Car Mount for Flipside - Flipside Accessories

Head on over to the perfect car mount thread in the Captivate area to see how to make a car mount for your Flipside.
I used the Nuvi 205 mount to make one for my phone which has the Bodyglove case on it. If you don't want to heat the plastic with an open flame you put some clean sand (or salt) in an old pan and heat it on your stove. I mostly bent the narrower side. The mount is nice and snug and I use it almost every day.

WOW - my post is very lonely in the new accessory section!
Here's another pic.

Wow I thought I was never going to be able to mount my phone in my car!!
Thanks, man!

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about a magnet sensor on the phone ala the bravo or the OG droid?

Sweet car mount

Hey guys, I found this in the Droid 3 section. This mount seems pretty sick. I may just cave and buy it. Up to now I have kept modifying my car mount from my original droid. I made it work for my d2, and now (kinda..) my bionic. But it is not as secure anymore.
This looks nice!
That actually does look sweet! I wonder how it holds up and how long the suction holds.

It looks sweet. The only problem I see is the clip looks wide. Going off the dimensions of the iPhone 4 it looks to be about 1 1/8 inch wide. If you clip it on the side you will have to cover the charging port or volume down button since there is only about an inch of room there. It says it can accommodate up to a a 5" screen so you might be able to clip it top to bottom. I might still go ahead and get it and mod it if I have to. Good find.
If you are going to spend that much money on some generic piece of junk why would you not just buy the one that is made by Motorola for the phone?? http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/...ryDetails&archetypeId=12747&accessoryId=47728
Then there's the clingo.

Why do you call those docks "junk"
Perhaps, people don't want to buy device specific car docks every time they get a new device.
Does look pretty nice, the only thing I see is that it would take both hands at an awkward angle to to squeeze the back then mount the phone...instead of just placing the phone in the cradle with the oem dock.

+1 - While these two docks aren't my cup of tea, doesn't mean they wont suit someone else's needs!
Get the moto branded bionic dock and never plug/unplug another cable.

This looks great for someone who has a family that might not all have the same smartphone. I'd much rather have this in my two cars so that it doesn't matter which car I drive, I can still mount my Bionic and my wife can mount her Droid 3.
I just got this one yesterday. Gotta say, I'm pretty dissapointed. Jiggles around quite a bit, even though it's locked down tight. The suction cup mount holds very well though.

This is awesome. I wonder how dependable it is? I need something that I can depend on for my motorcycle. Do you think it would work if I have a Body Glose case with the swivel clip? (Obviously just the nub would be on the phone, not the whole clip)
The one Made by Motorola for the Driod Bionic, only cost 10$ more. Plus to charges the phone, and activates the Dock App.
The on in the OP looks like a Giant clothes pin with a suction cup attached to it. It would come in handy for phones that dont have car mount made for them.

I don't know but I know they use this sticky technology in things like clean room door mats to take dirt off your shoes for entering a sterile environment. The sticky never runs out, you just wipe it with a damp cloth. As far as on a motorcycle...well I won't make any guarantees.
I've used the Arkon Mobile Grip with my Sensation and it works great, I've recommended it to others on xda and elsewhere and they've been happy with it.
I've tested it with the Infuse and it fits with room to spare, so it'll work with the Bionic.
I have the motorola car mount and it recently started to mess up (the car charger chord doesn't fully connect to the car mount thus no charging unless directly connected to bionic) this one looks nice I'm going to buy...FYI its on Amazon for under 20
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
I have to say, these are pretty bad ass universal docks... Why go device specific.. I understand that its just the same price, but the Bionic for some of us isn't the first phone we'd mount in our car... So its actually a savings... Plus, the cardock app isn't GREAT, the google car home is universal...
I went with the Clingo
before this I used the Universal VZW vent mount and the DroidX Car Mount... Both IMO sucked and Bulky-
This has to be the Simplest Dock ever-

U can search on amazon to bring it right up. I was wondering if anyone has used it.
Ideally I would prefer a CD mount, but the only one I have come across so is from mountek and it seems like the nexus7 about. 5 inches too wide =/
Any suggestions? Thanks

Looks ok, but vent mounts scare the bajesus outta me lol. There was a few CD mounts that looked promising but I would actually spring 50 bux for the dash mount that hangs over the dash over the radio.

I have a vent mount for my SGS3.
My observations are, it makes the vent face down because of the phone's weight and it blocks the vent. The phone gets cold in it's back because of the AC.
Now multiply that with the size/weight of the N7, and wonder if windshield sun/heat and cold AC fan combined wouldn't cause some sort of moisture condensation..
I've been using a vent mount for over a year for my EVO without any issues, but I wouldn't want the weight of a tablet hanging on a thin piece of plastic.

Anybody here try this(or something similar)?

I was looking at this, and seems like a better solution than leaving my tablet on my passenger seat while i play music over bluetooth.

