First off, this is not my fix and I take no credit for it - I am just passing it on. Many thanks to xguntherc for posting the original fix, and KorbenD for pointing me in the right direction on Titanium Backup.

I will summarize the Titanium Backup solution, as that's the one I had gotten to work. The non-TB solution did not work for me, but still relevant as some people have gotten it to work in cm:
- Get a copy of Titanium Backup and sideload it (free version is fine). http://matrixrewriter.com/android/
- Make sure the Market is working with your Google ID, of course.
- Go into Settings -- Applications -- Manage Applications and Force Stop both the Market and Google Services Frameworks apps.
- In Titanium Backup, go into "Backup/Restore", look for "Google Services Framework 2.2", click on it and then choose "Wipe Data". Then go back to the home screen.
- Run the Market app. You should get an error (that's a good thing, as that's what we want. If you don't get an error, re-try the steps above until you do).
- Reboot, and wait at least a minute after the OS is up to let things stabilize.
- Run the Market again. You should see an immediate difference.
EDIT: You might have to do one more reboot to get apps to actually download and install. I had this issue, but it might have just been me.
I tested this on TnT 1.02, but keep in mind that my TnT is further modded so results may vary. Good luck!
It worked!!! Thanks a million my friend for posting this.
Works on Zpad 1106
Working very nicely on v1 build of the zpad clean V1.0 Thanks this is great!
Updated apps!!! rockplayer is now working he he.... I'm like a kid in a candy store Nice find man
Works perfect on 6.1 beta!!! Thanks!
This doesn't seem to work on a rooted stock g-tablet. I also tried the Titanium Backup method, but no luck. It does give me the Market terms of use on first run.
You guys are going to force me to use a modded firmware! I still want to wait and see what ViewSonic/Flextronics comes out with for an update.

Well, as soon as you add gapps, it's technically modded already. You might as well come to the dark side 100%!

Seems this device may steal a lot of the Archos 101's thunder for mid to higher end Android users, since easy to root and a LOT more powerful. Apparently both devices have the same display too. Need to see the Archos 101 in "person" to confirm this, but Youtube vids show the same weak angles.
Talk about irony. Archos talks smack and is a month and a half late (even later for 2.2), only to be beat to and in channels by a device with no smack talk. Ironic.

Did you start Market after each reboot? Or did you just reboot three times.
OTA: Using the vanilla post over the air update to... 2638(?) I think?
Tried Market everytime. And each time it came with error screen.
Last one came populated
Hope it helps
I don't seem to be able to get the desired results, no matter how many times I reboot.
If the ViewSonic update doesn't give a decent market, I will reset the device and start over. I'm still not convinced that I need to install a custom ROM.

The Viewsonic update is going to be a device reset, for all intents and purposes - that's why I'm not making any mods until that comes out.

I'm using this fix on stock, rooted G Tab & it is working great. I followed the video in the thread to flush the cache and all is up and running.
Is my Titanium Backup not installed properly? (first time ever trying to use it, I'm a total n00b on all of this) I get to Backup/Restore, but don't see any sort of Google Framework entry. Is there something I need to run first?

It should be in there - it's "Google Services Framework 2.2", it's alphabetical.
You have gapps installed, I assume? Market is there?

I sideloaded Market, didn't use the TNT/gapps loader. So perhaps that's my problem. (Though I don't see any apps listed in Titanium Backup/Restore. Maybe it has something to do with the error I get about "BusyBox works but the 'su' command does not elevate to root" when I open it.)
(Can't do the YouTube Market fix, either, because I have no option in the TnT Settings / Applications to Clear Data--only Clear Cache is there)
I imagine I'll be going to TNTlite pretty soon, but I was waiting for the OTA for.... no particular reason, really.
Thanks.
This worked great for me using tntlite 2.0, but this step "- Go into Settings -- Applications -- Manage Applications and Force Stop both the Market and Google Services Frameworks apps." the manage applications buttton was missing.. the actual button I used was System Applications.. otherwise the instructions worked. also be patient when you are wiping data in titanium backup, after hitting the button it does take a while before it will show a popup saying "data wipe complete"

I was about to write the same thing, but I think he means right after rooting, before enabling gmail and market. He could try pushing a Titanium Backup apk and wiping data, but he doesn't have market access yet, so he can't downloaded it. I'd just re-root - sounds easier.

