My market always says starting download, But never actually starts. It HAS worked, and my connection is fine, but its really finicky.
Anyone else experiencing this?
//from the nook
Think lots of people see this behavior ... and actually it seems that while it looks like it's not DLing, it actually is ... try this ... click on an app you want ... the market will ask if you want to install, after you say OK it goes back to the market .. click again on the app you are DLing and watch for a minute .. it'll probably display that it is now DLing and it seems it really was all along. Also this is not 'repeatable' .. sometimes it behaves this way, other times it goes straight to DLing ... have this same behavior on my Froyo phone and a small android tablet.
I used to have this issue and HTC had no idea about it. Realised that if you have the low disk space icon showing in your notification bar, market will not download or update any applications until the issue of space is sorted.
Hope it helpa

Thanks for replying.
Nothing seems to be working. Pandora and jorte Have been starting to download for over 12 hours. My disk space is fine so that can't be the issue. I feel like its connection based in some way, but I have no evidence of that.

So I jumped on market help just now and this is a very common issue. The fix is just signing or resigning into to gTalk. Weird but it worked immediately after I defrosted and reboot.
//from the nook COLOR
Start downloading in the market only hang on my NC when there's a low on disk space notification even though there's 100MB left. When I clear some addition space, the downloading resume.
My NC was acting the same way last night. Marketplace downloads took forever and many times it would say "download paused". Dolphin HD and default browser were both super slow loading pages if they loaded them at all. I checked the Wireless and it seemed to be "cycling" between "Connected to the Internet" and "Connected, testing...." every 5 to 10 seconds. I managed to load Speedtest and my download rate was 50 Kbps or less. My Samsung Fascinate sitting right beside the NC was hitting close to 1Mbps on Speedtest over WiFi.
So I started backing out the apps I've installed, no change. Frustrated, I end up doing a hard reset to reload the system partition and deregister to clear everything else. So now I'm back to bone stock and it's 1:00 am, still NO CHANGE!! WiFi is still super slow to non-existent
Needless to say at this point I'm a tad irritated with the NC. I box NC up thinking it must have some type of wireless defect and plan on taking it back to Best Buy since I just bought it 3 days ago.
For some reason I decide to check out the Barnes and Noble website thinking it's a long shot they'd have any answers but what the heck. In the Support forum for the NC I found a thread talking about the NC having issues with WiFi when using WEP security. Not 100% of the time but sometimes. Oh my, I'm using WEP security on a DLink router!! (I know, not the best decision I've every made but certainly not the worst, the ex-wife holds that honor!!)
So I unbox and power up the NC, "Forget" the current wireless connection, turned off the wireless all together and power off the NC. I log into the router and change over to use WPA-PSK security. Power up the NC and turn the wireless back on. It finds the network and shows WPA-PSK security in use. I enter the key and it connects immediately. I open the default browser and poof the Barnes and Noble page loads quick!!!
It's now 2:00am and I'm re-rooting the NC and reinstalling apps. The Market Place and Dolphin HD are now responding like they should. The constant "cycling" between "Connected to the Internet" and "Connected, testing..." has stopped. The NC still cycles between the two but it's not nearly as often.
So I've learned: Don't work on the NC at 1:00am. You'll make rash decisions which will cost you a lot of unnecessary work later on. And, if you're having WiFi issues and using WEP try WPA-PSK instead.
Sorry for the long winded ramble, lack of sleep I guess.

Or just Mac address filter I have no password on my router but if the devices Mac address isn't on the list they can't even connect to the 192.168.2.1/192.168.1.1 router login stuff.
Not recommended unless you like setting stuff up because anything you plan to use have to be added to the list.

Off topic but it's really easy to spoof a mac address. Still use WPA if you care about security. I personally don't.

They can determine valid MACs for your network by simply monitoring the traffic and clone one that you've white-listed.
That's like locking your car door and leaving the windows rolled down.
It's still better than WEP, though.