I personally think the arms are too flimsy and easily breakable. The next best non-windshield one is by Exomount but that's a whopping $50 and it's bulky. I'm waiting for a decent CD slot mount from Mountek (heard they were gonna make one).

I've had cd mounts. To me, they aren't the most reliable thing to put your coveted N7 on lol...but the ones that are coming out I have yet to see.
The arkon can be a dash-w/ help from a dash disk or windshield mount. So it's the best of both worlds IMO. I interchange my Arkon phone mount and now the tablet mount when I want to switch on the torque app
Yeah I was thinking of doing that with the Arkon but wouldn't the sun eventually kill the adhesive on the dash disc?
I had this Arkon floor mount put in my truck for my old Galaxy Tab:
http://www.arkon.com/tablet-accessories/universal-tablet-car-mount.html
It was pretty easy to install; it's a bit more permanent than a dash or window mount, but it can be taken out in just a few minutes. It also comfortably holds my iPod or N7 and it keeps it out of the way but still easily viewable/accessible.

I live in Texas. The adhesive sticks great big time. You'll have issues of the plastic warping first before the adhesive gives out, if it does.

Wall / Fridge mount for Nexus 7

I'm looking for a way to attach the Nexus 7 to my fridge or to my kitchen wall, to be used with cooking apps, kitchen timers, etc, without taking up precious counter space.
I found a product called Hedgie:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HEDGIE-Univ...905?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item43b2aaadd9
But $17 for a piece of Velcro seems exaggerated. Anyone know of a better solution?
Get the cheapest TPU case you can buy and attach adessive velcro on the back and on the fridge. Easy as pie.
Or... you can buy a sheet of magnet plastic and glue it to the case and then you don't have to glue anything to your fridge.
I agree with the above post. I always buy a few tpu cases to use for special projects around the house. One word of advice though... Before you adhere a magnet to the Nexus 7 make sure you know where the auto off-on feature is located. If you accidentally glue a magnet under it it will effect you nexus 7 turning on and off.

If you have a glass splashback, you could use a car mount and attach it to the glass. Just tried this with my exomount and Galaxy Nexus, assume it would work the same with the N7.

That should work well on the undersides of cupboards and large enough tiles too, depending their surface. I'd say a car mount would the best idea.

If you have an old 20GB hard drive lying around, the magnets in the old 3.5" drives are really strong.
You might want to try what I did with my phone, to attach it to the bottom of my monitor when I'm at my desk.
Take the magnet and the piece of metal that it's attached to and bluetack this to your fridge. Then cut the bottom flat piece out of a tin can and bluetack this to the inside of the Nexus's back cover (I am guessing that there is a suitable flat area).
If you want it attached for the long term than use something else more permanent than bluetack on the fridge.
OP - I am also looking to wall-mount my Nexus 7.
So far, the best options I have seen are:
1) TPU Case with PadTab (Link to PadTab HERE)
2) Wall-Mounted Tablet Dock (link HERE).
Did you already decide how to mount your N7?
Kind of a dead thread, but if anyone else is looking for a wall mounting idea, I'm looking at a couple of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004Z88WSK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A29AY3J0MGBUKJ

I got 2 sets of these when they first came out on some special intro deal and paid $20 delivered. For what they are, they work well enough. Just realize that is simply a pair of cheap plastic holders you glue to whatever surface you want. You only get 1 orientation and size depending on placement. Installing them level and at the correct width is up to the installer
The pad tab from the previous post to your stuck on a TPU case would give more options albeit at about twice the cost, 15 vs 20 + 8 (or more) for TPU case.

lmao. I use HDD magnets too. Guys are crazy strong and thin = perfect. I used 2 for a LCD drawing note clip board thing and it almost pulls the fridge over (not quite but you know what I mean).
For the Nexus, I would use 1. Glue it to a TPU case and done.
This probably the one you are looking for, it's a specific kitchen mount for Nexus 7, i got it on Independence Day, it's doing 20% discount promo again now, good time to get one.

Car Mount?

Does anyone can Recommend Car Mount for edge?
I have been using the iBolt xpro seems OK although the springs seem a little strong.
I am looking at some off the wireless chargers but not seen and that look right for landscape use.
I use iMagnet, the edge can stick without any needs for the metal plate, but I use slim ringke case, for thick case I think you'll need to attach the metal plate.

If you don't use your CD slot, get this one. I hate the ones that stick on the windshield with a suction because they always fall off while I'm driving around. These are way more secure and won't obstruct your view.

Don't just assume things... and then comment. This is how misconceptions gets spread.
A magnet doesn't have any major negative impact on your phone. The worst it could do is screw up your compass if you use an app that needs that function.

I find that mounts with side grips makes it harder for you to access the screen edges since it curves.
I'm using this one:

Good quality and it clamps the phone from top and bottom so that your edges are free. I initially bought this for the Z2 since side clamps can disrupt button presses.

It is, even with Ringke Slim, it's pretty sticky enough, I guess something inside the edge is made of metal, right in the middle of the body.
