[Q] App recommendation Podcasts - Nook Color General

Okay call me old fashioned but I really want a podcather for audio and some video podcasts that can be watched or listened to offline. I like to enter RSS feeds and have my catcher batch and then download episodes. I love gpodder, is there anything like it in android?
Features requested:
Update all feeds.
present new episodes for download from all podcasts.
batch download episodes and present them for playback offline.
Thanks for your help!
Mike

BeyondPod isn't too bad.

I use google listen works great for audio
Sent from my Nook Color

I also use Listen, works great and keeps track of what you have listened to which in turn syncs to all of your other devices.

Thanks for the recommendations listen is great, and the price can't be beat

Listen is nice but I think Doggcatcher is the best catcher out there.

Still looking for one that will let you pause the stream, go do something such as run in to the grocery store then come back and resume. Every one I've tried, including dogg catcher, restarts the stream. Any suggestions?

Video playback with subsonic.

Subsonic streams audio and video, using ffmpeg to covert video to flv and audio to mp3.
With flash support released yesterday I've been using subsonic to play both SD and HD movies on my xoom. The HD quality is obviously not as good as converting the video and playing with the native app, but it's still pretty good. If you are lazy like me and don't want to convert, it's perfect.
Visit subsonic.org to download the software that runs on your PC (or if you have a readynas there is an addon!). The software is free, but you need to donate any amount for the video streaming. Then grab the free app on the market and you're set!
*yay*

Subsonic kicks ass. It's definitely worth the donation if you get it set up properly.
for music subsinic is awesome. But for video I hate not being able to fast forward easily. Only gripe but still a fantastiv app!
you can fast forward by selecting which minute to start playback at... not perfect but works very well
Any way to play a video in a player and not a browser?

What music player do you use on your GNote?

I was wondering what do you use to play your music.

I use MixZing PlayerPro. Great interface, many options/customization, excellent equalizer, highly recommended!
For my video player I'm using MX Video Player Pro. Once again a great player which even plays subtitles and plays ANYTHING you throw at it, theres never been a video it cannot play.
It also makes use of dual core processors therefore playing 720p & 1080p content is silky smooth & crystal clear.
Hows mixzing at organising the music. Can you delete tracks while playing them, does it updates the metadata, album or track cover?

It's great. With regards to organization you can sort by artist, albums, songs, genres or playlists.
Best part about the player is the equalizer! Goes from 30hz to 16khz and even has a preamp!
When playing tracks you can:
Refresh Artwork
Add tp Playlist
Delete
Use as Ringtone
All by Artist
All on Album
Home
Settings
Help
You can also edit tags, share and even identify song.
I strongly recommend this app, there is a free basic edition but if you like it pay for the pro version...
I'm using PowerAMP, works great, as it did on my HTC Desire. I'm also using the free Klipsch app from the Market for headset control.
im using double twist. . its itunes for android. .
Ubermusic.
I was updating metadata of music in my phone and by mistake it changed the artist of all the songs to pussycat dolls

Does it do true gapless MP3s? I have allot of Floyd, which would be ruined if gaps or pops/clicks were heard between songs.
Some habits are hard to break.
I've been using WinAmp for over a decade, and will use it in 2012 for sure. EQ, play by folders, and Shoutcast are the main reasons. Here's to hoping that many of the great plug-ins make it to Android...
PowerAMP, like most people.
Im using a a music player called 3
Im looking for one that does not have any random audio skipping when I do something on the phone, PowerAMP skips a lot even if I have the audio thread at highest with 700ms buffering.
I installed mixzing n loving it...

Yeah, I think it's one of the best players...
I've tried every other player but stuck with MixZing...
Wow. None of you are using Google Music?
I guess that still might be US only. Damn it's amazing though.
I use playerpro, imho it's best

Mortplayer. It allows me to play by folder only. Doesnt rely on media scan. Works even if MS is disabled.
Haha, everyone has listed a different music player!
This is normal since different people like different players for reasons such as:
Looks/Interface
Functions/Ease of use
Options/customization
Audio/sound options/quality/equalizer
However, most audio apps mentioned above are highly recommended and have received excellent reviews.
I also love mixzing. it also have nice collection of widgets that allow to run it directly from desktop. the only thing I wish to add to it is the ability to control it from notification area ( like the stock player)
I use UberMusic. It's a Wp7-like Player. In my opinion it looks very nice, does't lag at all and has some usuable functionalities others haven't got

Share some good video apps

I thought would start this post since I didn't see one where people could some of there favorite video apps that don't come stock on the N7. Her is my list:
1. Netflix - pretty good app and greatest availability of streaming movies you will find from a monthly service.
2. Xfinity Player: Nice updates to the UI for 7 inch tablets and really good for catching up on old episodes of Spartacus.
3. Crunchyroll: The premiere app for watching animes that are subbed and best of all they have a free option that works over Wi-Fi. Doesn't work over Bluetooth tethering, but ICS built in Wi-Fi tethering is just fine if you don't mind the ads.
4. HomeDia: A nice free app that allows you to stream videos on your home network. I paired mine up with plex media server since you have to pay for tversity and it has worked well. If it doesn't play a video just use a third video player app like rockplayer.
5. Dailymotion: To be honest the only reason I use this app is to catch up with subbed anime episodes of OnePiece, outside of that nothing really else for me.
The good thing about these apps are they are free to download and numbers 1, 2, and 5 have apps for the Xbox 360. Well those are mine, so what are yours?