I picked up the NC and rooted (used auto-nooter 2.12.25 for 1.0.1) without issue a couple days ago. Everything has been working fine (including downloading apps from the market), but yesterday the market stopped downloading apps (it would say that it was starting the download, but never actually do anything). Fast-forward to today and the market won't even open, it immediately closes itself.
Any ideas or suggestions as to what might be the issue would be greatly appreciated. I'm guessing that I may have to restore to stock and root the NC again, but I thought I would seek some help before that.
Go to settings, then applications, click all, then click the market application, click force stop if its running, then click clear cache, then reboot

Thanks for the quick response.
Unfortunately, that didn't help. When I went to clear the cache, it was already empty. I still followed the steps and rebooted, but it wouldn't open.
Get Titanium Backup & wipe data on the market.

When I look at the settings app on the NC I don't see where one could goto applications and do that. That is what I would find in a typical android settings app which the rooted NC doesn't have or am I looking in the wrong place?

Thanks, I tried it, but no go.
I went ahead and wiped it to stock and rooted it again. So far, so good, but I do worry about what caused it to stop working in the first place.
Before we start... yes, I have searched the forums and thats why I've started this thread.
Setup: CWM, VEGAn 5.1, Titanium Backup and Root Explorer
EVERYTHING is working except for this...
I have run the market fix step by step (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845175) and have access to the full market. I can even get all the way to initiating the download of the app. However, when the download starts, it just hangs in 'starting download...' and does nothing. It doesnt download or install, just hangs.
This seems to be a known issue with phones with no answer...

Just had it happen on my phone. I fixed it by going into applications and clearing the data from google services framework. Then reboot...
Mine does this if I try to use it from work. The firewall allows normal web, and transparently proxies FTP so I'd think it would work, but it doesn't.
sign into google talk and all should be well... google's market depends on gtalk service - signing into gtalk should do it for you.

Thanks for the heads up. You are right that it is dependent on GTalk, but I think I've stumbled across the main issue. When I connect to someone's else's wifi (couple of people in my apt complex have left their routers unprotected), I don't have any issues connecting to gtalk or market. So obviously, my gtab is having an issue with the connection through my network/firewall/<insert idea>, I'm assuming.
Are there any known network/firewall issues with connecting to gtalk or the market?
I'm running TnT Lite 3.1 and finally got all the apps to load up on market using the "market fix" that you tried as well, but am stuck on "starting download" as you are. Although it's possible that it has something to do with the router, I turned the firewall on my router completely off and still hangs. I wish we could figure this one out.
Just know you are not alone.

I don't know if this will help but I have seen that a couple times and have found that if I tap on the app that is stuck it will go back to the menu asking if you want to install like you would see when you first tried it. Say ok, it will start to download again. Seems most times it will then download.
I have in the past had apps just stay stuck. Only thing that I could ever do to fix that was to clear the data from the Google services framework, and reboot. Kind of like doing the market fix again.
Try clearing cache for the downloader. It could be there is a bad file "stuck" there that it is trying to resume...
It's even possible that there is a zero byte file there with perms wrong...happened to me once after switching ROMs
How do you sign into gtalk? Is it already installed in TnT by default? I don't see an icon for it.
Are you running a custom rom or stock. Stock has no Google Apps

I'm running TnT Lite, version 3.1 I believe.
I can obviously navigate to the main page google.com/talk, but don't see a link there to install for android/gtab. If my market worked I could probably install from there, but that's the whole reason I'm messing around with talk. Still can't get my market to install anything, despite market fix, clear this, clear that, etc.
You can reinstall TnT rom without wiping data/cache. I would wipe cache. The gTalk app (Talk) should have installed with TnT lite. This will reinstall everything in the rom wothout wiping your data. You may still have to wipe data/cache but you can try it in steps

Sorry if you have already done this but....I would backup my apps and THEIR data with titanium backup and do a complete reinstall. Wipe data/ factory reset and then install the rom again. Restore your apps and their date with Titanium. Don't restore system data with Titanium.

