Hi! About two weeks ago my phone did not recognize my SIM card. Phone is rooted of course. So I restore my org ROM and sometimes my SIM vas recognized and sometimes not. I decidet to buy a new SIM and SD card reader. After replacing it problem did not go away, so I start diging depper and I found it that my IMEI is null/null. For last week I was trying to do every tutorial, guide and other things on net and of course this great forum to fix it. No luck unfortunatly. Today when I hold HOME+VOL BUTTON+POWER trying to connect in odin mode, here come the wierd thing phone was enter some kind of SDCARD MODE and copy some thing from SD card, there was about four rows of text something like SDCARD MODE, COPYING (I do not know what) FROM SDCARD, COPY FROM SD CARD COMPLETE, (I do no know what). Then phone turned off and do not power up anymore. I was tryin to remove battery. Phone was connected to computer while this wierd thing happen. Have anybody an idea of what happend?
Sorry for my english.

Recovering IMEI And Data Connection
•Make sure you have Samsung Kies or the Samsung USB Driver installed on your PC.
•Download and Extract: Odin3 3.04.zip - 457.11 KB to your PC if you don't already have it.
•Download and Extract: Param_Bin_I9305.zip - 612.14 KB to your PC. http://d-h.st/Fhb
•With your Phone Switched Off, press and hold: 'VOL DN' + 'HOME' + 'POWER' to enter Download Mode.
•Connect your phone to your PC via USB Cable and start Odin.
•Check your phone is connected by seeing if a COM Port in a Blue box is present under ID:COM.
•Press the 'PDA' Button and select the 'Param_Bin_I9305.tar.md5' file you extracted from the Zip Archive earlier.
•Press the 'Start' Button and wait for it to finish flashing. If successful, you will see a Green Box with 'PASS!'.
•Wait for your phone to reboot then go to your Dialer and press: *#06#. You should now see your IMEI and your Data Connection will be back
Thanks for your help. I tried this for 10 times but no help. But at the moment my phone doesent even power on so I cannot enter odin mode or do anything on it.
Do maybe someone know solution for my problem!?
ensure that the battery is not drained, flash costs much~
you should verify whether the forementioned method have been finished correctly.
method of the guy upstairs has a base,if you didnt achieve,it will not work.
it is the drivers installed in first step, that makes your dead phone recognized in fastboot mode, way to check whether it installed well is the blue(green?) box in the sixth step,if you didn't see it,proved that what you were doing was nonsense.
All above has been done and still can't start, well,

SD card mode copy's everything from the sd card to the bootloader or the emmc.. Not sure which one.. But it renders it complete hard brick (not able to turn on at all)
Sent from my GT-I9305 using xda app-developers app
So. Is there any hope for my phone? Or mybe I try to send it to service? If its hard bricked they will not reciognize that phone was rooted and have lost IMEI... Is that right? Or will they see that phone was rooted etc?

After flashing my gt-i9305 from CM 10.1 to Liquid Smooth (Liquid Smooth worked great) and after another reboot, my Phone turned into "sd card mode" or something, and now, i can´t boot to Liquid Smooth, Cwm, Bootloader ,Fastboot, the Led doesn´t work, no usb connection (Odin)!
Today i builded a Usb Jig... on my S2 the Jig was working very well, but on my S3... nothing !
how could this happen? I've followed the instructions, and it was not the first time I've flashed a custom Rom!
Thanks for any support!

Flashed today my GT-I9000 to TO froyo I897UCJI6. I know i should not have done that now. But i really got pissed today at the gps of my phone and when i saw and update for galaxy s i just went for it, haven't checked the phone variant version. Thing is now my phone has no gps whatsoever it boots up fine but, sound only shows when i plug my headphones, accelerometer dont work correctly and so on....
So i though i`ll flash it back to stock. But the thing is once i connect the usb cable the phone just reboots and stays dead until the usb is disconnected.
I read the other threads but found no similar issues.
Here is a brief video of my problem