Thats with anything tho, if a supa n3rd wants to come sniffer/brute force for hours for wifi they will get it.
But, Especially, since it was about the NOOK not liking WEP/WPA2 Mac address filtering is another option with which ive had no problems plus the no password hassle while still enjoying some security.
Crappy belkin routers never have problems with the NC tho WEP/WPA2 or not.

Sure, but it's a matter of the effort/reward ratio. MAC-cloning and WEP-cracking is trivial. It can be done in 1 minute. That requires no meaningful effort. Brute forcing for hours obviously requires a considerably greater effort and time expended.
You can see the difference, right?
They're going to go after the low-hanging fruit and then move on to more easy-pickings, not waste time hammering away at WPA2 for hours and hours.

I guess its all your set up, either its was the PSP or DS but I play soulsilver via wifi an one couldn't manage wpa2 and since wep is bad I'd rather not bother with a password.
Plus if my connection lags a second I look up the dhcp list hourly almost if torrent uploads fall below 250k. It still may be easy access but it would be a pain to get my "fruit"

So ever since I've gotten my Nexus One I've been noticing it drops out of a WiFi way too often. It does it both at home and at work on Wireless routers using the latest firmware. I've set the sleep policy to never go to sleep but most of the times I wake my phone up, I'll find it on 3G instead of the full strength WiFi it should be on. On 2.1 when I'd go into WiFi settings it would show the connection and say something along the lines of "Connection unsuccessful, tap to try again" and on 2.2 it just says "Disabled, Secured by blah blah blah". If I retry, it ALWAYS connects and WiFi will stay active for a short period of time before falling back to 3G.
Is there some way I can tell Android to retry the WiFi connection if it fails instead of just giving up? I've been looking through the WiFi API's on the Android Developer site and I'm this close to writing an application that will attempt to mitigate this issue for me.
If I'm within range of one of my pre configured networks, I want the phone to try it's hardest to stay on WiFi. If it loses connection, retry. It it can't get it after 5 retries, wait five minutes and try it again, don't just give up and mark the connection as disabled.
I've read tons of threads about people with WiFi issues and people always say "it's the router, it's the channel, etc, etc" but my WiFi works perfectly fine as long as there is a human to reconnect it if it drops.
Anyone else in the same boat as me?
ok so apparently I'm the only one with an N1 and a WiFi issue.......
I have the same exact issues.
I have the same issue as well and if it stays on I have to turn wifi off and back on so it will connect properly

same issue here. i had been looking for an app that would force the connectivity, but the market doesn't seem to have it. just a bunch of crappy wifi on/off switcher management apps. i'm surprised that no one has hacked this function or built an app for it.
It's certainly a very annoying problem. Mine will go to known good wifi networks, at work, at home and at other locations where my other devices work flawlessly. I have a coworker with the exact same firmware (we updated using the same file) on a nexus one that has never seen this problem, which I find odd, but I'm fairly new to Android. It looks like a software or driver issue to me, but as I said, I'm new to Android.
My device shows the known networks as "Disabled", but I can connect manually.
Looks like it's worth me coding up an App to fix this then.
what kernel are you using? i used to have that problem but that has gone away with newer kernels. unfortunately a new problem has arisen where after being in standby for a while, wifi shows as connected but doesn't have an outside ip. wondering if its my rogers modem or not.

Personally I wouldn't do any work towards writing an app to fix this since it looks to me to be an OS or driver issue that should be resolved in a future release (hopefully in very short order).
An app would really just be a band-aid, but I'm the lazy type and I can deal with using my cell ular data when I don't feel like reconnecting my wifi.
Full disclosure: I'm a crummy programmer and it takes me forever to write stuff so I'm usually less inclined to do it.

