Theme-Porter [v1.0] [Any Firmware / Rom Compatible] [WINDOWS]

Heres a script that ports your themes from firmware to firmware, rom to rom.
How it works:
- Looks through app/framework folder for apks that exist in new/old rom
- Then extracts pngs from those apks
- Then deletes mismatching pngs
- Repacks old themes pngs into new rom
- Done
Note: Benefit of this method is that you could literally port a donut theme to a froyo rom because it only copies images that exist in the new rom, and none that don't.
Betas are spread out through-out the thread (they provide a lot more features)
Instructions:
- Download zip
- Extract zip
- Place old framework/app in old folder (Rom that has the theme)
- Place new framework/app in new folder (Rom u want to port it to)
- Run batch script
- The new folder is now themed
Requirements: Windows environment
Improvements:
- Dependant on demand for this script.
NOTE: For now u can only transfer themes from 2.0+ to 2.0+ roms and pre 2.0 to pre 2.0 roms. Big reason is because of the mdpi folders whereas before there was only one. Will implement it as soon as possible.
Beta 3 Download - http://www.multiupload.com/62I7MXV620
amazing concept... and most likely awesome work like your others.. keep them coming!
definitely gonna give this a try .....
thanks
has anyone actually tried this?
I would try it myself but i don't have the time atm.
Had a minor hiccup in my script , fixed/uploaded.

I just tested this script by doing the following :
1. adb pulled /system/app and /system/framework from my phone into the old folder
2. place cm6 into new folder
3. Ran script
4. Pushed files to phone and it works perfectly
Sorry. I'm relatively new to this, so how do I get the framework/app?

Well u can either extract app/framework from ur theme's update.zip or pull it from ur phone by doing
adb pull /system/app <drag app folder from theme-porter folder here>
adb pull /system/framework <drag framework folder from theme-porter folder here>
HOLY SHIZEN!
now if u can possibly implement the transformation of HDPI to MDPI id pay u at least 20-30 bucks for that..
in the interim..thank u very much for your contribution!

Hmm interesting idea. Certainly possible, however not all images are to be resized equally, some more than others. I'll look into it, can't promise though
Edit: Very hard to do, basically u'll have to have a list of image filenames where each must be noted as to what resolution they must be on a mdpi device.
im sort of new to this. i have a question.
will this work if im using an update.zip theme in the old folder
and a clean rom in the new folder?
ex.
i wanna port the Elegance Theme for SuperD for Dream
to
SuperE for Dream.
and another question.
if this is how it will work
can i then create an update.zip out of what comes from the new folder?

As i said i'll improve it if ppl find this script to be useful, i'll base it on # of downloads lol
For now u'll have to extract the framework and app folder from elegance theme for dream into old folder and extract framework and app folder from super e to new folder. Then run script, once done ur new folder's stuff will be themed.
do i have to then push the files from the new folder over or can i use your create update.zip script and flash the new themed apps and framework?

Yes u can do that or u can just push the files. Yea an update to this will prolly have an option to make the new folder into an update.zip.
thanks man. the combinations of these 2 scripts will help me to make a rom how i want it.
great work. keep it up

Ok so the # of downloads have reached my defintion of *in demand*
So these are the changes im thinkin of bringing, feel free to make suggestions.
- Make the "new folder" into an update.zip once the script has run through its paces
- Have an option to pull app/framework directly from ur phone
Those are the only 2 i can see as being useful, if anymore let me know.
crossing platforms doesnt work.
tried to move the celadon theme for CM 5.0.7 (which is android 2.1)
to SuperD 1.11 (which is android 1.6)
i also tried transfering Elegance for SuperD 1.11
to SuperE 1.0.3
the fonts transfered. nothing else did.
but i did successfully transfer the celadon theme for CM 5.0.7
to SuperE 1.0.3

QVGA (Tattoo etc) http://www.mediafire.com/?udy82m979e8iket
(This is not a flashable .zip you have to push it through adb or use root explorer for now)
heres a wallpaper to go with it :
Enjoy!
Pffft !
I might have to re-jig that to QVGA
yea cool if u gimme your res i can do it or you do it either way i dont mind
gotta have it. what phone/s is/are it for?
Wanna port it to the G1?!
Yea sure guys. I'll do some research and find out what the res is for all other phones and post them up today. Its designed on a htc desire so will also work perfect on a nexus.
Droped a HVGA one in there just tryna find out what the res is for the rest.
QVGA up too.
I flashed this on my G1 running SuperBad and it didn't work. It said it didn't have the right signatures.

It's not a flashable .zip It's just the bootanimation.zip
I dont know how to make a flashable .zip I just push it through adb :
(in recovery)
adb shell mount /system
adb push bootanimation.zip /system/customize/resource/
adb reboot
Im on android 2.2 The file system might be different on other versions of android so it may not work. Check first.
I also got it working on my samsung spica (android 2.1) by putting the file on my sd card. using root explorer, mount r/w then copy the file and paste it to system/media overwriting the bootanimation.zip thats already there.
wow that makes a lot more sense, i don't know why i assumed i could just flash it
Could you please post a mirror for the QVGA version? Link is not working. Thanks a lot.
Thanks for this mate, I had also been looking to re-etch my the htc letters to thc on the back of my nexus. But it'd be hard not to **** that up, knowing my luck
Anyway, impressive bootloader mate!

