Hello! Maybe its a launcher pro / TW / ADW thing, but I think it would be useful to have multitouch swipes in the launcher. For instance:
1 finger swipe slides 1 screen as usual
2 fingers swipes slides 2 screens (i.e. quicker access to 2 more screens)
3 finger swipes -> go to last screen on right or left respectively
Similar philosophy could apply to vertical swipes - e.g. 2 finger vertical swipe could be a quick "clear" of the notification bar.
Customizable swipes would also be cool: e.g. 3 finger vertical upwards = direct sms to specific number.
What do you think? Maybe we should sent requests / emails to the respective developers...
Brilliant idea,
it is a shame to have a multitouch screen and only use it on gallery and slice it.
This should be a new standard in launchers ;D
Sent from that Green Robot Device with a 4"screen, chewing on some froyo(with an extra .1)

While tinkering with google map's I noticed that the screen seems to respons to 2 seperate points? give it a try for yourself. I used my finger to move side to side and the pointer to move up and down, this worked together and independantly on my phone. If this is the case can we see software to support this function such as image resize and so on?????
P.S. a couple of other things to try.....
Hold volume up button and press the action button (this brings up the screen calibation)
I think this has been mentioned before but there is a easteregg in the weather screen
If you tap on the dark bar that says weather near the side Left then Right it run's a demo of the various animations.
I don't think it's multi touch, it just finds the mean of the two points you press. It's the same if you use two fingers in some touch pads at laptops. Try this and you may understand what I'm talking about. Start google maps and touch the left part of the screen. While keeping your finger down, touch the right part and see when happens. With both fingers down, release the left finger and see what happens. This is due to the way the touch screen works, but it's definitely not multitouch.
Good tips for the screen calibration and the animations demo (although it doesn't show all animations - I didn't see the fog animation )
When I press the 'apps' button, I get a nice grid of apps that are six columns by five columns when I hold the phone vertically, and eight columns by three rows when I hold the phone horizontally. All nice and neat.
So how come I can't make nearly so nice an arrangement on the home screen, which have programmed to allow 8x8? Vertically, I can't even get five of them on a row without one of them falling on top of another, and then when I turn it vertically, it stacks them on top of each other.
Wat do?
Hi everyone! How can I make three screens with no scrolling, that is I can't swipe between screens but can select the screen by pinching in and selecting the screen. I need this because I am trying to make a screen where it has shortcuts to go to the next screen. So I want to restrict swiping between screens and only use those shortcuts. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Use SSlaucher

Try SSlauncher.
I had exactly what you described on my Galaxy S in it worked perfectly. My screens were set up similar to an old telephone address book. On the right hand side of every one of the 9 screens I had were the numbers 1-9. I was the "home" screen. Under the numbers, that went from the bottom to the top of the screen were short description on what was of that screen. Things like "Home", "Office", "Daily", "Games", "Photo"
It was a joy to use and looked very cool with a smooth transition from screen to screen called "Flow".
One of the nicest things -apart from not having to swipe all the time- was that from the "Home" screen to screen 9 did not mean that 8 other screens had to fly past. The next screed regardless of the number always appeared to be the next screen!
SSlauncher also allows you to switch of "swiping" and even have a different background on each screen.
One warning. Do not be put off buy the developers terrible examples on the Play Store or the learning curve. Go to www.mycolorscreen.? for inspiration.
Don't hesitate to pm for help if you need it.

Thanks. I am using apex launcher now. Will try ss launcher. Thanks for the reply.
I am finding it quite annoying that you swipe up, but the lock screen moves left (and the whole tinted screen moves with it). I'm guessing there is no way to change it, so it moves up instead.
My last phone was the Z3 Compact and there you swipe up, and the pattern moves up with the lock screen. It made sense.
I'm annoyed by the visual discrepancy as well, but thankfully I rarely have to interact with it since fingerprint unlock is so quick, accurate and convenient.
Ideally, they should have designed the animation to adapt to different swipe gestures. At least they still allow you to swipe up to unlock instead of forcing you to swipe left.
So.. Am I the only one unlocking by swiping from the right (so for the me animation for me is actually perfect)...?
But why is the padlock at the bottom of the screen if you swipe right to left? I also wouldn't mind if the pattern lock entered from the right. It's the inconsistency that gets me
Most likely the UI people at Sony decided that for this generation, the core UI gesture theme is swiping from right to left.
For example, default home screen is anchored at the very left and additional pages are to the right, so you swipe left to access those pages.
So, by extension, the lock screen should also be unlocked the same way for consistency and smooth transition to the home screen UI flow.
The padlock icon location is probably tied to the Android OS and not something Sony can or wants to change.
Just a guess. I'm still grateful that they didn't remove the ability to swipe up to unlock.
Maybe you're right. I would like to have the option.
I've looked into a few replacement lock screen apps but they don't feel as secure as the stock one.
Sucks for me too. Wish we could swipe any direction.
I tried the new navigation gesture with "Swipe from sides and bottom" but both the left an right swipes act as "back button", I cannot bring the recent apps screen on with the side gesture.
How to fix this ?
You get recent apps when you swipe from bottom like for the Home but do not release the finger for one more second.