I'd rather take the time to fix it then wait for an update that may never arrive. Always fun digging into the API anyways
That's cool. I still find it a bit troubling, though, that some devices see it and some don't, using the same firmware, on the same wireless networks.
I guess it could be a board rev. difference or an app conflict or something. ::shrugs::
I have a similar problem. I use APNdroid to keep cellular data off and use wifi, but I continually have to reconnect wifi no matter what if I am not actively using it. Defeats the purpose of push email.
I downloaded APNdroid after checking data usage and finding that with wifi on there was still significant 3G leakage. Especially confusing with wifi set to never sleep and plugged in overnight.
On the plus side, APNdroid has netted me a lot more battery life, I can almost get two days and one night. I almost never use my spare battery anymore.
Just as an additional data point, I am having the exact same issue with 2.2 FRF83 (I had been on FRF50).
It looks to me like it is simply scanning all of the time and never associating with a known network. I'm not sure why it flags them as "Disabled", however.
Have you guys tried to set the "wi-fi sleep policy" to "never"
if not, try this:
Wifi settings->menu->advanced->wifi sleep policy->Never

Yeah, it doesn't help, that was one of the first things I tried. Any time I leave and come back, the networks show as "Disabled". It's a frustrating issue in that it isn't consistant. It's 80% fail, 20% work.
I had my g1 for a year now and just now got my n1. I havent rooted it b/c of this bug. At first i couldnt listen online radio b/c as soon the display went out it would buffer the whole time. I played with the wifi router and the n1 wifi settings an managed to fix it somehow, BUT when i wake up in the morning for some od reason it lost connection and never reconnected again. So i can hear online radio with the display out but after some hours w/o online radio and just in standby it loses wifi connection and never connects again
This issue is not new. There is a thread on the google forum many pages long. Nobody hase even a clue where it could come from. Some1 on the forum said if u call support they will tell its ur routers fault.
The n1 completly ignores the sleep policy settings.
I have rooted two g1s with goldcard and still using one w/o a problem.

Well, I know fore a fact it's not my access point. I am a network engineer and worked on wireless systems for years and debugging these types of problems is something I'm a bit obsessive about. This stinks of a software or driver problem to me. It could potentially be a hardware revision issue since we have a N1 that works perfectly in all scanerios.
I've tested this with the following access points:
Apple Airport Extreme
Apple Airport Express
Meru
Cisco 1231
Cisco 350
Belkin pre-n
Linksys WRT54G stock
Linksys WRT54G dd-wrt (I forget the build number)
Soekris Engineering running pfSense
All exhibit the same behavior, while my control devices (Apple iPhone 3g, Apple Macbook Pro and a MyTouch 3g running Cyanogen 2.1).
I wasn't aware that this was related to rooting, I'd be more than happy to move back to a stock ROM if that solved my problem. Maybe I'll try that today if I get some time.
Could you possibly post a link to the google forum you're referencing?
I'm currently digging through the alogcat output to see if there is anything interesting in there.
This issue is worse since I upgraded to 83. I'm actually holding off to try CM6 when it comes out to see if there is any better performance there. I'm not sure if he uses updated drivers or kernel that may give better wifi performance.
Anyone else's nook have really slow/sporadic wifi? Mine seems to burst, then come to a crawl and sometimes not do anything at all. The dropbox app is basically useless as it fails to download 99% of the time. The browsers are all slow too. I have wireless N and a 16Mbit connection at home so it's not my internet. My Evo downloads and runs 100x faster than my nook, on 3G.
I'm not having any issues.
None of those issues here on home wifi or tether to Evo. Dropbox is one of my newest fav programs and hasnt stopped an in progress DL once..
I am not seeing any sort of weird "slowness", but I will say that Opera Mobile is, **by far**, the best browser for this device in terms of performance.
yeah it does the same for me. reboot it. it works well on that for while, and sometimes turning wifi off, then back on will help.

