Everytime I flash a rom i have no signal.
I've flashed before and never had this problem.
I flash to stock, master clear, flash rom with sd and sim out and usb unplugged.
When the rom finishes flashing the phone doesn't recognize that the sim card is out. When I put the sim card in there still is no signal.
The only time i have signal is when im in stock so it can't be the sim card.
Help please!
Could be your APN settings are getting wiped when your installing the ROM.
What is the ROM you are attempting to flash?

What rom are you flashing? Some kernels will do this to you if you reboot the phone while it is connected to your computer.
do the whole flash with the USB disconnected, from start to finish

I have had this same thing happen a couple times with Phoenix and it is frustrating to say the least..
Here's what I did...I charged the battery till it was full when I was at stock..then..Re download the rom..update zip file and the theme if using one again...sometimes you can have a bad download..and it can cause problems...
Pull your Sim card..and your sd card out...and leave them out..and flash stock and master clear again..
Unplug your USB cable...
Then..go back in and re-enable usb debugging and notify on connection.
Plug your usb cable back in and mount the internal drive..Verify your internal drive has been wiped..If it has..then proceed...if not..master clear again..
Once everything has been wiped..and you have re-enabled usb debugging...remount your internal drive by turning off usb storage and copy the update.zip file and the rom and theme if using one back over.Make sure it says update.zip...not update.zip.zip...it it says the later under properties of the file..change it otherwise it won't install.
Unplug your usb cable
Now reboot into 2e recovery..and re-install your packages 2 times from there so it will give you the green recovery menu..not the blue one.Now choose the rom from the recovery install from sd card..and flash the rom...
Once you have fully flashed the rom..stay in recovery by booting back to recovery...It should have changed colors and now be red...Now choose your theme if using one and flash it...reboot back into recovery and do a back up of everything...
Once this has been completed...re-boot you phone again...and charge it completely again..Once it is charged completely..power it off and pull the battery..Once you have the battery out..Gently wipe off your sim card contacts..and insert it correctly all the way into the phone..The angled end on the right hand side is showing...Make sure it is all the way in...Gently press the top of the holder to make sure it has good contact...Once you have done this...turn your phone on...It may show up right away..or may take a couple minutes for it to connect...but you should have your connection now...
If this doesn't work..I don't know what to tell you other than try this all again with a different rom..
Good Luck

Just so you know...You won't get the AT&T showing right away...with Phoenix...you will see the signal bars and a H...or 3g...or edge...After you get your connection..if you have wi-fi at home and have a secure setting to access it..you will have to log back into it again..I usually turn the phone off for about 1/2 hour...and then turn it back on and let it sit for about the same..When I come back to it...The AT&T is showing like it should and everything is fine..

Certain Roms write data to your NV_data
(i think it was JPC leak from I9000 that was the first one. it changed everyones product code to I897ZKAKOR)
Axura changes the product code to I959ZKATMB or something like that
The Correct Product code for our Captivate is I897ZKAATT.
If your IMEI says 004999010640000 this is incorrect also and you may find your phone to stop making calls as this is like a debugging or prototype imei
Finally, if your unlock code is FFFFFFFF, you need this repair in order to unlock your code
All of these can be fixed with Helroz's Repair_nv_data.zip Found Here: http://perso.numericable.fr/helroz/P...ir_nv_data.zip
I did not create the software or any of the instructions, THis is credited to Helroz in the vibrant forum (please thank and donate to him) he came up with all of this, Im just sharing knowlage.

Did something extremely stupid......
I Flashed a GSM ROM (DUTTY's 5.2 ROM) onto a Sprint CDMA phone. STUPID! I wasnt paying attention and I dunno why I did that maybe cause i saw the features on XDA and normally I'm on PPCGEEKS but now I need Help. Is there anyways of getting a CDMA Rom back on the phone. I can still get into bootloader manually. But i Need to be able to transfer a CDMA ROM to the internal Memory. Is this possible without fully booting into Windows Mobile?
Thanks for ANY suggestions!
I'm not sure, but the difference between isn't in the OS rom, but in the radio rom.
But it should be possible to flash another rom directly from the operating system with the tool delivered with almost every rom. Enter boot loader and then connect via usb.
my comp is not recognising the internal drive
pretty sure you bricked your phone
I too did this when i first started flashing my phone because i did not know the diff between GSM and CDMA , so this is what i did to fix it
1.turn the phone on to bootloader mode(tri-colour screen) to do this power the phone on while holding the the volume down key.
then
2.plug your usb in and wait for it to say usb on the bottom of the screen,
3. now flash your phone with a stock rom
this is what i did and the phone was fixed good luck post back with your results
I did the same with my phone and I burned it. I sent it to service and they change the entire motherboard.

