[Q] Don't recieve sms from one number - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My SGS stopped recieving sms msgs from my girlfriend. When she switched her SIM card to another phone, it still didn't work, but when I put my SIM to another phone it worked again well, until I put it back to SGS. Than only one SMS from her came and that was all. Than it stopped recieving smses from her again. Do you have any idea what can it cause? Or any idea what to do about?
Thx for answers
I have SGS branded for Orange. Original fw, just updated in Kies, but it's still 2.1

Probable that you have blocked her SMS number on your SGS.
jje

I had similar problem on JG1 firmware.
The thing is, that eventually one sms started to block the others, either from one operator and sometimes even at mine operator.
Messages came eventually after few days, after a few times that this happened to me, I started bugging call center and they've deleted the first message in the line and all the others came at once.
This got fixed with firmware upgrade though.
So, update your fw, if you don't want to do it yourself manually or it's not available through Kies, I suggest Samsung service, they probably have some newer fw available.

Thanks, I will try it. There should be upgrade to 2.2 in Kies soon. At least I hope so

Missing Text Messages

Hi there
I'm having a slight problem with my O2 XDA Stellar in that every now and then, it lights up as if it's receiving a text, and then nothing happens. Each time this occurs I'm actually missing a text message! It's as if the message is received, but is not displayed or saved on the phone...
I only seem to have had this problem since upgrading to the official O2 WM6.1 ROM - however, my mate has a Vodafone branded Kaiser (V1615 I believe) on the original Vodaphone (UK) WM6.0 firmware and he's experiencing the same problem.
I run Kasperski Security Suite on mine which includes an AntiSpam scanner, sometimes this would pop up and allow you to 'whitelist' known numbers. I've entered the respective numbers (even duplicated the entry with a +44 version just in case) and it still happens. I've also tried disabling the AntiSpam and this makes no difference.
It seems to happen about once a day at the moment, and the worst thing is that it's most often texts from the wife that I'm missing (probably cos she texts me the most!) so I can get into a bit of trouble sometimes for not picking her up / doing stuff for her etc!
I was thinking of backing everything up with Sprite Backup, hard resetting and then restoring everything.
Quick edit: Just to specify that this happens to texts from all carriers, O2, Vodafone, T-Mobile, Virgin, Orange, 3...
Any idea's?
Bump!
Has no-one else had this problem and solved it?!
i know this won't solve your problem but try signing up for O2 Bluebook? it keeps a copy of your texts online so you can check there whenever you think you've missed one?

If you guys are running different versions of the OS, different radios, but the same carrier i'm guessing that it is a network issue and not a software issue.
i was runnin the 6.1 from o2 and its been fine no probs at all.
Hi guys!
Thanks for the replies!
Scotchua - I'm on O2 and my mate's on Vodafone so that kinda rules network out!
O2XDAEXEC - Well that's quite promising, I might try a hard reset and restore and see what happens...
I suspect something may be running in thr background when this happens. I set my mate's Voda Kaiser up for him as he's not too computer savvy, so it has most of the same apps I run on mine. I'm thinking one of those might be running periodically and somehow stopping the SMS being recorded?
Well, tried a Hard Reset and restore with Sprite Backup - got the Mrs to try a test SMS - nothing. And another - nothing.
I got her to do the *0# at the start of the message (prompts a delivery report on O2-UK) and my message came through and she got the report! Seems to have been fine since (fingers crossed).
I know no-one seems to have suffered the same problem but my phone lost another text this morning
Aaaarrrrrggggghhhhhh!!!!!

weird sms problem - getting some but not others.....

Hi all,
This has happened twice now, the first thing I know about it is when someone phones me and says "did you not get my text?"
I then proceed to send myself a text and nothing happens!
I have tried flashing new roms, different radio and still the missing texts to not arrive.
To get them to arrive I have to stick my sim into my partners nokia, one I get the missing texts my phone them works properly and I can receive all texts.
Has anyone heard of this before?
I'm on o2

Troubleshooting: Some SMS don't get through (German Network)