Yes this happens to me, more often I would like and there are times when it just seems to stop but the wifi is at full bars (what ever they are called). I have noticed that when I check the wifi in the Nook settings the wifi will say "connected-testing", this means it is not connecting, it "sees" the signal but no data is being transfered, turning it on and off usually does the trick. When it says "connected to the internet", data is being transfered.
I too have ridiculously slow network connections. It is almost useless in some apps. But browser seems to be okay.
Can you guys that are having this issue post your Wifi settings and Router models perhaps there is a commonality on this,
Personally I have had no trouble out of mine, Using Wireless N, WPA2, off a Netgear WNDR 3400
I have been experiencing the slow wifi also. Downloading apps from Market is like 1KB/sec.
Running Nookie 0.6.7 from SD card (class 4). Using WPA2 AES.
I'm having slow wifi problems on a new Class 10 (supposedly) froyo install as well.
Not just wifi, too. It seems to go off to lala-land for a few seconds when I try to do much of anything. Scrolling and things like that still respond, but the apps themselves freeze.
Ok, so that is Two people using Froyo having the wifi problem? what rom are you other guys using?
I have not had this problem and I'm Running Rooted 1.1
Perhaps this is a issue with the Froyo build?
My nook was rooted on 1.0 and I'm running stock 2.1 android and I'm having the same problems
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
My nook's connection is unbearably slow on my home connection, which is wireless b/g with WPA PSK. If connect anywhere else (except for a Border yesterday) it does not have this problem.
Also have the "connection testing" problem. I am returning mine to Best Buy - will advise.
ROM 1.0.1 problem not as bad
ROM 1.1.0 problem unacceptable...
Both rooted...
Yes, it's definitely only a froyo issue with me. My rooted 1.1 stock rom is zip-zip-zippy.
I've tried froyo installs four times (both the std and mod versions) on a Class 4 and a Class 10 card. All had wifi issues and general sluggishness. And yet I see people saying froyo is quick. Hmmm....

This is a hardware problem. I had the identical symptom - tried all sorts of apps (softlocker, etc...)
Just returned by exchanging my NC at Best Buy and the problems are gone. I am at 1.1 with Monster Pack 0.7.
The offending NC serial no is 2010 110 0650xxxx
The good NC serial no is 2010 110 1509xxxx
So make sure the SN of the replacement unit is higher!
I've had this problem since the day I bought my nook.
A couple of things I've found...
1) The problem is with how the nook handles wifi. My college wifi is a piece of crap, and everything has problems connecting. Nook won't/can't establish a reliable connection.
2) I have no problems with wifi using DeeperBlue's HoneyComb. Hell, HC can get a better signal than my notebook. If I can get that to install market, I'll just run that off the sdcard. Battery life seems better there too.
3) If you get internet at B&N, then it's not a hardware problem. Every Nook of any kind has the same problems that i'm having.(on this network)
a couple of solutions I found.
1) Connectify. Nook doesn't really like it, but it works better than no intertubes.
2) Reboot the wifi. It works sometimes.
3) pray?
I've been having odd wifi problems with my NC, and I'm at my end with this.
My NC is stock, unrooted v.1.1. I can boot from one of two Nookie Froyo SD cards (one with an OC kernel, another vanilla).
Quite simply, the Android side will no longer connect to the internet, Marketplace, etc. The B&N stock side does just fine.
The Android side worked briefly -- out-of-the-box, I connected it to an open network and got on the Marketplace, whereupon it locked up on me. I put it away, and didn't pick it up until yesterday, at which time I found that no matter which SD card I used, there's nothing doing on wireless networking. While Android finds and connects to open or secured networks, I can't bring up a webpage, go to email, check the Market, you name it.
I don't think this is a hardware issue given that the Stock side can get online (albeit slowly at times). What the eff is going on with my Android side? Should I start over and build up *yet another* card? What can I do to diagnose and solve this?
I'm willing to return this NC, but I don't see the point if I'm somehow doing something to "break" the wireless connectivity in installing apps and pushing files and customizing the install (and whatever else) in creating my Nookie Froyo cards.
Any tips or suggested resources are greatly appreciated!
I had the same problem with Stock, Rooted with Autonooter, and Froyo boot from sd card. I changed the settings on my router to WEP security from AES and now have no problems with it.

