I'm sure everybody knows by now, but the multi-touch bugs seem to be related to the recovery. In my little bit of free time I have been working on an updated recovery that supports multi touch for all devices.
I am fairly confident that all amoled HTC INCREDIBLES are able to get either 3 or 5 point multi touch, but it seems that there still may be issues with some (or all) SLCD devices, this is why I need many testers. So for those of you who are willing to help out, I need you to follow these instructions:
1) Download http://chad0989.dyndns.org/PB31IMG.zip
2) Place on the root of your SD card.
3) Boot into hboot (vol down and power when turning on)
4) Select yes when it asks if you want to start update.
5) Select no when it asks you if you want to reboot.
6) Choose recovery
7) Flash a KNOWN working multi-touch kernel.
Reboot and use the multi touch test app from the market to see if you have more than 2 touch points.
Report back the following:
1) Are you SLCD?
2) Yes or no on more than 2 touches
3) What atmel touch device you have - open a terminal and type cat /sys/android_touch/vendor and report what is says.
4) Hardware version
Thanks everyone!
SLCD Only:
Since the one above still seems to not be working for you guys, heres another try at it:
http://chad0989.dyndns.org/PB31IMG-test2.zip - Don't forget to rename it to PB31IMG.zip and place on the root of the SD.
Also has anyone with an SLCD ever had multitouch an any time? What were the conditions that you had it?
Awesome, I'll give it a shot. I had 10-point multitouch working a while ago on invisiblek-21 and CWM 2.5.05. But when I went to 2.5.1.2 it went back to 2.

It has to do with obviously something with being removed from the recovery but having a specific recovery doesn't magically make 3,5, or 10 multitouch work when u install 2.5.0.5
It's when u flash the kernel within the recovery. I used 2.5.0.5 to flash kernels, and the rest is left up to psfmod for.my inc. I've set up Rom manager to think 2.5.0.5 is actually 2.5.1.1, and set up psfmod as 2.5.1.2 so that I can switch easy without troubles

It is in there, someone had to manually install it to get it to work. I'm not sure, let me know if it doesn't and I can install it on first boot.
Got everything installed fine, but ended up finding two bugs. First was the mouse pointer not oriented correctly and not able to hit the right side of the screen. And second is when I reboot my Adam it just sits at a black screen and cant get back into recovery. I have to run the official Notion Ink fix to revert to stock and start fresh.
Any ideas?

The first issue is related to an accelerometer fix. Check the gtablet VEGAn-Tab post I link to for more information. There is a patch to fix the mouse issue, but then you use support for the games with x-y swap for the accelerometer.
The second issue isn't related to the ROM, but with the Adam's partition layout and clockworkmod or the stock recovery. It gives random issues like that to me every so often. If you keep having it, change to a different recovery then try again.

Hi Rothnic,
is there something I have to keep in mind if I currently have installed the EdenX rom and want to install yours?
thx
André
I had the same problem and its because CWM doesn't flash the bootloader. Or maybe CWM incorrectly flashes the bootloader but either way it always hangs eventually. Stick with the stock recovery. I haven't had any problems since I did so.

This boot animation has a comparatively longer period. So if you are in cm7 or miui, you can experience only a portion of it. Best viewed in Sense Roms.
Now added the background music, so it's much better now.......If you are using any Virtuous Roms (including the latest), use the sense 3.0 version.
Download the Version based on your Rom
Sense 3.0 based Rom - Portrait , Landscape
Sense 3.5 based Rom - Portrait , Landscape
CynogenMod based Rom - Portrait , Landscape
The MIUI version is here. Use this link. This is a .mtz file so just run it, it will do the rest.
Make sure you have you have sufficient space in /system folder, before you start with the procedure.
Procedure to install via CWM Recovery
1. Download the Flashable zip file from the above list.
2. Do a Nandroid Backup.
3. Reboot into Recovery & Flash the zip.
4. Now reboot & enjoy........