Ok will try that and get back to you. I don't really have to backup anything, will just do a wipe and reinstall. Thanks for your help.
Well chit. I downloaded the new TnT 4.1 and figured I'd give that a try.
Restarted w/ clockworkmod .08, cleared cache, cleared data, then installed TnT.
After booting back up some of the buttons weren't working, couldn't type in my wireless password, it would keep jumping to the home screen, then I couldn't shut down, power button would not turn the damn thing off.
Copied the TnT 3.1 update.zip back to the sdcard. Went into settings and did a data reset/wipe and finally it shut down.
So I restarted with clockwork mod again and wiped cache and data reset, loaded TnT 3.1 and let it boot up.
Was able to enter wireless password and get that going and confirmed the internet was working. Then went to market and or course it was not working. So did market fix, after installing titanium backup. Had to reboot a few times after force stopping google services and market, and wiping cache/data (from within settings) each time and finally all the apps showed up in market.
However, still unable to get anything to install.
Tried to login to google talk with same result.
I'm now thinking it must be something with my firewall as the first user mentioned. Going to try it on another connection and let you guys know.
I can confirm that it is something to do with my firewall. Finally tried market on another connection and it downloaded right away. Now I have to get verizon to give me a new router. DOH!
EDIT Now I can download from market just fine from my original location. It seems that once I downloaded the first time from a different location, now it is all working.
Anyone have apps that download and not install? I've been having this problem, before my memory even got low for apps so I wiped everything and reinstalled my apps and had less then half a gb of apps.
Things seemed good but today it started happening again, apps will hang in downloading or will download and not install.
I have a Galaxy S I9000M, just came back from repair at the Montreal Repair Depot.
Had some trouble unlocking it to run on Fido network, but finally got that working using Helroz's unlock tool (so, phone is rooted) and unlocked).
Used it for a little while (about an hour) installed a couple of apps, and now, suddenly, I cannot install apps from the Android Market. When I try to install, the app goes through the process of downloading, but then it does nothing. I get no error message, no notice of install failing, the app download indicator disappears from my notification area, and the app is not installed.
Has anyone else run into this issue?
Any idea of a fix? I have powered off/on, no change. I would prefer to avoid having to factory reset, but will do so if absolutely necessary.
Thanks in advance for any input.
Having the same exact problem here...
same issue
Same thing is happening to me as well. It started after I rooted my phone using super one click root.
I also used super one click root on my phone, but the if that's the cause of the problem, then it doesn't cause it right away. I was able to install several apps after rooting, then suddenly I couldn't install anything.
I have read that for some people, unmounting the SD card will work. i had an external SD card installed, but i had that in before I downloaded apps that installed properly. For me, unmounting (and removing) the external SD card did not have any effect on my problem.
For what it's worth, I'm not running any special ROm or anything - just standard Froyo 2.2 (JL2) as released by Samsung for the Bell I9000M (I didn't upgrade, it shipped back from repair with JL2 installed).
Same here

How can I force Maps to update?
Just some info guys: it seems to be a known issue. Checked the help in the main Market page: http://market.android.com/support/bin/static.py?page=known_issues.cs .
It's under download and installation issues. Please report it if you're having the same problem so they can fix it faster.
Ok the problem seems to be fixed by downloading/updating the Google Maps app. If it still doesn't work make sure to:
-clear data on the market app
-restart your phone
-update Google map and let it install fully

I am not really sure, mine showed that it needed an update. Maybe you can try to uninstall/install Google Map again and make sure to clear data on the market application FIRST.
After clearing my Market cache, and uninstalling market updates, market re-updated itself, and I can now install apps again (who knows fo how long, though). Hopefully, it will stay and i will stay happy.
Under Manage Applications I can't uninstall Market Updater for the above solution.

Sorry could I get some clarification on the suggestion jayisgod posted? Cos Im obviously missing something here.
I personally force stopped the market App, cleared the data in Manage Applications (btw the Cache button is grayed out) and then restarted the Market app (Agreed on the terms blah blah) and still get the same issue.
Btw in Manage Applications -> All I can see a Market Updater package but I can't delete it or force stop it (both options are grayed out).
Thanks
PS: I am using Darky's Rom V9.1 if that makes any difference