Remove all "-"
since i can`t post links
Anyone has any ideas how to get me back to stock?
Thanks!!
Damn i can`t even charge it!
Kinda weird indeed, try to remove the battery, wait a little, insert the battery and go to download mode (volume - / home / power) then start odin, put all files needed, and connect the usb, if it doesnt reboot hit start...
you got to enable adb debugging on your phone then open a command window and type: adb reboot download connect the usb to the phone and hit the enter key for the adb command before your phone fall asleep, then you are in download mode an can flash any rom with odin.
hope this helps, i flashed the same wrong firmware from the Vibrant.
Thanks Franklin, i tried the battery trick to no luck.
This is i cannot put my phone back to download mode because my "HOME" button is not mapped to do anything, seems like the "RETURN ARROW" button does the fuction when the system is loaded.
Any other ways to flash it back? Sd card or something?
Thanks for replies ;]
please try it my way it worked for me and i think it will work for you
I open the cmd navigate to c:\androidsdk\tools\ type in adb reboot download hit enter, it mounts daemon tools i plug in usb cable and 3 seconds later the phone goes blank and it stays unresponsive(no 3 key combination, not even the power button can turn it back on) i unplug the usb cable and the phone automaticaly shows the AT&T logo and starts up. The same happens when i plug my charger in!. Does that mean my SGS usb port is fried or something? Is there another way to flash my pnoe back to stock ROM?
I am so sorry i tried to make it better :[
Any clues?
no this is NOT a defective phone, its the result of the ROM and the 3 Button combo can´t work oh and you dont really mean deamon tools? and you musst plug the usb cable in the phone right before you hit enter or it can´t work!
I did that too. Like i said the phone turns it self off once the usb cable is attached.

Sorry for that sirphukee.
Any help? Anyone?
Anyone that can help?
have you tried plugging it into another PC or Laptop?
Yup tried amothe laptop, reboot.
Wall charger, reboot.
So i`m kinda out of options?
yes, return it to the store, to get an exchange
a normal working SGS does not reboot when plugged into any USB port/charger
it's Shorted (damaged) for some reason
ok, return sounds good to me, but what will i have to say when they`ll switch on the phone and see the AT&T logo?
I`m in UK and my network is Orange UK.
Will they accept it back with no problems, i kinda doubt that....
uhh... you are in quite a pickle ...
try to remove the evidence, intentionally use a Update.zip ROM flash to kill the flash
or flash it to stock if you find a good ROM via Update.zip
use the WiFi to download the Update.zip ROM flash to the root of the internal SD to flash it.
ROM Manager can get the same results, you can WiFi install it from Market

Installed ROM manager from market, but seems it needs the phone rooted, right?
And rooting can be done only via usb cable, right?
Where do i find a Update.zip ROM via Wifi? and what are the procedures when i do find it?
OK,
so obviously the question now is HOW DO I F...k up my phone completely so no one could see what was done to it. When i`ll take it back to the shop.

you can ROOT the phone within the phone itself
by downloading Ryzaa One click lag fix from the market
instead of installing the lag fix, select the option to ROOT the phone
Same issue here. Amazing how easy it is to mess this phone up when you are really stupid. Oh well....
Tried the one click lag fix to root it, but cannot find a way to get into download or recovery mode. Tried every button combo I have seen suggested, but either gets stuck in a loop on the AT&T screen or just boots into the OS.
At the moment I feel my only option if we cannot find a way to get into download mode is to format the internal SD card and send it back to o2 (my provider), tell them it fried when Kies tried to do an update, cross my fingers and hope they send me a new one.
I was flashing EZ base and not paying attention (see attachedfile).
Now my SGS doesnt even respond to the power button! Is there ANYTHING I can do??
Please help
Plug the phone into the usb port then switch on phone. Does the pc detect a device?
i think i know you mate?
I recently soft bricked my phone and couldn't get into download mode the normal way.
What worked was holding the vol down button and the home button in (not the power button) and then plugging it into USB while holding them in. The USB power basically takes the role of pressing the power button.
I hope it works, good luck!
sorry mate but i just cant figure out how you could be so clumsy... so many times it is stated that you must be very careful with odin....
that is not helping, is there anything that can be done in the situation?

Sorry mate, I just can't figure out why you would post a such a useless unhelpful reply. I flash my phone on a regular basis with CM7/MIUI, mistakes can happen!
To everyone else, thanks, I got it working.... no idea but I read some bricked threads and tried out something... took the battery out, kept hammering the power button whilst putting the battery in with vol down and managed to get into DL mode.
Phew!
Hope you have your efs folder backed up. The SGS is hard to brick and one of the phones that can be unbricked easily. The only problem is with the efs (the files inside the efs folder stores your product code and the imei number.)
Just wanted to bring this to your notice if you haven't done it yet.
just bricked a samsung gt-i9000. Hopefully I can get help to recover. I made several mistakes or false assumptions.
1. I could never get the phone to boot into recovery or download mode by itself. (this is my wife's phone -uh oh - as my phone I had no problem doing this). But I installed adb sdk and could reboot it into recover or download that way, so went ahead with flash.
2. I was using an older perhaps guide to flashing MIUI which had different file names that no longer seem to exist but double checked a few places and got current version numbers on MIUI and cm7 kernel and etc., but I used a newer version of ODIN 1.82 instead of the 1.7. Thought that wouldn't matter but in my bricking searches found that it may be an issue.
So now I have the icon of ..phone ! computer... and no way of getting into download mode as adb can't see the device. Hopefully there is a way - I've tried the suggestions above but they aren't working. I hope as last resort I can make the jig I've seen mentioned.. but any other methods?
/jd
[edit] these two phones were purchased at the same time and have same firmwares. I did back up efs from my phone, and in this process of flashing wife's phone had uploaded the galaxy_efs_backup file but didn't get a chance for it to work. If efs is borked, can I use the one from my phone or are they unique to each device? (assuming I can unbrick). [/edit]

