. I've seen this type of thing before. Problem is, if you can't get odin to work you won't be able to solve it :/

I have no idea. I didn't fall or anything, it just stopped working one day. I thought it had to do with a "software" thing more than hardware, because I was using CM 10.1 and of course it wasn't official, it had bugs. I actually was trying to go back to CM10 to see if that was the problem but I got stuck here.