Windows does not recognize anything when in bootloader mode. =( New phone on the way... if someone can gimme a fix for this I will pay pal them $$$...
WOOT fixed it!!!!
Using <--, vol-down, and power-button sequence:
First Bootloader will automatically try to flash DIAMIMG.rom which is still the ROM that messes up ur phone in the first place do to user error. I went ahead and let the WRONG Rom install about half way then pulled the battery. I then turned the phone back on and to bootloader screen says " Rom Upgrade Failed, Please try again..." I then plugged in USB cable and the phone detected the USB plugged in. Then went and ran rom upgrade utility via windows.... and presto! Phone fixed. Whew... I had all my contacts, pictures of kids and video all saved on internal storage. I hope this help someone as stupid as me.
for some reason i went to reboot my phone and it wontboot just hangs.. can boot to recovery and do a factory reset.. but still wont boot.
cannot boot to download mode with vol up keypad and power.. just continually reboots to the samsung white message and starts over.. any suggestions or should i just send it back?
got it working whey.. it wouldnt boot up to recovery.. got it to goto recovery during a boot loop by plugging in usb.. i think.. the only think i can think is that earlier today i replace the mms.apk and mms.odex with an earlier version from jf3.. didnt like that at all. but i didnt reboot till later.. this was to try and work around the messaging bug in jg1.. .since i had to reinstall i am happy to report as previously reported that the the csc from jff messaging works fine the the modem and core files from jg1.. (that is what i reflashed it too..)

Did you use the other 512.pit file? and did you check re-partition?
Make some screenshots!
Yes to both
Did you install the latest version of Kies? (just for the driver?)
And did you close kies before you started flashing?
I think its worked.
YESSSSS
Im on WJG5 ....shall I just leave it on that. I thought I would roll back to JG1 with r2, as I was having problems with it forever scanning the SD Card, and with MTP mode keep on flashing ...initializing.
Which it is doing right now
I have the latest version of Kies installed...and I never open it.
Edit: SHOULD I be able to roll back to an earlier firmware?

As far as i know you can flash whatever firmware you would like! the best option right now is to use JG5!
Correct me if i'm wrong!
Are you on WJG5?
Do you have any problems?
The MTP constantly initializing (Not sure thats a real problem as I turn it off and use mass storage, but it should work so I want it to)
The constant Media Scanning.
Doesnt feel particularly quick.
And with WJG1+r2 I could run scripts for lag and market and it was pretty quick.
Can I run the scripts with WJG5?? r2 made it nice and easy.

Yes i am on WJG5! you can root it and you can use the lagfix!
I am currently using it without the lagfix and it works great! no blackscreens whatsoever!
Question! did you remove the simcard and sd card when you where flashing with odin?
It shouldn't be scanning for media all the time! don't know whats wrong!
Yes I did.
Following a tutorial which says to uninstall Market from Applications. When I go to Applications(clicking Fliter>All) and bringing up Market there is no option to delete
Here mate, have a look at some suggestions.
And some other quick - you should have run kies before the flashing, so it would install all the drivers, it might be your problem.
Maybe a moderator can pin this, ot some other inbricking topic/guide?
Link to tutorial - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=725858
Yeah but I have flashed it about half a dozen times previous with no problems.
Well, I dont know what happened, but after setting up my phone pretty much as it was before I thought "I didnt do a factory reset after flashing the rom", so I did so.Rebooted, went to Market and all apps are showing
What does a factory format do??
I thought it would wipe everything off the phone?
After doing one on my newly flashed SGS, I had a look at the SD card and all the folders of games/programs were still there.
i was afraid too when i flashed with the latest firmware last week
odin did nothing, so after 10 mins i remove the usb cable and put it again
then restart computer and put the usb cable ... but the computer didn't see the phone
i turn off the phone, it turn on automaticaly with a nice logo with a phone and a computer... like the phone wana tell me : "You dumb idiot, you bricked me"
I was near to be killed (its my wifes mobile, not mine) but then i tried to return into download mode and it worked and lucky the computer saw the phone
ps: i did this night, when my wife was asleep, so she didn't noticed, but if she noticed or if it was bricked ... well i guess she would kicked my ass and i would be 500box poorer
Flashed today my GT-I9000 to TO froyo I897UCJI6. I know i should not have done that now. But i really got pissed today at the gps of my phone and when i saw and update for galaxy s i just went for it, haven't checked the phone variant version. Thing is now my phone has no gps whatsoever it boots up fine but, sound only shows when i plug my headphones, accelerometer dont work correctly and so on....
So i though i`ll flash it back to stock. But the thing is once i connect the usb cable the phone just reboots and stays dead until the usb is disconnected.
I read the other threads but found no similar issues.
Here is a brief video of my problem