i got the semi brick icon once
i pressed vol down, home, then power and held them together until the phone booted once, then once more, then once more (I kept holding them for about 40 seconds I guess). Then took the battery out for a minute, then while holding all 3 buttons together, put it back in (this is tricky, you need to practice or have someone else to help you) and did another 40 second loops. Finally took the battery out, put it back in and tried download mode and it worked.
But I could get download mode before I bricked it...
thanks allotrios,
Gave it a valiant try and no luck. I'm going to have to figure out the jig I guess - I can't figure out how they plug in those largish looking usb jigs into that tiny proprietary (looking) usb port on the i9000. Videos say a cheap micro usb cable but I think i may have to cut into my SGS charging/usb cable. But doesn't look like the cables on videos/pics.

Hang on, one more thing you can try, worked for me just last weekend....
"Leave Odin Open. Then Plug the USB. While the USB is plugged in and Odin running press and hold volume down + Home + Power. Once the black screen comes release the Power Button. It will get to the download mode"
Worked like a charm, got it from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13630631#post13630631
If it works for you make sure you hit the thanks button of the guy that originally posted it
If you really need a JIG try this http://www.sparkfun.com/products/10031 with one of these http://parts.digikey.com/1/parts/764289-res-301k-ohm-1-4w-1-metal-film-mfr-25fbf-301k.html
Taken from 1st post in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551
Gave it a go and no luck. I was wondering if Odin v1.82 was a problem so dl'd and used Odin v1.3 (says GT-P1000 on the title bar of it) but didn't seem to matter. Tried both versions.
I had Odin running, plugged in the phone which brought up the "brick" icons, then held down the 3 buttons until it rebooted (black screen came on) and released power, still holding other two buttons. Nothing - just the icons of death. I'm very rural so have parts coming for a jig - might have them by Monday evening or mid-week. Lucky that the phone was really slow and buggy (build XXJP2) so wife didn't like it at all. She wants an iphone so was hoping to spiff this one up to curtail that move. /jd
[edit] My research says that some of these phones have a bad secondary bootloader that prevents the 3-button technique. Not sure if that is inclusive of all these methods mentioned in this thread - that they simply won't work on a phone with the bad bootloader or whether these methods have sometimes overcome that limitation. But I've found a few links to fix it if I can get the phone back from the dead..
My phone is rooted, how can find efs folder and can I save a backup my computer hard drive?
I do odin flashing, in case something goes wrong.

hey dude just download root explorer then open it u will find the efs folder in it
presss the efs folder for a second then there will be a popup in that u will find copy
just copy it and paste it in ur sd card
then connect ur phone to pc then u will find that efs folder
then just copy it to ur pc
Just a note to add data points on the bricking from my situation.
I read somewhere that a guy got his phone in download mode by plugging it into a bluetooth headset without it plugged into the charger. He figured it had built in resistance to help detect which device it was being plugged into and voila! he got download mode. (People in that thread asked which headset and he hadn't replied at that point so I don't know which).
I misread that at first to read a guy plugged the phone into his charger so I tried it (3 button combo and variations) and of course didn't work. But I was sitting there thinking about something else holding down the buttons and all of a sudden got it into download mode. The computers wouldn't recognize it though. So no luck - figured I had a jig coming so no biggy. Pulled the battery and tried again and it worked. This time I got into a download mode that the computer recognized.
So I flashed a kernel and got a "higher level" brick - got to first boot screen with words - but it just sat there vibrating. So tried a JVH single tar file an then got a boot loop up through the boot animations and noise. So am progressing - think I will try getting back to stock Froyo from samfirmware.com and see what goes from there. /jd

