Market dnld slow, or not working? - Nook Color General

Trying to snag some new apps & update others & I am not sure if it is working. Avery app shows "starting download" with no progress showing. One that I was updating said "authorizing payment" forever. It looks like it may have worked, but it was only an update, so can't be sure. Hasn't shown up in the notification bar. I was having a problem with my wireless router & reset it & seem to be able to get on line OK, but he market has me wondering if I still have a problem.
Cheers,
kev

Try signing in and out of Google talk.. no joke
//from the nook COLOR

I am pretty sure I accidentally deleted Google Talk. That must be the problem. How can I get it back. Is it an apk? Where can I find it?
Thanks,
kev

Yes an apk. Would be in system/apps/
Not sure where to find them for download though

i'm having the same problem...
i started Google Talk, it logged me in, then I signed out ( Menu -> More -> Sign out )... (although it still seems to be running in the background )
but my downloads are still doing the same thing.
next i opened google talk again, then signed out... since its still running in the background, i used Advanced Task Killer to Kill Google Talk.
then went back into the Market, but no luck, its still stuck on Starting download...

Since I had deleted Google Talk, I just went & re-Auto-nootered. It seemed to work, as I can use Market again & nothing that I can see has been compromised. I am, by no means, an authority on this. Just relating my experience. YMMV! BTW post re-auto-nooter boot, I didn't see any Google sign in screen or anything different from a normal boot & market works fine.

1) You have posted in the wrong forum.
2) Market works fine in 2.2 unless you flashed one of the pre-release builds.

I'm having the same, or very similar problems. Basically, I'm seeing paid apps, and my purchases, but I'm not seeing the "Top Paid" tab, nor is the Market acting in any sane or rational way. For example, I install an app, and the notification bar will say downloading, then installing, then the notification that it installed. In the Market download window, though, I see it download, then switch to installing, but never get beyond that.
What started all this with me was this. Using Linda File Manager, I uninstalled a couple of apps (was trying out the feature since I was in there). In this case, it was Google Earth (don't really use it), and a Pirate game that I never grocked. Anyway, in the Market they wouldn't leave my list in the Downloads, so I wiped the cache and data in the Market app in Settings > Applications > Manage Applications.
After that, all my apps appeared as uninstalled in the downloads window, and the issue with installation started. First thing I did was try and reinstall all the apps, and ended up with a huge list of apps that were installed, but were marked as still installing by the market. Killing the market app cleared out the hung install progress bars. The other thing that started happening was that not all of my installed apps appeared in my download list. KO Boxing, for example was on the featured list as upgradable, but it wasn't in my download list to upgrade.
Ultimately, what I decided to do was wipe the phone and see what happened. After wipe, I logged in and FRF91 didn't restore my apps like it had in the past. In fact, the market was exactly the same as it was before the wipe, with all my apps showing as free or purchased. Installing issue was also the same. Now, I know that Google backs up the settings, so I thought maybe that had something to do with it. I wiped again, but in the configuration process post-wipe, I selected for Google to not restore from backup (hit menu in the setup when you are entering your username/password). This brought me through the process much quicker, but with no change in the market function.
So, I'm still without a "Top Paid" tab, nor with a all together sane Download window. It's frustrating the heck out of me, and I'm about to go back to whatever the 2.1-r1 release was (ERE27?) and see if that makes any different.
The ROM I'm running is the FRF91 full release from lox_dev:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715799
If T-Mobile is doing the OTA's to FroYo from 2.1-r1, then maybe I'll let it do it's own thing today and then see if that fixes it. Ugh.

The above snipped sections are my story too.
Updated last week manually from ERE27 to FRF85b to FRF91 using the official stock clients each time. Non rooted N1. I spent 6 hours on Friday night trying to sort this..
I've got posts up on the Google Nexus One forums also and am holding where I am for a definitive fix. It's very frustrating though..
Go to menu>applications> magage applications> all apps> market then force quit and clear data and whatever else is in there.

I tried that on Friday night. Once I'd done that, none of my installed apps showed in the Downloads section.
That's why I did a full wipe and set the phone back up. Luckily I was still able to find all my apps, including the purchased ones. However the missing 'Top Paid' button and slow market performance persisted.
So, for fun, I pushed back to ERE27 (2.1-r1) and same issue. No "Top Paid" in the Market, and issues with installation. This is complete wipe, nothing installed on the phone after imaging.
I let it upgrade to FRF91, which didn't change anything. I'm now pretty convinced that whatever this is is completely account related on the Google server side of things, and it needs to be sorted out by them
Guess I'll have to figure out who to contact for support from Google :/

I'm working the Google angle also plus have posts on several forums and watches on more.
Please can you keep this thread updated with your progress and I'll do the same.

I've made contact with Google via email and this is now being investigated.
I'm sending them a summary of the problems I've been having and pointing them at various threads both here and in the Market so that they can see how widespread this problem is.
I've also tried a full hard reset and cache wipe without luck. My belief is that this is something that Google need to sort server-side, so I'm done with my wiping and reinstalling for now...

Looks like this has now been fixed server-side.
I got my 'Top Paid' tab back this morning - Yay!

[Q] Can't download any from market

I have rooted captivate. since yesterday I can't download or update anything from market. It keeps saying 'starting downloads' and happens nothing. Even sometimes it says your item will be downloaded but again happens nothing.
I use black market too. Does it make my 'market' fail now? I don't have a clue...please help me.
Hey try re flashing the rom you have and see if that works, its worked for me before.