Crackle has some good free movies and tv shows. I also like to browse vimeo using the app, there are lots of cool videos on there.
If you like to watch current TV DROID TV Primetime actually works very well on the N7. There are quite a few free shows but for @$9 for three months you can get shows like Game of Thrones, Mad Men, Greys Anatomy, and dozens of others. I have used it for over a year on my DROID X and it sizes up really well to the 7inch for factor.

Are you doing this on a N7?
I had problems with it on my N7 in that I couldn't get it to lower/hide the info when the video was playing. Unless I am missing something .... On my phone it worked just fine.
UPDATE
Now if this isn't stupid on my part..... if you touch the video when it is playing, a icon shows on the bottom left to make it Full Screen... thought I had tried everything...

Thanks I didnt know that Crackle would work with the N7 unless I installed flash. So far it looks pretty good, I just dont like how the UI doesn't work that well in portrait mode. Hey that's what updates are for.

Google play music (all access)

So who's thinking about subscribing to all access and keeping the service?
I'm on the trail version now but I think I maybe keeping it. I really like that you could listen to any song or album and let it play completely all the way through it. The new ui is nice and all but I like the color to stay blue.
So what's on y'all mine?

I've been using Spotify Premium for over a year now, and I have to say that after trying Google Music the service is kind of disappointing. I mean, the service itself is great, but the UI, Apps and the fact that it's browser only is really really disappointing.
I used it for about 20 min and I just couldn't deal with it. Let me provide some details. If you're on your desktop with Spotify (Windows 7), you can hover over the Spotify tab and you will get backward, pause, and forward buttons on the live previews in Windows 7. This doesn't work in Music because it's a browser based app.
I also find the UI kind of hard to navigate through. It looks nice and all with the Google Now theme, but it's just not... intuitive IMO.
I really wanted to switch over, but it looks like I'm going to stick with Spotify for now.

Yes I'm talking about both versions. I've used the phone app and the Web app.
Also, I should note I don't own any actual music. I stream only/save on device.

I think its a good start. Yes it could be a little more intuitive but I don't have any real issues with it. I have been waiting for Google to release a music service as I have used Zune/Xbox Music when I had my windows phone and excited I can get the same service for cheaper on my Android now.
I was very excited about All Access after hearing about it this morning. I signed up for the trial but not sure if I will keep it. The biggest drawback for me is not being able to save an offline library on my phone. It looks like the phone has to be connected Internet and able to stream while playing. This is not practical because most people has capped data plans and not to mention we can't get reliable service everywhere. So anytime you are out of 3g area you won't be able to listen anything. I also have had Spotify since the launch and being able to keep offline list on three devices have been very nice. I hope to see a similar option on Google music otherwise I will stick to Spotify.

@ceroglu:
I think this should work, all you have to do is to click on "add to the library" and then on the needle symbol. Should work for specific songs, playlists and albums.

i use spotify on my phone and have always saved for offline. I want to switch to play music because i hate the spotify app and the lack of being able to sort by artist. i have remade most of my spotify playlists in play music and want to save for offline, but for some reason the download process is taking really long and keeps failing even though i am on wifi. its really annoying is anyone else having this problem?
edit: has been trying to download a single song for over an hour, really annoying because everything else is great besides this. i am going to try reinstalling to see if that helps
I think it gives the option to download for just one song (each song or album separate, not the entire library nor the list). Just to be clear, you guys are talking about the option that says 'keep on device'?

So is this more like spotify on Pandora ?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Ok, I haven't made a list yet but will try in few. Although one more thing that I wonder, if I have the song or the list on my device, does it still communicate with Google play music? I am just curious if I can listen in two devices at the same time from a downloaded list? I know it doesn't work while streaming. On Spotify I can just turn the offline MODE on and be able to listen in two devices independently. (good way to share the cost of the monthly fee, if you have a family in same household)

ive listened on both my computer and phone at the same time playing different songs and it works fine. i know when i did that with spotify it would stop the stream immediately unless you were offline but this is much easier
edit: nope, after about a minute it stops the stream. but it works great for a minute!
Ok.. the only thing I cant figure out.
Let's say I add an album to my library... How do I go about removing it via the app? I see every option but that

Thanks for the quick replies! I tried streaming from both computer and my phone earlier and it kicked me out from one multiple times. This doesn't happen right away but it happens after a minute or so. That's why I was wondering if having the song on the device could eliminate this problem.

Favorite podcast app?

I've gone back and forth between podcast addict and podcast republic... Both good choices. Podcast addict seems to have better sound quality... Might just be anecdotal though
What do you guys use?

Pocket Casts without a shadow of a doubt.

Pocket Casts, worth paying for.
Podcast Addict. I like it so much I paid for it.
BeyondPod Pro, also used Pocket Casts and liked that one as well.

Pocketcasts as well, use google music sometimes on my work phone but it lacks being able to skip by X amount of time (typically the opening ad), and I like to listen at 1.2X speed.