well you just probably need to flash a rom now!
How do i do that, since i cant ented recowery mode. all i can do iz enter download mode, and when i connect the phone to a pc its showin no internal internal memory 0 mb
or do i need to root it again like i did the first time i flasht it.
Does Odin not work when you're in Download Mode?
If it does, the stock Gingerbread Firmwares are here.
ok gona tray now, ty
ok so i tried to use odin, but when the phone wanted to rebot it dident turn on enymore, the computer cant recognize it enymore when i plug it on the usb, i cant ewen turn it on enymore while usb cable is pluged in, and i cant enter downloadmode either when the phone iz unpluged, only loop scren.
Take out the battery and try entering Download Mode again by holding the Volume Down, Home and Power button at the same time. Then download JVR from samfirmware.com. It will include Odin3. Select "MODEM_I9000XXJVR_REV_00_CL1044379.tar.md5" as PHONE, "CODE_I9000XXJVR_CL425308_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.md5" as PDA and "CSC.tar" as CSC. Remember to select "Re-partition".
No luck vith volumen down+home+power, the phone yust keps rebooting, and if i plug it on the PC by USB i cant ewen start the phone. Eny other idea (o and vhat rom shud i download to instal from odin if i can get it werking, or iz that all included in the package). Sry for the stupid questions but im realy confused now and frustraded and all bicoz 1 misclick.
Try taking the battery out for half an hour, then reinserting, and try down load m mode again, if that doesn't work repeat, but this time hold buttons before you insert battery, post back and let us know what happens

My phone doesn't boot anymore, and when I try to turn it on nothing happens, I've tried to put it in download mode but that doesn't seem to work for me either. My phone is Samsung Galaxy Ace 2.3.5 and it's running stock firmware. Phone is succesfully rooted for one month, yesterday I put the file for a custom firmware on the sd card, but when I tried to reboot in CWM 5 the screen didn't show up anymore. One thing you should know is that i've been outside (it's freezing) but at the phone shop they said it couldn't be a prob. in the battery.
Is there a possibility for me to turn on the screen again or, with odin, flash the original software to make it work again.
I'm a bit of a noob in flashing and that kind of stuff.

Yes, I did. So this caused the bricking of my phone? So i'll just have to bring it to a samsung service point and hope the warranty is still valid.

YES root manager KILLS GALAXY ACE. U shouldve read other threads first -_- and anyway if your phone is rooted warranty is voided
try this
1.pull out your battery, sim card, micro sd care
2.set files in odin
3.connect phone to pc (still without battery)
4.hold power+vol down+home button
5.while holding put your battery (hold till u dont see triangle )

plzhelp for above & any other way for this problem.
have you try to reflash it via odin?
Nothing will work.....
You have to go to service center (if you have warranty)
Give them any excuse (did a factory reset and then phone didn't start )
They will never notice that your phone was rooted
They will change the motherboard and give you back
Next time think before you do something....
k - going 2 service center because its just 6 months past phone - with that excuse lets see what happens.
Hello. I am having this problem too, but pressing Vol Up + HOME + Power On, ODIn detects the phone, but when I start the process it stay in "<1> setup connection..."

Installing doesn't make anything, but if you try to use it you will brick you phone.
Already got mine back from the service centre and it's working perfectly!
Hi!
I'd like to explain the s*** I'm in right now.
My phone, when running under slim bean, was not recognized to my computer when plugged in. So couldn't transfer files via usb
I downloaded slim bean rom, flashed stuff, got stuck into bootloop. Can't access my recovery anymore.
Now, the usual stuff you do is getting into download mode, then flash the kernel in the tar file.
BUT. My phone can access download mode, but my computer says the same old s***, deviced not f****** recognized. So I can not flash anything now.
Is it a dead end? Have you ever heard about this weird issue?
Do you have any idea ?
I tried doing the same step on my friend's computer. Didn't work as well, same damn issue
I'm offering a damn pint of beer to the one who can help me :good:
Thanks !

try My Android Solutions for a solution
But First powerdown, pull out Battery, SIM CARD, and EXT.SD card, press power
button for a minute, than powerup without SIM and Ext.SD Card....
Tips before Flashing:-
Backup all your important files, contacts, SMS, game data, images etc to PC or
Ext SD card. or make Nanadroid Backup If you have CWM
Backup your EFS Folder to PC or Ext SD card
Enable USB Debugging on Phone. Touch menu>Settings>Applications>Development>
Charge your battery to more than 50% before you attempt any sort of flashing.
Disable Samsung KIES when using Odin. Kill Kies.exe, KiesTrayAgent.exe, &
KiesPDLR.exe using Task Manager on PC
Use only ROM and solution for your model and Wipe x3

Haha when you flash a i9000 with jb or ICS , it is no longer recognized as an i9000. It becomes a nexus s. So use the nexus s USB drivers