build 11 does not install on GT-I9000
hi all
many many thanks for great work done.
i have a (may be stupid!) problem.
build 10, was installed on my Galaxy s, without any problem, every thing was good, speed, 3G & other things(minus known issues).
when i download build 11, it says that it is only installs on SGH-I897 and not GT-I9000, so i changed "updater-script" & added GT-I9000 manually, but many things does not work, including home button, in call sound is full of noise, and the speed (opening an app when it touched), is decreased, so i revert back to build 10.
i also found in build 10's "updater-script", that it installs only on GT-I9000 & not captivates. what is wrong, and how i can install build 11 on my SGS?

Maybe, but I really have no idea. I can see it being a feature of cm9 in the future, but otherwise it would probably require more effort than it's worth.

You could always use the glitch kernel with the broken capacitive buttons
You can also set the backlight timeout really low in device options which isn't disabling them but probably the best you'll get, sorry.

This sounds pretty awesome. Great work giveen! I'm going to give this a go this weekend when I have some more time. Out of curiosity what kernel are you using? When a few of us ported desktop ubuntu to the nook color we were able to use a pre existing kernel(nookie froyo kernel I believe, though I'd have to dig through a few hard drives to be sure) which saved us some headaches in the beginning)
Keep it up, loving your work

So folks, its a little bit too late, i know, but i made a flashable zip of stock kernel from the China FW. It contains all the necessary modules, etc.. It contains all the necessary files that the tab falls to sleep after l2_hsic going crazy. This solve the unnecessarily high battery drain since Android 4.0.4 aka ICS was published by samsung. Is intended for those who have no desire to a custom kernel.
But notice this kernel is not overclockable, should work with any firmware and this requires root to flash the kernel.
PS: But this kernel is only for the 3G versions (GT-P7500/7501), why only the 3G models are equipped with the high battery drain.
What do I need?
- The kernel
- Root ->look here
-> Do you have ICS on it, point ranges 2 and 3
-> You still have Honeycomb on it, start from step 1
- a custom recovery -> for example here
- wherewithal basic knowledge -> Look at the forum or ask at Aunt Google.

Flash through CWM / TWRP
You place the zip on the internal memory or external SD card.
- To boot into recovery, hold volume down when you restart
- Go to "install zip from sd card", depending on the type of recovery (CWM)
-> Or just install (in TWRP)
- look for the folder where you have placed the zip
- And flashes this now by clicking on yes in CMW or slide to the right with TWRP.
- Then reboot and kernel you got it.

PPS: I testet it with the Hungary FW without this kernel. After 1 hour the bug came back.:silly: So i flashed this kernel again and it works like charme. So it should work with any other FW.

Maybe try a different bootloader.
As far as I am aware I have never updated the boot loader. Any ideas Where I would get the stock ics boot loader

From here. Choose your device folder and flash the tar via Odin with pda on your pc. If you are having a wifi device, the zip must be extracted before you flash it via odin. But i think you have a 3G device. Otherwise you dont be here in this thread.
Wow i forgot how much long the galaxy tab could hold on. I was on A1 and Yoda's kernel and was kinda used of charging my tablet every 2-3 days. But man, im glad i flashed stock, this is so smooth no need to overclock and it lasts way longer on my device. I doubled my battery life and it stays on for days almost weeks with daily use. Sad to say to developpers but stock is really amazing on ICS.
I really recommend giving stock kernel a second chance. Im blown away, thanks for posting this!

You do know that the wakelock issue is already fixed right? Now in almost every JB ROM(except for those no longer updates ones) no more l2_hsic wakelock. For ICS custom ROMs, use A1 kernel.

I appreciate the effort ,just installed it this afternoon and I can see the effect perfectly, all deep sleep, not one minute at 200mhz. All of it without too much hassle. Thanks to you!
We're lucky android is so open and has a great community, depending on Samsung alone is not recommended.
Thank you
Thank you also from me. Works percfectly!