Remove all "-"
since i can`t post links
Anyone has any ideas how to get me back to stock?
Thanks!!
Damn i can`t even charge it!
Kinda weird indeed, try to remove the battery, wait a little, insert the battery and go to download mode (volume - / home / power) then start odin, put all files needed, and connect the usb, if it doesnt reboot hit start...
you got to enable adb debugging on your phone then open a command window and type: adb reboot download connect the usb to the phone and hit the enter key for the adb command before your phone fall asleep, then you are in download mode an can flash any rom with odin.
hope this helps, i flashed the same wrong firmware from the Vibrant.
Thanks Franklin, i tried the battery trick to no luck.
This is i cannot put my phone back to download mode because my "HOME" button is not mapped to do anything, seems like the "RETURN ARROW" button does the fuction when the system is loaded.
Any other ways to flash it back? Sd card or something?
Thanks for replies ;]
please try it my way it worked for me and i think it will work for you
I open the cmd navigate to c:\androidsdk\tools\ type in adb reboot download hit enter, it mounts daemon tools i plug in usb cable and 3 seconds later the phone goes blank and it stays unresponsive(no 3 key combination, not even the power button can turn it back on) i unplug the usb cable and the phone automaticaly shows the AT&T logo and starts up. The same happens when i plug my charger in!. Does that mean my SGS usb port is fried or something? Is there another way to flash my pnoe back to stock ROM?
I am so sorry i tried to make it better :[
Any clues?
no this is NOT a defective phone, its the result of the ROM and the 3 Button combo can´t work oh and you dont really mean deamon tools? and you musst plug the usb cable in the phone right before you hit enter or it can´t work!
I did that too. Like i said the phone turns it self off once the usb cable is attached.

Any help? Anyone?
Anyone that can help?
have you tried plugging it into another PC or Laptop?
Yup tried amothe laptop, reboot.
Wall charger, reboot.
So i`m kinda out of options?
yes, return it to the store, to get an exchange
a normal working SGS does not reboot when plugged into any USB port/charger
it's Shorted (damaged) for some reason
ok, return sounds good to me, but what will i have to say when they`ll switch on the phone and see the AT&T logo?
I`m in UK and my network is Orange UK.
Will they accept it back with no problems, i kinda doubt that....
uhh... you are in quite a pickle ...
try to remove the evidence, intentionally use a Update.zip ROM flash to kill the flash
or flash it to stock if you find a good ROM via Update.zip
use the WiFi to download the Update.zip ROM flash to the root of the internal SD to flash it.
ROM Manager can get the same results, you can WiFi install it from Market

Installed ROM manager from market, but seems it needs the phone rooted, right?
And rooting can be done only via usb cable, right?
Where do i find a Update.zip ROM via Wifi? and what are the procedures when i do find it?
OK,
so obviously the question now is HOW DO I F...k up my phone completely so no one could see what was done to it. When i`ll take it back to the shop.

you can ROOT the phone within the phone itself
by downloading Ryzaa One click lag fix from the market
instead of installing the lag fix, select the option to ROOT the phone
Same issue here. Amazing how easy it is to mess this phone up when you are really stupid. Oh well....
Tried the one click lag fix to root it, but cannot find a way to get into download or recovery mode. Tried every button combo I have seen suggested, but either gets stuck in a loop on the AT&T screen or just boots into the OS.
At the moment I feel my only option if we cannot find a way to get into download mode is to format the internal SD card and send it back to o2 (my provider), tell them it fried when Kies tried to do an update, cross my fingers and hope they send me a new one.
I plan on using the sdk tools to get into Download Mode and revert to stock with odin. Once I am at stock I want to do Master Clear since I went to Download Mode with sdk tools do I need to first stop and remove my Sim and external SD card before I proceed?
Thanks
Once to flash stock with odin disconnect phone, close odin.
Turn on usb debugging, open odin, plug phone in while running. Odin should recognize your device, select master clear.
I would not have sim, our external sd in.