Try loading dropbox.. how fast do the files dl? Have you tried tethering to a 3g phone to compare speeds or tested other networks? Are you just testing browser speed and have you tried Opera or Dolphin HD to compare?
Dropbox is REALLY slow and fails to download more often than it succeeds. Which sucks cause I am using it to save the apps that I want in case there's an update that wipes everything.
Dolphin HD is not bad, but still really slow. like 10 seconds for google.com to load.
I have an alternate market installed, and its good, but almost useless since It fails to download so often.
EDIT: oops, I do not have tethering on a 3g since I am not paying the rediculous 3g fees when I have wifi everywhere. I would literally never use the 3g.
And since you are required to get a data plan if you get an android, or any other smartphone, that is out of my reach.
I wonder if the cell companies realize that they are losing money this way?

Have you tested other networks? Is the wifi weak where you live? If yes to both swap the NC with another unit.. My 3g/wifi tethered connection is about 4 seconds to load google on the stock browser. Dropbox has never dropped a single app I have uploaded or DL's (awesome app btw!!).
Well, Im on a college campus, there are usually 4 or 5 APs visible on the same channel with the same name at any given time. iPhones work fine on it, iPod touches work well on it...
The nook registered with the network easier than any of the above devices, except that it drops connections/can't download/download speed is terrible.

Why not go to the same BN you bought the unit and test the wifi against the demo units? IF yours is considerable slower or the signal is weaker swap it as defective.

I think the worst-case is that the nook does not like the wifi here. That no nook would work well with this network. Linux doen't like the network either, it will keep randomly disconnecting and reconnecting. It makes me worry that I have a device that will basically have no internet until I leave college.
I have no problems with wifi on this device.
Using 6 mbit AT&T DSL Home Service, over wifi wireless-g, WRT54-GL flashed to Tomato 1.25. Both devices in the next room, in the same spot, downloading a 28.3 MB file.
Nook Color: 1m 1s
Evo 4G: 1m 8s
So, defective devices notwithstanding, there is nothing inherently wrong with the Nook's wifi performance at all.

Changing Channel on Router Solved: Once Slow Nook Wifi to Super Fast Nook Wifi
I just wanted to pass along the solution that worked for me:
I had a nook wifi and bought a new nook wifi/3g for my mom. Sometime after synching both of these, my nook wifi starting going in like super slow mo! So much, that it was almost useless to try to shop for new books. My favorite search is "0.00 <any topic>" to search for free books on a particular topic.
So, after googling for like ever, the fix I tried that worked was to change the channel on my router (linksys) from channel 6 to channel 11
Whallah, didn't have to reenter my credentials (I'm using wep security), everything just went from super slow mo to super fast again! Love my nook again!
yea im having issues too, but i dont think its with the nook color. i was using it stock rooted for a few days and it was pretty quick. recently put on froyo and now market is slow and so is browsing. going to try a higher class card and see if that helps. but ill have to look up other answers.
Ok guys. I am not sure what is going on here.
I can't connect to my schools wifi and it is becoming a royal PITA.
I can connect to wifi perfectly fine at home.
At school, they don't require any sort of "password" to access the network. (no wep or anything I mean) They do have one of those annoying/retarded portal login systems which seems to be coded to only care for laptops.... Actually I should say coded for a hand full of browsers ON the laptop.
I once or twice a week or so ago was able to actually access the login page either by entering it manually and being able to actually use wifi for a few minutes.. or by getting redirected.
I took the problem up with the help desk, they said we now have alimit of 4 wireless devices and my allowance was maxed.
Unlikely but, whatever..
So now over the last few days won't redirect me, it won't let me even enter the login address manually.. (before it wasn't a sure thing but, I could at least do it.)
I am rooted running cog 3.03. (Which does have the 2.2 update) Had the same problem on stock 2.1.
Goes without saying I'm rooted and willing to do what it takes to get wifi working here.. Even if I did happen to have unlimited data.. my school is pretty Iphone heavy... especially at lunch, And some days I am just happy to receive the occassional text I can get from my girlfriend.
But, fact is I don't have unlimited data.. I have extremely limited data.
If anyone has a solution, I would appreciate it.
Tried:
Wifi fixer in market.
Rebooting.
"forgetting" then reconnecting. (a million times).