Hey everyone,
I face a SMS sending problem. I'm texting to Australia quite often and I'm (different to my t-mobile button above) with E-Plus. A long time me and my partner down under had no trouble sending/receiving text messages. But lately only half my texts get through.
We had a problem earlier this year when she was with Optus. All of a sudden my messages did not get through anymore. All of them. Then she changed to Vodafone and it seemed to work. But E-Plus (I'm actually with MedionMobile, just using E-Plus network) made their messages cheaper and now I face this problem!
It's really anoying. Now -
when I have such a problem - does it have anything to do with my Radio / Rom installed on the phone? Or is this just a network fault?
Would changing to Vodafone solve this problem since Vodafone Germany and Vodafone Australia are partner networks?
It's just that E-Plus is so much cheaper (1/3 of the price for a SMS!)
Please try to help me!
Is your operator billing you for the txts? If so, you can be sure they're transferred to your operators server correctly and your phone's alright. But you probably won't be able to get a deeper insight into what happens after that- if and where your txts are lost....
Changing networks MIGHT help, but don't count on it.
You might wanna try sending your txts using an internet-based service?! just to check... and, btw, that might be cheaper, too. I remember seeing a tool that allows you to send txts via internet-based services from your xperia using your data connection. i just can't seem to find it right now.
first: thanks for your help!
My operator is billing me for the text messages, yes. So they send it correctly. I even tried out to get a confirmation for sent items, you know? I always get the message that it has been delivered. But then she does not get the message...
I tried out to send messages from two of my class mates and from my mums phone as well as from my dads phone. Their messages all get through...
I think I know what you mean with internet based SMS sending. Innosend is such a service, huh?
But items sent throught that service do not get stored in my SMS store...But I will try it out, I guess. As well as I try a Vodafone SimCard.
I hope there is nothin wrong with my phone...
Out of interest, what phone does your partner have?
Oh, I think you got me there. Long time it was a Sony Ericsson...older one. But she got a new one two weeks ago or so. But I don't think it's her phone because the fault occured on both, her old and her new phone. I'll write it in here as soon as I know...
Ah ok cool. The reason I was asking: When I got my Xperia I soon realised that my gf was only getting around half the texts I was sending. It drove me crazy as nothing seemed to fix it - I got my phone replaced, she got hers replaced, we both got new SIMs. Just like you, the texts were showing up on bills, and O2 could see them going through their message centre, so they could not identify the problem.
Eventually I figured it out, my gf did not receive my messages when they were longer than a single message. Anything more and it simply did not show up on her phone (LG Renoir), but still seemed to send successfully and show up on my bill. I then realised that the same thing happened when sending long texts to my friend (also an LG, but a Viewty). They can both get long messages from other people, just not me, so I think there must be some sort of incompatibility between the Brands/softwares.
Probably of no help to you really, but maybe you send long messages too?
No, it's fine since I experience such a thing on my own now. Thanks for sharing! I'm gonna ask her what kind of phone she uses now. Today I removed the SIM Card from my phone and replaced it. The Xperia did a new setup on my network and afterwards my 2 sent messages came through. Maybe I just had to do that because I flashed a new Rom and later a new Radio without renewing my network options...
As you, I do not have a clue where the problem is...But also takin my mums T-Mobile Sim Card in my phone she got all messages. I believe it's the operator...I keep you guys updated when I have my Vodafone card or if it should work normally now...
Thanks for your help. Always appreciated!
edit:yes, I experienced that longer messages have less chance to get through. Sometimes they are messed up or just the first part (first 160 characters) get through...hmm

[Q] My Galaxy S auto-rejects all incoming calls

Hi there folks. I got a Bell Samsung Galaxy i9000M about a month ago or so. Initially, I was very disappointed that Android 2.2 wasn't available. After some digging through these forums, I discovered Doc's Froyo ROM thread and read that some people on Bell had used this successfully. I followed the instructions from his thread (am currently uisng Doc's Froyo v7.6.2 JPO, and my phone is rooted as well). Ever since I changed firmware to Doc's v7.6.2 Froyo versus the original Bell UGJH2 (i believe that's what it was called) Android 2.1, my phone auto rejects all incoming calls.
What happens is that any time someone calls my phone by calling my phone #, my phone rings once, then the call is rejected (the phone I call from says it got rejected), and on my Galaxy S, I lose network signal completely (3G/phone signal) for a few seconds when this happens.
Is this a known issue with the ROM I am using.. do I have some sort of option turned on that I shouldn't? I need some help here. Is this something my phone carrier (Bell) is doing cause I hacked the phone?
To clarify, I am perfectly able to make outgoing calls to phone numbers, and I am able to browse internet with 3G/HSPA just fine using Bell's network. Before I did the upgrade to this Froyo ROM, I was not experiencing this issue. I hope someone here can point me in the right direction, I really need to get this fixed because right now, no one can call me.
Really, no replies? There's no one else that has had this issue? I want to flash my phone to the new-er Froyo JPK3 that's supposed to be for Bell.. anyone have a clue whether that should fix it? What about just doing a factory reset?
i have the same problem, different carrier though, german o2
i think it might be cuz of a wrong CSC
i reflash now and report back
My initial guess was that my ROM is not suited for my phone/carrier.. but since I was able to make outgoing calls, use 3G and send/receive texts, I dismissed that idea. Especially since there were other people using Doc's v7.6.2 on Bell with supposedly success results.
So what I did was I went into Clockwork Recovery Mode, and did a factory reset. Now my phone works fine. Beats me what the problem was. Must've been some app I installed I guess.
i had the same problem. i did what you did. factory reset. then used titanium backup to restore all my apps and system settings. thank God for titanium backup lol.
I happens to me too from the 1st time i flash my phone to froyo.. u need to reinstall the correct csc. After a clean flash insert your sim card then dial *#272*IMEI No.# then choose the right csc of your phone. It will make a factory reset after the installation of new csc.

Galaxy S not making or receiving calls or txt’s using XXJVT/XXJVS Rom HELP!

Hi all, I have been using the Stock Extra from the here for a number of weeks now with no issues. Until yesterday when my galaxy s stopped making or receiving calls or text messages, I get an error message saying text not sent & when I try to dial out it goes straight to call ended. I have tried a restore which didn’t help and I have even went back to XXJVS Rom 2.3.5 but still no calls or texts ! I rang Virgin mobile yesterday and they did all the usual checks and they said it must be a setting on the phone causing the problem as they cant see anything being blocked or barred. When I use my card in another phone it works fine ! My wife’s sim card wont work in my phone either so it has to be the phone ! Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this problem? I am Desperate now I have only had the phone 3 months!

Did you try a reflash with Odin? Never seen this problem before.
Hi Paulforde, Yeah tried re-flashing with Odin but no change
Cheers
Try a different modem firmware...
I had several issues with several different ROMs but in most cases anything to do with calls, data, wifi, GPS, or BT were solved by flashing a different modem... I didn't notice which country or carrier you're using but I'm in Canada using Rogers and the best modem I've found for signal strength, and keeping all of the other radio related functions working has been UGKC1 This is dependant on where you are and who your carrier is though.
You can find most of the Froyo and Gingerbread modems here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876391
Hope this helps,
Jamie
I have this exact problem with a Galaxy S I just got back from a RMA - the antenna was dodgy or something and it would get poor signal everywhere. Now signal is fine but it won't make texts/calls, again not the SIM.
Does your mobile internet work? Mine does which is weird..
Have you also checked your APN settings??
