I have a newly rooted NC, but I'm having issues with rockplayer.
I have some videos on my sdcard (formatted by the NC). Stuff created by my iphone 3g, a flip, & our digital camera. None will open and play. I get
"Can't open /sdcard/... to play"
when I select SW decode. I thought rockplayer was supposed to try to play more formats than supported in HW. Am I wrong? Is there something else I'm doing wrong?
Thanks,
tlc
Hmm... I've tried it from the internal memory, but not from the SD card. This works fine for me. You may need to move the video to internal memory (using Astro or Linda file manager) and then play it. This may also be a good idea because the internal memory is likely faster. It's an extra step to move it to the internal memory and back when you're done, but it works for me.
Thanks. But I tried the internal memory first. I only went to the sdcard after reading somewhere that rockplayer wouldn't play things off the internal.
Strange, everything works fine for me for Rockplayer off an SD card. I mostly play AVIs though.
Ugh. Never mind. My video files (exported from iPhoto) were bad.
Thanks all.

Anyone found a way to, for example, get music stored on your nook internal memory recognized by the android media scanner? Or is there a way to mount the internal storage so it is recognized as part of the sdcard or something along those lines?
I want those 5 gigs!
Different Media Player
Well, the Froyo Media player actually plays music from internal. However, the alternative here is to use a different media player which allows you to access different storages. I like player pro on the phone, but don't know if it would work on the Nook. Have you also tried Mixzing?
not running froyo atm, will flash it when its able to run off system memory not sd card. good suggestion with mixzing, but it does not "see" the internal flash mem even when you try to specify specific folders in settings.
oh and player pro works great on the nook fyi, though it doesnt solve my particular issue.
Well, Poweramp plays internal memory, well it does on my phone anyway XD
For some reason my nook is not reading internal storage. It mounts and copies files fine. I threw a few gigs of music on it and the music app is not recognizing any of it... Any suggestions?
I have only tried this with music thus far as I only intend to keep music on internal storage. Everything else is accommodating my 16gd sd. Music, pictures, etc..
So I put a 2.4gb .mp4 over to my sd card which is in my D3 and I can't seem to get the vid to play as it should. Tried the stock video player as well as Mobo.
The video plays with Mobo only if I use the soft-decoding option, but the audio gets ruined in the process. With the stock video player, I get a black screen and the track bar shows the video skipping at very fast rates. If I close and reopen the video again, the player crashes. If I scroll through the track bar, I can see the video screen caps but once the video starts playing again, black screen.
Video is a 720p bluray rip of The Dark Knight. Not sure what the exact specs are on that.
Btw my laptop plays the vid flawlessly so the file isn't corrupt or anything.
Do I need to convert the file or something, because I thought the D3 could play .mp4 files.
Try RockPlayer Lite from the market. I've had good luck with that app playing videos encoded for ipad/touch. The description is in Chinese but the menus are English so its usable.

Yeah try a different player like vlc on the market, the video encoding might be out of spec with audio and video slightly and enough to confuse the stock video player.

Tried it, worked the way Mobo did (audio ruined) but also distorted graphics in some areas.
I've heard that SD cards (or maybe the Droid 3/android phones) don't like vid files over 2 gigs, and this is 2.7 so...? or maybe I should use a different format instead of mp4 :/
bleh i dunno.. so many possibilities
Are you putting it on a physical sd card or on the phones internal memory which is labled sd? If its on the card that's prob your problem, but it on the internal storage. If not, idk

Yeah it was on the SD Card which I heard isn't nice to files above 2GB.
Anyway I downloaded DVD Catalyst 4 and the newly converted file worked on the card fine. Still, good to know about the sd card vs internal storage for future large video files.
My Gallery won't show anything stored on my ext SD, did it all the time, i have my pics and movies on my sd and where always vissible in my gallery, since a few days the Gallery shows only content from my inernal storage and nothing from my ext storage, when i check my sd is installed, and a can see the foto's and all other files, can open them, even with my gallery, but still not visible in my gallery.
a day later the same happend to my Music, all stored on sd, still exists but my music player won't recognize them, if i go to the song i can choose play, then choose the music player, and it plays, but my player wont find any music.
So it looks like my phone still will see all the content on my sd, but if i wanna use that content with an app, the app won't recognize the content, movies, pics and music (mp3) all on my sd, when i move it to my internal storage, it works great...
The only options i have in the gallery is show content from phone, facebook and picassa, but no sd options.
i restored my phone to factory default, still the same....
or someone else who knows i can fix it

Have you recently partitioned your SD Card or played around with it in any way? Have you been using Music2SD, Link2SD or Pictures2SD? Have you tried using another SD Card? What gallery/media player are you using?

Thanks for the hint, never thought it was the SD himself, because in my pc it works great, and all content was vissible, also in my phone with root explorer i found all my files, and was able to open them.
but tried another sd with some pics and stuff and they where vissible in my gallery, formatted the SD on my pc wasn't possible, but when i did it with my phone it was solved, now i can see all my old pics...
Thanks again
The files appear to be demos and trailers. All I am using the Gear for is my own movies and perhaps some games.
I have 8GB free on my card, so would rather just put a few movies on it and swap out as I watch them rather than load all this stuff on it.
Though have a 128gb card, it is already loaded with my music, pictures, home vids and a bunch of emulator roms.
Just follow the directory structure for thr oculus folder and put the porn in the my videos folder.
The SD card contents are not required. If you want the content you can copy it to your other card. I did this and it worked fine. If you don't care about having the videos and images and such that are included, then you don't have to move anything over and it will still work fine.

Nah, my wife would see the smile on my face and bust me
I figured it out. Ended up getting rid of almost all of it.
Added: Almost all of it is not needed unless you want the demos and trailers.
