Samsung galaxy S i9088 - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ey guys,
i bought a samsung galaxy s i9088 in china.
I just took a look at the captive wiki and it has the exact same specs and stuff.
I also want to root my phone, should i use the i9000 or captive thread?
or is this phone not able to get rooted?
Thanks, and sorry for my noobiness :<

According to this, it looks to be an i9000 variant. I would refer to the i9000 forum for most things, but rooting is the same across most galaxy S devices.

The root process failed because the model number didnt exist in the root file.
And the problem is i can't install z4root because the chinese phones don't have acces to android market..
Hope someone can help me out here

[Q] What should i do first ?

Hello.
My Galaxy Tab arrives tomorow and i read here at XDA that the stock rom isn`t that good as some Rom`s cocked here.
So i`m new to this.
Can someone help me with a few links and steps of what shoud i do to try XDA rom`s?
I`ve seen that it`s 1st post on development "How to root" but what are the steps.
I`m mean whats the next step after root and if i`m not wrong i`ve seenthat you coud flash roms via recovery and via a program Odin. Can you give me a link on how to in both cases ?
Thank you very much and hope in good roms for Galaxy Tab

How about a little more info: What kind of tab is it? 7" 8.9" 10.1"? GSM or CDMA. Unbranded wifi only? Or carrier fixed like T mobile or AT&T?
Also before rooting or flashing you need to know if your tab has a locked bootloader or not. If it is you need to apply a certain patch.
Give us some info and links will be on the way.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933400 your one stop shop to all links.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933400 Noob Rooting for dummies.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071 patch for locked Bootloader.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932082 Best custom ROM/Kernel for G TAB IMHO.
I`ve received my Galaxy Tab today and i`m playing with it but it`s run very smooth, very quickly ? How it`s therom`s cockedhere ? Is it realy necesare to root it?
Well the choice of going custom or remaining on stock ROM is totally up to the user. IF you feel fullfilled by your device. then no need for a custom ROM otherwise use it.

Try going to the correct forum first.
See the "GT-N7000" in the forum title? Does that look like your model number?

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Dart / SGH-T499 Question

Hi all,
My girlfriend just got a Samsung Dart / SGH-T499. It runs Android 2.2 and suffers from a lack of many apps in the Play Store (I think because the Android is so old). She would prefer an official update. I found this: http://yagyagaire.blogspot.in/2011/12/how-to-upgrade-samsung-galaxy-pop-to.html#.T94PzrWe73Q
But it is for the "Samsung Galaxy Mini" which I think is the same as the Dart, but not 100% and do not want to brick the phone.
Can anyone confirm if this would work, or if not, what else I could do to get her a newer but relatively vanilla Android?
Thanks,
Weaseal
No, the mini and the dart are different. Check out my sig for some good places to get started. You can root your dart using superoneclick root. Just google "root samsung dart superoneclick". Then follow the links in my sig to install cwm and then flash cm7 by DashBlack from madteam forums. If you have any ?'s don't hesitate to ask here or pm me
Sent from my Galaxy Mini (SGH-T499) using XDA
Is there any way to root the Dart without SuperOneClick?
CM9/CM10? Anyone?
I wonder if anyone is porting CM9 or CM10 to the Dart?
Would love to have CM9, at least.

No. I used SuperOneClick to Root the dart.
Take a look over HERE for a good tutorial.
Maybe, you could try something like THIS method but, the SuperOneClick is the easiest.
If you need drivers for Windows, you can download THIS and install it, then connect the phone and it will install.
This is not a question forum ...

[Q] [CWM] [Recovery] S7275R Galaxy Ace 3

Hi peeps, its the end of the year 2013. And my previously owned galaxy ace is dying out of slowness, incapability and lagginess.
I've now got the new Galaxy ace 3.
Just rooted it with vroot and installed SuperSU.
Though im yet to find any proper CWM that is capable with this phone.
The usual methods that uses Odin and flashing the PDA doesn't work for me.
Any help is appreciated
PS, XDA doesnt recognize Galaxy Ace 3 yet and please do let me know if i've posted in the wrong place.
Sharing is caring, respect is all the wealth we need.
I got the Ace III about a day after you and have already managed to brick it :crying:
So if you make any progress with CWM or Odin etc please post back.
It's such a good little phone I'd hate to give up on it.
Thanks

OK, thanks. In case any Ace 3 ace is reading, any assistance editing the vold.fstab would be appreciated. The format is different from what I was expecting.

Looks like the same one from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2548856
I've been holding that one in reserve since my phone model appears to suggest it will not be compatible - and I'm in the "Twice shy" phase of my meddling
Thanks for that though. I'm also investigating obackup (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2040507&page=478) as an alternative to CWM, no luck there yet either. I'm in an unfamiliar position of having a fairly new device
EDIT - Just occurred to me that message was probably for the OP, still - thanks.