Any chance you need to enter a proxy server?
I have never needed to enter a proxy server before with any other device.
And I have never found anything suggesting I would anywhere on the school website.

You might ask around about it. The browser is probably set to auto detect a proxy. You don't have that on the phone.
Although, you do indicate you actually did connect for a bit a while back, so it likely isn't the proxy.
Sorry. Don't know what else to offer.
I appreciate the effort, unfortunately my school didn't resolve the issue either so I am unsure what to do..
You might be on to something with the proxy...
No telling how the looney's set this stuff up...
Do you have the login page in your favorites? And does the device connect to the wireless "hotspot"?
I'd test it at a starbucks (or mcdonalds of all places have them too) and see if the issue repeats itself. The ATT hotspot requires you accept the agreement before it allows you to browse.
If it doesn't work.. I'd go back to stock and see if you continue having the same issues. If the issues are resolved when going back to stock - then you'd need to bug DG for a possible fix with his ROM as that is possibly where the problem lies.
Yes it does happen to connect at other places.
I can get it working at home no problem.
I have the url memorized at this point to log in..
Part of the reason i rooted was one or two people said it cleared whatever wifi problems they wre having up..
Infact I would agree with that more than anything..
Although it didn't fix my problems, I have been able to do a bit more..
I hate with a passion bumping my own thread.. but, if anyone can help.. I would appreciate it.
i think your issue might not be your phone but your school unfortunately... when you are there to connect, are there a lot of others there as well?? for example, where i am at, they have their access points set up and i can select it with my phone, but sometimes i get on and sometimes i dont.. the issue is that they limit the amount of connected users and it might show that you are connected, but you don't in fact have access.. does this sound about like what you are having??
a test (and this will suck) is to let it connect and if it isnt connected, sit there for a while and watch as people leave and see if you connect.. usually they slot peeps in order as they log in via their IP.. so depending on how many users are not able to connect, you might not be the first to get on.. this sux and i know.. it happens here all the time and some times i have drained my laptop battery sitting there trying to connect.. now that i have my phone, 1 or the other will connect first
hope it helps a little.. but like said.. good chance its not your phone .. if it is your phone.. i am not really sure what else to think of at the moment..

This continued 'dropping and reconnecting' to my WPA/2 has been driving me nuts and I found the holy grail for my problem to share.
During the course of troubleshooting I:
1. updated router firmware
2. changed security from wep to wpa to wpa2
3. hard coded the nook mac address to enabled, even though there was no block setup.....
4. YadaYada.... pullin my frickin hair out then the moment of calrity
When I observed 'connected devices to my wireless I noticed that all other devices in da house had typical host names like laptop1, server1 whatever and the host name for the nook when attempting to connect was, and I quote
'android-873iurhfier98734598'
or in other words a dash with a huge random number/letter sequence that showed up as funky 'alien' ascii characters to the router.
So the fix was:
goto settings
goto applications
goto development
goto device hostname
dropdown to edit and backspace(erase) the dash-----bull****
I ended up with a host name of android
went back to wifi settings, forgot and reconnected and BAM
Done deal.
Hope this helps some of you who are having wifi problems.......
I believe this is related to certain wireless routers being unable to translate the characters into something other then gibberish ascii characters it believes its seeing????
whatever I dont care anymore....
didnt fix it for me....

Hmmmm,
I have a belkin N1 wireless router and did update to the latest firmware. I did change several settings during the course of getting my issue resolved as follows:
Radio = 11g
Bandwidth = 20Mhz+40Mhz-auto
QOS = OFF
Authentication = WPA-PSK+WPA2-PSK
Encryption = TKIP+AES
obscure PSK = OFF
hopefully these will help..............

