Hi all,
My girlfriend just got a Samsung Dart / SGH-T499. It runs Android 2.2 and suffers from a lack of many apps in the Play Store (I think because the Android is so old). She would prefer an official update. I found this: http://yagyagaire.blogspot.in/2011/12/how-to-upgrade-samsung-galaxy-pop-to.html#.T94PzrWe73Q
But it is for the "Samsung Galaxy Mini" which I think is the same as the Dart, but not 100% and do not want to brick the phone.
Can anyone confirm if this would work, or if not, what else I could do to get her a newer but relatively vanilla Android?
Thanks,
Weaseal
No, the mini and the dart are different. Check out my sig for some good places to get started. You can root your dart using superoneclick root. Just google "root samsung dart superoneclick". Then follow the links in my sig to install cwm and then flash cm7 by DashBlack from madteam forums. If you have any ?'s don't hesitate to ask here or pm me

Is there any way to root the Dart without SuperOneClick?
CM9/CM10? Anyone?
I wonder if anyone is porting CM9 or CM10 to the Dart?
Would love to have CM9, at least.

No. I used SuperOneClick to Root the dart.
Take a look over HERE for a good tutorial.
Maybe, you could try something like THIS method but, the SuperOneClick is the easiest.
If you need drivers for Windows, you can download THIS and install it, then connect the phone and it will install.
This is not a question forum ...

Ey guys,
i bought a samsung galaxy s i9088 in china.
I just took a look at the captive wiki and it has the exact same specs and stuff.
I also want to root my phone, should i use the i9000 or captive thread?
or is this phone not able to get rooted?
Thanks, and sorry for my noobiness :<

According to this, it looks to be an i9000 variant. I would refer to the i9000 forum for most things, but rooting is the same across most galaxy S devices.

I'm fairly new to the galaxy tab and i'm unsure how to change the rom to cm7 my galaxy tab is a bell one P1000M its un rooted its stock for now so where do i start?
Root with Z4root but don't attempt to get CM7. Its a beta and you need to know how to use Heimdall to flash it.

Yes there is plenty of guides.
All roms come with introductions on how to install aswell as guides in teh sticky topics of teh forums.
Before you attempt to do anything to your device sit down and do some research otherwise you will be back here creating a "help I bricked my device urgent help" topic clone of the million others here.

You could read the OP in the CM7 development thread. Especially the part about how incomplete & unstable it is.
Either leave it alone, or flash Overcome instead for now, CM7 is several weeks away from being any use as a daily system.
I have been following the CM7 threads, seems like there is still some work to do to get it working on the tab.
I flashed overcome 1.4.4 and its very very nice. fast and smooth.
I have tried everywhere :-
Searched upto 5 pages with around 10 different queries on GOOGLE
Used 'Unlock Root'
Manually throught adb cmnds using 'psneuter' and 'gingerbreak'
Using a batch script
But No success!!!
Even re-installed Win-7 [my phone driver wasn't installing, installed at last]
PLZ provide a working way
Why don't you simply install a custom ROM and make your own life easier.
You do realize all custom roms r pre-rooted don't you?

Actually I am very new to android, I bought my phone 5 days ago. But there's problem with it, all 3D HVGA games (even Raging Thunder 2) are running with render problems, sometimes all cars and trees are white, sometimes some meshes are not loaded, or some 2D images moving on screen. I am fed up with it, its like I bought wrong one.
I read somewhere, root your phone -> install chainfire3D ...and that's the only hope. I am sure these games run well on Galaxy Ace. Is there something with this set? kindly help.

http ://s18.postimage.org/av2hilcfp/render_problem_in_GT_S6802.png
I realized it can be done the other way by flashing a rooted rom. But I couldn't, I am not sure which rom should I pick for my device (Ace Duos GT-S6802).
Tried with random rom in Ace forum by Recovery method and there was something like
if(productCode == S5830) ...... .. . .. . . .. . etc FAILED!
I think it wasn't meant for S6802.
Tried something with ODIN [FAILED!]
Plz suggest something... (in quite detail or tutorial link)
have you tried superoneclick??
it works quite wonderfully..
Sent fromm my mind using NFC
Yes, I tried it. It hangs after "running psneuter", or "running GingerBreak", or "running motofail"
Maybe these exploits were fixed in this model:cyclops:

Ok im gonna be pretty honest with you. You did buy the wrong phone. even the first (original galaxy ace, s5830) is a pain in the *** cause you get loads of devs and stuff out there and they quite nicely refuse to make stuff for your phone. you get me??? long story short mate its all business and you made a mistake buying that phone. I dont know if there is ever gonna be any support for galaxy ace i,m,duos in xda. :-( sad enit
I don't think some more research would be harmful but i don't think it would be useful either . good luck though

In that case.
Leave everyone, I'll try whatever I can. I believe I can do it.
Some guy here said, only impossible is impossible. Just tell me about exploits (gingerbreak etc) or how those zip packages (upd.zip) are made.

this happened with me too, when I was trying to root my brother's Dell Aero.
Jst remove the cable when it hangs and then attach it again.
I successfuly rooted An old ass phone lyk dell aero with this. so An Ace duos should not be much trouble I believe.

Here's for him/her

Use this update.zip and follow the same instructions......
Note:this is actually for Galaxy Y duos (that worked for me)
I tried CWM of Y DUOS on my ACE DUOS, it did open the recovery menu but failed to mount /sdcard and even crashed while rebooting.

are there any rom for GT-S6802?

Hey guys,
I have a Samsung galaxy ace s5830D. As I have sort of figured out it is different than the galaxy ace s5830 and the s5830i. I was able to root it with superoneclick. But my bootloader just says "installation aborted" when I try installing clockwork mod or any custom roms. If you have a fix for this that would be greatly appreciated !
Sorry if I'm kind of a noob. But i can't find any threads for this phone at all /:
Thanks, guys.
Bootloader?? Shouldn't you flash it in the recovery ??
The s5830D is not really that much different than the standard s5830, other than regional stuff. I have the "D" model and have been using the info for the standard s5830. Same roms, recovery and tutorials work.
Would you be so kind as to link to the appropriate s5830 roms and tuts that worked out for you, please?
I've seen some thread where people haven't had as good luck as yourself with s5830 stuff working on s5830D devices.
I cant remember for sure which one I used for cwm, but this one seems familiar to me. As for ROM's its a matter of finding one you like, read the developers threads to get an idea of if that ROM is what you want. At the moment I'm using Democracy final, but I change ROM's like crazy. lol. Another one I am fond of is Apocolypse. Again, these both appealed to me and suited my use of my Ace. Just make sure that anytime you flash anything thats it's for the s5830, as flashing something for other variants will brick your phone..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797986
If you want to check out the 2 roms I mentioned:
Democracy Final Edition
Apocolypse Final
Similar problem but I can't figure it out
oops nvm, delete this post
So, i was wondering if there is a download of this anywhere? or if it was possible to get one from antoher user.
As i was messing around with cyanogenmod, yet, i made a mistake, and now my phone is useless / cant run the programs it needs to, so i would like to make a fresh install on it.
Is this possible to get / download?

Dont wonder, just look under "Galaxy S III Mini Android Development" there are lot of "STOCK" Roms..... and if you cant flash with CWM, try at "Galaxy S III Mini General" There is a guide, how to unbrick your Phone and so one.... and there is a ODIN - flashable stockROM too
I cant post you links, so just searcdh, they are everywhere in these threads
EDIT:
look at S III mini General. There is this post: "Official ROOTED firmwares for the SIII mini - OXX csc"