If you don't have working 3 button (why are you going into download mode using adb?) make sure you install the right ROM with the 3 button fix.
And remove SIM and external SD before even flashing the ROM. You don't need to have the SIM inserted to boot the phone.

I have 3 Button access to download Mode and have tested it. The reason I was going to use adb was because you don't have to remove Sim and External SD card to get to Download Mode it was just simpler to use adb. But since I need to remove sim and external sdcard anyway to Flash new ROM I will probably just use 3 button method,I was just trying to save a step or 2.
Well, you dont NEED to remove em but it's a step taken as precaution.
It's your choice it's normally does not need to but it's recommended to. Check out the ROM series at my channel if you need a walk through on video.

Just to be sure use the dial pad code to do a master clear.

It is alot faster then waiting for it to boot up and then enabling debuging and hooking up to Odin.

Hi! About two weeks ago my phone did not recognize my SIM card. Phone is rooted of course. So I restore my org ROM and sometimes my SIM vas recognized and sometimes not. I decidet to buy a new SIM and SD card reader. After replacing it problem did not go away, so I start diging depper and I found it that my IMEI is null/null. For last week I was trying to do every tutorial, guide and other things on net and of course this great forum to fix it. No luck unfortunatly. Today when I hold HOME+VOL BUTTON+POWER trying to connect in odin mode, here come the wierd thing phone was enter some kind of SDCARD MODE and copy some thing from SD card, there was about four rows of text something like SDCARD MODE, COPYING (I do not know what) FROM SDCARD, COPY FROM SD CARD COMPLETE, (I do no know what). Then phone turned off and do not power up anymore. I was tryin to remove battery. Phone was connected to computer while this wierd thing happen. Have anybody an idea of what happend?

Recovering IMEI And Data Connection
•Make sure you have Samsung Kies or the Samsung USB Driver installed on your PC.
•Download and Extract: Odin3 3.04.zip - 457.11 KB to your PC if you don't already have it.
•Download and Extract: Param_Bin_I9305.zip - 612.14 KB to your PC. http://d-h.st/Fhb
•With your Phone Switched Off, press and hold: 'VOL DN' + 'HOME' + 'POWER' to enter Download Mode.
•Connect your phone to your PC via USB Cable and start Odin.
•Check your phone is connected by seeing if a COM Port in a Blue box is present under ID:COM.
•Press the 'PDA' Button and select the 'Param_Bin_I9305.tar.md5' file you extracted from the Zip Archive earlier.
•Press the 'Start' Button and wait for it to finish flashing. If successful, you will see a Green Box with 'PASS!'.
•Wait for your phone to reboot then go to your Dialer and press: *#06#. You should now see your IMEI and your Data Connection will be back
Thanks for your help. I tried this for 10 times but no help. But at the moment my phone doesent even power on so I cannot enter odin mode or do anything on it.
Do maybe someone know solution for my problem!?
ensure that the battery is not drained, flash costs much~
you should verify whether the forementioned method have been finished correctly.
method of the guy upstairs has a base,if you didnt achieve,it will not work.
it is the drivers installed in first step, that makes your dead phone recognized in fastboot mode, way to check whether it installed well is the blue(green?) box in the sixth step,if you didn't see it,proved that what you were doing was nonsense.
All above has been done and still can't start, well,

After flashing my gt-i9305 from CM 10.1 to Liquid Smooth (Liquid Smooth worked great) and after another reboot, my Phone turned into "sd card mode" or something, and now, i can´t boot to Liquid Smooth, Cwm, Bootloader ,Fastboot, the Led doesn´t work, no usb connection (Odin)!
Today i builded a Usb Jig... on my S2 the Jig was working very well, but on my S3... nothing !
how could this happen? I've followed the instructions, and it was not the first time I've flashed a custom Rom!
Thanks for any support!

Usb Jig has only one function on SGS3 and that is to get to download mode where three button cannot .