I had issues with cm7.0.2/3 stables and phiremod 6.2, .29 kernels until I stumbled on my fix. However this also works well for me with the 2.6.32, beta 3.1.
FYI, I have been running all of these off SD, my emmc is 1.01 rooted and very stable.
Dude, you are a lifesaver. I've been running into this problem frequently and it's sort of a kiss of death for WiFi when it happens and I have to re-do the whole CM7 SD Card. It's working perfectly now though after I just had a card fixed pretty much perfectly.
Thanks for posting this...
I didn't have any connection-disconnection type WiFi problems, but I went ahead and shortened the name to just android. What it fixed for me is the YouTube on Phiremod 6.3. Previously, any clip would stop with an error message. The progress bar of loading the clip ahead of the video playback was moving slowly at the beginning, but then jumping to the very end, and when the playback was at the "jumping point", it was giving me an error. Now, after this "fix", the bar moves along slowly all the way to the end, and video never stops with an error. Even if the playback catches up with the bar, it just pauses and waits for more to be loaded (mainly for HQ clips, occasionally).
Thanks again for this "unexpected" YouTube fix
FYI, I'm no longer able to get WiFi on the 108 Nightly. I tried this sequence again and haven't had any luck. Looks like a full wipe/install again.
EDIT: Just turned off the "Network Notification" and it's working fine again. Strange, but it keeps me from having to wipe AND my WiFi is working again. I hope that helps someone else.
Well since everyone is posting what worked for them, I figure I might as well too
I started getting this problem yesterday, never had it in the week up till then.
Problem started when I changed did a factory reset on my Belkin router (yes I know Belkin sucks) and changed the security to WEP (I know, I know, WEP sucks too) so that we could connect to XBox Live with an ancient xbox receiver thing (xbox was hardwired in our old apartment, and I'm not buying a new xbox just for freaking built in wifi it should have had in the first place lol).
Enough in the way of background. Suffice to say, I was having the wifi drop issue on my nook, but the xbox, wii, and two laptops were fine.
Last night I tried flashing back to stable CM7, n108, n106, and n85. No go. Also tried the honeycomb port from SDK 11. No go.
I changed the device name in applications -> development to "android" and turned off notifications when there was an available wifi hotspot. Still no go.
Changed about every wifi my POS Belkin had, still didn't work.
I flashed back to stock 1.2 with no root and no CWM, and wifi was still turning on and off.
I did two things since then and one of two things fixed it; not 100% sure which.
1. This morning I downloaded the software for my router from Belkin and reloaded it. Before I could test it, I had to rush off to work.
2. At work I rerooted, reinstalled CWM, and loaded n110, and when I got home IT WORKED!
Seems most likely to me that reloading the router software is what did it, although it may be n110 that did it.
So anyway, for everyone who is as desperate as I was last night, here's two more things to try.
Here was my fix to my issues

I'm not sure if this has been meantioned or not.......I have NO problems when tethering from my phone. Its only when connected to my router. Also I ran a couple of shows from Netflix to see if it would hold a connection from the router. Both shows ran perfect. But as soon as I tried searching on the browser it stopped working. I can then at that point wait it out or disconnect and reconnect. But again it works flawlessly tethering from my tbolt using wireless tether.

I can say this forum helped tremendously. Editing the Nook hostname fixed my WIFI issues. I have a Linksys WRT610N V1 with WPA2-Personal TKIP/ASIP with no issues now. All I did was make this change... Excellent connectivity now.
This is THE most frustrating issue that remains (for me) using the NC . I've tried most everything here at home to get a stable continuous connection, and end up failing.
Took it into work yesterday & sniffed out an open wifi WAP there, showed only one bar, yet it connected & played Netflix,Pandora, etc flawlessly.
well, just now reset my router (TP-Link wr1043N) & upgraded it's FW, and it is now allowing Netflix streaming. Holding breath, fingers crossed, etc

Well at least you know it's a router issue, hopefully you'll have the same experience as me, perfect connectivity ever since the firmware reload here.

agreed. NC is charging now, but hoping that this issue is over for good. Thanks for the idea to look at the FW as a solution
Strange. I was using build 120 with my router with no issues, then after a few days it stopped working and would not reconnect even after a reboot. Forgetting the connection and recreating it didn't work either. However making the connection not use AES worked.
