Captivate doesn't have front cam.. So, video calls would not work!!!!

i have a samsung impression that doesnt have a face front camera but has the video call...so the front facing camera shouldnt be an issue...i dont see why it couldnt be directed to the other camera instead of the front facing one....I have faith in the great minds that are on here....

true but weird

It would just be weird facing the back and occasionally looking at the screen to look at the other person

i agree....but the thing is with the att video share is it is at the momemt just one way..(until they get 4g working in someparts of the country in april)...u dont get to see the other person...but it would be great if u wanted to share the moment live,,,(party, shopping, kids awards assembly, or to significant other that u are where u say u are!!!....rofl....rofl)

Video calling on Tilt

Hi hi,
I have Tilt with Dutty's latest ROM & I'm on a network (Vodafone NZ) where video calling is available.
I understand Tilt doesn't have front camera, so am wondering if the back camera can be used to send video ?
There's an option in 'Menu'->'Video Call options'->'Flip the 2nd Camera Video' , and I had this checked, but it still won't allow me to use the back camera. Is it the correct option to use the back camera? any registry tweak required?
Any helps/suggestions are appreciated
Thanks in advance
I dont believe it is possible

He is in New Zealand where it is supported. I remember reading that it can be done on a Tilt somewhere but I can't recall where. I could be mistaken but I will try and remember.

Quick GPS is a program designed to download to your device the positions of satellites so your GPS programs will be able to get faster locks. That's all it does is download satellite information.
There is no YouTube tab.
Video calls only work if your carrier supports it. If you live anywhere other than Europe, then video calls will not work.

Video calling does work. It only works if your carrier supports the feature. It is not dependent on the ROM.

Ok, you don't seem to understand my explanations, so I'm going to spell it out clearly.
US carriers do not support video calling on the Touch Pro2. It is supported in Europe based on the carrier there. That's why only the European models have a front facing camera.

I'm not trying to be rude to you or anything, but you are not getting this. US carriers do not support video calling on this device. Video calling is supported on some Android devices and the iPhone. That's it. There is no carrier outside of Europe that will allow you to video chat on a Rhodium. US carriers enable the option on a phone by phone basis. Considering the plethora of new devices coming out, and the fact that most carriers have discontinued support, or in process of discontinuing support for the Touch Pro2, it is highly unlikely that they will ever enable this feature. The devices shipped here without the front-facing camera or official software to allow video calling. To get video calling to work, they would not only have to enable support for this device, but also issue official software updates to allow for the video calls to be enabled on the dialer. As it is now, the only way to even have that option is to use a custom ROM, but it won't work unless the carrier allows it, which none of them will ever do for this device.
The point is that if video calling is important to you, then you should think about moving to a different device. T-Mobile has a bunch of nice new phones that are out right now which feature video calling. The Rhodium will never have support for video calling in the US.

no not yet.. still looking out for it .. seriously i want to know why the hell we cant make native video calls.. what's the problem ... ?
okk now its too much annoying that spice mi 350 supports video calling... dealer confirmed that its possible to make native over the telephony video calls jst like nokia and other phones over cheaper 3g calling rates /// seriously its very cheap to make video call in india might be only 0.006 $ per minute if i convert it with exchange rates <.30 paisa> damm... it is cheap .... i seriously needed an android which have video calling bt damm one more time .. its now a dual sim phone too... ahh i purchased mi 410 too early ..
is it a feature in MIUI?
this feature is not in mi 410 whether miui or any else... its not there
Thats very strange! even basic level phones have it.. if I remember correctly, spice had mentioned 'video calling' as a feature on this mobile
yaa and even old nokia n series could make video calls ... nd naa spice mentioned this feature for mi 350 not for mi 410 bt seriously some one a developer should work to add the ip native video calls
There are 2 types of videocalls.
1) VoIP videocalls (Skype, iPhone etc.)
2) 3G/UMTS based videocalls (most 3G/UMTS phones, Windows Mobile phones, Symbian phones, Galaxy S etc.)
Type (1) can be implemented by simple apps.
We are asking for native UMTS videocalls support (2). Galaxy S does support them, but the mainstream Android does not.
This issue is reported here.I suggest we contribute

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14391485
i had a chat with tj_style few months back about this issue, he said that its very hard to implement 3g 324m protocol as there is few almost no source
but if we get source of mi 350 and if its made by foxconn then there is possibility that we can get 3g video calling
and i think mi 350 does not have 3g video calling option in dialer, correct me if i am wrong

hi
dont know about the above but skype video call verymuch works on the mi410 iv used it a few times
From my SpiceMi410 via XDA Premium
Yes you are wrong my friend. Video calls through dialer are there in Spice MI-350 and it means through your network provider on UMTS i.e. GSM 2100. Video calls through Skype though are not reported positively. That is because MT6573 ARM V6 chips/boards are not yet supported by Skype. But Nimbuz Fring and Tango are working.
Feel free to hit thanks.
Anybody needs assistance in rooting or any other query about Spice MI-350 2.3.5 can ask questions.
Dialer supports video call. I regularly make video calls . If yours is not supporting please post a screenshot of the dialer. I will help.
Feel free to hit thanks so that I can post more often otherwise XDA is not permitting. :-X
I think only Samsung Phone support video call over 3g out of the box now,i might be wrong though
^ Yes you are wrong buddy. The ideos x6 is sold by spice mobiles in India with the name mi 410 The lower model in the spice series available in India is the phone mi350 which has native video calling facility and it do work very well

[Q] Video call option not available

Hi Experts,

Thanks for the reply,
Am in froyo. BUt i didnt understand what you mean by 'using google plus'. Tethering i resolved by using the second method mentioned in
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1252149
I think is lame that you would have to login into Google+ just to use video calls.... I just use Skype
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda premium
Ya I think that's the only video calling we get with this phone is google+ or third party apps like skype ill have to lookin to it
What abt the normal video call option using 3G network?
I was able to do that with my Galaxy S without any issue.
Anyone ever tried video calling in Thrill 4G.
See I think samsung bakes that in to there roms we don't have such a thing on thrill

MMS Video Issues

Hey guys I'm on t-mobile and I've been having issues with sending video via mms and just want to know if this is normal. My sister texted me a video from her iPhone 6 the other day and it looked horrible. Very small and very blurry. She sent the same video to another family member (also iphone) and it looked great. I don't remember that happening with my Note 4, so I had my other sister with a a note 4 send me a video and it was also tiny and blurry when I got it via text. Turns out video I send them is also tiny and blurry but they can send each other video and it looks fine. I thought maybe it was because they're on Verizon, so I send my friend who is on t-mobile with an s5 a 5 second video and it's the same thing... Blurry and very small. I sent it to myself and it's fine. I know MMS is limited, but why can other people send short video and it's fine but when I send or receive it looks horrific? I don't think this happened on my Note 4. I know there are other ways to send video I'm just wondering why it seems to work fine for other people.
Edit: BTW I'm using Google messenger (tried it with stock Samsung app but no change) and instead of showing a thumbnail of the video that I have received, it's just a grey box with a play button in the middle. I've tried downloading them before playing them and it looks the same (horrible). I have made sure that it is set to automatically retrieve mms. Can't figure this one out.