And yes, it is a brilliant animation
Here's the file, if anyone wants to download
push it to /data/local/ and it should work
could anyone tell me what i have to do to make my phone have this boot animation?? its not a install zip ..
thnx anyway!
as mentioned above try push it in /data/local/
or just copy it there, via root explorer or any similar manager
found it thank you anyway !
its like this: adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local/bootanimation.zip
Thank you!
I really love the looks of this one! It's really fancy! and suits this monster phone.
Thanks so much
Very nice. Thanks.
This is so much better than the default! Why didn't they include this.

you can drop the filename after /data/local/ as long as you want the same name.
And then you can test it by typing adb shell bootanimation
I just love it, thank you
Very nice indeed.
Sent from my arc or optimus 2x using tapatalk
thank you for that, will try
I placed my bootanimation in system/media. (It worked too btw.)
And btw, best bootanimation ever for the Optimus 2X.

[Q] Port Gingerbread Animations to CyanogenMod 7

Hey Guys,
I have been running CyanogenMod 7 on my Milestone for a while now, and I love it! But I do think it could do with a little bit more of eye candy. So I was wondering, is there anyway to port the gingerbread window animations to CyanogenMod?
I have tried a few Metamorph tricks, but wasn't successful. I also heard about an app called AnimMod which is supposed to do this, but I cant try it out as I am not allowed to buy paid apps in my country. So, I would be glad if anyone posted a link to a working procedure for changing the window animations.
All windows animations are in the framework-res.apk under the res/anim folder.
You can replace those with the GB animation files and apply again. Please note that you need to replace only those that are there in both the framework files.
[email protected]
Thanks for the answer.
Where can I find the gingerbread animation files? I dont have the gingerbread ROM, so would it be possible to download the files from some place.
Also, I am curious to know, why weren't these animations implemented in the CyanogenMod in the first place. I would have thought most people would appreciate the better animations of Gingerbread.
Edit: I just watched a walkthrough, and it seems that the animations in CyanogenMod are the same as those in Gingerbread. Still, it would be nice to know where I can find some new animation files
Wow I forgot that I put this together.
I named it FlyIn_FlipOut because I combined the Flying animation with the Flip Animation.
I actually spent alot of time on it pinpointing specific things which was a pain in the ass.
Anyway, it's attached.
I hope that somebody thinks that it's neat
I have attached the animation xml files for the following animation effects.
Flip
Fold
Flying
Bounce
Blur
FroyoMOD ( animations found in Luca's FroyoMOD )
All you need to do is to copy it into the folder that i mentioned in the previous post and apply it again.
Thanks Guys.
I need some more info on how to do this thing properly:
1. Where is the framework-res.apk located? I found one in the system/ framework folder but it is named as framerwork-res-mot.apk.
2. How do i change the files? and finally how do i install the apk.
In short, it would be great if you could post the steps to modify CyanogenMod to incorporate the new animations.
@zeppelinrox: Good thing you came across this post then.
Anim mod is an easy way, i use it all the time
note\ require root and busy box installed
Goodluck
Good app. Does what I wanted.
I wud still like to try out zeppelinrox's version of the animation. So could someone pls post how I could do that.

Download the theme updater flashable template zip file from here.
Download and extract the contents of the zip file provided by Zeppe to your desktop.
Your framework-res.apk is in your /system/framework folder. Using 7zip or winzip, open framework-res.apk and replace the animation files in the /res/anim folder.
Copy the framework-res.apk into the /system/framework folder of the theme updater template zip file. Copy the template zip file into openrecovery/updates folder and apply in AOR after wiping dalvik/cache.

Thanks, but you have not removed the app link.
Regarding screen on/off animation, not possible. Its a feature of GB and not easy to port to froyo.

[BootAnim] ICS Bootanimation Reworked!

So I reworked the default ICS bootanimation. I always found it really washed out and just seemed to me like a recording of the actual animation. So I decided to up the contrast and vibrance of it.
Here's the comparison video, you'll want to try and view it in 720p to notice the difference easily.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgGKqGLiPmk
I'll probably add gif previews soon.
To install, you'll want to move "bootanimation.zip" that you have downloaded to:
Code:
/system/media/
>Download<
Hey, if you like it, throw me a thanks
I love this animation and have used it as my most common boot animation since it was first leaked, however you're reworked versions doesn't seem to work on my Droid X2. Is the resolution too high for me to use it, maybe?
There was a problem with the zip compression that meant some devices couldn't get it working. It's been fixed now.
Works great now. Love the more vivid colors!!!
Contrast and vibrance really nice! Love it
Greeting with Galaxy Note N7000
Unfortunately, this Note booting so fast that I can enjoy only couple of second. Will try later at night for my Tab 7.7
Thanks here and thanks at the button.
Looking very good om my Sensation XE.
I placed bootanimation.zip in /data/local/ because im running ARHD ICS.

Thanks! Looks great on my GNexus. I thought the same thing when i first saw the animation live on my phone - I didn't think to modify it, so I'm a little mad that I should have.
Can the .png's resized and used on a HVGA Screen?