Make sure the Google Talk services are running.
Steps to try:
1) Clear market data, retry downloads.
2) Depending on the rom you are on, Froyo build, you may not have a unique Android ID. If this is the case, download Android ID Changer and change the ID to something other than seen. Next time you flash stock, get your unique Android ID and write it down so you can use in the future.
Good luck.
I didn't get Froyo yet, and I just rooted in order to get the permission of installing apps freely. so I didn't do anything with roms. And I realized that Google talk is not working. I never played that app becuase I'm using kakaotalk. It says signing in...but nothing happens. How can I erase maket data then. I think I should have study more before rooting. How does goolge talk running related to market?

Both the market and Google talk use this service called
Google Talk Service (or something like that)
If you use a program that blocks startup programs make sure both google talk and its service are greenlisted. In addition try to stop using any task killers to see if that is the problem.
And the massage "Sorry! The process com.google.process. gapps has stopped unexpectedly. please try again." comes out from time to time with 'force close' button.
What does it mean?

I think it is tied to GMail sync which is also tied to the Google Talk service I believe.
I uninstalled apps have chances auto killing that process. They are one click lag, auto killer memory, but nothing changed after rebooting. Even the same error message came out as soon as rebooted. The odd thing is that that task is still running when i check with android hackers. How can I control the start up apps?

Oh my Gosh!! I love XDA developers friends!! Thanks diablo, nbs !! I just found out other thread with same issue and fixed beautifully my captivate.
Here is what I did. I downloaded google talk services apps from here, and copy them to systems/app, and reboot. They are automatically downloading all the accumulated failed downloading after rebooting. I might have deleted some gtalk related apps by mistake. Hooray!!
Thanks all!!

No problem! The same thing happened to me a while back because I accidentally startup audited the service.
i cant seem to make this work for me? but I am having the same problem..

Market apps won'd download

Tried searching..
My rooted NC has been working perfectly. I have downloaded lots of apps. Now when I am on the market everything seems fine but files will not download. It just sits there on "starting download". The only thing I can think of is I used Titanium backup to "wipe data" on the market app...I am a noob, was that dumb?? I thought that might clear my market search history that keeps adding up. Any thoughts?
mine does that once in a while. i just reboot the nook and it starts again
I have re-booted a few times...no luck.
I had that symptom after I deleted Google Talk. I just re-auto-nootered & all was fixed. Nothing was disturbed. I never heard any feedback on whether or not that was a viable restore method, but it worked for me by restoring the missing files. If I were you, though, I would wait for someone else to chime in & give some guidance.
Cheers,
kev
now that I think about it my Gmail has not been working either. I am not getting notifications of new mail. When I launch Gmail and hit refresh it will get my mail, but not automatically like it used to....must some google account issue????
make sure you log into Google talk which should fix the issue.
My experience also supports the need to be signed into Google Talk in order to download from the Market.
Sent from my rooted NC using XDA App
I may have logged into google talk when I first rooted...but I have not touched that app since. I tried to launch it and it kicks me back to my home screen right away. Tried a reboot..same thing.
re-rooted, problem solved.
I rooted my Nook Last night, everything seemed to work fine as well. now( about an hour ago) the Marketplace stopped downloading.
Is re-rooting the only answer?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

HC: Can't register with Google?

I'm seeing people getting the Market and installing gmail, apps, etc. However, when I try to launch the Market and sign into Google, all I get is that it cannot communicate with Google's servers.
What's the deal here? What am I doing wrong?
It literally sits there trying to authenticate with google for about 5 minutes and then just fails. I can open the browser and go to websites, so it's not the wifi connection. Any ideas?
I am not sure why it is not working for you, but a few things to try that might help:
*browse to Google and sign into Gmail first, then go to the Market
*browse to the new android market where all your previous downloads are and try to push and App through from there (set up your NC as a device if you haven't already or do so from your PC)
Basically.....try to go anywhere where you can log into your google account and then maybe when you can get to the Market.
have you actually installed the Market, pushed it via adb, or what?

I am getting the same issue. Did you resolve this yet?
I was in the middle of posting how I had the same issue, but then it got fixed....I went into the GMail app, tried to sign in, typed in the wrong PW, it said I put in the wrong PW, tryed to sign in again, and it actually signed in. Market works now too.
Maybe it was just a fluke, but try putting in the wrong login info first. :\
I have the same problem as well have installed gmail and market with adb but cant sign into either of them google tells me it cant establish a reliable data connection running HC version 4
try signing in with youtube like we always had to?
I'm in the same boat. I'm not sure if this thread is even live anymore, but maybe. So , any word on what to do here?

Missing Android Market for Rooted Nook Color

I rooted my nook color and it works perfect, but i noticed when i unzipped the gapps file using clockwork nothing loaded. I was wondering if there is a way to get the android market without having to root all over again?. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
Same Problem!
Gods I HATE that my first post is a ... " ME TOO! " but what can you do?
I just got the NC yesterday, and of course rooted it right away with CM7 using huskermania's videos. Every worked fine EXCEPT no google apps! Removed the hacks ( thought I did it wrong ) did it again....no luck!
Are the current zip files bad? ( Ive tried both gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip and gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip )
any suggections ?
Tom
I've got the same issue, followed eyeballers instructions and used gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip.
Besides the missing market icon, everything seems to work fine.
EDIT: Found a fix for the issue on my nook; Went to https[://]market[.]android[.]com, tried to install something. I was prompted to accept the license agreement and set up my Google account with market.
Then I was asked which Google apps to install (youtube, google search, gmail, etc.), ticked what I wanted and confirmed.
Now I have the market icon available, also some more icons in the menu. As the WiFi was pretty unstable (Restaurant during lunch break) not all of the apps were downloaded, but so far it seems to work.
Thank you for the quick response. I tried going to the market and install, but when it ask where to download app the drop down menu does not give me the option of my nook color. Did i miss a step somewhere?
